I’ll completely replace the dueling line by chronomancer in PvE anyways because of the phantasm upkeep ;3. I will use dueling when I need to constantly create clones, think of condition mesmer, shatter (as main source of damage) mesmer.
I love the Chronomancer’s wells (thought behind it & animation) but I can’t seem to use them to their full extend in sPvP/duels and WvW roaming. I personally thing that the cast time is rather long and my opponent will never get hit by the final burst damage/CC (well of calamity & gravity well). I’ve found that the only way to have a chance at using wells is to keep your enemy in that with a double shield 5, powerblock (+100% chance to inflict stun trait) and a succeful immobalise/f3. Which is incredibly hard to perform even if your opponent does not have any stunbreaker or mobility skills (teleports/blinks/shadowsteps).
I was wondering.. I am a fairly decent mesmer but I’ve been struggeling with one thing. Being in a zerg as my mesmer. I do not really know what to do besides placing some glamour skills and timewarp and placing a portal here and there. Ofcourse I deal a good amount of damage but it is mostly targeted at 1 person while eles and necros have big AOE spells (wells, staff marks and prettymuch everything for staff ele ;3). I’ve been trying to really make an impact on zergs but I don’t feel it.
Now my plan was to be an interrupt power mesmer who locks down people who charge into my team or lock down people that are in the enemy’s backline (for example a bunch of eles casting meteor shower). But that didn’t seem to work.
Do you guys have any tips or builds (with explanation)?

TLDR: I am looking for a game changing mesmer WVW zerg playstyle that focusses on AOE control.
My guess is they’re gonna just do something about mesmers being able to 1-shot people from stealth.
Though honestly it’s not just mesmer that’s a bit over the top right now. Burn guard can knock you down stupid fast if you’re not closely watching conditions, warrior’s got about a million auto-activated defenses, sword ranger is surprisingly strong, etc. I wouldn’t be surprised if the way things are balanced now is right about where we’re gonna end up staying.
Honestly the only build that is more or less a non-issue for me these days is LB ranger.
Our ‘1 shot’ from stealth is incredibly easy to dodge if you just pay attention, and then we can’t do anything but retreat for the next 15 seconds. Thieves however can keep spamming their 1 shot ability and can even one shot you with conditions. They also have longer duration stealth, sustained damage and more evades than mesmers have.
Let us have some good burst damage… I do not feel like standing in de backline using glamours all the time and doing no damage

I think condi overall is fine, some adjustments need to be made for sure because balance is hard. The only thing that I personally think needs a big nerf is burning. Nowadays PVP is filled with elementalist that apply 15k per second burning which is not fun anymore ;_;
Now first off I’d like to say that the mesmer’s core specialisation artwork is AMAZING. Now I was wondering if there was a wallpaper version of the ‘Illusions’ specialisation because I love it so much..
