Improving "Revive" Interaction

Ideally dead players would waypoint. But since the onus is on them and there could be trolls or people who don’t share that mentality, why make it difficult for people who are built around healing and reviving and trying to play a positive role? I was quite deterred from reviving during Teq because I was wasting my time with dead players when my DPS would outweigh the time spent reviving them (and having them go down again). In my opinion this is negatively impacting the dynamics when really there’s a nicer solution.

This has bothered me for some time now, but it got incredibly frustrating during the Tequatl fight.

Problem:
When there are many downed players or NPCs, “Revive” interaction targeting is difficult. If I want to target a specific person based on criteria like “Not an NPC” or “Not dead”, I need to manually spot them and left-click target (unless I’m missing some hotkey combo). When the floor is littered with people, I need to trial-and-error my reviving.

Proposals:
- Prioritize “downed” player characters for the ‘F’ to interact command.
- Color-code the UI label for the interaction based on the revive type (since we already see a blue-ish color for revive and yellow for most other things).

Thanks!

I agree generally with OP.
The only thing that concerns me is the glowing tag idea on minimap. I don’t think the benefits (which seems to escape me) is worth “cluttering” minimap/UI.
Still, the sentiment is there that support role needs to be recognized. I’m always missing out on loot because I’m too busy keeping people alive.

Dragon Bash: Investigation Step Fallthrough

Hi,

I tried searching the forums but couldn’t find anything pertaining to this yet.
I logged on today to get in on the Dragon Bash action. I was around for the first cutscene with the council members at the lighting, but haven’t logged on since. When I completed the next step in sequence in Divinity’s Reach and went back to LA for the following cutscene (trying not to spoil here), I was presented with two letters in my mailbox instead of one for the next event step. In summary, I believe I shouldn’t have received two letters, but rather one, since the more recent letter provides story information.

Hi guys,

I realize there’s not a whole lot anyone can do to help me or maybe you’re already rolling your eyes and thinking I’ve left em in my bank somewhere. But I’ve lost the three minis that came from the gem store for Super Adventure Box.
I’ve been SABing exclusively on my main and after the first day of not SABing, I can’t seem to find my minipets. My posting here is in search of potential ways I could have done this to myself.
I tried selling another mini that was in my back and the merchants don’t take him. So I will assume that minipets are not sellable to NPC merchants.
I haven’t sent a letter to anyone in ages.
Guild bank has been checked as well as my bank including any collapsable tabs.
If there’s a Sherlock out there who can provide hints I’d be grateful

Thanks!

Thanks for suggesting this.

I just salvaged my shield thinking it was loot I found during my dungeon run. Swapping from a main+off to a 2h weapon is incredibly frustrating with respect to inventory management.

Also, not to be completely negative, but a per-item locking mechanism seems like it might be more trouble than its worth for both the player and ANet.

Warrior Hammer - Staggering blow (4)

I like the idea of a hammer warrior. I’ve been using it as my primary weapon since launch on my main. In case it’s relevant, I’m decent at using #4 in PvP (or at least I consider myself able to).
However, just because people can use it fine or even exceptionally well, can it not be the case that this root is an unnecessary barrier to entry? I’m interested to see if there’s a reason there’s a root on it, and what that impacts.

When they removed the root on #3, I felt that combat overall was more fluid. It’s not that I couldn’t hit before the change, but it felt disruptive to have to stop, angle the hit, and release. Now, when I need to use it for say kiting, I can retreat while facing a mob and release it for the cripple. I don’t think it made any significant impact in terms of being superior or OP. It’s not even about being “easy mode”. It feels more natural and fluid in combat, which seems to have been one of ANet’s design goals.

So with that in mind, I’m wondering about the impact of removing #4’s root with respect to breaking gameplay. If it doesn’t impact anything in terms of game balance, then why should we create this barrier to entry? As it is, we have a chanelling #5, and at worst case there’s swiftness on a warrior using it as he/she charges in. There’s ample visual cue to dodge or block it. I would be inclined to say the same for #4. If there was a wider arc or a more significant knockback distance, sure removing the root might make it crazy.

Acct.-based Karma takes away from the individuality of your characters from a design perspective. I’m a mechanics-minded person, and so I also see why this suggestion is being made. It’s easier. But then there’s no deeper connection to your character (if you have any). There’s different types of people playing the game, and for some, it’s a way to show devotion and time spent on a character. If things are character-based, then you can show it off as something this character earned.

Dynamic respawn algorithm - "respawn range"

The concept of the modified timer makes sense to me. It’s akin to the boss scaling, except this would be scaling respawn to the player density.
For more fine-tuning, add a “half-life” check to re-assess player density. Or use map metrics if ANet has it on hand to apply modifiers per patch/update to this respawn timer for say really desolate areas.

Hi,

I already searched the forums and only found this: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/bugs/Superior-Rune-of-the-Soldier-bug/first#post1022604

I’m adding to the rune bug because I’ve been playing PvE and while conditions are indeed removed as expected normally, it seems that conditions are not removed while underwater.

The Epic Takedown of Bjarl the Bugged

in Fractals, Dungeons & Raids

KSops.2846

There’s a lot of posts regarding Bjarl being bugged.
I’m not a great storyteller, so you can skim to the end for the summary.

I’ve had the greatest honor, to take down Bjarl, with four guildies while this bug is up.
We got stopped on fractal 2 twice today during crashes. We decided to get something done today.
ANet launches Monday patch as we enter CoE. np. It’s a dungeon. Should take an hr or two tops. ANet is generous enough to give us three hours. Then we run into Bjarl.
Ran around confused until someone decided to wiki. 1hr 45min to finish dungeon. And so we said to heck with it. We’re gonna get something out of today. Condition dmg is armor ignoring, so it’s likely going to have the largest impact. We certainly kittened ourselves not knowing we needed to spec for condition damage. We scraped together all the condition damage we could muster, and just unleashed. Every time the system message comes up to warn us, we’re doing visual checks on his health bar to calculate if this is feasible. Sometimes, it felt like the bar didn’t move. Other times, after a really nice time warp, it was dropping like mad (1/10th?) 15 min to go and we discover there’s another boss at the end. Cool.
Zerg-ressurecting, throwing ourselves with whatever DPS we have, switching tank off for more DPS. We finally strike him down, skip cutscene like no tomorrow, and as we click accept and run to the exit, we get cut off.
Did we get our tokens? Yes.
We howled and screamed over vent in celebration.

It really was amazing that a dungeon-breaking bug would cause such an intense and bonding experience with guildies; some who I know IRL. We’ve been rather upset at the lost progress all day. And I’m sure some of my other party members are still fuming over incomplete fractal runs. But I thought that this might lighten the mood for those upset about the problems we’ve seen so far.

I don’t take my gaming uber-seriously, so despite this game being buggy, I still stand by ANet. The philosophy behind the design and the intent is pure, strong, and fresh. I’ve been a long time GW1 player and I forsee another many amazing years of GW2.

I just encountered this problem. I’m not sure in which order the cutscenes were, but I got two for what would seem to be for the previous two choices. I had issues targeting a particular character so instead I used ‘F’ to interact for cutscene. Still had issues selecting an NPC for accepting the next quest, I so moved closer to the whispers agent and used ‘F’ yet again.

The CoF Buff: My opinions

in Fractals, Dungeons & Raids

KSops.2846

I haven’t touched the dungeon yet, so I can’t really comment much on the changes made to it. However, I think something that should be considered is the lack of constructive criticism and the excessive amount of discontent there is. If you’ve played GW1 for any amount of time, you’ll know that they have a strong iterative design process and they continue to re-assess and fix things they feel are wrong. ANet reads through the forum and flooding this with anything but constructive criticism delays the process. Likely, since the original problem is effectively damaging the quality of the game, the fix that was made should likely be viewed as an emergency patch to prevent token farming. As with any live product, there’s priority and emergency calls that have to be made. I highly doubt Robert’s design justifications are anything close to the final state of the dungeon, but more of a temporary fix until the content can become meaningful.
