Guardian death countdown (is over were dead)

I’m at a huge loss now after this patch.
I’ve always kidn of played my guardian my own way.. From Zerk/Hybrid/to my now Full healing build (2k healing power ;D). But now in both PvE/PvP I’m finding myself weaker in every aspect after the new patch. I can’t help but wonder what is the role of the guardian now. What can I do special/better then another class. I’m getting really short on answers now =/

Can I use the Immersive Combat Mode mod?

sigh Well, just in case, then, I’ll rebind a few keys and play with that until I find out if people have actually been banned for using this or not.

Really, though, it’s unintuitive. Talk about wrist strain. =\

Hi there, I logged in just to simply say that I’ve spoken before in-game with a GM, as well as looked up extensively if I was allowed to use Combat mod.

That was about halfway in Season 1 ;P I’ve used it everyday since and simply could not play the game without it. So long as you have the right settings. The idea that combat mod gives an advantage is very false as well, especially the larger amount of players are on screen. Some skills simply won’t work with it! But that said, it is very immersive and super enjoyable to play with, and just makes me appreciate the world through my characters eyes all the more! Could never play without.

So go ahead, turn it on and don’t look back.

fractals leaderboards are a joke

What I simply don’t understand in this update is even the NEED (ignore the point of) of/for leader boards in a MMO setting… even more so that these leader boards aren’t even in-game. Who honestly wants to go out of game to check the website for these things? If the game had “World first” progression style content like WoW, I could understand the point.. but this just feels like a feature added simply to say “look what we have!” and then let it be thrown out the proverbial development window.

Permeating Wrath: Does anyone use this?

Check out the sticked thread. It’s covered quite well there. Permeating Wrath is not for the uninitiated in WvW. It has little value outside of that game element.

I Checked out what you said, It seems that this is indeed covering a bit of what I wanted to talk about, though I am still curious if anyone had any suggestions as to where it could be moved to, what people could build if it WAS moved?

I like the Idea of AoE fire boon removal when combined with out talents, but even that seems.. Limited in scope.

So after a lot of trial and error that ended in failure, and asking around at a few guardian friends in-game (who surprisingly didn’t even know what trait I was talking about!) I wanted to know if anyone has any builds that are based around, utilize, or incorporate Permeating Wrath & if not, why not? I’ed also love to know if there are any suggestions anyone might have that would make this trait more useful in the future?

My own belief is that it simply is to far away in the zeal trait-line to get a good ratio of actual DPS and burning effect out of it without losing some other massively useful trait.

What’s yours?

Virtue of Justice’s passive effect no longer burns your target, but instead burns the area around you each time it activates.

what I -really- don’t understand about this update, is 100,000 pieces of candy corns is over 400 slots of inventory spaces.

It’s almost a bit of a joke >_>

Caithe's Secret. The murder of Snaff.

After going through all of the new update and hearing all the voice files and reading a few things online, I think I’ve figured out Caithe’s “secret”.

I believed she is the main reason Snaff died, infact.. I believe she flat out killed Snaff as a long-term means to an end.

I was curious as to what others might think about this theory? (And partly because this is the only secret that even has a chance of compelling me to care about this story at this point >_<)

I really loved the effort you put into this post, and that you attempted and tried to make an intelligent argument about both SB and her fate..but honestly… I just feel as though speculating is just so outlandishly wild and no longer fun, because the story never ACTUALLY delivers any compelling evidence on ANYTHING, that it isn’t even worth speculating about anymore.

I ask, what was more fun..speculating about the whole Ellen Kiel vs Gnash thing, or it actually happening? What was more fun, Speculating about SB Or her actually doing her thing? Speculating is always more fun… and because of this, its no longer.. fun to speculate. Shame really.

Scarlet events ppl failing it to farm champs

Alright, so you can do some of the achievements, but it doesn’t address the larger problem of the games design philosophy. Zergs need to stop by design (which is obvious) but more importantly, the game needs to not be about simply farming champions. There is a larger issue at hand here then just this simple event.

As others have said. There is no benefit in completing the invasion. The world does not change etc. If people want to farm the champions so be it. What difference does that make to those that do not want to? How is it effecting your fun?

This isn’t as true as you think it is, because many people are unable to finish the map theorems do to other people ‘choosing’ to farm rather then complete the “invasion” as one would suspect. Thus because of this.. other people can not enter scarlet’s playhouse or re-enter into the pavilion. I have been on a few maps myself where people had said to only farm champions rather then finishing the map.

An organized complaint.

The Human-Centaur war is over. You went to harathi highlands, killed Ulgoth, and smashed them back over the pass. Before you killed Zhaitan, natch.

I don’t wish to get into the mess that is this release both lore wise and mechanic wise, but I do want to reply to your comment. It really shows the ultimate failing of what arena net calls a “living story”. Let me ask you, how do you know the Human-Centaur war is over? What proof do you have about this? What area did you concur that drove out all the centaurs from human regions and brought them to their ultimate end? Or what raid boss/instanced boss did you defeat that proclaimed himself the leader of the centaur? None.

For all I know, the centaur war is still going on. In this “living” world centaurs are still raiding, pillaging, and attacking in places they NO longer should be, NPC’s still talk about the attacks, events still trigger OF the attacks. How can one possibly understand where to be at in the lore of this game at any given time? It’s beyond the scope of this game to be able to convincingly point out that what you do, or any of us do, has any effect on the world. Don’t get me wrong.. I’m not guild wars bashing, but as far as I understand it (and i’m barely hanging by a thread at this point) Zhatain has been slain for two years and all events happening now are well after his death. The amount of lore miscommunication, and the inability to bring the story to the players is disappointing.

That’s all I wish to say.

Jeez guys. The events are happening every hour for a couple of weeks, but you missed the first so it’s bad game design? Owch.

Your comment irritated me, so I had to respond to it.
Simply put, yes it is bad game design, you want to know why?

Lets say you go to a theme park and you intend to go on the new ride they have been hyping up for two weeks, when you arrive the line is so long that you have to wait for HOURS to even be able to get on the ride.

That makes sense in real life, but in a game world? No. You shouldn’t have to wait HOURS in line to get on the new ride, it should be available from the start of when it was released unless there is a long quest chain interfering with it. It’s not fun to stand in line for hours, or hope that people will let you cut in front of them.

Marjory is really beautiful.

Yeah.. I can’t help but say the opposite.

Her personality doesn’t match her face, her voice doesn’t match her face.. I give her credit for being one of the rare NPC female humans that has a decently sensible fantasy armor.. but aside from that I feel that everything isn’t ‘right’.

Yes. I’m aware of that. I’m just tired of people getting bent out of shape over things not always going 100% according to plan and immediately jumping to conclusions based on absolutely no information.

I understand your frustrations, but it doesn’t serve any good by responding in the way that you did. People have honest concerns, let them have their concerns.

You do know this is a game, right?

You know that Anet is actually a business right? A place where people work to do things on top and properly, not just throwing out Quality control for the “it’s just a game” adage?

Spirit weapons...What are those again?

Slightly useful in a zerg when some folks don’t pay attention to the fact you ordered Hammer to smack them down.
In PvE they are useful meatshields if traited right, but yes they will die quickly if grouped on. That just means I and the weapon put damage into some creature I can finish off after it kills my weapon.

All that attention on the weapon spares me from losing health. So they do have possibilities, but for certain situations.

I’m sorry but I have to disagree with you, they are hardly in anyway meatshields for PvE.. Unless you are counting normal mobs (I.E World mobs) rather then anything in a dungeon, then they are in no way a meatshield. They die in 1-2 hits in most dungeons if they are even targeted.

I had tried using some Spirit weapons in TA just last night, I used hammer and sword ( I am fully traited clerics as a healer) and despite the nice benefit of being able to stack might onto my sword, It was still doing utterly laughable damage, which was before it would get one or two shotted by various spider mobs however.

I don’t think it should be accepted however, for us to have a knockdown once every 60 seconds which if killed, won’t even work. With the amount of AoE I’ve seen in sPvP and WvW.. I can /never/ get my spirit weapons to last more then a few seconds at best.

As an avid guardian, and sPvPer.. WvWer.. PvXer.. and about anything that you can add on with an “er” in relation to the game, I have found myself wondering the point of Spirit weapons in the game as of late.

Now, don’t get me wrong.. I’ve tried -many- builds, I’ve been in hundreds of situations where I’ve tried to maximize and use them to their utmost ‘best’. I’ve specced for them, I’ve geared for them (full power, as it’s the only thing that effects their damage) Hell.. I’ve even tried not speccing for them and using them.

But I just can’t find a simple reason aside from one instance in the entire game(fractals, harpy, shield).. to use Spirit weapons.

They get near one-shotted in almost all PvX instances, they do little to no damage, the CD’s are almost insane, their utility is absolutely pointless (Bow of truth’s 1 condition removal every 5 seconds) the list goes on and on.. I find it sad, as I love the idea of having a REAL ‘pet’ type summon for the guardian.

So forum, I’m not above admitting defeat.. I have over 1,000 hours logged on my guardian, and I can’t think of ANY possible way to make spirit weapons viable for.. well.. Anything.

So, I ask for either your support, or perhaps even an idea to make spirit weapons in anyway viable.
