OK, I get the feeling someone’s been lurking and decided to do something, or luck is smiling on me, cause I haven’t had a TP related crash for over a week now. The TP still doesn’t load sometimes, but now I can just close the window and reopen it a couple times to fix it.
This could be just a fluke, which I consider likely as we haven’t had a peep from anet on this for a loooong while AFAIK, but If this was intentionally fixed, and was just never mentioned for whatever reason, THANK YOU WHOEVER YOU ARE!!!
IDK about everyone else, but this TP issue seems to have cleared up noticably since the last round of patches, I can now access the TP more than 50% of the time again!
I still get client crashes often with the TP, so the problem is still there, so it might just be a fluke, but just maybe they’re making progress with patching it, fingers crossed.
There is a preexisting thread on this topic.
I figure the mods would appreciate keeping things 1 thread per issue, and oh how long running this one has been, all things considered.
I find it funny, but mostly depressing, that your "unplayable"13-15 FPS, is my average FPS in combat. I cannot imagine what my game would be like if I encountered the same problem.
I have refrained from upgrading to Yosemite, for fear of the game getting any more/worse issues.
This problem has now reached the point of the TP crashing my game about 2-3 times more often than it works, this is also no longer my only recurring problem. I’ll be hoping for a red post here sometime soon.
So, is there any chance we could maybe get an idea of where this issue lies in terms of priority of the team fixing this kind of thing? It would help me greatly if I knew you guys had a ballpark date in mind for this problem.
Yea, it didn’t help. Seemed promising right when I did it, but turned out to just be wishful thinking.
I really hope Anet is still making progress on this, but since we don’t exactly get regular updates or anything(not like that would be practical anyway), hoping, waiting, and keeping this thread active is about all we can do about it. :/
Bumping thread, cause this is now an even more grievous problem with winters day out, and the TP being even more relevant to clearing bags. Happens more than 50% of the time when I open the TP window. Funny enough, opening the window doesn’t trigger the freeze in particular, it’s closing the window that freezes my game, so I can play relatively normally, so long as I don’t close the TP window that is forever loading. The crashing, however, happens shortly after opening the window.
Also, found that post about switching default browser to firefox, trying it, will post if it works or not, so far so good though.
Seems like quite a big clue as to what the problem is from my perspective.
IDK the best way to report this, but the mac beta section of the forums is showing no threads to me, as though that section has never had a thread posted.
If you know a way to fix this, please share!
MacBook Pro 2012
OS 10.9.5
4 GB 1600 MHz DDR3 (it’s two, 2GB modules if that helps)
2.5 GHz Intel Core i5
Intel HD 4000 1024 MB
TP crashes/freezes my game every 2-5 times I open it, regardless of whether it’s from an NPC or not, requiring a force quit or computer restart to get back in game, I experience the same game window darkening, but it doesn’t always correlate with this problem. It also seems to have gotten slightly worse with the living story release, but that could be my imagination.
I think some of us are getting a bit too heated here(no surprise there), I think what will help the most at this point in time is focusing on our, and our friends who don’t post on these forums, experience with the new patch.
Talk about what YOU and YOUR FRIENDS have liked and hated, and with at least a shred of maturity, and a bit of respect for the effort it takes to maintain and update this game we all care about. There’s no need to belittle or discredit another’s comments, anyone with a brain will see who’s being hyperbolic, and if it’s really that bad, just be reassuring, and even handed, not dismissive.
Yea, there’s A LOT anet could do better, and plenty of it would’ve likely been easier to do, but that doesn’t mean they have deliberately tried to insult our intelligence, or worth(even if I’ve gotten that feeling before, doesn’t make it the truth).
glad to hear that Ryan
I honestly don’t think a rollback is in order, nor do I like the new heavily dumbed down leveling system, and I cannot find anyone I know who likes it either.
The largest overarching issue here is it strongly appears anet did not think a number of these changes through, or tested them properly, and when coupled with anet’s history of bad communication, it feels very alienating, and doubly so as a ‘veteran’ player of almost 2 years. The teasers for this patch alone spurred something of an exodus from my server and guild, we will recover if things stay stable, but I’m hearing more and more frustration as good, helpful, and GEM BUYING players slowly lose the little things that they love in this game. good morning, guten morgen, bonjour (name that line, then try and find it now)
What I would like to see happen is bringing back the old skill unlock mechanics, and let lowbies interact with vistas and skill points, possibly triggering a little tutorial and unlocking their markers on the map after their 1st encounter with one. I would also like to see a downed state tutorial, preferably in the starting instance, or possibly the first time you go down, and you get double HP or something so you have time to read the tooltips and such. I doubt it’ll happen, but that’s what I would like, and it definitely won’t happen if no one knows you want it.
Mostly I want to see anet stop trying to fix things that ARE NOT BROKEN, and focus primarily on things that undeniably are broken and END GAME CONTENT. Dry top is a start, the LS it’s tied to not as much(nice way to introduce new maps though), follow up with more maps, hopefully a new dungeon. WvW seasons were a good idea, but has gotten stale all to quickly. PvP reward tracks are good, but new game match modes would be better, like deathmatch, or king of the hill, possibly capture the flag someday.

I think rebalancing things wasn’t such a bad idea, but with this much early level gating, what are new players supposed to do? How are they supposed to find this fun? all you can do as anything less than level 10 is run around the starter maps and grind out half of map completion, and you’ll be forced to backtrack to pick up all those skill challenges and vistas that were level restricted when you passed by them the first time. Even after 10, you’ll still be mostly stuck with running map completion to get out of the level hole. The only people who seem to enjoy this change are the very veteran MMO players who thought that leveling was too fast, and enjoy grinding, and even they weren’t that set on it. Everyone else seems to be in an uproar over this, including everyone I know, I really think this change is VERY UNFRIENDLY to people who haven’t played MMOs before, or did and hated the grind. This new system would’ve turned me off when I first started this game.
VMS errant.
The saddest part to me is that I generally like the patch, but things like this make me wonder where the dev teams are actually trying to take this game. E-sport seems to be out of the question, as the lion’s share of content and updates are aimed at casual and new players, story/lore seems like a strong possibility, but the scrambling of the original personal story makes me wonder about that, and now that leveling seems to have been made much harder and much longer, I can’t really say they are truly focused on drawing in more casual and new players either.
If anet would actually MAINTAIN a dialogue with the player base, not just listen with minimal replies, and then release related content months later with mixed results. I think there’d be a lot less of these issues, and less outrage and anet scrambling to work in last minute changes, like with the oringinal announcment of torment for mesmer scepter with no PU condi nerfs, or the colored commander tags being 300 gold per color.

Seems like tip #3 did the trick, might’ve just been how long it took, but we’ll see. Just copy paste that line of code into terminal and wait, it’ll start up guild wars and ‘update’ for awhile, just let it finish before trying to play.
I’ve been getting the exact same problem these past couple days, it happens about 3-6 seconds after I hit the ‘play’ button, I’ve tried restarting several times, only thing that’s ‘helped’ is waiting it out, about to try the things posted here: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/mac/Basic-Mac-Beta-Client-Troubleshooting

ty carter for the link, hopefully everything gets resolved quickly, I have all my build on that thing!
This is my first post on the anet forums, and I believe this is the appropriate section to ask. Is there any plan to take the apple version of the client out of beta? If it is already out of beta, where can I download the latest version of the mac client?
