I’m thinking here but…
Can’t we get Reaper Shroud on F2 instead, and keep Death Shroud on F1?
That way even if you’re using the reaper spec you can choose between melee and a ranged version, because….
The Reaper just get kited way way to easily, sometimes it would be nice to just have the option to chose good ol’ lifeblast.
IS there any race/gender combo that actually holds the scythe by its handle? Because so far I havent found a single one.
Honestly, I dont mind the size, what I do mind, is the fact that the only race who seems to actually hold the scythe in their hands, is humans, every other race isnt doing it, and sure you wont notice it unless you look at yourself from the front while in reaper, but once you do, it quickly becomes an eyesore.
I love it, but I do find it very hard to compete against classes with actual ranged options. I usally ran with staff in offhand to try and counter them, but that didnt realy work out, so started using scepter/dagger to try and CC them and get close.
I’m new to necro after falling in love with the reaper, so any tips from more seasoned PvP necros would be welcome.
Once I got close I had no issues handling pretty much anyone.
The only race/gender combo who gets away with it, is Charr Male, and only because their voice by default is kind of dark and gritty.
But yeah, the shouts need alot more force and ill intent behind them, I mean you have talented voice actors, just tell them what its ment to be.

The prize wont change, so you can give up on that point.
Also, if you honestly feel that 44 euros, or your regional equivalent, is to much for what is easily at the very least 100 hours of entertainment…. Then I have no words.
I buy games for PC and PS4 that often cost 50-70 euros and most of them last at most, 30 hours, and I usally stick to a 1 euro per hour mentality, so I only buy said games if I really enjoy them even tho they are so short.
MMO forums lately have been nothing about complaints here and there, and honestly expansions have always been priced between 30-45 euros, only lately DLC packs have been mixed up into this and those are way cheaper.
For what HoT is, its worth its price in time and quality, the beta weekends have proved that to me without a doubt.
And the argument that because a now 3 year old game went F2P, with about half the QoL as the normal core game, and that you already own the core game and thus should get it cheaper… I mean come on, if you’re a veteran you get a character slot worth 10 euro, aka the price becomes 34 euro instead.
Bottom line is, if you feel that 44 euro is to much money for an expansion that will provide tons of entertainment, then you probably would be wise to reconsider how you spend your money.
For me? It’s a no brainer, I will be playing it for at least 6 months if not a year, and for that ammount of time, 44 euros is nothing.
Well basically, I’m most likely going to use glint/jalis or glint/shiro, or shiro/jalis.
But that calculator doesnt have herald on it yet, so I havent had a chance to look things over properly.
This build was made after I read the change to maniacal persistance from 2% to 10%, meaning that with 35% crit, the cooldown on sigil of blood shouldnt reach any diminishing returns on it triggering.
The rest of the build is focused around maintaining a resonable damage output while providing high ammounts of self healing and solid defenses. Especially the changes tho shiro heal (with staff 5 this hits like a truck), and jalis hammers.
Now I’m not certain that dolyak runes are even remotely worth it, but I felt they fit the theme of the build.
And yeah, this is mostly aimed at WvW roaming and PvE exploration :P
Opinions?
Ebonflame Legion is a Fissure of Woe based guild, aka EU.
We do not partake much in WvW so our focus mostly lies on open world and PvE atm, starting to venture into PvP slowly.
We are atm 3 RL friends who are all relatively new to the game, aka 2 months. And since we would like to start tackling guild challanges (almost having unlocked bounties). We are now looking for more likeminded individuals. Voice chat and guild events will be certain to come, world bosses are downed several times a day as a guild and will continue to be so.
Now for the context, we arent looking for just ANYONE.
1. Bring a thick skin, we have a very dark sense of humor, but that is all it is, dark humor, we are very open and friendly people and we will always lend a helping hand or a patient ear if you need it. But I can’t stress this enough, if there are jokes you just cant handle, this probably isnt the guild for you.
2. Bring a dramafree attitude, if you start complaining, or treat anyone else in the guild poorly, you will be kicked, end of discussion. This is only applied if you’re the one who started the hostilities.
3. Be a teamplayer, if someone needs help do try to help out, and respect the trust given to you if you get access to the guild vault.
4. If you for any reason disagree with the guilds general attitude, we ask that you leave, if you feel that something is crossing the line, take it up with the 3 original members but our word is final and please respect that, the 3 original members are the only ones with the rank of tribune.
Now that all that boring stuff is out of the way, please do hit me up at any time ingame for questions or an invite.

First of all, this isnt a pre-order, it is a pre-PURCHASE, vastly different things in nature.
Secondly, this price that they are asking? Is bog standard today, look at the recent WoW expansion for example, which was utter kitten, it cost a wooping 60$.
The price tag is the same as any other AAA title expansion, only difference is, they’ve addded the core game for free.
gonna try and repair, and check for drivers, see if that works stuff out.
I get a very wierd bug that completely messes up how armor looks on characters, its only fixed by equipping an outfit and then removing or changing outfits.
Basically players look like they’re wearing mosaic, do I need to run a repair or did the patch screw something up?
Unranked has what… 5 minute ques? The rewards are decent, even if you lose, and the combat is fun.
I mean sure, if you’re the type of pvper that simply cant handle losing, fine, but otherwise? Get your feet wet kitten .
I mean, I am NOT good at pvp, but I would never touch hotjoin, I’ve read some descriptions and thats all I needed to read. Also, there hasnt been a single day when I havent been able to get my wins on the professions listed, sure it might take 4-5 matches sometimes but I get there and in the end it teaches me about general skill usage for multiple classes, makes me think about the builds on my alts to try and maximize my playstyle.
There are plenty enough dailies from PvE and WvWvW is you just want daily completion :S
First of it’s the internet, you’re never the only one.
Secondly, hell no, They should get the reveals out of the way atleast for specs so that people can plan ahead for HoT, I mean I for one will pick my HoT main based on how much I enjoy the core class + elite spec.
Also, the game needs HoT, it adds so much in terms of exploration and post 80 content.
I think you have slightly to narrowminded view of the professions of this game.
Longbow simply gave Guardian another range alternative to the scepter, along with a new playstyle with traps and all that. And the virtues were changed into more distance relevant versions.
You mention a warrior as a tank, but they arent really, sure they can be very tanky, but guardians do a better job of being a tank most of the time, where as warriors can for example provide alot of group utility in might stacks and banners and such.
The Reaper adds a more melee centric focus to the necromancer, something they previously only had in the dagger.
The Chronomancer adds tankiness to the mesmer, along with some silly new tricks thanks to resetting CDs.
The Dragonhunter gives the Guardian a more focused long range weapon, and it gives them some utility to keep enemies at range.
The Tempest provides group support, something I feel the elementalist already had plenty of, and some neat AoE effects, again something I feel they already had. As such I feel the tempest while conceptually cool, didnt really add much to the ele.
The Revenant fills the void of having a midrange heavy armor class who can adapt on the fly to the situation at hand, while either providing CC, Damage or support to the team.
All in all, everything Anet has added so far I feel really accents group dynamics beyond what we currently have, more tuning is needed, but they are def on the right track imo.
To the people saying that this isnt an important issue…
What are you even thinking? For new players coming into this game, not being able to do the final mission of the game is a huge turn-off, and GW2 needs new players to retain its playerbase.
I loved my personal story, every bit of it, and when I realized I’m finally there, time to take on zhaitan, and…. The mission is bugged, I was devastated, and when I hit the forums to notice this bug has been around for at least 2 weeks, it left a really sour taste in my mouth.
I have the living story season 2 unlocked, but I’m not touching that untill this mission is fixed, I like to do things in order, this is directly preventing me from doing so.
wat? I have never touched anything except ranked/unranked since I started the game, had no idea the dailies were more easily done in hotjoin either.
I think most players like me, who are relatively new, go for the unranked button, because that is literally the first thing that pops into your face as you enter pvp, I dont even know what hotjoin is :S
Trying to get through the storymode of various dungeons, but I’m finding it suprisingly hard to find enough people to do them…
I play on EU and currently trying to score a group for crucible of eternity, will welcome any and all helpers
<- Just rolled an asura thief after playing around with the beta all weekend.
Chronomancer was neat, but it doesnt fit the bill for me personally. Sure, thief might not be the “best” for quite a few things atm, but its the only profession to fill the stabby stabby sneaky fantasy, also… The special dodge that they get, while a minimal thing is awesome.
Sure this is mostly down to my personal taste, and yeah chronomancer CAN get longer stealth than thief, but I just downright prefer the playstyle of the thief to that of the chronomancer any day of the week.
I just have… no words, been enjoying the personal story something immensly, only to reach this bug and then to learn it has existed for atleast 2 weeks?
This is something that should’ve been hotfixed the day after it was reported, not 2 weeks later :S
Note the wording “for bows”, he said nothing about comparing it to elementalists.
In fact this entire thread is about Dragonhunter vs Ranger Longbow :S
Since I have no idea on how to quote on this forum…
@Holland.9351
Well, no matter how I tested it, it did not feel that way at all, I was interested in the dragonhunter for exactly the reasons you listed, but with full zerker gear and traits focused on damage, the ranger still outperformed the Dragonhunter by a far margin for me, and I tried several other configurations, in the end as someone who loves bows, I just couldnt find the motivation to play a Dragonhunter over a ranger, despite my dislike of pets, ranger just did everything better :/
Basically if you play the dragonhunter to its fantasy, aka longbow with trap focus.
And you then do the exact same thing with a ranger, aka Longbow with trap focus.
The ranger will come out on top, it’s just better in every possible scenario.
At first I loved it and was instantly taken by its shiny effects and all that came with it, then I started to look deeper.
First thing I did was compare it to ranger longbow and warrior longbow, just to see how it matched up. I found that Warrior longbow wasnt really in the same range as it filled a different role, so I scratched that from the comparison.
Now, as for the Ranger Longbow vs Guardian Longbow, I found the ranger version to in every single way, be better than the dragonhunter, shorter cooldowns, better damage, better trait synergy, and if you equipped two longbows you could get some really sweet CD reductions going on.
For example, the skill 5 on dragonhunter is practicall the same skill as the skill 5 on ranger longbow, except it has 20 seconds longer CD for an immobalize that requires the enemy to be in the area of effect when it ends… Not always the easiest thing to ensure, dmg wise they appeared roughly equal so no real complaints there, also the dragonhunter version is amazingly stunning to look at.
The nr 2 ability, true shot vs barrage, basically the ranger version does roughly twice the damage, but it also takes about twice as long to channel, however, it is usable while moving, which coupled with cripple traits for longbow, makes it quite abit more usefull than the dragonhunters true shot.
True shot, while I love the short CD and the nice damage of it, it does root you, it has to fire twice within 8 seconds to match a rangers barrage. But despite this, I really think this ability is in a good spot atm.
Auto attacks… Oh boy, even at the shortest distance, the rangers auto does more dmg, and it pierces (if you spec into full longbow mode), the Dragonhunter one bounces, which while amazing for groups, means its damage is very… meh, at single target encounters.
And I mean for a spec designed to hunte these huge dragons in the jungle, why is its single target so meh?
Also, lets move on to the traps, the traps of the dragonhunter are all pretty much power based, compared to the rangers more condition focus, that said, traited ranger traps have CDs below 20s and I think one or two above 20s but below 30s, the shortest CD on dragonhunter, was 25s, with a few going up to kitten .
They are just to long, traps are hard to use as it is, having such long cooldowns is not fun utility gameplay.
That said, they are very graphically pleasing, really amazing effects.
But to try and close things off, I feel that while the dragonhunter is cool, everything it sets out to do as a ranged attacker, a ranger can do better. And for an elite spec to lose out to a core ranger, it doesnt feel right.
I mean, arent the elite specs supposed to be you know…. Elite at their role? And as a ranged dmg dealer and trapper, Dragonhunter just isnt up there.
Also the virtues need to be able to activate while you are doing other things, currently, they are cool, but not all that practical due to this, also the wings? Give it ABIT more range will you? It hardly feels like a leap worthy of wings atm….
I’m a by far not a hardcore gamer, I play this game mainly for open world pve, exploration and such…
And as soon as the game pointed out the trait system to me as well as the build system, I started using it, sure it took me getting to level 80 and alot of reading through the traits and finding ones that worked together.
But I figured it out in time, stop dumbing down a game just because a small percentage doesnt realize that the big glowing button is worth checking out, or cant be bothered to read through some minute volumes of text to try and find some synergies.
That said, anything in the open world, can be defeated using no traits at all, it wont be optimal, it wont be at all times a fun experiance because you lack substantial power, but it is possible.
And if players are pushed back by “deeper” gameplay, they probably should stay clear of RPGs, because they are built on deeper gameplay, such as character customization.
Honestly, everything you’ve described here is a non-issue. If GW2 didnt have the build variety the trait system allows for, I would’ve never stuck to it, it would’ve gotten boring REAL FAST. Half the game is getting to 80, the other half is figuring out stats and builds to venture into fractals and the like, or to try your hand at PvP.
As many have said, you only need to do 3 dailies, not all of them to get the daily reward.
I usally do a combination of pvp and pve, depending on what is quicker to achieve, that way, I have it out of the way and can go about my random buisness elsewhere.
Update my ticket? I was only told to contact them again, which I have done, but since it took them 3 days to just reply last time… It doesnt exactly fill me with hope, cant they just enter my account and remove the character? Its completely naked and has nothing of value on it…. Since I apparently cant do it.
Yeah no, that just made him very naked, didnt change anything.
So at the 3rd of august I posted a support ticket, because I was unable to delete my character, entered name, pressed delete, box went away, character remained.
on the 6th of august i receive this
“Thank you for contacting our team about a game issue that you experienced. The Guild Wars 2 Development Team already fix this inconvenience. Please try again, and let us know if you are able to delete the character.”
It is now the 8th of august, and the character is still unable to be deleted, this despite me having been able to create AND delete several other characters during this time period, but ONE single character, remains unable to be deleted.
I did not wait 3 days to receive a message telling me that something which clearly isnt fixed, is fixed, I’ve been trying to delete this character daily for almost a week now, and nothing works.
So its been 3 days, without a single word.
I still have a character slot that I payed for and cannot use because the character in it I have no interest in playing.
It’s only this one character, I’ve been able to delete and remake others, but this one slot wont budge.
Can we please get an update on this? I mean I bought that character slot, I’d like to use it…. I dont understand why 1 character of the 5 i wanted to delete isnt deletable :S
Im stuck with the same issue, except its only affecting one character.
Had a bunch of old ones and decided to clean it up abit, all of them except one deleted just fine :S
you’re getting your moneys worth, but it is slightly dated.
Not by any means a weak machine, but if you want gw2 to run smoothly on ultra and for future games as well… I’d look for something abit more powerfull.
8gb of ram isnt exactly ideal, I’d aim for 16, but this you can just purchase on your own.
The graphics card is tested and solid, but again I’d opt for something abit higher, it will do the job, no question, but in a few years games will start to tax it.
All in all, the computer is worth the price they’re asking, at least as far as my country is concerned, and it’s a deffinite upgrade over a laptop xD
One important thing that multiple people have mentioned is that the nvidia default driver that gets installed with win10 isnt working properly, so remove that and re-install it.
Apparently this has fixed alot of issues for some people.
What? Seriously? That is really lackluster if that is the case…
I expected atleast 5-7 new sets for each armor class :c
Wow, every single profession forum has one of these threads complaining that their class lacks identity, or are outperformed (okay elementalist is tempest QQ and Mesmer is jus roflstomp).
I’ve not really felt useless on any class so far :P
1. The trailer shows the druid with a pet using some sort of charged up vineblast.
2. This isnt WoW or DnD, Shapeshifters are norns.
3. Read up on GW druids on their wiki, they have very little to do with animals, if they get a shapeshift it is into some sort of treeform :P
Wierd title? Hear me out….
I love mage types, always have, especially necromancers.
I’m currently playing gw1 with a less than optimal build, but it works… Regardless, I feel like a caster, I have my staff and I have my spells and I have my combos…
GW2? Staff, Scepter… That’s the limit of the true caster weapons, daggers are used as melee instead of something along the line of a sacrifical knife focus (which is what I first expected from necro dagger tbh), focuses are also pretty ok, albeit riddled with some meh skills at times.
I get that GW2 seems to be designed around teambased pvp combat, the skills and skillsystem reflects that heavily… But the combat FEELS amazing, the game is gorgeous and I just love getting sidetracked into a gazzillion events.
So it really saddens me that the lack of true caster feel is so apparent.
Staves seems entirely regulated to a support role, with a few exceptions but still…
Elementalist fire staff is probably the only staff skillline even close to being a true caster, but outside of pvp you only use 3 skills, 4 if your dodge roll is on cd and you need to get out of a smash.
The utility skills? I love the arcane blasts, but I cant deny the difference in damage when you use frostbow, glyph of storms (which I dont mind btw, except the hefty CD), etc…
The elementalist elites are again very… Meh, glyph of elementals is the only one I truly feel as a caster with and rarely does it get its full use except for bosses here and there..
Now the scepter? Honestly the scepter would be great if only a few things changed, make shatterstone stick to the target its cast at, not a ground target aoe with 2 seconds to detonate, make dragon tooth also stick to the target its cast at, and change the fire autoattack, because unless you stack condition dmg it does a pitiful ammount of dmg.. And I’ve not seen a condition elementalist yet, in fact the ones I see mostly run D/D…. Which is not why I wanted to play a caster.
Now, the necromancer, honestly I dont mind how the staff works in general, if scepter was a better caster weapon, the only way it works for me is to use corruptions, pass said corruptions to my target then use scepter 3 to deal dmg while stacking conditions with scepter 1…. And it still feels very meh…
Axe? I love how they made this a caster weapon, I dont love how meh it is…. The animations are great, the dmg… not so much.
Greatsword and reaper? I approve, a true in your face sort of shadow knight/ spellsword feel, I honestly have no complaints about it.
And then.. the Mesmer, greatsword feels like a caster weapon and works like one, so I cant say it doesnt have a true caster role…. it’s just that I wish that staff and scepter would support it more.
In short, I’m honestly hoping that druid will not just be another kitten staff support spec, and if it isnt, I know what I will be maining for my caster main.
So I recently got back into gw1 playing an elementalist and loving it, so I decided to go for some continuity and make him in GW2 as well.
However looking over the skills availble to elementalist I’m only really interested in the scepter, and from what I can tell going condition damage seems to buff it quite a bit (only tested it with pvp equipment so far).
How viable is something along these lines?
Or should I go for a powerbased build instead?
So I’ve just made my new little joy, an Asura Necromancer..
Problem is, I have a hard time figuring out what weapon to level with, axe skill nr 2 seems to hit decently hard but when I look at traits it seems abit lackluster almost.
I was pondering daggers, as I plan to go reaper in the expansion so I tought maybe getting used to playing a melee would do me well..
Anyhow, any and all tips are very much so welcome
Simply put, me and a friend made a guild to try and see if we can build a nice and friendly teamplay oriented environment.
And tbh, I would love to see more people
Neither me or him are at level 80 yet, nor are we well versed in this game what so ever, but we’ve found a well respected love for GW2 over the last 2 weeks and atleast I have now decided to want to delve into all this game has to offer, and I feel that a solid guild is needed for that.
We are very much aiming for the top end of PvE content with both him and me having extensive experiance from other MMOs as far as coordination, teamplay, raiding etc is concerned.
But right now I’m looking for social and active individuals, fresh as well as old it doesnt matter, what matters is that you have a positive attitude and that you have the will to help us make this guild into it’s own awesome little community.
Feel free to contact me at any time that I’m online or reply to this thread, I play atleast a few hours every day unless I’m off working which can from times be a full week at a time, but such occurances are rare.
So to summarise,
- New Guild, New players
- Social, Friendly and notolerance for toxic behaviour
- Willing to push as far into high end content as possible, both PvE, PvP and WvW.
- Based on Fissure of Woe (yes i know, I’ve seen the comments online about it being bottom tier)
And again, anyone is welcome, wouldnt at all mind a few veterans to pepper with questions haha
Thanks for your time
Well I get into the heart of the mists for like 2 seconds, then I get instantly ported back in there. Only thing I can currently play is the starter areas, soon as Im done I get booted into pvp.
Yupp, I’m now stuck in a pvp match on my level 1 charr, despite him not even being the character in the match in the first place….
Please sort it out asap.
