I have been noticing a trend with using a karma booster during a Scarlet event. I only get a maximum of 20 karma per event (closing of portals) after about 15 minutes.
Explanation:
At first I just assumed it was diminishing returns, but I have been told that it doesn’t exist in the game.
When using a karma booster, I am receiving up to 420 karma per Scarlet event.
Within 15 minutes, that amount drops to a maximum of twenty (20) per event.
I have attached a screenshot proving this.
I put in a ticket for a GM and they asked me to post this.
+1 on this post.
I stowed my Ranger away before Christmas and haven’t logged into the game since. No other class interests me at this point, so I just check the update notes waiting for spirits and pets to be fixed.
I hadn’t really thought about this until last night and was hoping someone could shed some light on it…
The Ranger Sun spirit gives a chance for each party member’s next attack to burn the target.
Does this stack?
I actually don’t recall burning ever stacking on a creature. If that is true, it would mean I probably should be using another spirit in groups (ie. Air).
While things aren’t quite as bad as the video makes it seem, it sure does feel like this happens more times than not.
Thanks for the laugh at work though, much appreciated.
Me, running with spirit pets traited for double health and spirit following enters FOTM with a guild group….
Guardian: I keep getting a random protection buff every 60 seconds or so.
Guardian: Yep, there is again.
Ranger (me): Oh! That’s my stone spirit.
Guardian: You have a spirit that gives me a protection buff every 60 seconds? That’s awesome!
Ranger (me): Actually it gives you the buff every 10 seconds.
Guardian: I only see it every 60 seconds.
Warrior: Yeah, me too.
Ranger (me): Yeah… it’s dead before it ever gives you the buff the second time. I can cast it every 60 seconds though.
Guardian: Oh. Maybe you should bring your thief next time =)

The plan:
After working my way through dungeon after dungeon in AC, I have finally put together my entire tough/vit set.
My plan is to put together a decent amount of survivability, but balance that with damage output via power. This way I can enter melee range in dungeons.
As such I intent to trait 30 into Markmanship, 30 into Nature, 5 BM, and 5 WS. This would involve slotting spirits in 7 and 8 and keeping quickness or something else in 9.
The needed advice:
I am torn as to what type of jewelry to slot. Should I finish out with some toughness or vitality trinkets, or perhaps slot all dps gear here? If anyone has any expereience/ thoughts on this or the above I would appreciate hearing it.
Notes:
I currently run sword/torch (auto attack off) and longbow offhand. I am considering other offhand options.
Thanks!
Any players here from the Denver or Boulder, CO area?
A couple of us are looking to meet others from the area to nerd it up over a beer sometime soon.
PM me if interested.
Thanks!
Hello!
I am relatively new to the GW2 ranger and am looking for some help.
I personally enjoy sword/torch and longbow as my weapon choices.
As such I am looking for some trait advice to get the most out of my ranger.
I am currently running a Wilderness Survival / Beastmastery build, but recognize Im not doing myself any favors with the longbow.
Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks!
That is why I will never use gems on keys….sorry to hear that man.
Actually if you read the patch notes, there is nothing about it having to be the 23rd. It is the 22nd here and the addition of the items is listed.

I can only hope that this is a bug and that the odds aren’t really this bad.
If I just spend 1800 gems for nothing, I would call that a dissapointment.
I use them all the time… when taking screenshots. The summoned weapons are generally cooler looking that the regular weapons =)
I agree with Rehero. Giving us the ability to swap weapons would lead to an OP class.
I personally feel that Elementalists do need another weapon option though (ie. sword). While we have lots of spells available, the limited weapon set gets boring compared to other classes.
As the title implies, when I use this skill I feel like I am playing russian roulette.
I learned to deal with it in PvE as it only killed me once in a while.
In PvP, this bug is the difference between a fun night and a night of cursing. If LtR fails the majority of the time, I go to bed in a bad mood. If it succeeds, it is a fun night.
I still die at least 5-10 times every 10 minutes in PvP, but when LtR works, I take at least 10 people with me =)
I leveled 1 to 80 and never had more than 6 gold.
I am in the same boat as you griffy. I get to play about 2 hours a night and prefer not to spend it all farming for 50 silver.
I was just coming here to post about this. Only spot holding me back. Please help!
I have tried many of the builds listed above, but currently run 30 air / 30 arcane / 10 water.
Removing conditions from changing to water and then again by rolling/dodging in water has saved my tail and my group many times in dungeons.
The extra precision basically means you are forgoing condition damage for the ‘big hit’. I like big hits. I typically run scepter/dagger.
I wouldn’t mind hearing some thoughts on this, but once I get enough materials or money, I intend to find out if the ‘big hits’ are big enough to counter the added damage due to conditions.
To the OP:
Yes, the Elementalist has survivability problems.
Those of us who have embraced the problem spend a lot of time running in circles, dodging and rolling. The particular fight you are talking about took me a while to complete. I personally went with a staff and let the NPC’s do a lot of the work. Using Earth and Water to both weaken and slow the mobs was key to me surviving.
With all of the above said, it wasn’t a particularly fun fight, but given the level of challenge, it was rewarding to complete the encounter.
It is my guess that Elementalists will see some balancing in the near future, but what you are describing is very true and very real.
If this information is accurate (and I have no reason to believe it isn’t), it is a real eye opener. I would love to hear from Anet on this one.

I personally have salvaged my ‘current’ dagger at least 3 times while leveling because of this.
If the darn thing would go into a particular location, it would be one thing, but when I swap to a staff my dagger drops into a magical location in my bag that is almost impossible to find in a pinch.
Is there a reason why elementalists do not have a "reduce falling damage" trait?

Yes because that would totally instantly fix elementalist problems. I knew there was a reason they were so weak. Its because we have no reduced fall damage.
Not really constructive to the post, but sure did make me laugh. Must clean up the coffee I just spit out.
I agree with the OP on this. Its one thing if I am targeting something, but when I am just running around and smack a random deer by accident, it is quite annoying.
I must agree that our elite skills are lacking. I tend to switch between the Glyph of Elementals and the Hounds. They are useful in tough situations but I feel they should have their duration increased.
I would go as far as to suggest that we can trait to have the elementals be permanent. For example, 30 points in air would allow us to have a permanent air elemental. Just my thoughts.
