the initiative on sword skill 2 shadow return should be WAY higher, it is just a spammable, almost free, stunbreaker ^^ i did a post about this, they seem not to give a dammn crap

Currently Warriors are able to carry a kitten greatsword and a kitten shield, and also use a banner on the battlefield wich transforms every player on korean. it feels really overpowered

they clearly want thiefs to become s/d 3 spam lords. This is a HUGE nerf that wasn’t expected, so was the mug nerf. It’s been 2 consecutive nerfs already. Thief was close to balance, was dammn fine, u are breaking it just because hot-join crap qq’s on the forums. Im quitting this game for some time, once again. regards

So i was having a coffee reading this post. I don’t main necro that’s to be said. But i have played it quite enough to understand how the “vigor issue” is a certainly a big problem for them.

I thougt: what about making one of the necro weapon abilities to actually steal vigor from targets? I mean, it does make sense after all, it is something that would fit with the “lore”.
I was thinking on the offhand dagger number 4 skill wich sends conditions to foes. What about adding an effect on it so it removes 1,5 of the current vigor from enemy target? (assuming 2 would be the 2 evades) and leech 1 evade from them. It would be insanely strategic, forcing enemies either to weapon swap to benefit from energy sigils or to use defensive utilities or just wait the vigor to regen and eat the dmg while giving the necro another so much needed evade on the close-combat weapon set every time that skill is off cd.
Notice this would be hard to abuse and not op in any way since the range on this weapon skill is not that much and that means the necro is at danger staying in a risky position.
I think this wouldn’t concern Pve either, since stealing vigor from npcs is like, yeh.
Thoughts?

How are you “forced to play a build based on a bug mechanic”. When S/P and S/D have existed since launch. What because of Flanking strike stealing 2 boons instead of removing 1? Get real hombre

Inf strike to the trebuchet from the bottom of the treb. Simply go back and forth.
Inf strike from atop the henge on the left side behind pillar, break LoS everytime doesn’t require 1200 range.
Inf strike back and forth from behind that piece of shrapnel at Mine. Inf strike from the corner of the stairs at Keep break LoS everyday. Less than 1200 range. Though Inf strike to Clocktower is less than 1200 too mind you.
Inf strike from behind the rocks on bear to players in the middle.
Inf strike from under the bridge at alter to players on the point.
Inf strike from atop the temple upper layer.
Inf strike behind pillar at Gate.
Inf strike behind the fencing at waterfall and quarry. Inf strike from the upper levels down onto graveyard.
Inf strike + Shadowstep/Inf signet+Steal (maybe throw in a IA) to cross 1500-3900 units such as between graveyard to side points when there is an opponent on the point.

what? mesmer can do what? blinks are different story, the thief already have the chance to do that, as every class with blinks does. The infiltrator strike is not supossed to be a blink but an attack.

How is the the blink different, as a mesmer who isnt nearly as squishi as a thief you just port instant to clocktower spot, a thief is squishi as hell while a mesmer can take damage and do a lot of damage while using the blink exploit, its the same to me, I think its fun and in tournies when I play with my guild we know something can come form a thief or mesmer…either you remove then both or just learn to live and play against it

It’s totally diferent. With a blink u come inside the fight with a cooldown cost, and you dont have the chance to instantly get off from it with an stun-breaker and repeat.

The title says it all. I play thief, and i don’t want to be forced to play a build based on a bug mechanic that i don’t enjoy playing but that is so good that must be played. So the bug itself is very well known by everyone already, the shadowstep after the infiltrator strike is supossed to be 1200 range, but it has literally no range, i have tried with a mesmer using his portal at max range and i was able to shadowstep back.

So is this skill supossed to be a self portal with no cd for thief that can use (and is stun breaker) for 15 seconds?

Not to mention the clear abuse some thiefs are doing on kyhlo where u can just use infiltrator strike from outside the clock tower to a marked target inside, then shadowstep outside and repeat. This issue needs serious fix.

Notice that i’m not talking about how cheap on initiative cost this ability is, wich may be another discussion, this is just a bug xploit.

Practice Times : Any, pretty much online all the time but mornings.

Experience: I have played sPvP since release, i am rank 42, i stopped for like 2 months for personal affairs. I have over 1,5k + tournaments with guardian, and around 700 with mesmer. I would prefer to play mesmer but as i said i could do anything.

Other (Anything else that you would like to add): I can speak english fluently on voice-chats and i always keep a positive mind either on victory or defeat

So the basic idea is: merge conquest with deathmatch.
Imagine a new arena map, as soon as it begins both teams are face to face, countdown from 10 seconds, a mid point, no other points yet. The first team killing the other team gets the mid point capped, then the second phase of the game begins. The winning team spawns on the mid point wich is capped for them, now it starts giving points to them, but now the side points appear, the team whom lost the deathmatch spawns all at the same time on a spawn area, then they decide either to attack mid, split for side points, or well.. many options. Now the first team scoring 500 wins, just as usual.

This way would prevent teams to run “spike” setups wich may happen in deathmach only mode. Also, running full bunker setup wouldn’t be possible, as killing the others is mandatory.

Just brainstorming, opinions?

I like the schedule in terms of objetives, it just sucks on it’s timing. Many people left already, few ( like me ) came back with ladders. The thing is that anet might think they have infinite time to develop the desired sPvP as long as gw2 it’s doing money with pve, so spvp looks like a plus; it is just not the main business.

But don’t be wrong, as soon as there is any other mmo pvp game out there competing with you, you will loose the chance. PvP community will not wait forever. Ever heard of oportunity cost? try explaining that to your bosses guys.

sPvP team needs attention from the company, and that is your fault not getting it-not earning it.

I can bet that you are trying to time the sPvP team schedules with pve teams and other company areas, if that is so, that’s a big fail. The pve timings and pvp timings MUST be different due to the innate nature of the pvp itself. PvP needs constant “movement”, the people playing pvp is what makes the pvp, there must be clear horizonts, reasons to practice, reasons to invest time for the pvp. We can`t be satisfied having a little chapter on the patch notes for the pvp. PvP patches should have their own timing, like if the pve didn’t exist.

I guess you get the point. Sorry for the long post.

Smart thing to do would be to create a group and play that way if you can’t stand pug’s in tournaments.

It is not a tournament, is a 1 freaking ranked match. Many other games have different ladders for solo-q and premades, and thats how it has to be for many reasons wich im too lazy to enlighten you.

I wouldn’t expect too many PvP or even balance/class/bugfixes until 2013.

ANet’s plans were always PvE events in Oct, Nov and Dec. So their efforts are now focused on the Xmas event for now. After “event season” is finished, maybe then they can start looking at more general features/fixes.

If this is true i see a massive getaway :p, people is just getting tired even those patience ones, myself included. There is a real chance for having a rpg third person game on the e-sport scene, we thought it could be GW2. IF they truly focus on pve this game will be a pve game with some pvp candys, nothing else. It`s a shame they are loosing the opportunity, maybe in a short time there is other company who realize this and take the correct decissions.

No, the next patch will not magically make GW2 an e-sport. Even if all of the e-sports infrastructure was released, it still wouldn’t make the game an e-sport. That would take time to develop.

They just cant’t keep the secretism on this matter. An official post with a release day for custom servers and stuff is needed, the people is fleeing to other games, even those whom had hope for this to be an eSport.

So i just wanted to be answered to the million dollar question: are we getting the custom servers and ladderboards on the next patch? we have been waiting for long now since release, been said this features would come; and we have waited just like childrens waiting for Santa. The people is getting really annoyed for not having a custom server to practice or even to test range on certain abilities on certain maps. The e-sport goal is nice, we all want it. Wont happen with more pve-event. Give us the solid tpvp community this answer, keep our hopes up.

Someone in my team said that the holy trinity is to mmo videogames what the sphere is to the physics, a perfect concept. I do agree with this: supports are just unnefective against high burst teams ( aka eclipsia ss, Oo, …. etc) so you are only left with the option to play burst urself or pure bunker setups. This is just true. BUT:

Removing healers did no such thing.

You wouldn’t even need DPS classes, as Conquest is about point control. You’d just play 3x tank 2x healer with knockbacks and roots. Once a point is yours, it’s not going away.

All your complaining stems from how Conquest is designed to favor extremities rather than more balanced specs.

Its certainly true. So its a hard decision what anet is facing here and i fear this can be the struggle for gw2. Conquest system ( wich i like ) + No healer ( wich i don’t like )

I actually like the conquest system, and find it really fun. If you want a 5v5 deathmatch go back wow or cs. The conquest system adds a huge estrategy side for tPvP play and im glad they won’t change it but look for it’s balance.

This is something you devs must fix soon. The few stable teams are being forced back to free tournaments due to the long q’s wait, therefore our progression is being shot down and the people in free tournaments are already complaining about the match-make system and the “hate” anet has about casual players.

i think this should be top priority for the gw2 PvP team. Keep the teams willing for the e-sport as much as you on your side. Regards.

It`s been 2 days already that my team has been forced to go free tournaments because paid tournamets weren`t popping at all.

It`s not my intention here to blame or to cry at anyone. I just want to know what is happening with paid queues. The past week, they were popping normally.

My team plays normally from 16:00 to 21:00. Some people said me that paid tournaments are only popping on night time. That can be really… negative, what is the matter with it? Did the people ran out of tickets? There are not enough teams for it?

It`s like if we had to set the times with the other 10-15 regular teams to play paids.

I hope a dev answer on this subject, im especially concerned about how are they going to handle this issue. Regards.

Get 2 “bunkers” to attack their far point, don`t protect yours. The other 3 people go mid point, and instant delete the guardian, how ? u might wonder -> timewarp, backstab thief. If the 2 bunkers survived, tell them back to mid. Now hold mid point and recover the spawn base if was lost, or just hold this 2 points if they didn`t. They simply can`t be everywhere.

I´m i the only one around here who thinks the pvp is exciting, fresh, and addictive?

Of course it needs it balancing, bug fixes, etc. But that´s something normal in every game, not to mention a new game.

The pvp itself is really fun, and as a hardcore pvp gamer like me, i haven´t been truly amazed with a game pvp like this since DAoC, and i have played every mmo pvp game out there.

My team is playing everyday tPvP with the hope to see gw2 as an e-sport someday.

Just wanted to say this, as i logged in the forums and saw like 20 cry, post. 10x, the game is boring, and etc. Some positive feedback doesn´t hurt guys

I actually like the character swap in tournaments. It offers so much variety to the team setups that i think it can be really positive. But i would make it more “competitive” and less random. In my opinion teams should have 3 options to swap characters, and use them wisely during the tournament, just like in football. This can be an addition to the strategies or just a random bug abuse anet hasnt decided how to fix yet. I like more the first option.
