Anet, don’t change it. Let those serious about wvw commit themselves. It’s not about the shinies anyway. Let’s not make it just about those things. Lowering it won’t change anything if they are going to leave after getting it. Leave it as is.
Funny how you say it’s not about the shines while near everyone who played wvw for years is whining about that exact thing.
Well except for the fact that we had zero rewards for the first two years and we still played.
If you truly have “zero” reward. Then you must just login in wvw and just afk the entire time, i dont think afking in wvw is consider playing, but it seem most vet think so.
For the 1st time in your life anet pls do not cave to casuals or players that don’t even care about wvw to lower the Reqs for armor etc.
Don’t care if rank restriction are even higher, just need to change the the way you earn pips base on your rank need to be reduce. For all I care you can set the armor requirement to 9000 if you want.
Parallel to your logic, veteran WvW players should have been given a LARGE amount of claim tickets from the start of this new WvW update. For free, obviously, since the same rewards weren’t given throughout the few years prior.
This wouldn’t be much different than how it is now ….would it?
You really don’t understand the complaints do you?
If when the update dropped every player got x number of skirmish tickets based on their rank, and for every rank gained from this point on, every player would get x amount of ticket, there would be no issue. Because players would be progressing at the same speed.
The problem the current system has and why people are calling it unfair, is because wvw rank affect the rate at which you earn rewards. It’s exponential instead of linear, meaning that not only new players will never catch up with the vets, but the vets will continuously increase their lead until both the new player and the vet get to rank 10000.
And when i’m talking about the reward, i’m not just talking about the skirmish tickets, but all the reward linked to pip aquisition (including the repeatable chest). Now you’re free to think wether that’s fair of not, but please, at least try to understand what the issue is.
I completely understand the complaints. I’m merely stating that if it happened differently, and X group of players started off with more currency than Y group of players, then Y group of players would still complain to the same extent that is happening right here in this thread.
Nope i would not complain about that, just like i know people who participated in previous spvp seasons are gonna have more pvp tickets and ascended shard of glory than me who just started this season. Because I know everytime time i win a match every hour i spend, our reward progress are still gonna be very similar even compare to people who play spvp since the game came out. But it discouraging when someone who run next to you in wvw doing the exact samething, get 5-6 times faster reward progress.
And we have WvW Newbies and Vets: Earn pips mostly depend on ranks. Not on your ability to perform in wvw.
This is incorrect. Vets will perform WvW better due to WXP masteries. Stop ignoring that.
PvP Newbies and Vets: Earn pips depend on your ability to win games, not your pvp level.
Base pips are also based on ability to be first, 2nd, or third every five minutes.
Then the extra pips given to high rank should stop at rank 1000, since you max out WXP masteries at rank 1000. Rank 1000-10000 should receive the same amount of pips unless there are difference in their ability to perform in wvw. As for base pips, i am not against it at all because the results of placement depend on the ability of players on the server.

I rather all those extra pips given to high rank player goes to good “commanders”, because they actually contribute more and do more.
There’s no way a PvE player can get raid armor faster than anyone else if they all put in the same effort. An example would be getting an extra Legendary Insight for each boss kill, or 2 or 3 etc.
Bad example because “same effort” doesn’t exist.
The amount of Legendary Insights you can gain per week is limited 13 (for the first months of raids it was only 3!). Not all PvE players can gain all 13 per week. The reason for this has to do with their availability, access to a team and gear, knowledge, and experience of every single boss of every wing. New players to raids are not going to be gaining all LIs every week.
The amount of WvW claim tickets you can gain per week is limited to 175. Not all WvW players can gain all 175 per week. Again the reasons for this have to do with availability, access to a team and gear, knowledge, and experience.
My point is that new raiders are not restricted by the fact that they are new and veteran raiders are not given any specific advantage because they’ve been doing it longer when speaking of the rates of progress each have to attain the goal.
The initial three LI limit was because there were only 3 bosses to get them from when raids first came out.
Wether or not someone has the access to all available means to get something like LI’s is irrelevant because it’s determined player by player based on thier lives, time etc. The point is that two people under the same circumstances, a new player and an old player, will achieve the raid rewards at the same rate if they both fulfill the same criteria together. In WvW, however, a vet can do the exact same thing as a newbie, but progress much faster to the same rewards simply by being a vet.
I think the people who have stuck to wvw over the years should be rewarded for it, but alienating the newbies and making things more difficult for aspiring wvw players is not the way to go.
You are still trying to make a hypothetical “same effort” argument that doesn’t exist.
New raiders are absolutely restricted in the fact that they are new. It is determined player by player based on their lives, time, experience, access to team and gear, knowledge of the fights, etc. Exactly what I wrote and no different from being a vet in WvW. There is not two people under the same circumstances if they are different ranks. WXP rank gives an account abilities useful to WvW just as HoT and Raid masteries help with raids. You are not going to find new raiders under the same circumstances, fulfilling the same criteria, as vet raiders and most pug groups are not going to accept new raiders either. A new raider can’t even do a boss like Xera without leyline gliding. Maybe they have vet friends who will let them sit dead after the start and they can 9-man Xera for that person so they can get the LI. Are you seriously going to say that was same effort because it was same boss fight and we should have such a system for WvW claim tickets? What would be the point of getting leyline gliding then if that person gets the LI anyway? Cry discrimination on Xera against people who don’t have leyline gliding despite the fact they can go play and progress towards it just like everyone else before them?
I dont get it, why is it so hard for you to see the differences?
PvP Newbies and Vets: Earn pips depend on your ability to win games, not your pvp level.
Raid Newbies and Vets: Earn shards and LI on your ability to kill bosses.
And we have WvW Newbies and Vets: Earn pips mostly depend on ranks. Not on your ability to perform in wvw.
You see in raid and pvp people progress at different speed because how their ability to complete things. Some raid squad full clear in 2 hours, some who don’t have the skill or the right tactic may full clear at much slower rate or dont clear at all. The raid reward depend on player’s ability. Wvw however depend on your rank! So unless somehow you are able to proven that diamond rank player have the ability to contribute more than sliver or bronze, there shouldn’t be a reward gap. Because anything that a diamond player can do in wvw, bronze and sliver or even lower rank are able to also.
I still think they should give reward tracks for playing the Trading Post, its actually a lot more fun then most game modes lol.
I just want the BlackLion to drop there taxes. 15%!!!! greedy kittens!
Anet,
The recent WvW focused patch was great with one exception. I feel the pip rewards are too high and max out the skirmish tickets much too quickly for WvW focused players. I consider myself a casual player of moderate WvW rank; however, because my focus is on WvW, I am able to max out my skirmish tickets by Sunday with minimal effort and time commitment.
I know I am not alone in this situation because with very casual playtime my entire guild maxes our rewards by the end of the weekend. After that we are just waiting for reset so we can collect more tickets.
As it stands now, I simply log in to play with my guild and rotate leading private raids with some of our other commanders. Lowering the pip rewards might even inspire me to put up a public commander tag and lead a zeg in glorious siege filled battle, vanquishing enemies on the borderlands and conquering keeps. I might even allow rangers into such raids!
Please consider my modest proposal of lowering the pip rewards for all WvW players. I would even suggest a minimal WvW rank before pips could be earned. Rank 500 seems quite reasonable to me. It can be reached with very little effort by even the most casual WvW player.
I dont see how having minimal WvW rank before pips slow you down, obviously you are earning pips already so having a minimal rank dont really slow your personal progress down. But yeah i agree with you we max out the skirmish tickets much too quickly, i feel the same. And i did some calculation on what effect the pip accumulation the most, its that rank give you pips. So to fix the problem of you progress the reward track too quickly they should remove that rank give pips thing, that should solve your problem. Hope this will solve our problem.
Mithril rank here. The pip rank bonus system is absolutely unfair to new players and I am a bit disappointed to see so many fellow WvW players trying to put PvE players down. We’ve been complaining about WvW losing numbers and wondering about how to keep the game mode alive but now everyone is more worried about getting their extra pip than about keeping that fresh blood in WvW. There hasn’t been this much activity since the last tournaments, don’t you guys want to keep this going?
Our goal should be to keep WvW alive, get new players to join and stay, incentivise winning & fights along with server loyalty. You could have this and still reward veterans by having a higher base pip (say 3) and/or more pips for 1st, 2nd & 3rd place (say 5-4-3).
If a new guy in my guild gets 1 pip while I get 6 that’s a crazy difference. With a higher base he would get 6 and I would get 12. I still get twice as many but he can actually progress and if he commits close to 3hours a day he can still get Diamond, it’s a ton of time but it’s doable. Currently he would need like 17 hours which is complete nonsense.
Hell if base pip was higher, I wouldn’t even be mad if the rank bonus pip I get was lowered or even removed entirely. I still get access to exclusive skins by merit of being higher rank alone so it’s not like I get NOTHING.
B..bu..but I have been neglected by Anet for so long, shouldn’t I get reward few times faster than a new player? I mean I have been contributing so much to the wvw community by….?… i mean by somehow I made wvw better that kind of stuff. Anyway I deserve more reward than newbies to wvw even if i was doing that 10 min afk thing I do (tip for prestige hardcore vet wvw player, the decay start every 10 min, so go afk for 10 min comeback kill a mob then go afk again or web surfing somthing, YOU STILL GET WAY MORE REWARD PROGRESS THAN THOSE NEWBIES! LMAO!) Anyway as a hardcore wvw player who dedicated so much time and effort to the wvw community somehow, the pips are fine as it is. In fact new player should not even get pips at all, they need to be certain level to unlock them! (not that even matter at all since they barely get 1-2 LMAO!)
It’s hardly a huge bonus. Why are you so bitter that players that stuck by wvw have been proportionally rewarded for their efforts? Where is your sense of fair play? By the way, you two can earn These Rewards And More if you play the game.
I am not bitter, i think its a great system for people who stuck by certain game mode being proportionally rewarded for their efforts. That is why i think its great idea to implement this system to all reward, or at least as much as possible. For example a high level pvp player should always get more pips toward their reward track than a lower level pvp player who is new, even if they are in the same match, same team, but because the higher level pvp player have stuck by pvp for so long they deserve more pips. I mean I am a dragon rank in pvp, I just dont think its fair for some player who previously only do wvw and are level 1 in pvp, coming in pvp and earn the same amount of pips as I do. Its the same concept with wvw pip reward system. All I am asking for the same type of reward for other game mode also.
Yeah I totally agree with you, higher level pvp player should get bonus pips per win. I would recommend:
Starting at Dolyak: 1 extra pip
Wolf: 2 pip
Tiger: 3 pip
Bear: 4 pip
Shark: 5 pip
Phoenix: 6 pip
Dragon: 7 pipLOL did i miss something?
PvP was made easier for the casual PvE player.
Heck its why S1-4 was different from 5 and 6.
The PvP community hated how Anet made PvP seasons and the PvP rewards PvE friendly. I love seeing these threads where everyone wants it easier but say things like No legendary armor should be in raids because they are unique to raids along with the titles/AP/Guild Hall rewards.
Its so hilarious seeing these things, i cant wait for Anet to cave so i can completely quit this game. My god, to think this is what Anet wanted as there core base fans.
I dont get it, how does this making have anything with PvP community hated PvP rewards PvE friendly? In fact its a proposal that will make dedicated pvp community feel more rewarding. I mean most high level pvp player are the core pvp community, this is a proposal to integrated their pvp level and time they spend so they can progress the reward track faster than the causal pve people who are just there for rewards! its the same concept as the new wvw system! High level wvw players progress through reward faster by gaining more pips and high level pvp players progress through reward faster by gaining more pips. So I dont get it? what are you exactly againist? Do you want the reward system not effect by the player’s wvw or pvp level? Im super confuse on what you are trying to prove here.
On top of reward tracks that mimic PvE drops;
Free Tactics (These generally cost 1-3g to make, and your guild might use 3-6 on a reset night and 1-4 on other nights). Saves your guild quite a few gold.
New Siege Decorations, because we all know it’s Siege Wars 2
Transmutation Charges.
Unid dyes are now obtainable in WvW! Now you can dye for more than your server!
We get new skins, even if it takes awhile to earn.
Ascended armor now in a WvW vendor with new skins.
Reacquirable Misforged Weapons in Ascended variety.
New Legendary back item. The only thing lacklustre is the instant reward track progression (25points, much better if this was doubled), and the pip acquisition balance to reward more active playing (+1 for sentries and camps, +2 for towers, keeps and Stonemist).
Thanks for trying to answer my question, but I dont think it really solve my problem. I earn about 2-3 pips per tick toward that skirmish thing so I average get about 1 Skirmish Chest per hour, and each chest only provide about 60s-80s. The Tactics are worth more but is there anyway i can turn it into gold? As for the ascended armor and back piece, I can only play average of 3 hours a day most so average 20 hours a week, with that time i can only get the wood and bronze chest at most, so i get about 25 tickets a week max, but those armor cost hundreds and full set are in the thousands! If i play 3-4 hours a day everyday, it would still take me almost a full year to get a full set. My friend who do other stuff such as pvp told me rewards for doing other things is a lot more faster and i would be way better trying other game mode. I really like wvw and was just wondering somehow im not doing something. Cause im not gonna lie, i really dont feel a lot of difference in reward before and after the update.
You must be very new to wvw, cause if you are, you shouldn’t feel any difference. The update are meant to target higher level player only. Its more of a update on making high level wvw player feel more rewarding, as for new player like you, nothing really change. And unlucky for you, you don’t have all those extra experience bonus they have back then, there was even a time when you can purchase wvw levels through vendor! but its all gone. anyway, if you want more rewarding experience, you be better off doing pvp or pve stuff. The feeling of wvw are rewarding are for high level vet players only, but if you really like wvw, stick around 1-2 years then maybe at a higher level you might feel the difference this update has made.
Repping is really just a hold-over from a bygone era. Players no longer contribute to the guild they’re representing in everyday play. They can only increase guild favor during guild missions. So, who cares what’s rep’ed on a daily basis, right?
There are some logical considerations…
- If a player is not engaging with the guild or guild members much, she could be seen as uninterested in the welfare of the guild in general. Therefore, she could be asked to leave in favor of someone who’d be more invested in that guild.
- If a guild is set up as an R-mode group and it’s not getting enough player support in R-mode then something should change; the guild may take in more R-mode style players to support itself and let go of those who primarily play other modes.
- Some guilds want a player’s singular guild focus. These leaders are typically against multi-guilding in general. Know what the guild policies are going in.
- Anet currently uses rep to determine use of guild hall and services. They may be able to make a work-around and give players full access to all halls they are members of. Or, this may be really tough to do and not worth their time.
Obviously, I don’t know what your friend’s background situation is but just because she left this partiuclar guild, doesn’t mean you can’t still play with her, join her in a chat room or even another guild. I hope she finds a more welcoming guild for her playstyle.
To explain this situation better, she is very active player who participate guild events on weekly basis. But she is in 2 guild that constantly demanding reping, she is force to give up one basically and now she is unable to participate in the guild events that we usually do togather if most of you see reping is a good feature i dont mind that, but a good suggestion of would be not let other see if you are reping or not on the guild panel. you know, that square thing next to your name to show your reping or not status.

I love the game and the guild system come with it. But i really don’t see the benefit of only can represent 1 guild at a time but lets you join 5 guilds. the more you play, the more you will meet some awesome people and join their guild and meet more awesome people within the guild. But the problem is most of leaders of guilds would constantly pressure people and threaten to demote or kick. Recently a friend in one of my guild has left my guild (actually she was pretty much ask to leave) because she wasn’t representing the guild. It just really sucked to see someone i know so long have to leave not because they want to, but been pressure into leaving. She was pretty depress over the situation to the point that she didn’t play the game for days. What I am trying to say the the guild reping feature is not healthy for the community of this awesome game. I hope that there is a way that to represent all my guilds or just take away this feature in general. please support this post to make anet hear about this issue.
Edit:
ok i so read some of the reply by you guys stating the function of guild reping, i understand it still have some uses. so another suggestion would be take away the green square to identify who is reping or not. you know instead of crossing the square when not reping just let it stay the same as long as you are online.
