And as far as stats? What is the consensus?
So a bunch of us are getting 80 and it’s been a while since I have played and created a character. From what I can see most people are saying for WvW Berzerkers and potentially Celestial are our only option.
I have my weapon, armor and jewel crafting all 400+ now I’m trying to figure out what to build and what stats to put on things. Am I supposed to try to build all ascended gear now? Where is it recommended I start?
I have a bit of gold and ~100 Laurels if that helps.
As for spec I’ve got a hammer, Staff, Sword, Axe all Berzerkers. (Not sure what to pick for shield)
I’ve been Shiro Mallyx, but likely going Herald as soon as I have it finished.
Thanks in advanced!
So I’m not even sure if duoing exists. I haven’t played for just over a year. Before I left it seemed that the only way to PvP in WvW is zerging. I’ve seen a few videos of solo or duos since then that pick of stragglers or get some decent small skirmishes in.
I’m currently leveling an d/d ele, but my first character that I really enjoyed was my mesmer. The issue I have is that for roaming it’s incredibly slow. My duo partner has a thief or an engineer. So mobility is a necessity. Are there any builds that are worth trying on the mesmer? Should I be using a focus? Or has that gone the way of the dodo? Or should I just play my d/d ele?
Any help you all could give would be greatly appreciated!
Ah yes, Thief. This is one of the only games that they do not call it a rogue.
Thanks to the one person that had something useful to say though. It’s greatly appreciated. I wanted to start it leveling tonight so any help is wonderful!
Hello everyone,
A friend and I are reinstalling wanting to try out duoing in WvW or even spvp. We are looking for a complimenting few classes to play.
Thus far I have an 80 mesmer and rogue and he has an 80 rogue. But we are thinking of just rerolling and doing stuff from scratch. We want something that we will be able to skirmish with and be able to get way from a group of people instead of getting zerged down. He currently has a 20 engineer. But we don’t have to stick with it. What opinions do you veterans suggest.
Game doesn’t even launch when I use FWS program. I’m having the same issue as the OP. What drivers are you running ?
Pretty pathetic when the WvW content matches the PvE content in the WvW patch..

Map and chat not being in center screen is just silly. I do agree about character creation. Having to load the game up with a single monitor just to create a character is silly. They fixed it for Nvidia pretty quickly and ignored us.

I know ultra high end computers aren’t really abundant but if you have a UI fix for Nvidia Surround why the heck isn’t there anything for AMD yet? We’ve had 6 months of posts saying you’re working on it. How hard could it possibly be to come up with a resolution that mirrors the Nvidia results. This is terribly sad.

I’d love to see some fixes for this. It’s actually pretty sad that these posts are 6 months old and haven’t had any fixes for AMD users yet. Nvidia has the UI fix, why not us?
Well that wasn’t well thought through…. I’ve had a guild with friends since day one and not all of our stuff is maxxed out to lvl 5. If you only have a small group of friends that play casually then they don’t get any of the new stuff. What the heck is the point of making them so difficult to get. Furthermore, how am I supposed to get friends to play more if this is the case. “Hey guys they implemented a lot of new stuff! Unfortunately, we can’t do any of it unless we grind our guild points up..”
Thanks for the reply Ashley.
Your settings were quite similar to what I had it at, aside from you turning reflections off. I typically have the terrain (2nd option) on and had no issue.
I seemed to be getting better performance taking Frame Limiter off. I could hear my cards actually working for once. Vsync causes a lot of screen tearing in this game so I prefer to keep it off.
When turning around i go from 60 FPS to around 30 now, I haven’t tried it in a large battle, I’m afraid it’s going to bog it down terribly but we’ll see. Perhaps these are things you can mention to some devs. That and the fact that this game is poorly optimized with ATI cards. (can’t move UI for one thing is silly)
I suppose I can start turning settings down, but it’s something I didn’t really want to do considering, the power of my system.
Any other recommendations aside from scrapping an OS?
I’m actually still having the same issues. I was away for the week but my DX was up to date, which I figured it would be since another game I play installed some of the libraries.
Still the same issue, the game performed a lot better in Windows 7; at least 15 FPS improvement.. Any other tips or suggestions?
Ill take a look at the DX9 Runtimes, I was under the impression all of the runtimes would be up to date. (Though some libraries did seem to update with MSI Afterburner install)
As for the drivers. I’m running the latest and running the latest beta as well. Which in Windows 7 was absolutely amazing when it came to smoothing everything. I lock my FPS in game I suppose I can get another program to do that as well. I just didn’t need it prior to the Windows upgrade (Which was a fresh install)
I’m using Windows 8 Pro 64 bit, and yes every motherboard driver has been updated- as well as every Windows update done.
Hey guys,
So as the title states I’ve lost quite a bit of performance. Typically running around Lions arch and in WvW before patch i was receiving between 50-60 FPS sometimes it would occasionally dip lower but it wasn’t a concern. Now I can’t even seem to hit 30 FPS.
Here are my system specs. The video card drivers are identical to what I was using before as are most other drivers unless they had a specific Windows 8 version.
Are there any specific tweaks I should be doing ? Any way I can make the game playable again?
Anyone else experience any issues like this?
Here are my specs:
Intel 3820 @ 4.9 Ghz
Asus Rampage IV Extreme
Sapphire Vapor X 7970 Ghz Ed. X 2 (Crossfire)
32 gig Corsair Ram (CMZ32GX3M24A-1866C9)
3 × 27′ 2560 × 1440P monitors running at 8052 × 1440
How can people call this a troll thread. The queues when the server resets are legitimately 2 hours long which remain that way until the enemy gives up and doesn’t bother logging into WvW. That’s the problem. Since the new transfers this server has an overabundance of people pvping which cause incredibly long queue times until the point where the enemies just don’t bother logging in then it’s insta queue.. But for what ? Sitting around naked at a boarder keep like someone mentioned? I do see some points where we will be in tier 1, but what happens when our overpopulated server is doing the same then? The system as a whole needs some modification, xfers charges should be implemented or people are just going to be transferred. Creating animosity wasn’t the intent of this post. The intent is to get the devs to notice how this system is currently not working properly.
So I’m sure I’m not alone with the feelings that something needs to be changed with our server/WvW. A few weeks ago I guess a few hundred people from a two guilds transferred to our server. Since then it’s completely ruined the game for a huge amount of people.
The World V World system is now broken on our server. I know you see the statistics these guilds basically go in and steamroll things causing the other servers to give up and ruining it for everyone else.
I have a guild of around 10 people mainly wvw. We used to play for around 6 hours together after work. Since this transfer not only have the queue times gone up to 1-2 hours. But by the time we get in there, no one is left to play because they’ve all gotten fed up of getting farmed. There has to be a change. Now I know what you’re thinking; why don’t you just transfer to a low pop server.. Well how fair is that to force a small guild to switch due to the system being broken from these massive zerg guilds. We’ve spent weeks leveling up our guild to something that these other guilds can do in under a week.
I’m know I’m not the only one that feels this way I’m sure there are tons of guilds that are feeling the effects of these two zerg guilds joining our server and essentially ruining wvw for 3 servers every week. Please devs do something because you’re losing a lot of people. : (
@Diviner
The thieves that you were fighting yesterday are my Guildies. The human one is using a cloak and dagger spec and he is incredibly good at his character. He typically ninja rezzes any downed people in the middle of groups of enemies and is near impossible to kill. The person above that outlined the cloak and dagger spec was correct. You’re just dealing with a thief that knows how to use all of his abilities very well nothing fishy going on. For the record he’s using 30/30/10 on the spec.
I have yet to receive a response for my ticket. Hopefully they’re looking into it further since there are multiple reports for it. There is no way it isn’t a bug.
So apparently I’m not allowed to “Bump” this subject a moderator will instead of reading my post just trim it off.. How exactly am I to get an answer to this question. I’ve wrote a detailed bug report, I’ve submitted an unanswered ticket and I’ve created a forum post. I’m not sure what else to do with this. People have given me some great information on a possible compensation and exchange if this is indeed a bug, but there has been no notice of what to do from here. Any response from someone from A net would be greatly appreciated.
I’m getting the same amount. It’s pretty disheartening since it costs you a lot more than that just to break the 500 items required… I would have thought it would have been close to 30-50 silver.
I have no idea whether this is the proper place to put this, due to the fact that I’m not sure whether it’s a bug or intended.
I got a giant eye the other day so I put it into the forge to see what i could make with it. I happened to come across a recipe that required 250 Ancient Wood planks, 1 Giant Eye, 50 Mystic Coins and the Scroll. 250 ancient wood logs is a helluva lot of materials so I thought it must have been good. I looked around and no one seemed to know what it makes. So I thought it might be something completely unique that no one has seen before. I mean you require 750 ancient wood logs ! So I went about trying to obtain the stuff and finally did. I went and put it in the forge and what came out was absolutely shocking. A Mystic Staff…
The same thing that could have been made with a mere 40 wood planks, the coins and a scroll. Now I’m just looking for some Anet confirmation on whether that’s the intent. I mean it’s pretty upsetting to spend that amount of time to gather and purchase the logs to create this. So whether or not I’m out of luck or it’s a bug please let me know. If it isn’t a bug then let this serve as a warning to people to not bother with the recipe. Goodness I’m terribly disappointed with this.
Fantastic write up evocati, cooincidently I was testing this exact build earlier. Any reason why you don’t go for 25 points in inspiration? It seems better than the clone on dodge. Though I have only tested it on dummies. Real world might show that the clone and the extra crit might fare better though I suppose.
What spec would you go with GS Sword/Focus? I’ve only ever done the spec above for WvW. I typically don’t hump a tower I roam in a 5 man DAOC style and take points while the zerglings fight each other. I’ve never really used GS since it was pretty inferior to the Staff as far as survivabililty. Not to mention GS is more of a ranged weapon whereas staff I feel synergizes well with Sword/Focus Since it adds durability to the mesmer.
I just don’t see many mesmer builds “topping” what I currently use. It’s why I’m looking to branch out and try something new. It’s either that or roll something else. But the mesmer is a blast at times.
Yes, I figured that. I’m open to suggestions on any spec. I just want something “fresh” I really enjoy sword/focus. But aside from the build I’m running I cant see too many different ones that will benefit.
I’ve been currently using 0/15/25/25/5 Build with Sword/Pistol / Staff for WvW. While I’m pretty much unkillable 1v1 and a tough fight 2v2 I’m looking to spice things up a little. Here is my current gear:
I have 2 pieces of Jewelry to replace (Ring/Earing). I’m open to suggestions. For stats. As you can see I’ve been going a pretty well Balanced spec across the board. But I’m willing to get different sets of armor.
I’m looking to switch it up a little maybe try GS/Staff or pretty much anything. Something perhaps challenging to master. Any Opinions would be great..
Give me something unique.
Anyone else have any input ?
There is nothing more frustrating than getting that wub wub wub sound error aside from having it crash your game 5 min later. It wouldn’t be a huge deal if the queues weren’t 1-3 hours long, so getting your guild all queued up and in only to be booted sucks. Sometimes there are technical issues beyond your control. A 5 min grace period would resolve these issues.
Yes please., anything to add more flavor and a sense of achievement
+1
It’s also sad that you can’t talk to the opposite faction anymore as in beta. It’s making it become very dry. Some of us like to roam in a group and not roam with the zerg. With the LOD issue it’s sometimes you’re in the middle of a zerg before you even realize it..
I’m getting a bad link error when trying to go to your link.
Here is a build I came up with from reading some different posts.

Still not sure what stats to focus on though. Any help would be great!
Wells used to be a great interest but it seems that their cooldowns would make them pretty ineffective in combat
Hey Guys,
I’m posting this for a friend, I do not play a necro but I’m trying to help her build the best support necro possible. Our group mainly roams WvW as a small group taking smaller objectives and trying to get small group vs group fights. I’m trying to get her a build that has some mobility and basically is full support to help the group in case the zerg chases us.
As of now she runs with Staff and dagger/dagger. In full yellow crafted gear. But want’s to start crafting the endgame exotics. What stats are recommended. Toughness, Vit, Healing?
She obviously still wants to do some damage for PvE and typically runs with a bunch of minions.
Everything is open to opinions, spec, weapons and stat focus is what I’m looking for (runes too)
Many thanks in advanced !
Thanks for the feedback thus far. I wasn’t aware that the second weapon wasn’t being shown. I use Sword/Pistol / Staff
As far as chaotic transference, it stacks with undead so you get a bonus 10% which equates to around 66 condition(the 5% currently). Roughly an extra piece of condition gear.
For my final 3 jewelry I was thinking. Chrysocola Orichalcum Ring and two Emerald Orichalcum Earring. Bringing my toughness to ~1450 and i believe my condition damage will be roughly ~1425 with my power hitting ~1550.
Any thoughts? I’m also open to completely different specs. I’m trying to build well rounded gear so that I can switch it up whenever I get bored.
Hey Guys,
So I’m just looking for some opinions on different specs to try out. I currently am doing this build: http://gw2skills.net/editor/en/?fgEQNAW8alwzKqHVzgGaNJhZG9G5nZo8ojWQ5D4G
I find that I’m pretty much unkillable 1v1 and sometimes 2v1. My main focus is roaming WvW with a small group DAOC style picking off stragglers and pulling people from zerg, we also take smaller objectives to gain a bit of attention.
Here is a screenshot of my current gear:
I’m trying to keep most of the stats around a balanced level, while focusing on condition without going too heavy to mess up the other stats. I really like the survivablity that toughness is bringing to the table. I’m just wondering what you think are stats I should perhaps favour over others, or other specs to try out for a bit more flavour.
I have 3 exotic jewelry left to replace, and besides boots and gloves everything else is level 80 exotic with a rune of the undead. So any opinions on jewelry to replace and different fun specs would be greatly appreciated.
