Adding 2 things I have recently brought up on the forums to this thread as I feel it touches many of the problems with Mallyx atm.
Diabolic Inferno
Not sure if it’s a bug or intended but when you activate either Facet of Chaos or Energy Expulsion, Diabolic Inferno is not cast.
Not sure why Diabolic Inferno wouldn’t work with Facet of Chaos when it does work with Embrace the Darkness seeing as both drain upkeep. It does work however with Chaotic Release. But on a 45 second cooldown it serves next to no purpose with the Diabolic Inferno trait which should be used as frequently as possible to actually serve as a benefit.
Mace Bug
I think there may be a bug with our mace #1 skill(s) (which I’ll refer to as our auto attack or AA). The cast/attack time is off by about half a second and prevents any fluid attack options for using/weaving the #1 and #2 mace skills.
So the mace auto attack for a Revenant has 3 attacks in it’s chain.
1st Misery Swipe – 1/4 second attack time
2nd Anguish Swipe – 1/2 second attack time
3rd Manifest Toxin – 1/2 second attack time
The Mace #2 is Searing Fissure has a 3/4 second attack time and has a 3 second recharge that begins once the skill completes it’s cast.
2 full auto attack rotations for our mace is 2 1/2 seconds but it doesnt work out that way. Its more like 3 1/2 seconds. There appears to be this 1/2 second lull after Manifest toxin finishes casting.

Sad thing is, we are missing out on either our burn damage or poison damage depending on if we decide to finish the auto-attack chain, or cancelling it by casting searing fissure right away.

I can only think of two classes with serious ranged condi… ele staff and war longbow. Everything else condi is midrange or melee.
mid-range condi:
thief & ranger SB
ele, mesmer, and necro scepter
engi pistols
revenant axe
ele focus
war sword off
revenant mace (#2/#3)melee condi:
thief d/d
revenant mace (#1)
guard torch (the aoe)
ranger torch (the aoe specifically)
ele & ranger dagger
war sword offI certainly might have missed some weapons where at least half their skills do decent condi damage but… not really anything much doing long range. So I would not expect condi to become long ranged for anyone any time soon.
900 range attacks would be fine by me.
Didn’t see this post (dont know how I missed it), so guess I’ll post my thoughts on Cond Rev here. If this offends the original poster, let me know and I’ll delete my reply.
I’d love to play a condition build for PVE but after a few attempts at various fractals and world events, I had to give it up. It’s mainly because we have no real condition damage when we aren’t in melee. There are countless encounters where players have to fight ranged for most if not the entire duration, and we do significantly less damage.
I would love to get another ranged weapon that is for condition damage, but I would settle for some traits under the corruption specialization and some tweaks to utilities. What we currently have does little to nothing for us at range.
Traits
Rampant Vex – Critical hits have a chance to cause torment. (5.25 seconds of torment, 33% chance on critical).
This still is just awful. You get about 2-3 procs per min auto attacking with the hammer with Viper’s/Sinister. Let alone its torment, which is the WORST condition damage in PVE.
Venom Enhancement – When you apply torment, also apply poison. Poison last 50% longer. (7.5 seconds of poison, 20 second ICD)
The poison ticks are for 100-150 dmg in Viper’s/sinister with no chance of stacking. Lack luster trait and mostly likely intended as a method of reducing a targets healing in pvp.
Frigid Precision – Chance to chill your foe when you land a critical hit. (Chance on critical 50%, Chill duration 2.5 secs, 10 sec ICD)
Please remove this skill and consider adding something that enhances hammer so it applies conditions. IE “Hammer Bolt now applies X condition”
Diabolic Inferno – Burn nearby foes when using an elite skill. (2 stacks of burning for 4 secs, 5 targets, 360 range, 10 sec ICD)
Like the skill, but should be changed to “Next attack cast Searing Fissure at target’s location”.
Legendary Demon Stance
Banish Enchantment – Deal damage, apply confusion, and remove boons from your foe. (600 range, 3 stacks of confusion for 6 secs, 2 boons removed, 5 targets)
Confusion is like torment, good in pvp, crap in pve. 600 range sucks.
Unyielding Anguish – Leap toward the targeted area, creating a demonic field that torments and chills foes. (Chill 1 sec, Torment 6.75 sec, 5 targets, 5 pulses, 4 sec duration, radius 240, Dark field, 600 range)
Like this skill, can’t safely use offensively at range though.
Embrace the Darkness (elite) – Summon the power of the legendary demon to transform into a powerful avatar. Increase all attributes and pulse torment to nearby foes. (10% to all stats, torment 8 secs, 5 targets, interval 1 sec, radius 240)
Great skill in melee, not so great at range. Would be nice if it was something like:
“Pulse poison and torment to nearby foes.” (4 secs of torment, 1 sec of poison)
This way you could auto attack with hammer and projectile finish poison for 2 secs.
Empowering Misery and Pain Absorption are good as is.
I might add more to this post later. Gotta run and wanted to get this up. Thanks for any feedback, thoughts, praise, kisses, etc..

Cloaked in shadow is simply not a grandmaster level trait. On top of that it hurts /d build forcing them to choose between it and Shadows Rejuvenation.
Couldn’t agree more. D/D and P/D was my favorite build in WvW/ PvP, but with the June trait changes, they fall far behind any other builds. Not having a decent tier 2 option for our Shadow Arts (SA) trait really hurts.
Also, most players know how to dodge roll/avoid Cloak and Dagger (Cnd), I’d really like to see a trait option (or part of weapon skill) to make it stealth you regardless of if it connects. It would be roughly the same stealth time of d/p thief using Black Powder (BP) + Heartseeker (HS) combo.
For a typical dagger/pistol set up you want to run Berserker. If you plan on doing any pve, you will usually end up in full berserker as well. Valk is an armor set up you typically use as a stepping stone to get used to fight mechanics (be it in pve or pvp).
I can hold down right click in other games to rotate camera angles or move my character to a location. Did this for 2 minutes straight.
Also, I would also use left click + right click some times to move. That is also not working. It’s as if the game periodically doesn’t recognize my right click.
Hello, prior to today I had no issues turning my camera angle while holding right click on my mouse. But when I logged in today, it no longer works. It will work for a second, then all of a sudden the cursor flies off to the side as if I had released right click.
Nothing has been updated on my computer and I’m not aware of any recent updates from Anet that would cause this. I tried searching the internet for a fix, but only thing I can find is “buy a new mouse”.
btw it works just fine in any other game/application
Help?
Hi
New/returning player looking for an active guild on Stormbluff. Multiple 80s, lots of pvp experience in various mmos.
Kabbal.2819 if you’d like to add me.
um… stuff?
Boy did you take a bad week to try to get back to WvW
Lag with large zerg fights is much better than long time ago, there are spikes sometimes but not as terrible. They lowered population per map because their servers could not handle the stress.
I’ll be focusing on PVE to start, trying to get familiar with things. My bags are loaded with tons of crafting gear and other things (which I can’t remember how to use haha).
As long as player rendering times in WvW isn’t 20-30 secs, I’ll be happy.
Go stormbluff!…?
Thanks for the responses, just logged in and overwhelmed. I had 4 80s when I stopped and favored the thief. Might start a mesmer and level up getting used to things again.
Hello,
I was thinking about returning to GW2 and had a couple questions I’m hoping some people will help me with. I stopped playing about a month after fractals were released (for multiple reasons I don’t feel like getting into atm).
1) Does WvW still have really bad loading time when there is a zerg group in the area?
2) Do fractals still give an advantage in WvW (better stats). If so, is getting geared up in fractals a grindfest?
Other then that, any advice on major changes, or things I should be doing after my long hiatus would be appreciated.
Thanks
I would love to hear Anet’s stand point on Condition damage. The current limitations on condition damage, as presented by the original poster, is why I have avoided playing certain classes/specs.
After 40 minutes of standing around in the overflow for LA, the NPC just randomly appeared to send people to LA.
Very disappointed with this weekend’s event(s).
Yertle care to elaborate on why you feel a 60 second utility that lets up to 5 people go invisible for 10 seconds if they remain in a 300 radius area (roughly) for 4 seconds is “Game Breaking”?
(edited by Kabbal.2819)
they cant. the carts are on the top top of the globe – over 2k (the term we messure distance in).
its literally impossible to reach them unless you get UP on top of the arena, which wont happen because constant fire from an unreachable arrowcart or 2 will kill you before your mobility spells are off CD enough of times to even get you halfway up the puzzle.
I have been pulled off the top of the dome by mesmers on plenty of occasions. I do not believe that temporal curtain has any range restrictions in relation to height.
We had 5 arrow carts, 3 ballistas, 1 catapault and 2 trebs. It was good fun fighting our way up there and securing a footing. We had anywhere from 5-15 people while fighting our way up there and setting up siege.
Too bad we lost it all to BS mesmer mechanics. Jq had mesmers in the pit yanking groups of people down who were no where near any ledges or in line of site. We also lost most of the siege to illusions that are casting through walls. I may put the screen shots up later of where we were standing and still getting yanked into the pit. I wish my scorpion wire could pull that BS =p
The 2 most annoying bugs (imo) is still not being addressed:
1) Auto attacking on steal and causing Hidden Thief to be horrible trait. This was not an issue in the first month of the game. Please fix this crap.
2) Stealing, having it go on cooldown, and not stealing anything. This happens from time to time on people running, standing still, and/or not evading/dodging/blocking.
(edited by Kabbal.2819)
Before the most recent patch you could stealth and finish a player without them interrupting you. However now when I drop a shadow refuge, players are able to hit me with any of their abilities while downed. I hope this is not an intended change.
Improvisation(VII) from Deadly Arts path.
“Stealing recharges all skills of one type (venoms, signets, traps, tricks, or deceptions)”it is bugged.
i made a build with just Deception skills (Blinding Powder, Smoke Screen, Shadow Refuge)
and tried it on the golems.
i tried it with various combinations, just one skill on cooldown, two, all three… etc..it appears that some times it works and some times it doesnt.
either fix it to be reliable, or remove it completely.
no PvPer wants to rely on a russian roulette skill.
This is not a bug, it Improvisation will reset one of your utility types regardless of what utilities you have equipped.
Can you post your level and where you are leveling? I’ll see about putting up a build or maybe a quick video.
Hi,
I’m not sure if this is a bug or an anti-farm/bot mechanic, but while grinding events in Shattered Coast after about an hour I stopped getting item drops. I’ve also experienced this while trying to farm materials for making my armor set. Other players/guildies I have asked about this topic are not experiencing any problems and have been farming these events for 5-10 hours a day.
If it is a bug, could you please add it to the bug list so other players experiencing this problem will know and try to plan around it?
If it is a mechanic, could you please explain why I’m experiencing it and others are not?
Thanks.
