I’m a guardian, and notice that most players have learned to mitigate my traps to the point where I find them only useful to drop in close range combat.
Yeah, traps are basically impossible to dodge nowadays. They practically suck you in. Also, You can never see them coming neither, because you know, the Guardian has no trap setting animation.
They totally have a setting animation, which doesn’t help much if you are already standing in the radius as it is set.
Agreed op, Balance patches are just like shuffling cards in a deck before a game. If your class gets a good hand, yay! If not, you have to play a style you don’t enjoy. .
I tried guardian bunker/meditation build with the mending amulet for the past two nights and am astonished at the sustain you can achieve if you slot in a mace/focus. 1v2’s last forever and 1v3’s are a good time waster for the enemy team.
Thank you Anet, i am really happy with this! But what about the dc-system. Will players not lose pips when someone is dcded during a match? Will be there changes for maps like the lords from legacy of foefire? And will be there class nerfs before league season 2?

Agree. This needs fixing. I was in a match 4v5 and we almost won and we still lost a pip.
Before I start I just want to say I love the new Ranked system and expect to enjoy the coming improvements even more.
What I would love is the ability to have all ranked matches appear in a list similar to hotjoins with the ability to spectate as an option. You could still be in queue while spectating. It think would change the dynamics of PVP for the better and build community.
I realize that this idea is possibly a lot of work but would be worth in my opinion.
In theory if your are skilled enough to move up in rank, your win ratio will be higher than 50%. The match making algorith should be different than it was for leagues to work, so I assume the new system doesn’t target a 50% win ratio by default.
I am also mourning the loss of our old PVP system.
Engis ar e probably enjoying their grenades, theives loving the new damage, guards loving their burns, eles loving being amazing at just about everything, warriors owning with rampage, necros with actual defense, mesmers melting people and stun/daze/immobilize/interupt spamming…. really I think the only one who got the Shafts are the rangers…. I literally just laugh everytime I see a ranger now.
I took down a Ranger with my Guardian scepter #1 skill ranged last night. I have to admit, that was a good feeling. . .
I guess it’s hard to generalize but your case is even worse than mine unless you were up againsts crappy players which I doubt.
I think all damage is too high. It’s at the point where tanky builds mean nothing. Am I alone here? Big fights don’t last very long at all anymore.
I still do okay but am not enjoying battles so much. .

Bunker was a boring build that I never used anyway. The point is that fights have gotten stupidly short. If you get caught on the short end of a 2:1 fight you pretty much get instagibbed.
I’m thinking of taking a break from PVP until they fix this rubish. Any classes that are still fun to PVP with out there? I found Necromancer to be doing okay. I do better with my second Necro Class than my Main Guardian these days.

I like the new system but it does seem to be over powered. Big fights no longer last more than a few seconds in some cases. That is less fun. I avoid thieves like crazy now. Even during matches thieves are calling themselves OP.

Lets not forget the network effect of having new players. There is value in a large player base that benefits players.

If you consider the fact that the free core game is in order to facilite new players, it is a kind of win-win. That being said, I am quite surprized that the expansion doesn’t by default give a few, not just one, character slots. Not very good IMO.
Often in PvP when close to death, I hit heal and watch my health rise to a healthy level then I get hit hard right after but it looks as though my new health level was not taken into account and I am downed immediately.
Anyone notice this? I am yet to check the damage numbers but I seriously doubt anyone could do this much damage. In many cases I have shields on that should block the attacks anyway.
I suspect lag from the client side and once the server resolves the order of events it determines my heal didn’t trigger on time. Does this sound right?
I’m looking for a team that will play at least once a week preferably more.
Looking for a serious weekly or bi-weekly tPvP group.
I run mainly with a guardian and sometimes a thief.
