I played DE a lot during the demo, and it would be really interesting to see a 40vs40 DE vs. Scourge. You’d have to get stability somehow b/c the DE utility Binding Shadow knocks down their marked target. I’d assume all 40 deadeyes would mark all 40 scourges, so if you don’t move out of range or LoS you’ll be constantly marked giving the DE all the benefits they get from marked targets (take less dmg from them, knocking down instead of immobilizing, etc.). Plus, it would be an interesting back and forth b/c it seems many, many DE skills do the exact same thing as scourges – turn boons into conditions and vice versa (see Cursed Bullet and Skirmisher’s Shot).
Soo…that’d be one great fight :P DE @ 1500 range with 40 marked scourges — I’m pretty sure keeping 8k dps on each marked target would be quite easy, with bursts of about 28k every 15-20 secs with Deaths Judgement and constant might with 3 round burst, which can easily top 8k. At least, that’s if I’m remembering how my Deadeye in even mediocre and non-optimized gear played in WvW.
Hi all,
Not sure if it has ever been suggested, but I was wondering if it would be feasible to merge Hero Points accumulated across all characters into one pool that could be used by any of them for the new Elite specs? This way, people could earn HP on any character (open world HP, not the cross character ones already available using WvW currency) and then use them on whatever class they like? Just figured it would make it so people didn’t have to farm these on each individual class even if they have like 200+ on a class they don’t want an elite for and are just going to waste. Thoughts?
5 of my 6 level 80s were leveled exclusively in WvW and I also love the dynamic play that PvP affords, but the question of open world dueling also involves the idea of “Who would you challenge to a duel?” Usually, people like to win and won’t challenge anyone they don’t think they can beat. Also, why would you even want to duel some random person you don’t even know? Your friends and guild mates can help you practice against certain builds or classes // why the desire to involve complete strangers?
I understand the desire to duel and the annoying way people need to go about doing it currently, but I also don’t understand the desire to duel random strangers. Why? The only thing I can think of is to either prop up your own ego because you challenge someone you believe is easily beaten, or to try to get ‘revenge’ if someone wrongs you somehow in the game (even though kill stealing doesn’t exist here and almost everything is shared contribution). So, why?
As many others have said, they shouldn’t do anything concerning travel in PoF that gives a discernibly better advantage to those who own HoT over those who just purchase PoF. Imagine if they made updraft and/or shrooms that allowed for faster and easier access to hero point locations (maybe not explicitly but players would figure out a way to make a path easier using those methods). PoF only players would feel cheated and lied to about how you don’t need HoT to enjoy PoF because everyone would be on reddit about how much easier PoF is to navigate if you have HoT masteries.
Splitting these two expansions up and making each one not rely upon masteries from past expansions is the way to go. I know people may say ‘adding shrooms or updrafts to the game doesn’t make it rely on HoT – just lets us use our earned masteries’ but also think of not only the cost to add these things to already finished maps but also the user perception should anything like this be added.
This was my main reason for asking — 3 of my 4 80s were leveled in WvW only, and since I like both the Reaper and Chronomancer, I’ve been running around the world maps doing Hero Challenges trying to get some since I spent my 398 (gotten through leveling alone) to max my skills/traits. It is a long and kind of annoying thing for me to have to do since I prefer to WvW only, and the Hero points are so spread out on the maps it is pretty much running all over the whole map zone for 6-9 or so points.
@ Fox — I think you get a skill point each ‘level’ you get after 80 — also, I believe we would need to go out into the world and do the ‘Hero Challenges’ (old skill point challenges) in each zone to get the needed Hero Points.
Hmm – aren’t there only 4 new shout utilities, 1 new heal, and 1 new elite — then add in 12 traits @5 points each (using Reaper as an example). I thought all traits and skills were 5 points each except elites which are 15? Looking at the en.gw2skills.net site the only ones I’d be missing are those 4 new shouts and new heal and elite (plus 12 traits) – maybe I’m missing something or they increased the cost per trait/skill?
Just wondering how many Hero Points will be needed to unlock the elite specialization traits and skills? From what I’ve read, there will be 12 traits @ 5 pts each (60) and then 5 skills @ 5 pts. each (25) , and 1 elite @ 15 pts. Would this mean, for example, to get the full Reaper trait set and utilities with the elite (not counting the new skins/armor) I’d need to have at least 100 hero points ready for the expansion launch?
I never saw anything concrete in regards to how many would be required to have the full array of new skills/traits opened for the new specializations, so if anyone has any official information it would be greatly appreciated!
Hi all,
Just recently got to 80 on my mesmer – prior to this I used mostly my guardian or elementalist almost exclusively in zerg support (staff elementalist or frontline guardian). I’m pretty new to roaming (did it a little on my d/d thief), and prefer to run in groups. Our guild is beginning a small WvW group, so my question is which build would be best when paired with a small group (4-8 people with a mix of necros, thieves, guardians).
My two geared builds are either the common PU build with dire armor and perplexity runes going scepter/torch & staff. My other gear is mixed assassin/berzerker armor using hoelbrak runes with zerker accessories using sword/pistol & staff. Both gear sets have energy sigils slotted to the necessary swapped weapons and a mix of doom (condi) and battle (shatter).
Thanks for any input and I’m looking forward to trying out a new style of play (I transferred from TC to Ferguson’s crossing and the style of play there is far different than I am used to).

You either fight with honor ….or you don’t. There is no in-between….you can troll post after post until they get locked or removed but the fact of the matter remains….You either have Honor….Or you don’t
Which is it?
“If you find yourself in a fair fight, you didn’t plan your mission properly..” ^^ quote by David Hackworth. Although it is a game, people are playing at war. Honor is good and all, but if you think about it, where is the honor modern war? IED vs. drone strikes – both lack ‘honor’, but both get the job done – i.e. demoralize and defeat your enemy by any means necessary. Just a thought.
Posted in general forums, but it seems Commander Compendiums now cost 250 badges of honor in addition to 100g. Not sure if this is new or not ^^
Hihi,
A noob question, I’m sure, but when I left the game Commander’s Compendiums only cost 100g, which I thought was kind of ridiculous since people with no WvW experience could get one. However, when I checked today I see they are 100g + 250 badges of honor (which, admittedly, isn’t that many badges). When was this changed, and changed for at least a little on the better side – or is it a temporary bug?
I feel like most of the worry about PvP occurring in the new EotM would be alleviated if people just did a little research into their class and changed some traits out to become a ‘WvW’ build (not sPvP) before going in. When I first started WvW as an elementalist, I had to switch to a totally new build in order to survive vs. thieves. Now, I run guardian, ele, and am leveling a necro and thief in WvW.
Say you are in EotM and see/are attacked by a thief – ele (who if alone should probably be in a d/d build) can aura up to help avoid attacks then lightning away, warriors can ‘fear me’ and just kill the thief, guardians have aegis, necros can death shroud #3 fear, and condition stack or just stand in their own wells. See said thief use shadow refuge – AoE that refuge and don’t just stand there while they are in stealth healing conditions, healing themselves, and finding your back… There are so many ways to avoid being ‘ganked’.
I think if players new to WvW (PvE exclusive players up until this time) just did a little research into their classes, they would have a lot less to fear and less worry

@Minoru – I have all PVT after buying the karma set and using 6/6 dolyak runes. I also have the PVT backpack but even when I use all ruby jewelry instead of my clerics, I still find my damage less than if I go 30 into fire and at least 20 air. Is the damage you are seeing in your build still using the 0/10/0/30/30 trait setup? Currently with my setup I have around 20,533 HP and over 1600 toughness. ^^ PM if you wish with the details of your build // I’m interested in how it could work
To the poster a few above, Auburn Skies is regularly always on in TCBL calling movement and positioning and is a very valuable asset to the entire server. I never post on these forums, but felt compelled to given both your inflammatory statement that makes our server look like crybabies, and makes PINK look bad. We’re better than that, I would say – and I think many would agree as can be seen by our behavior during our FA, CD, and YB match ups.

To the person who said to delete all chars and leave guilds, I think many others on here have said more succinctly what I meant in my OP. I am actually an extrovert according to the Myers-Briggs test, but it is sometimes extroverts who need to have ‘alone time’ the most. My own list of followers is pretty big, and I honestly only remember one of them, and this only because they told me they added me. As someone above stated, having what are essentially complete strangers being able to ‘follow’ me and know my location even if I am ‘invisible’ seems a little bit like invasion of privacy. And before people say ‘It is an MMO — there should be no expectation of privacy’ — by that same theory, people shouldn’t mind if every single /tell they send is open to public scrutiny. Thanks all for the great discussion this post at least has brought about. Hopefully a dev or so can at least see it as a suggestion.
Thanks for the replies all — I wish there was a way I could move this to the suggestions section without having to make a duplicate post. It is good to see I’m not the only one wishing for a little more privacy

In both RIFT and SWTOR, you could login ‘anonymously’ by merely creating an alt that no one knew about. This is not possible with the way GW2 is set up. And why should there be no way for someone to enjoy the game in solitude? What about when you just want a break from friends or guilds in order to enjoy the world without interruptions?
I have found after playing since early access that no matter how you may attempt to be anonymous or invisible in the game, there is no possible way to. As soon as you login, anyone on your friendlist is notified that you have, even before you login to a character. In addition, even if you move to Invisible status, your location in the world will keep changing even though you are shown as offline. This could potentially lead to hurt feelings if friends or a guild see you login, then go to invisible status but your location keeps changing.
In every MMO I have played (FFXI, RIFT, SWTOR, TERA), there have been ways to login and be completely anonymous should you wish to merely adventure alone without any /tells or guild involvement. It seems in GW2, everyone can know every single alt you make if you accidentally login on it while representing a guild or even if they check their friendlist while you are creating a new alt. In my opinion, there is too much transparency in GW2 and I wish there were a way to be truly ‘invisible’ in the game. Does anyone else feel the lack of the ability to become anonymous? Also, before people say that this is an MMO and if I wanted to play a single player game I shouldn’t be playing one, that is not my complaint at all. All I am wishing for is a way to enjoy an MMO and get some ‘alone’ time while doing so.
Hi,
I just submitted a ticket # 120905-010950 // I have tried paypal and two different credit cards that I know are clear to use, and all three failed. I’m trying to buy gems and have successfully bought about $50 before. Please fix my account if there is a restriction on it, or fix the gem store
