For me the MMR is not that important. But I do want to see how I performed compared to my peers. Did I do exceptionally well against a better opponent? Did I lose because I played bad or was it because the other team out-classed me?
You can already deduce some of this information. Every hour you can see on the leader-board how good/bad you did by the amount of points gained/lost divided by the amount of matches. You could get an exact result by only playing one game an hour. This is not an ideal solution.
It would be nice to get this feedback immediately after the match has finished in the score window. Including the odds you would win/lose this game and how much points are added or removed from your score. Optionally including the average rank/MMR of all the players of your team and the opponents team.
This way you avoid some of the negative consequences of showing MMR, but you can still get some direct feedback on your performance.
If people are blocked by many people, this can be a good indicator they are annoying. Let say everyone who is at least blocked by 10 people are considered those annoying people. Let the matchmaking put these people together in 1 team, so that we ‘good’ people don’t have to deal with them.
These people could also be banned, let’s give them a timeout for being to disruptive to other people.

I play engineer. Used to play with rabid and pistol/shield bombs. Since last two weeks I switched to celestial grenade/rifle.
Answer to your question: “What you are losing to?”. Mostly because other team has better map control. Or wins more battles on points. My guess is because they are overall better.
I must add to my previous post that I do like GW2 PvP.
I do encounter good matches where both, my team and the opponents are good. I don’t mind loosing from a team when we have a good team and we did the best we could and loose because the other are better. I am just saying that this seems to happen less then before.
The reason I post this, is because I want to the developer to know my experience. I hope this can help him to improve something.
About your statement: “if you want a number to justify your spot in this game”:
I enjoy pvp, because I like to compete against real people instead of AI. I like the team based setting. I like to have fair matches. To win a PvP match by itself is rewarding. The ladder system adds something extra on top of that to strive for something to show off. It does motivate to play more.

Before PvP Update
Played casual soloQ en some teamQ. If I really focused on playing sPvP, I manage to get in top 1000 of soloQ.
My experience was that I always get the best games when I play off-peak hours. (UTC+1) So during the day before 15.00. Or Saturday or Sunday morning. Team members seem to know what to do on the map, right positioning and playing well. And didn’t AFK, leave or rage.
During peak hours (18:00 – 23:00) I mostly had bad matches. With people AFK, leave, Rage. People didn’t know what to do on the map. Like double capping. Or zerging. Not positioning correctly, not going mid etc.
My win/loss ratio was about 51% with 600 games played
After PvP Update
Since the ladder I set myself the goal I want to reach the top 250 on the ladder (and stay there). I do this by joining by myself in the ranked arena. I have no team.
Now I encounter a lot of bad matches at any time (off-peak and peak) where I play with people who do not position themselves correctly on the map. The opponent is mostly better. It is really frustrating that I win my 1 versus 1 battles and manage to keep points or contest opponents points but still loose the game because the rest of the team is loosing their battles. This results in a lot of losses. The losses where expected because I almost never lose points on the ladder.
Every game takes about 15 minutes. So if you loose 4 games in a row, 1 hour has past and my ladder standing is still the same. Loosing also makes reward and rank progression slower. My win/loss ration on in ranked arena is 40% with 70 games played since beginning of the test ladder. 28 wins and 42 losses. I have 24 points.
Right now I feel burned out. I have spent about 17,5 hours playing, but not progressing much more on the ladder. And encountering a lot of loses, that feel undeserved, because I played well. I can better play unranked, than at least I win more. In unranked my win/loss is 50%. But I do like the idea of the ladder, so that is why i prefer to play ranked.
I hope this story will help to improve the matchmaking experience for people who queue by themselves.
1) If you look at the Algoritm at http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/PvP_Matchmaking_Algorithm you will see rank is factored into the match making. So ‘time spend’ is taken into account.
2) On this forum developers have stated that MMR for ranked que is based on you rating of teamQ.

Brief description of what you’re seeing
10 minutes in the match. Everyone standing still. Unable to cast skills. After first freeze I close game and restart. After being connected I had 2 more lag spikes, but only for couple of seconds each.
In the mean time I monitored my internet connection, that one has been stable the whole time.
The lag is really bad, because you loose most progression. You won’t get the full amount of points awarded. Especially now there is a PvP weekend. I don’t trust GW2 to work with Spvp. In WvW and PvE I have no lag problems.

Brief description of what you’re seeing
After 5-10 minutes of playing on the map, i was unable to cast skills, everyone standing still. Can still walk around. After closing the game and reconnecting it looked like multiple people from both teams had disconnected. In the pevious game also two people from both sides disconnected.
Also checked my own intern connection, that one was still working. I could ping a DNS server (130.89.1.2)

I joined solo queue. When I get popup and want to join match, I receive the error: “Guild wars has been updated. Please exit and relaunch”.
Relaunching the game is not updating the game. Popup for match keeps on popping. Also all hot joins are empty. Everyone in SPvP has the same problem.
Following query in YQL still gives me connection errors:
SELECT * FROM json WHERE url=“https://api.guildwars2.com/v1/world_names.json”
result:
So I tried some other HTTPS Json url, which did work in YQL:
SELECT * FROM json WHERE url=“https://www.facebook.com/feeds/page.php?id=397319800348866&format=json”
Result:
Why does the JSON url give an connection error in YQL?
Exited by the news of the new API, I wanted to try to build something with yahoo pipes. But now I get a error message. Can someone explain why I get it?
I started with a simple application that requests the server names and displays these:
http://pipes.yahoo.com/pipes/pipe.info?_id=4c55394abb00ed5734fd48a530fbfc0b
At first i get the error the results where 0. But now i get the following error: “Error fetching https://api.guildwars2.com/v1/world_names.json. Response: Forbidden (403)”
Does this have something to do with the https access? Can I resolve this in yahoo pipes?
