Hi all,
Trying to achieve the Lavish Llama at the current rate would be, as someone aptly noted, madness! The good news is, next week will bring some concrete details on how you can start earning them at a much more rapid pace through participating in select tournaments.
-Josh
1,000,000 Caravans Destroyed (lifetime)
100,000 Keeps Captured (lifetime)
1,000,000 Total Objectives Defended (lifetime)
Any idea if you can give me some concrete details on how I can start earning these titles at a much more rapid pace?
Thanks.
I was monitoring, thinking and theory crafting ideas regarding this topic. However, I really think you should let your new player base decide. All the best on this discussion.
Exactly what do you want from this discussion John?
Do you want to know which option out the 3 or another would provide the most beneficial solution? Do you want to know the pro’s and con’s to each method stated?
The only real insight i can constructively give you is yes, coverage is an issue at the moment. Snowballing i feel is due to the overall effectiveness of a server, which leads towards server guilds, teamspeak etc. Apart from that, i feel that it’s unclear as to what you want to be discussed.
Thanks for reading.
The main problem is not the blueprints, it’s the ability to use up precious supplies. Prevention is better than cure right? My proposal is to prevent said trolls from using supplies.
By talking to the relevant NPC at the Supply Depot in Garrison/Citadel, people can input a name into box (almost like a report feature). Being in a Commander Squad will allow you to vote from anywhere in the map much like the party kick feature with a simple tick/cross. Once, XX (10/15/20) votes are in, their supply is disabled for WvW across all maps for 24/48/72 hours. Repeat offenders will mean increased time duration of said ban, kind of like the “Dishonorable” feature in GW1.
But what if someone used all the seige up in Garrison at 5am when 6 players were on?Reports will still count to this overall total of votes needed per WvW match-up (so a week).
But what if someone has made 40 ballista’s already?
Commanders can purchase an Elite Skill that will show up when on a flame/ac/treb etc. that costs 250 Badges of Honor that will allow you to refund siege from a particular site. It will be called Commander’s Offering. The cool-down duration will be 3 minutes.
Commander’s Offering will refund siege dependent on players on map and the amount used to build the seige. It gets added to the Supply Depot in Citadel.
Formula = (Supply cost of Siege) x (Number of Players on map/100)
Say for example 50 players are on the map.
AC = (30) x (50/100) = 15 Supplies recovered and sent to Citadel
Treb = (100) x (50/100) = 50 Supplies recovered and sent to Citadel.
TL;DR – loss of supply is the main problem. Added in-game report feature that needs XX votes to disable trolls supply for rest of match-up. Punishment increases for multiple offenses. Added purchasable Commander Skill on Siege to refund supplies dependent on players in map via use of formula.
Sorry for long post.
Since the game was released 2+ years ago, individuals really wanted to see certain aspects from Guild Wars 1 carry over to Guild Wars 2.
This new Mist Herald Backpack looks really cool. However, it irks me when for the past 2 years i see posts upon posts explaining how “difficult” it is to create a cape due to “design parameters” etc. Now, a very similar product gets introduced into the Gem Store…
In essence, this new Mist Herald Backpack is a basically cape, but sideways and sticks out profusely. It is made from cloth. It moves when your character moves. It’s a sideways cape.
So, Arenanet.. my three questions to you are that;
a) Where the hell are the traditional style capes from Guild Wars 1?
b) Why haven’t they been implemented yet? because based on this new item in your Gem Store, it is possible.
c) Is the reason you have not implemented so far due to the lack of a greater enough market for Capes?
It is very evident that your strategic objectives and goals are “new player” focused due to the plethora of updates within the past 2 quarters. I just want to see what your thought processes are. As an individual that has marketing experience, I see a huge opportunity in the market and a lack of seizing upon that opportunity.
Thanks in Advance for any/all responses to this post.

CAPES CAPES CAPES
Probably the worst loading screen ever.
Dry Top itself is home to plenty of unique features and ideas could include;
- Vines symbolizing the Gates of Maguuma
- Sandstorm
- Destiny Edge in the background of a Sandstorm
- Llamas
- Crash Site (preferably not in YouTube 144p)

Why does this guy look like Karl Pilkington?
Next time you guys go to EotM, hopefully you will laugh as much as i did.
Death Shroud is our 1200 Power Weapon in my opinion
Hopefully, Dark Path doesn’t bug out so you can get into range and do some damage.
Would love to see Shield implemented, could offer more attrition capabilities.
Flop in my opinion.
What did we all really expect from this “entity”?
I use the word entity, not company.
To the Gandaran Mesmer Scout from YaRR, getting your little guild mates to ambush and kill me was just too cute! You made me blush!
Enjoy the fights people!
I also cannot find the Weapon Skins.
No, especially when a Power/Condition build will do the same but in less time.
I’m just sat here, doing nothing in Lion’s Arch.

did you notice that they were insulting him before he popped out his tag?no one is innocent here.and as the redpost says he’s feel bad for his action.it was unprofessional yes but he is not the only one to blame.after all he is a human and he was deserved some respect in the first time.now i know what “gvg” players think of other players
I completely understand that, but lets put this in real world terms.
If i punched someone, and they punched me back, would the latter be exempt from the law? No. The Arenanet employee could have muted/infracted/warned the trolls to stop. However, that was not the case and now you have this mess.
There are many consumers who are just real jerks. Anyone who has worked at a fast food restaurant, restaurant, or retail store would agree with me.
But when you work in this industry, you are constantly told that “the consumer is always right”. So another own goal by Arenanet.
Hi All,
I wanted to comment about the incident that happened recently in-game, surrounding some negative community interaction from a member of the ArenaNet staff.
Simply put a big mistake was made by one of our employees, for which he is both very upset and sorry. He allowed his personal feelings to affect his interactions in-game whilst representing ArenaNet, and this is absolutely unacceptable.
Like all players, we are human, and all have our opinions on the game. However these opinions should never disrupt other player’s enjoyment of the things they love. On top of this we have worked very hard to create a community that is respectful to one another, and for this behavior to have occurred while a developer is representing ArenaNet is doubly saddening.
We all cherish the opportunity to play with the community, and we absolutely rely on you all for in game feedback, and personally I hope that this incident does not hamper what has so far been an amazing relationship and opportunity for us all.
I would therefore like to sincerely apologize for this behavior on behalf of our staff member. We are taking steps to address the incident and for his part, he is very sorry for behaving in the manner in which he did.
Regarding Guild game play, please understand it is extremely important to us, and an area we are paying a great deal of attention to, so please do be patient with the developers who work tirelessly on making WvW the very best it can be, they have a great deal of respect for you all, and value your collaboration in pushing this pioneering mode forward. Also please note this member of staff is not on the WvW team.
Finally, World vs. World is a free-for-all battle. Our expectation of staff is that they should be playing, and enjoying the game like everyone else, and not being disruptive or disrespectful to others.
And in this spirit I hope we can move forward, and continue, what has up to this point, been a great community/developer relationship. One that I know our team massively values and loves.
Thank you all for your time and i hope you have a lovely weekend,
ChrisW
Such unprofessional action really shows the community what you actually think of us.
Some of the responses from your Arenanet Employee is precisely how not to talk to the community.
I, personally, like the thousand’s that support your game, want a forum apology from the Arenanet Employee involved, not by yourself Chris. I am violated by this act and will not support your game via the gem store any longer.
Q2. Do any of you guys play WvW and on what servers?
Hello Mark, can you please elaborate on this question please. We (the WvW community) feel as though this is a main reason for the massive disconnect between players and forum moderators.
Thanks in advance.

I am trying to achieve something productive, not just for the player base as a whole, but for Arenanet too as a matter of fact. Poor business decisions will lead this game into a dark alley, and currently, the street lights are dimming fast. If anyone with substantial power/links/resources would want to take over or create a similar event, please don’t hesitate. I’m just trying to stop this insanity.
Straight out of the Lol/Sc2 forums, I hope you get your well deserved forum infraction/suspension
Lul.
In other news, patch got rid of the Iron Hide exploit, thankfully!
Patch Incoming?!
I hope whoever is going against my server does this so that we can pvdoor their garrison.
This is my tactic for when my server, like ~20th, get matched up against Vizunah with the match-up system, that was also implemented to collect data.
Wouldn’t it be better to log in stay in the keep and auto cast your heal?
Wont be on the 20th at reset any ways, although the way wvw is going is a joke for the most part. Even so if I were to be around I would have logged in to play.
Nah, only a drop in WvW numbers would make them see sense. If we did your idea, everywhere would be even and WvW would be working “as intended”..
Friday is a weekday.
If you disagree with the path WvW is going towards in GW2;
If you disagree with decisions made by certain individuals with 25 stacks of bloodlust;
If you disagree with the new content;
You get the jist; but this will be a peaceful protest.
It’s simple: Don’t log in for the first hour of WvW on reset on the 20th of September, go and spend some time with your family, friends, pets. Do some other activities.
This will allow parties involved, to “collect data” on the thoughts and opinions of the WvW community. But to do this, the message needs to be spread. After the hour of pandemonium, log in and continue playing like you normally would.
Hopefully we can stop the bullying that is going on at the moment. God Bless you all.

I could very well be wrong,
Talk about hitting the nail on the head.
Looks in Lord Room and sees multiple AC’s up
You did a nice portal bomb on our siege and we did a nice portal bomb on yours, so good game. More fights like that please., maybe minus the siege if we don’t see any up already.

Devon’s a PR.
What the heck is a PR? I am a designer and the coordinator of the WvW team. I am in charge of making the decisions as to the implementation of and final versions of anything that gets put into WvW.
Just a title.
Also, if you are a coordinator of the WvW team, and that WvW team consists of no-one that actually does PR, you become the PR guy. Unless you of course delegate it off.
With every new content release, the imagination from the development team for the Staff seems to be dwindling by the minute. I am pretty upset with the latest patch (Queen’s). My suggestion is that the Staff needs to have more better looking/animated skins.
From the last few patches, here is a Critical Path Analysis of Staff Creation that i am beginning to see;
1. Add Wooden Handle
2. Insert random color on top
3. Done
There are a very sparse amount of creative staff designs for gw2 in my opinion. In gw1, there were an abundance of creative staff designs, and even if people disagree with this statement, they will agree in that there was a certain level of equality on the weapon skin front.
Looking from a design point of view of the new Sovereign weapons, many of the skins, such as Shield, Longbow and Sword all have a radiant glow that to me; defines the weapon set and the way the design team wanted to go with in terms of contrast of the stone/glow. Looking at other weapons, Staff being included, there is just no glow. This immediately puts me off the weapon because i feel that it got “rushed” and the design team did not follow the main brief.
Swiftly onto the Champion Skins, what a contrast.
Greatswords looks majestic; Crystal Guardian actually looks immense and fits the design brief intended for it. A rocky core for the strength of the Guardian and crystals displaying toughness. Rapier looks excellent, simple and like a rapier. Entropy looks like it was crafted by Abaddon himself.
Then i move onto the Staff; Monsoon and i don’t really have anything positive to say about it. Looks like a piece of wood with icing on the top. No magic, No monsoon, No alchemy, No vision.
No-one will probably read this or consider points above. However, i needed to get this off my chest because it’s getting to a point where i am just frustrated. I have time off University, give me a brief and i can almost certainly guarantee an improvement of staff design compared to current trends. Add another “Create a weapon” competition like in Guild Wars 1. Just please get out of this cycle of releasing content for the sake of it.
I’m sorry if this has turned into a rant, and not a suggestion, but i suggest that the design team re-evaluates its approach and methods in order to sympathize and restore an aesthetically pleasing game back to its full glory, in all aspects of the game. Thank you.
Rename the class to Nerfomancer. I wouldn’t put it past them.
On a serious note, probably Spectral traits and Life Force regeneration on certain weapons. I can also see Staff #4 being stealth nerfed like in every single patch since beta.
Necromancer’s shall have fun with their amazing mobility..
I’ll just make an alt now shall i…
I say play it a while and then see how you feel.
We did a big set of improvements to Necro recently, and we want to make sure we don’t over improve their defense capabilities.
We want to shift more focus to death shroud throug main hand skills, but, again, we don’t want to do this too fast, ESPECIALLY with a major Pax tournament right around the corner.
So death shroud gains may not be as high as you would like, but we’ll keep monitoring them and looking at further improvements to make.
Hello Jonathan, I feel that when you did the Necromancer buff, it was a step in the right direction. Even with the nerf of Terror, Necromancers knew that it was necessary to keep the class incrementally improving.
I understand that you want to channel Life Force through main-hand skills, which is perfectly fine. However, the main-hand contingency (Dagger, Axe, Scepter) are not on par with the Off-hand contingency. The Off-hands that Necromancers possess are adequate (an improvement to Locust Swarm to enable it like Spectral Walk would be amazing! Solve the mobility problem a little, and a change from WH#4 to 2 stacks of Torment would be better for the overall class itself instead of daze.). The main-hands aren’t really adequate when comparing to other light classes which makes your plan of channeling Life Force a bit out of source. A sword for the Necromancer and an improvement on existing main-hand weapons would allow you to
a) Improve offensive AND defensive capabilities.
b) Allow Necromancers more variety.
Thanks in advance for a reply if you have any thoughts on my post
Quit linking videos that prove absolutely nothing past someone bothered to film a perfect scenario.
This defines every single Necromancer build ever.
That “I can barely get Ghastly Claws off without dying” was a sliiiiight exaggeration if you didn’t realize.
I will agree that Lich Form is great in PvP, Plague however isn’t so in my opinion. These elites you mentioned weren’t really a part of the recent nerf of the Necromancer, and because they are perfectly fine within the game, i didn’t mention them.
In terms of PvP, the recent Death Shroud nerf hit the Necromancer hard. Also, in terms of CC, Chill is far far superior to torment in my opinion because it gives the Necromancer a little mobility. Corrupt boon isn’t really godlike with boon priority and that reflects because not many Necromancer’s run it anymore.
“They can also tank and heal almost as well as a guardian can, they can put out ridiculous amounts of CC with fear and torment.” For a Necromancer to tank and heal they must sacrifice about 70-80% of there damage output, of which is pretty weak anyways.
All of what you said were great points and thank you for them. Hopefully it will improve my terrible gameplay.
Necromancers aren’t designed for the current meta-game, change the meta-game or give Necromancers some sort of sign that you at least care for the class. A 2% life force increase for Ghastly Claws may seem a “buff” to you guys, but in the grand scheme of things, its really nothing. It seems that I can barely get Ghastly Claws off without dying. I understand that we are a class of attrition, i get that, but it doesn’t reflect with the rest of the classes and game.
Torment has just been slapped onto Thief’s and Warrior’s. Greater Marks is now not worth the 20 trait points, so that’s another useless trait. Mesmer’s have a great abundance of traits that are useful in different builds.
Is any of this tested? I’m slowly beginning to lose patience with these slapdash changes. Necromancers, and all classes for that matter, should be “viable” in every aspect of the game, yet i’m struggling to find a format of the game where we at least make some noise. I said that the Terror/Dhuumfire/Sig of Para was OP and needed to be nerfed to some extent. That’s been nerfed to the extent where it really isn’t viable anymore.
Was this meant to be a rant? No, but the constant suppression of the Necromancer leaves me between a rock and a hard place quite frankly.
I remember a skill in Guild Wars called Grenth’s Balance. Oh the irony!
It’s just a numbers game between RoF and AG/Drakkar i think…
RoF are holding our own pretty well, especially when you have 2 AG Guilds of 25+ working well together when we have one group of 25
. Hopefully we can continue to farm the AG swarm when you get SM back
.
All the best guys and continue with the great gameplay!
What skills do thieves have for 100% uptime on weakness?
What skills do Necromancers have for 100% uptime on stealth?
When facing thieves, i drop WoS then enter DS. From DS, i always use DS#3 and then immediately DS#2 to chill them and decrease their mobility, because then my mobility will increase, then DS#1 to death.
If DS runs out, pop Focus#5, Axe #2, Focus#4 and then back into DS for a while, that’s what i personally do 1v1 but find out what works best for you!
Power Necro’s are very viable in Dungeons because Death Shroud and Kiting properly will ensure your survival.
“Double click to use. You will be able to reset trait allocation at any time.”
Cost (which one do you think i best?):
15g + 500 Badges of Honor
15g + 42,000 Karma
15g + 15 Laurels
15g + 25 Skill Points
Vendor: Profession Trainers across all of Tyria!
Mentioned wvw/zerg/even group condition pressure is boredline useless due to the aoe cap.
Condition pressure will also be nerfed in 1v1 situations next patch, by the time you began to lay down your conditions, you are dead already or they have escaped.
wow.
Devs considered it to be OP.
There is a difference between “Stale and Boring” and “Ridiculous”.
Arenanet are jumping from one extreme to the other and its quite alarming where these idea’s actually come from. Too many Guild Wars 2 cakes they love to post on Social Media outlets….
Surely, they can extrapolate from their servers a few key ingredients to make this work?
a) Average Population Per Week In WvW?
b) Average Population Per Day In WvW?
c) Queue Time?
d) probably other data that i can’t think of?
The Rating System is not the greatest system to be introduced to this planet, but for how much they get right in the aspects of the game, they get wrong in the implementation.
“A house is only as strong as its foundations”
That time will come in the next patch! yaaay!
Tired of choosing between a rune/sigil and an awesome weapon? Don’t, with a Perfect Salvage Kit!!
These were in the original Guild Wars, and allowed for a better customization system.
Gem Cost; 250 for 6 uses – 50 for 1 use.
Thoughts?
Fear builds will be useless next patch, as you said.
What annoys me after just re-aligning my traits, is that Wells feature in the Curses and Blood instead of just one. That’s like saying to an Elementalist; We have Meteor Shower specifics in Water and Fire…
Yeah, i just got really annoyed re-traiting.
