I am trying to score points (and I know others who do as well).

One thing I have always liked about WvW is there are a lot of different ways to play and I have never viewed any of them as wrong.

Let's have a WvW Tournament (or 5) in 2017!

Hi all,

Unless I am missing something there were 5 PvP tournaments in 2016 and 0 WvW Tournaments. In fact, the last time there was a WvW tournament was in 2014 which means we have gone over 2 full years since our last WvW tournament. I would really love to see a WvW Tournament (or 5) in 2017.

And yes, I am aware of all of the problems related to balance and servers/guilds trying to manipulate their ways into a win. I have been on Ferguson’s Crosssing since release and never came close to wining a WvW Tournament. However, It is fun to compete and I would really like that opportunity in 2017.

I also understand that things are still changing in WvW but that doesn’t matter. MMO’s are dynamic by their nature and no matter how much it might seem like “ok, this is the way things are” it will change again. Look at all of the skill adjustments since release. Or just look at the PvP specific skills for this PvP season. Things are always changing and if we wait until things are “perfect” in WvW then we will wait forever.

There is a lot to be said for trying to get a tough second place and now that has no value.

Golems unusable - Travel Runes don't work

I have been playing WvW very seriously for a couple of years now and I REALLY like to use golems. On the old maps with Travelers runes an Omega golem could keep up well enough to be playable. On the new maps it has been very questionable whether or not they are worthwhile due to the extra spacing.

Today, I was tagged up and leading a small group. We built an Omega and I hopped in only to find out that I was very slow in my traveler runes. Took the two nearby towers – with multiple Mesmer ports to help me move. Then I abandoned the golem as too slow and went on to take two keeps (with the help of [MAKI]) and another tower without it. After the caps, I tagged down and went back to experiment with the golem. I confirmed that the speed of the golem was the same with or without the traveler runes. I also confirmed that damage still scales with power so not all effects from my gear has been removed. Just the increased speed.

Unless I have a dedicated team of mesmers I don’t that I can justify building golems at this point. Perhaps in EBG but certainly not in the borderlands. There is no way to know if Anet intended this or not. (I just re-read the most recent patch notes and couldn’t find it mentioned). What I do know is that I don’t like it and hope that they change it back.

Prior to HoT I mostly played WvW. Since HoT I have been mostly farming materials for the guild hall and only occasionally playing WvW. I have not enjoyed the new maps but have worked hard to learn them and hope that they will grow on me. My focus for the last month (and the next month) is to get +5 for the guild. At this point I am not sure how much of a WvW there will to go back to at that point.

My vote is don’t merge servers. If you want to change servers then go ahead and do so. I like my server and don’t want it combined with another.

WvW Daily's

I just went to NE corner, found a veteran Wyvern. Killed it. It seemed disinterested in giving me a daily reward in return. On the old maps it was an EVENT of killing a veteran creature that gave the reward. No signs of a Veteran Wyvern related event.

Eight days ago a dev said that they were aware of the problem and in his words said “This daily is no longer possible. Yes, we need to fix the fact achievement still shows up as a Daily. The same is true for the WvW Veteran Slayer achievement”.

Repeated Crashes this morning - Network Error

Multiple times this morning GW2 has crashed. Each time it is giving me the following message.

Network error
Please check your internet connection and try again
(Code=1083:5:7:1595:101)

When it happened earlier I couldn’t get back in at all (same error message) until I rebooted my computer. This seems to be the case again and I will try to reboot in a minute to see if I can get back in after that.

Scribing 50 to 75?

I just hit scribing level 50 and getting to 75 seems VERY hard. It is all guild hall decoration related and though we have the decorator I am not far enough in the story to have the ascended stuff needed to buy from the decorator.

Any advice on how to advance my scribing?

They chose centaurs because centaurs are a WvW foe and they wanted us to kill stuff in WvW to get our guild hall upgrades. Then when they changed maps they left centaurs out and didn’t notice how they had set their requirements. It is a simple oversight that they will hopefully fix soon.

1) To upgrade 3 different things in the guild hall it requires Heavy Supply Bags which according to the wiki only drops from Centaurs in WvW. Where are the Centaurs in WvW? If they aren’t there, how are we supposed to get them?

2) Two of the dailies I have seen since HoT came out are “Master of Ruins” and “Veteran Creature Slayer”. Are either one possible on the new maps? If not, how soon will they be removed and have relevant dailies added?

3) Is anybody else having a problem with WvW missions glitching? A couple of times today we started a mission, it said “Mission completed” before it was done and nobody got the individual rewards that we were doing it for. Any thoughts on this?

It seems like an easy fix is to put an NPC into WvW that sells them. Once you have your war room you can either buy more from him or go to the war room to buy them. And the NPC can just stay in game selling them. No reason to ever take him out.

In our guild hall we have the NPC that allows to us to make the War Room and have everything we need except for the 15 Badges of Tribute. The description of Badge of Tribute says that it is made in the War Room. Classic catch 22. Please fix. Thanks!

Nightcapping doesn’t exist. People play GW2 from around the world and I have guild members from a number of different countries and time zones. One person’s night is another persons day.

There are a number of threads where players complain about it but seeing the game devs mention it is something that I find disturbing. People play WvW 24/7. If some servers have more on at non peak NA hours then they do. This is not something that needs to be fixed.

I understand that people are frustrated to play for a number of hours, go to bed and wake up to find that the lead they went to bed with is now gone. However, the people on the other server that took that lead away are just as frustrated that their compatriots couldn’t stop YOU from building up that lead in the first place.

I read on another thread where somebody said in jest “WvW should shut down every time I log out”. To me that is the summary of all of the complaints against nightcapping. Please don’t penalize players who happen to play at a time which is less than peak for their server.

I think that Friday reset is much better than Saturday. If due to HoT release it needs to be Saturday for a week I understand that. Once we are past release date please move it back to Friday. Thanks.

WvW Points beyond 1390!

I made my suggestions very much with the idea of newbies not being penalized and Fuzzion’s comment brings up a very legitimate concern. Here is something I should have put in my original post, they could make the first 1390 a pre-requisite before any of the others.

Does it really hurt a new player to not have a chance to regain siege like an experienced one? Same question with different shaped tag?

Is a new player less effective without Catapult skills? Ram Skills? The ability to pick up all supply at once? Yes they are. But none of my suggestions are in the same category as the basic WvW skills.

Arena Net has A LOT of points to do things with and it is very possible to do it in ways without taking away from gameplay for new players.

Once you have reached 1,390 Ability points you have unlocked all of the WvW skills in the game. Yet you continue to accumulate points all the way up to 10,000. What is the use of these additional points?

According the “Upgrading World vs. World Upgrades” article by Tyler Bearce (https://www.guildwars2.com/en/news/upgrading-world-vs-world-upgrades/) once HoT comes out it looks like it will cost less than 1,390 to max out all WvW skills.

I had a couple of ideas and discussed it with some of my friends and they chipped in some thoughts. One of the concerns I have is that you don’t want to make it so new players can’t play with experienced players and the ideas below try to keep that thought in mind.

1) A chance to replenish your siege you threw. So once you have “Super Build: Flame Ram” you have a 25% chance to get back the ram you threw down. Once you have completed all of the different types of Build Masteries you have an additional skill that gives you an added 25% chance to replenish all siege thrown. Obviously the 25% is arbitrary.

2) Different shaped commander tags that can only be bought with WvW points. Perhaps a sword, a shield, and a telescope. That way people can tell at a glance what kind of activity the commander is engaged in.

3) Have one (or more) Guild Hall upgrades cost WvW points. The thought here is that you have it cost 250 WvW points at a cost of 50 points per player. If the player leaves the guild they get their point refunded and the guild can’t do the next tiered upgrade until a player fills that slot back in.

4) Consumables. Tier 6 Materials? Siege? Laurels? Personally I am not a fan of this idea but multiple people suggested it so I thought I would include it. Since WvW points are a finite resource then I am reluctant to have players spend them on a 1 time use purchase.

As I slowly work my way up through the ranks in WvW I continue to see my points accumulate and I am sure there are many other players who would happily spend a few hundred of them to have a chance to replenish the siege they just threw. Or to have any use for them at all.

Same issue. It is a cool idea to get rid of all of the commanders less than 2 hours after reset. Good test for us Anet!! Oh and I really really want to get back in. Please fix.

I was in WvW and it kicked me to get the patch. After getting the patch. I got to the character select screen, select my character and as it starts to show Lions Arch. I get this message "Network error. Please check your internet connection and try again. (Code = 1022:5:1:874:101). My internet is just fine btw as I am using it to type this message.

I can’t tell you how great the FC experience is compared to other servers because I have only played on FC (since before release). However, what I can say is that we have a great community of WvW players that has a lot of fun together.

We have a number of skilled commanders and work together to take a specific objective or to coordinate attacks on multiple maps simultaneously.

There are number of truly skilled WvW players on FC and we welcome new players as well as experienced players from other servers. I am happy to teach WvW and always willing to learn new things as well.

Guild Missions [merged]

As a guild leader of a small guild I think that my responsibility is pretty clear. If I want my guild members to enjoy this new guild content I should encourage them to leave my guild and join a larger guild so they will have that opportunity. With the total Influence amounts set where they are that is clearly the right thing to do. If you want to be in a smaller guild than that is your choice but it is clear that the new guild content is not meant for you. I have already talked to my guild members online and pointed out to them that we are at Art of War 2 and that it will be a very long time before we are even at Art of War 5 much less accumulate the 30k added faction it will take to unlock the the Guild Bounty. Other small guild leaders should consider doing the same thing.
