Hi folk, in light of the myriad of items that show up in the gem store that are account bound but are “something you keep in your bags”, I thought it might be nice to have an account-wide bag option. Whether this is a gem store item or a craftable bag like the other bags, I do not really care. But it would be very useful to have one bag in my inventory that was consistent across all of my chars for the sake of putting some of the expensive and nice tools in them. (like the infinite use axe, the infinite use pick, the royal pass, siege stuff for wvw, etc) Some rules around it could be:
- Soulbound items either may not be placed in it at all or they are treated like they are in the bank and simply not usable by any other chars.
- If you place the account-wide bag in say slot 7, and one of your chars hasn’t purchased slot 7 yet, then they don’t see the bag at all. But once they do purchase that slot it will show up. Obviously people could just put it in slot 1 but that’s their option.
I do of course realize this means a person with a lot of characters would NOT be purchasing more than 1 of the account bound tools and such, but I actually did not buy them -because- i have a ton of chars and didn’t want just one of them to have it, nor could i afford to buy a bazillion copies of it.
I would certainly buy the bag itself from the gem store.

While I agree with the swapping of those two from before — I feel that the exp and such boosts don’t make the orb as attractive of a thing to ‘bother with’. That said, I wish they’d done that swap to begin with.
And good point about the hackers… sigh. =(
“Where there is light, there is darkness.”
Hi folk. So I find that I rather miss the orbs. The only real problem I had with the orbs was simply the benefits they provided. I wanted to toss out an idea on how orbs could be reincorporated in a way that I think would be less balance throwing and make a bit more sense.
So if the orb is in it’s temple at the north of the map — it provides a very small defense boost to all structures of that team on the entire borderland map. This would be your ‘bonus’ for it being -your- borderland. If you keep that orb protected, then you provide a minor boon to everything you’ve captured. Nothing too super strong mind you, just a minor edge.
If the orb exists at anything beyond the temple, it provides a boon to only that structure, but a stronger boon than the “global” boon from it being in the temple. This provides two things — a reason for the opposing side to want it, to help protect a keep they’ve taken — and a reason for the owner of the borderland to -potentially- consider moving it from the temple. IE holy crap there’s a huge army heading towards Hills, get the orb there now!
What kind of boon am I talking about? Well I’m not 100% sure on that. Couple of ideas (not intended to be “all of them”, just one) I was kicking around are:
- global: 3% boost to all equipment, wall, etc hp, single: 6% of the same boost
- global: 10% boost in improvement build time, single: 20% boost
- global: 20% reduction in materials needed for improvements, single: 40% reduction
Anyway, just tossing the idea out there. But like I said, I very much miss the orb concept, just felt the benefits from it were off.

Hi there! So every time a maint update is put out, the client updater patches itself typically with anywhere from an 2meg to 50meg (the other day) but twitter indicates no game changes were made. So simply for the sake of curiousity — what is being downloaded? =) Are you all removing some files that are no longer needed or removing little bits of code that are not needed? Note: I’m not objecting to it, it’s just something that I’ve been wondering about every time I see it. Thanks!
“Where there is light, there is darkness.”
Also note I’m very serious in that I want to know if my ‘fellow mesmers’ think that the changes I suggest would be completely unfair/nullify their strength. =)

Honestly the main thing that I think makes portal bombing a -little- ugly to counter is that you aren’t stopped from, for example, using the prestige or blink or something else to get to your destination “unseen”. IE I can get to my location without you even seeing me coming.
One potential option could be that you are forbidden to use other skills until you open the portal, or you lose the portal. (in a way it would work like the prestige does) Question is, is that completely unfair to the mesmer? I’ve tested out a number of options with my portal and if I have the right skills readied, I can get to my target location without you really having a chance imo.
If I wasn’t able to use my skills, then I would be a mesmer running towards your group and if you can’t stop me well.. sorry? You really do need to pay more attention in that scenario.
This also would add a little more coordination to the use of it. IE clearly me running solo towards your group is probably not going to go well. However if 20 stay behind and 5 run with me towards the enemy then it’s not entirely clear what is going on. Likewise a skilled thief could try to keep me hidden at key locations. Again, requires coordination.
Please understand I’m not picking a fight, just tossing out a potential option that seems a bit more fair to me (and why I think my own abilities are a tad unfair).

Note that I increased instead of decreased BUT I did see a decrease work when I played with the slider.
“Where there is light, there is darkness.”
Huh — it worked for me! I heightened one of my Sylvaria last night. Also make sure you -cancel- the changes you’ve made if you think something is wrong. You don’t lose the kit if you cancel.

Hey I found a way to get around this for now — if you physically move your character to a location where they are -currently- glowing, and then activate the makeover kit, you’ll find that you can see the glow in the kit screen.
PS I agree I’d love to have the full screen makeover. =)

That’s interesting — I have a friend on Jade Quarry (I’m on Sanctum of Rall) who I was sending messages to and he never got them. After a bit I tried to invite him to my party and all of a sudden both party chat -and- whispers worked. Even when we dropped party. Now I -want- to be able to talk to him but I think it’s the same issue. =)

For what it’s worth, I found a way around it — if you physically move your character to a dark place where you are -currently- glowing, and THEN go into the Makeover Kit screen, you will see the glow.

Despite my main being a Mesmer, I don’t have a strong feeling on the portal one way or the other. But I wanted to throw out a quick thought after reading over what everyone has said here and see what y’all think about it.
What if the portal only worked with line of sight? In other words, I can’t plop down a portal, get on the other side of a wall, and have that work. I’d have to get to a location where I can clearly see my portal entry point for anyone to be able to come through it.
Which brings up a slight side question, do people standing in the way count as blocking line of sight?

Hi there! My understanding is that the halloween event is in 4 phases. I’m assuming this is primarily related to the ghost hunt but not really sure. Either way — lets say for the sake of argument that one is not going to be around for the entire duration of phase 2. (sigh) Will I .. er said person .. miss out on the entireness of what happens in phase 2 or can I still complete phase 2 things when phase 3 and 4 come about? IE will anything from earlier phases be retired when the next phase comes along? Thanks!

Authenticator barcode scan no longer working
in Account & Technical Support
Posted by: Jadestorm.8037
Howdy! When I first set up the authenticator, when it was in beta, I had no trouble scanning the barcode and setting things up. Today I re-set it up due to the bug with it yesterday, and the barcode comes up “invalid” now. Entering in the information manually worked just fine, but scanning failed. I’m using the iOS version of the authenticator.
