Item: Foefire Wraps
Races: All
Sex: Both
Classes: Light and Medium wearers
Equipment: Light and Medium Chests that hide the upper arm/forearm; Sylvari Female Arborist Coat (Heavy). (It’s unclear to me the extent of the bug on Heavy chests; might be almost entirely N/A for the other Heavy race/sex combos due to non-glove-hiding designs)
Problem:
When the Foefire Wraps are equipped with chest pieces that hide the upper arm/forearm, the flames/glow color are not drawn from any of the 4 dye channels used on the Foefire Wraps. Instead:
- Most of these use the color of one of the chest channels
- Some of these are red
- At least a few are bugged to be a sort of white-with-black
- And a tinier few bugged to be orange
- None used a color from the actual Foefire Wraps
This happens in both Night and Day modes and in various locations. I did not test for underwater differences.
More Notes on Testing Process:
My attached screenshots show an in-game screenshot with Equipment panel, as well as Dye views that make it more obvious what’s happening. For a more full list of what combinations this happens on for easy bug-testing reference… I tested as best as I could with my existing characters, and using a mix of inventory items, wardrobe unlocks, and wardrobe previews. I specifically tested ALL of the light Foefire gloves + chest combinations for female asura and sylvari. I also did samplings from all armor weight classes on both males/females and all races and confirmed the bug for both sexes + light or medium weight, but heavy seems to lack glove-covering chests besides the Sylvari Female Arborist Coat. I will update if I find out otherwise.
Full testing spreadsheet on Google Sheets — it ain’t pretty, but I think it’s thorough. The attachment formatted as text is not easily read until pasted into a spreadsheet program for column separations.
(Those that show the full glove were marked N/A because “partial glove” was non-applicable. I was hoping to use “No” for ones that hid the upper glove without bugging, but that ended up being… none of them.)
tl;dr — Foefire Wraps flame/glow colors are super bugged when paired with glove-chopping chests

I’m replacing this comment as I’ve now edited and reposted it as a bug in the bugs forum’s “Issues with character art, weapons, or armor?”

I notice this same problem on my female sylvari. Foefire Wraps (Light) + Nightmare Court Robes = red flames and the channel 4 gem glow. These red flames occur only on the hands and only during night; the flames disappear entirely during the day while the gems continue glowing red. The gem part is subtle in my screenshots, but notice how the gems appear reddened instead of purple because the red glow is pulsing over them instead of using the channel 4 dye.
Despite what the wiki says, the flames aren’t getting removed entirely or 100% of the time with this top— which I’m glad for, I want the flames! Keep the flames! More flames! But being stuck on undyeable red, not so much. I don’t know enough about how these things are assembled to puzzle out why and how the glitch is occurring.
I’m hoping it will be possible to retain the flames with ALL tops AND make them dyeable. <3
ETA 1: These are all light tops that remove the upper glove and the flame color doesn’t draw from the glove’s dyes. This is all on a female sylvari with a pink (blush) glow.
3-channel where the flames inherit channel 3 of the top include: Cabalist, Country, Stately, Student
3-channel where the flames inherit channel 2 of the top include: Apostle, Heritage
3-channel where the flames inherit channel 1 of the top include: Exalted
4-channel where the flames are stuck on red include: Conjurer
2-channel where the flames are stuck on white/black: Diviner
2-channel where I’m not sure if the flames are coming from my blush glow color or stuck on pink include: Guild Archmage
(I’ll ETA again later with tops that I don’t have in wardrobe so I’m not sure of the number of channels and which channel they’re drawing from.)

Windows 7 Home Premium SP1
GW2 64-bit client
Started with Wintersday patch. General Options and Achievement Watch List reset after closing client but not when swapping characters. Tried starting a fresh local.dat after a suggestion in chat, but that didn’t change it.
I can’t progress in Hearts and Minds, either. After wearing down the Blighted Pale Tree, she disappeared. Activating the reality rift does nothing as a result.
I’ve found many glitches with my owned Outfits in both the in-game models and Hero Panel when I made changes underwater with the head slot toggled off. I saw some other posts that seemed related to this but they didn’t go into full details. It seems this may have been going on for over a year.
None of these glitches occurred upon initially taking a character underwater or logging in while underwater. They were initiated by making changes while underwater.
Testing Notes:
I don’t know when these glitches began or if they were present before any particular update because 11/22/2015 is when I noticed them personally. I own Exemplar, Noble Count, Royal Guard, Wedding, Cook’s, Bloody Prince’s, and Fancy Winter; therefore, I will not attempt to document anything based on previews of unowned Outfits. I reproduced these glitches in multiple locations on each of my characters to try to account for variables in race and armor weight. Thus, I confirmed that the glitches weren’t restricted to one individual character, one particular instance/location, or one combination of race/armor weight. I have only female characters, however, so I can only confirm the bugs on females. Also, the only race I have with all three armor weights is sylvari, so I can’t say if the glitches happen on all three armor weights for every race.
I tested primarily on the 64-bit client, but I also checked on my second lower-end computer running the 32-bit client to confirm that it wasn’t only the one computer and one client affected. I’m on Crystal Desert home server; I don’t think that’s a factor.
Tested characters: sylvari — level 80 necromancer, level 80 engineer, and level 31 revenant; norn — level 80 thief; human — level 42 mesmer; and asura — level 12 elementalist. All glitches occurred across all characters except for select differences noted below. All characters are female.
Tested locations include: The Grove, Dreamer’s Terrace, Caledon Forest, Lion’s Arch, Straits of Devastation, Eternal Battlegrounds
Hero Panel:
The Hero Panel displayed several glitched Outfits when I equipped them underwater and kept the Hero Panel open. With the head slot toggled off, the equipped aquatic headgear showed on the head. Texture from the aquatic headgear was replacing the texture on parts of bodice and skirt areas. With the head slot toggled on, the outfit’s mask would flash into place initially before getting replaced by the aquatic headgear. These texture and aquatic headgear glitched occurred on Fancy Winter, Bloody Prince’s, Cook’s, Wedding Attire. The Outfits’ headgears failed to equip on the Hero Panel when I toggled the head slot on. No apparent Hero Panel issues on Noble Count (which has no headgear) or Royal Guard regardless of toggling head slot on/off.
For above glitches, I could correct the texture and aquatic headgear’s appearance after changing Hero tabs multiple times, or by closing and reopening the Hero Panel. The Outfits’ headgears didn’t correctly appear when changing tabs, only after closing and reopening the Hero Panel. Also, the texture error wouldn’t occur when I didn’t have something equipped in the aquatic headgear slot.
Exceptions: my human level 42 mesmer did not have any of the Hero Panel glitches; my asura level 12 elementalist did not have Hero Panel texture glitches and did not have a glitched Hero Panel headgear for the Wedding Attire.
In-Game Models:
In-game models had even more glitches. The Outfits’ respective headgears correctly showed with the head slot toggled on. When I had head slot toggled off, a great many glitches occurred. Sometimes the in-game headgear disappeared for less than a second after toggling off head slot, and then reappeared as before; headgears consistently equipped and remained in-game when I had head slot off. When switching between Outfits with head slot toggled off, I noticed these further glitched pairings on the in-game model:
Royal Guard to Exemplar = both heads on Exemplar body
Royal Guard to Noble Count = Royal Guard head on Noble Count body
Royal Guard to Wedding = both heads on Wedding body (except on asura 12 elementalist)
Royal Guard to Bloody Prince’s = both heads on Bloody Prince’s body
Cook’s to Exemplar = both heads on Exemplar body
Cook’s to Noble Count = Cook’s head on Noble Count body
Cook’s to Wedding = both heads on Wedding body (except on asura 12 elementalist)
Cook’s to Bloody Prince’s = both heads on Bloody Prince’s body
Fancy Winter to Exemplar = both heads on Exemplar body
Fancy Winter to Noble Count = Fancy Winter head on Noble Count body
Fancy Winter to Wedding = both heads on Wedding body (except on asura 12 elementalist)
Fancy Winter to Bloody Prince’s = both heads on Bloody Prince’s body
Cook’s, Fancy Winter, and Royal Guard would show their correct headgears regardless of which outfit swaps I made, but this was still incorrect since the head slot was toggled off. The glitches occurred both with and without aquatic headgear equipped. Some additional glitches follow below:
On my asura 12 elementalist:
Wedding to Exemplar = Wedding head on Exemplar body
Wedding to Noble Count = Wedding head on Noble Count body
Wedding to Bloody Prince’s = Wedding head on Bloody Prince’s body
When the head slot was toggled on and I toggled the Outfit off to return to armor, the in-game model made the correct pairing of aquatic headgear and armor. When I toggled the Outfits off to return to armor and had the head slot toggled off, Outfit headgears appeared on my equipped armor along with the aquatic headgear. The following headgears appeared with the armor and aquatic headgear: Fancy Winter, Cook’s, Royal Guard. These Outfit headgears also remained if I changed between Outfits without toggling the Outfit back on, when I changed between my other Outfits and then toggled the Outfit off in the glitching patterns noted above (ex. Cook to Bloody Prince’s = Cook head on Bloody Prince’s body, then toggled off Bloody Prince’s Outfit and got Cook’s head with aquatic headgear and body armor), and also stayed in place when I toggled the head slot on and off. When I left the water, the aquatic headgear remained displayed until I changed to the equipment tab.
Based on this, it appears to me that after equipping an Outfit underwater with the head slot toggled off, certain Outfit headgears (Cook’s, Fancy Winter, and Royal Guard) will get “stuck on” the in-game model, both while wearing the Outfit and after changing back to armor, persisting after surfacing from underwater, sometimes with aquatic headgear included.
TL;DR: Water + Outfit + head slot off = bugapalooza

Sack the sack! SACK THE SACK!
Currently broken at 8/9 on Crystal Desert. I arrived at the broken event, don’t know when it started.
