Joltz, what profession do you main? I would like to potentially suggest tips or tricks, but I need to know that first.

Thanks bud but i know the tips and tricks your thinking of but feel free to post some. I have a ele, warrior and revanent.

Haha, you just so happen to pick the only three professions I don’t play.

Thanks, though. I at least know Herald has unlimited swiftness, blocks OH sword, and the option to zip past aggro’d mobs by targeting those a way in-front.

Warrior should be mobile enough with all their leaps, dashes, and frequent swiftness/blocks.

Elementalist would be the only one I could understand being annoyed over. But they have their ways too with fGS rush, Ride the Lightn., Blink, mistform, speed-boost from air, burning speed, and brief takes of invuln.

Ya my revanent is new just hit 80. Superspeed skill plus the faucets pretty much eliminate all movement impairment issues. Plus watching him go superspeed while crippled is hilarious

I guess its just an overall feeling of sluggishness in movement for me. Some dont mind it, some do i guess. Maybe i just feel it more comming from different mmo’s in the past. Perhaps a very slight movement speed increase in everything would do the trick. In any case i still enjoy it as is but i think its something that would improve the overall game experience. Purely preference.

I can’t know how others are but I get a little speed blind, if they would increase all movement speed with let’s say 10% I would Maby had noticed it in the beginning but a little while after I would feel that I was sluggish again. I feel it in towns all ready, I have the mastery to run faster in towns and now I still feel I am slow trying to use skills to leap faster and more.

Ya running in towns is like perma superspeed hah, i got that perk too. The feeling of sluggishness is something i noticed from when i started playing. A 10% increase i think would be right on.

Getting knicked from a salamander drake for 5 points of health trying to run past it shouldnt make me run slow for 10-15 seconds

That’s nothing compared to the 60 Second blindness/slow if you get within 10m of a dust mite.

But this a condition you can remove right away. Not talking about conditions, talking about plain damage hits BUT, another part of it is even after your condition free it still takes forever to get back to normal speed.

A lot of gw2 yoda talk but everyones missing the point that im talking about a middle of the road comprimise. Most of the answers here are based on all or nothing. All im saying is that it shouldnt feel like im trying to run through knee deep mud so much. Especially just trying to travel.

Sorry, but if you get hit, you are in combat. I don’t have an issue with it.

However, I most certainly do have issues where if you are not the one hit, you still end up “in combat” slow down.

Aka if a ranger pet, elemental summon, necro minons, rune/sigil summons get hit, YOU are the one slowed down. I flatly disagree with that. Until my character itself is hit or does the hitting, my character should not be forced into “in combat” speed.

Like i said, its all about how LONG and OFTEN your forced to move slow, not wether your in combat or not…

It’s not a matter of how much time it takes to get out of combat, but rather one of how far the enemies will chase and how much distance you need to put between you to break aggro. Simply continuing to run usually leaves the enemy following for a long time, especially if it has increased movement speed or movement skills. But if you use leaps, teleports, or rapid movement skills you can put enough of a gap that they will stop chasing early. At that point, you’ll lose aggro and resume faster out of combat speed.

Its not about anything here. I’m perfectly ok with how the game operates except this one specific issue. Its purely about what happens after you get hit and the amount of time your impaired from mostly the small hits but also in general as well.

I guess the easiest fix would just be to reduce the amount of time it takes to be considered out of combat. I like it all the way it is really but being slowed for upwards of 10 seconds from a heel nip just gets frustrating. If it didnt effect so much of the gameplay i wouldnt even be bothered by it. I think a good long 4 seconds would be fair. That way you really dont change much of as it is.

The combat speed debuff is there to add tension to areas and make them feel more dangerous. Personally I think it should be changed to only take affect under certain circumstances:

1) If the player uses a combat skill that targets a creature.
2) If the player is hit for a certain percentage of their hit points.
3) If the player is hit with a specific lockdown skill.

So a drake hitting you for 5 HP wouldn’t trip these conditions unless you turn around and hit them back. This is basically a QoL thing but would make a huge difference in traversing areas.

Exactly this. Mookah gets it. “thumbs up”

See the confusion here is that i really dont want to change the combat system. I’ll also say again that no matter what you do to remove conditions on yourself you are still stuck moving slow. All im saying is that it should be reduced somehow. Few ideas i had was maybe have it triggered by how much health you lose from a hit like if you lose say 10-20%, THEN have your movement impaired. Another one could be if you heal yourself to 100% health it lets you move normally again right away. Last thing is half the time you dont really have the option to run around enemies.

One thing i see people are missing here is even after you remove all conditions, you are STILL stuck moving super slow for the same amount of time. This has mostly to do with just traveling, but still even in combat its overkilled i think.

Im not one to complain much BUT can you pleeeeeease chill out on the movement reducing stuff/conditions? I cant take it anymore, have to at least ask. EVERY tiny little thing impaires you to snail speed to the point of insanity. High damage hits? yes, go ahead and snail me. But from absolutely everything seems ridiculous. (And yes im very aware things that reduce the amount of time your immobilized so please save the smartie-pants comments… ty

Please for the love of god get rid of or change the tone of the light armor chain clinging sound XD. Not all of them do it but half of them do and id really like to wear most of them! The Arcane outfit and Aurora armor are examples of a few. Its so high pitched that i cant wear them OR i have to turn down the treble so much that the game sounds absolutely horrible. Even a setting to turn off armor sounds would work.

High Pitched Chain Sounds While Running

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Joltz.8596

Joltz.8596

Hello! Its been a while since I posted about this so figured i’d post again. I find the chain clinking sounds while running extremely high pitched and annoying. I like the idea of it as far as a realism effect but its so high pitched that theres nothing I can do to tone it down WITHOUT making the rest of the game sounds and music sound muffled and low quality. Im also running a light armor Elementalist that seems to have the clinking sounds on armor that shouldnt really have it in my opinion as well. Anyone else agree be great to hear from you!

VERY BASIC GLITCH THAT SHOULD HAVE BEEN NOTICED FROM THE BEGINNING

RACE: HUMAN MALE
ARMOR: LIGHT KODA

ALL the Light Koda leggings have the upper to lower thighs clipping through. Its most noticable on medium to large physique’s . Nothing special or custom at all. The glitch is solely in the leggings piece. Slender builds it is not as noticable but its still there, especially when moving around.

i suppose i should have given my stats ect. im as tough as a staff ele gets with a good amount of damage from gear and base traits, including all the defensive traits/spells ect and survive well. its just a general thing thats bugged me for a while now. seems like the answer is simply being aggroed more the higher your toughness. thanks for all the feedback

the only possible explanation i thought of before is what dagrdagaz said about enemies “like” you more. If thats the case i would think it wouldnt be fair to have enemies “single you out” because of it. I’m not asking to be undefeatable, just better. My testing of this is just so noticable that i havent broken it down to numbers, just through gameplay. I guess the point im trying to make is if i put more into toughness, i should feel “tougher”, and more survivable.

I dont know about anyone else BUT, toughness does not seem to work right. Not only does it seem to make little difference no matter how many points i put into it, it even seems to have a complete OPPOSITE effect, i.e. the more points i put into it, the harder u get hit. This makes no sense whatsover. Its very frustrating because i spend all this time and gold to get the armor and weapons suited to it only to find that it has the opposite effect. I run a staff elementalist so maybe its just a staff ele bug? or all light armor? i dont know. So it would be nice if this was fixed to at least have some kind of a noticable difference. Ive been playing for about 5 months or so and it has always been like this. If anyone agrees gimme a shout out. Thank you.

This is a simply explained armor art bug. All human male with medium to largest physique has the thighs clipping through the light koda leggings (Way of Koda). I dont have a picture as I have switched back to the smaller body. I’d like to switch back eventually as I much prefer the look of the medium physique with this armor.

Really Annoying Armor Sound When Running

Joltz.8596

Hi all. I only found one other post about this which was left unanswered. When i run with certain armor it makes a really high pitched sound of the metal parts clanking together. I dont mind the effect but its ear piercing and the only way i can turn it down is through my equalizer. The problem with that though is that it ruins all the other cool game sounds! I also tryed lowering sound quality which doesnt work. Just wondering if theres a fix for this now or comming soon?

well the info is much appreciated but im strictly talking about the staff Ele topic. i understand about the advantages of other professions. im quite good with the skills i have, its just an overall way too squishy complaint more than anything. plenty of others seem to agree browsing around the forums. i dont mind being a little squishy because its a fun challenge. i just think its a little too over the top squishy.

I’m sure this has been brought up countless times but i guess the more comments the better. So ive always loved playing a mage in any mmo and a staff Ele is what ive been playing because its basically the true “mage” in this game. No matter how i arrange my stats, traits, skills, buffs and armor, it never really seems to make a difference in how fast i die and how hard i get hit. I have read everything about survivabilty through using daggers, and its all cool and great and fun to play BUT…. i dont want to use daggers! i want to use staff and be able to at least take a decent amount of hits without falling on my butt in 5 seconds. To me it seems the problem is mostly an armor issue. It should make you wayyyy tougher than it does even if it is light armor, So theres my one little beef about the game. Other than that its an amazing game and love it. The game should be just as enjoyable playing a staff Ele as any other race!
