Let me know what you find, Xyonon. I used in the halloween labby and saw one 20k, and a few 14ks…BUT, I also saw a ton of just 7k and 6ks, which is way too low considering the bosses probably had close to almost every condition. It shoulda been more like solid 11ks and then some 15k crits.
nope, and I tried to get it to the same value I usually see but couldn’t make it break 760 as the listed value.
Hi all,
The listed damage value for me, as a glass phantasm mesmer, was always about 955, higher in damage than say, power spike. Sometimes with stacks I want to say its damage was over 1k.
The value is now 655. But, the damage doesn’t really seem down that much…I wonder if it’s a tool tip error. I don’t know, it’s hard to tell.
Oddly though, the warlock seems to be critting less often too (it’s strange to see infrequent crits with 50% crit chance from items, fury from staff, and 20% phantasm crit, so 90%ish chance).
Let me know if anyone else noticed the listed damage and/or actual damage change, or if I’m mistaken.
I just want my iWarlock to hit if the target is strafing….I collected some funny footage of 3 warlocks trying to nuke my friend in spvp who was just strafing back and forth like a foot. wif…wif…wif…..
I’ll try to post it soon.
Thanks for sharing your results. Hopefully they up the phantasm damage to bring it in line with ascended gear at some point.
Yeah dude, I agree. Condi is just slow dmg and especially slow if they aren’t attacking you or using abilities.
I’ve been running pure glass GS and either staff or sword/pistol lately, I like it much better than condi. I’ve been running 30/15/0/25/0 and using Power Spike. Really nice burst.
My only complaint is about the darned iWarlock in the other thread I made today. lol
The answer to this hypothetical question is No, unfortunately. At condi, you can tie an extremely pro thief, but you won’t kill each other.
As power phantasm, if they’re smart (95% of them aren’t) they will take time to reappear and 1-shot your phantasms. You eventually won’t have decoy/blink/other defensives up and they will kill you.
Most thief die easily though, so don’t worry about it too much. I still regard it as balanced enough. They don’t have the opportunity to really do that in group fights. While they’re harassing you, you and your phantasms can still drop amazing damage on their teammates.
It really seems like this poor phantasm can’t hit the broad side of a barn sometimes, lol. I’m hoping they might address this in the balance patch. Sometimes he’ll just straight up miss players, even if the target isn’t dodging or moving particularly fast.
The damage is fine, casting time is fine, range is fine. But I just wish the nuke hit reliably, with the accuracy of say, iDuelist’s projectiles. Not sure why some phantasms should be much more accurate than others.
Suggested fixes:
-greatly increase projectile speed of its nuke and/or the homing abilities of the nuke. I’d be envisioning it like my ele’s arcane blast.
or
-change its nuke from a projectile to just a regular nuke, similar to power spike mantra. It would need a pronounced casting animation so players have the opportunity to dodge it.
Wow great test, Scizzor.
In the future I will copy what you did and just use the 1 hit phantasm, and strip all my traits, etc. I think there was too much variation muddling my data using my typical phantasms, izerker and duelist.
Thanks so much. I <3 clear and direct data. Glad to know bloodlust helps!! Viva la phantasms!
Scissor,
I’m aware of the logic behind why bloodlust stacks should work…but when I have tested it they didn’t affect my poor phantasms. The different between 250 power and not 250 power should be quite obvious when looking at average amounts of damage. I didn’t see any change. And I was able to see a difference between just switching off boots and no boots, roughly 25ish power. I still stack up to 250 anyway though just for my direct damage, before I unequip the stack-building weapon.
Anyway, hoping to see at least a little boost from the ascended weapon damage, but from what you’re saying I certainly shouldn’t expect much I guess.
Hey Pyro, that’s good to hear that the orb buff works. I was worried it’d work like bloodlust sigil which (I don’t think) affects them?
Keep me posted on the increased weapon damage. It’s possible it’s so slight it wouldn’t matter/be apparent, but at least we get ~ 20 more power.
Also, do we know whether Guard Leech x5 affects phants?
Ty.
Hey all,
Does the new ruins/orb buff (150 power at max) transfer to phantasms? Also, does the extra weapon damage on ascended weapons affect phantasms or do they use their own weapon?
Please only answer if you’ve actually tested it. No theorycrafting ;p. Have been condi for a while, thinking about going back to phant dmg though.

Ok, I’m wrong about might stacking. Average with no might over 10 tests was 3.9 for izerker, 4.75 with 7x might. That’s cool! I probably hadn’t tested it with enough might when I tried it long ago.
I did just test the crit dmg stuff the other day tho. Saw an increase with runes and with gear. Again, I’d be happy to learn I was wrong and had been using a wasted stat.
I’d be delighted to be proven wrong because that would mean I can increase the damage of phantasm more and/or replace my crit damage gear with toughness or something. Again, when I held everything constant but some crit damage, I saw an increase in phantasm damage. Let’s see some SSs or tests/averages.
In terms of might, with full glass cannon and 0 might my izerker hits for around 7-8k on lvl 80 glass targets in WvW. If your might transfers to your phantasm and you have 25 stacks, you should be seeing 11k+ zerker swings. Is that right?
Hello Xel,
I disagree with your analysis. Crit damage does affect phantasm damage by every test I’ve ran. If you test it, make sure to hold everything else constant and average the numbers over like 20 phantasm swings.
However, what doesn’t affect phantasm damage is you having Might or stacks of bloodlust. Anything that adds a “green” buff in your stat window instead of “white, stats” buff doesn’t transfer to phantasms. So, I don’t see the point in stacking might.
My recommendation is stack as much power as possible because that seems to best impact phant damage. I’d recommend 5x scholar and 1x any 25 power rune.
Hi all,
Made a tpvp video from some of our team’s close, high-rated games. I did a lot of fun/unusual editing too. When I heard about Mesmers when the game came out, I immediately though of Jean Grey, hence the X-Men theme.
Sorry the quality is bad btw, but it’s the best this really old computer I have can do. I play on minimum settings.
Phantasm is the build (waiting for the no-skill comments, lol). Regardless of whether it’s hard to play, I just really wanted to play a high damage, 1200 range caster. This was the closest I could get. Only diff between the vid and now is I’m using centaur runes for speed. The build is holding up well in solo queue so far too (rank 35oish). Hope you enjoy.
yay some1 watched it lol. Any constructive feedback on play style is welcome, I know you’re super high rated, Kavia. I’m sorta casual but I like to try and get better. Can pm me.

Hi all,
It strikes me as a discrepancy that having 25 stacks of bloodlust or whatever else doesn’t increase phantasm damage.
I think a cool solution would be a Summoning Sigil, that increased illusion/minion/companion damage by 250 at 25 stacks.
The sigils just seem to be really weak for phantasm builds in general, for example the +5% damage one, Force, doesn’t help. And neither does Might.
I’m wondering if Guard Leeching stacks from WvW is a green buff like sigils/might (won’t help phantasms) or just a regular buff to power (will affect phantasms)?
Although I’m happy with my phantasm build and it’s definitely strong, I think there should be a few more options to up their damage in keeping with how much those sigils/buffs help other classes/builds do absurd damage in WvW.
Any thoughts?
Hi all,
Just wanting to assess the viability of pure glass cannon ranged mesmer. Currently playing mantra build with greatsword and scepter/pistol. Our team is in the 85% range.
Anyone else playing a similar build with success?
Love this build for wvw and pve. Phenomenal single target ranged damage, but low survivability and low aoe. Can down people within a few seconds in team fights.
Gimmicky, I know. I’ve tried the sword builds and staff builds hehe. They’re powerful in their own way, just not interested in playing that style though.
If you’re playing a non-shatter, non-blurred frenzy setup, let me know. Post a video link if possible too.

Hi all,
I was playing around with Necro runes in the Mists and sPvP and noticed something. +Condition duration runes, such as Superior Rune of Lyssa and Superior Rune of the Nightmare, etc., do not do anything for condition duration.
I was looking at a 10 sec (baseline) bleed, with no gear on it was 10 seconds when I hovered over the debuff on the mob (and counted to 10) it was 10 seconds. Now, when I put 26% condition duration runes on, it was still 10 seconds…It should be more like 12.5 secs.
Furthermore, the stat window in the character screen does not update. Nor does the tooltip on the action bar reflect the increased duration.
Note: This is in contrast to when we spend points in our + condition duration tree (Spite). That DOES update and DOES work.
If I’m missing something, let me know. If this should go under the sPvP forum, let me know as well.
Yeah I meant tPvP. I missed the memo about referring to 8v8 as spvp and 5v5 as tpvp. I don’t use the forums much actually.
And yeah, balance d/d ele ftw!
Oooh it’s the 3 people from the podcast, how fun! Thanks for your replies, the info has been noted.
Some responses to the podcast:
First of all, thanks for putting that together, it was great fun to listen to and informative!
Harumph @ whoever said D/D eles in PVT do no dmg ;p, the part of me that’s still an ele (and not yet a necro) takes great umbrage at that! Remember, melee-range abilities on average hit way harder than ranged-ranged. Running sharpening stones to turn get power from T & V helps, as does having 250 power from the sigil. I am just potentially rerolling because I want to be a RANGED caster, not a light tank. And staff eles…lol, /shakes head.
So, I guess I’m surprised to hear so many people struggling with thieves. I’ve only played necro for 2 days in sPvP, with the MMR where my Ele’s was, and I was close to beating them and got some to downed-state. That’s pretty good considering I didn’t have full lifeforce when I fought them and I don’t really know what I’m doing (like at all). I can’t see them being that bad in WvW.
At minimum, once DS/heal/dodge are used up, can’t you just pop our cloud elite and wait for a teammate to help you?
Also, I liked how you guys mentioned if the fight goes south, we’re screwed. I have been mentally psyching myself to die instead of RTLing away to safety, lol.
BUT, I read about the norn snow leopard elite. Let’s assume I could happily get by not having bone fiend/cloud/lich form, wouldn’t that be a viable escape for roaming?
Thanks again. I love our GW2 community.
Hi all, new to Necro. Feel free to answer any or all. My focus is WvW and sPvP.
When you draw conditions on to yourself (plague sig), and then reapply them to an enemy, do they do damage based on YOUR condition damage or the condition damage of the opponent who gave them to your teammates?
Does plague signet take 1 condition from EACH ally every 10 seconds? Or only from 1 ally every 10 seconds?
At max life force, how much damage does Deathshroud absorb?
Is the damage you take in DS still mitigated by your toughness?
Is maximum hp in DS related in any way to your vitality? (guessing not, only life force).
During the FIRST encounter of a sPvP map, what are some fast ways to build lifeforce in sPVP as condition-mancer, so that I don’t get into too much trouble?
Wiki states corrupt boon turns aegis into burning, but the corrupt boon would really be blocked if they had aegis up right?
Thanks in advance if anyone takes time to answer. I will probably come up with more questions very soon, heheh.
