Why are TPvP matches allowed to start 4v5?

I feel it gets much worse lately… I only play 3 games a day for dailies… but last week at least 1 of those 3 was 4 vs 5. ’And it would be so simple to just cancel the match and wait for another one… Instead you are forced to play already lost match.

In hotjoin you at least have chance someone might join… in solo arena, you’re already doomed. They may as well add “forfeit” button so that team doesn’t have to spend 15 minutes loosing…

I asked for a simple system. It would work like this:
Let 25 people in on each server side.
Then make rest people queue till 5 people from each server wants to join in. Let those 15 (5 people from each server) in and wait for another 15, then for another 15 until the cap.

Have you considered scenario where strong server meets weak server? You will end up in situation where there are 25 people from strong server and 20 people from weak server. No one wanting to join from weak server and 200 people in queue on strong server side. How would you solve this kind of scenario?

Hi there,

this bug was plaguing me from pretty much the start of game, but I never got to report it properly. This bug appears when I successfully finish world boss event, but I don’t get chest (big one on the ground and small one with rare in it). What I observed is, even if you get “Event succeeded”, bonus (exp/karma/gold) is wrong. Please see attached pictures. Quite often, after first bug (I get about 60% of reward), second bug appears which gives mi about 10% rewards (see Bad1 vs. Bad2 pictures). This can happen in same day, or on different days.

I tried pretty much everything… Attack minions, attack boss only, fight all I can, slack, ress people, do not ress people… nothing seems to prevent this bug that happens from time to time. This may be coincidence, but it seems when I got melee on boss, bug is less likely to appear.

I hope this will help you track it down

Yep, hapened to me as well. It seems as part of “reached checkpoint jump” I was flung into the ground or so. Also if this happens to you, you can try to dig bunny. It should attack and kill you (and you won’t be raging, you have to restart all over)

Josh Foreman already stated that the issue with doing this is a technical one. It was discussed somewhat in the long thread in this subforum (which I know would be a nightmare to look through, but it’s in there).

It seems to me that their engine is pretty limited in what it can do outside the regular game workflow. Not being able to implement bauble counter, save checkpoints, increase the height of that stone in w1z1 (the one before the bee-dog)…

I agree it’s not possible in this state of engine. I’ve never thought it would be possible to implement in this instance of SAB, but maybe it can be something they can look to implement in next SAB iteration? We can always come up with suggestion and hope

I think the best way to deal with level length would be to let you quit level at any point (well I think at any checkpoint would be good enough). You would quit, but your progress would be saved in a single save spot. Next time you come to box, you can either contiue from your save spot, or start a new adventure (with save spot being removed). This way levels could be lengthy, but you wouldn’t have to do them in one session, which would help tremendously I believe.

With a small adjustement you could also prevent people being screwed due to disconnects as game could autosave you once you get through a gate and you would simply continue from there if you resume after re-login.

I agree, I think Moto needs a bit more time to tweak stuff around and fix some remaining bugs, so that he can push Super Adventure Box into next release stage

It makes me really said… looking at this table.

To be constructive… I’d personaly do not put money od dungeon path by their difficulty but by their popularity. Let’s say you take a pool of money and each week/month you put this pool on dungeon paths to promote less done paths and to demote paths that are run regularly.

The main reason for this is , I’d like to people run varied dungeons, to have different experience and possibly more fun (I used to run UBRS #19336236 back in the days… running same dungeon again and again is baaaaad).

Bottom line, I would use this system not to reward hard dungeons, but to make people run all the different dungeons and paths.

I’d personally would be happy if there were some cinematic videos made describing what has happened in the world, when some bigger chunk of living story is finished. I think playing events back is sort of pointless, because you already see, what has happened.

What I mean, I’d do something very similar to what WoodenPotatoes did in his youtube channel, but maybe in a bit more fashion manner. For example something like introduction cinematic videos after character creation, that would describe event etc.

I think a part of the problem why some people don’t appreciate new events in the old zones is that it’s not easily obvious that those are there and there are little incentives to explore zones again once you have the world completion. A lot of times when you go through zones no events are up near you or just the ones you already know.

If I remember correctly one of the events you are talking about is the event about the guild Modus Sceleris. I tried this event once, weren’t successfull and that’s it. It was awesome but I didn’t came by this area again.

At this time it felt also normal that the world was being expanded with events since it was exactly what Colin told us would happen. (I’m a bit sad that this stopped actually).

A suggestion how I would introduce new ways of going back to lower zones would be frequent field trips with a certain NPC which start in a fixed spot and lead to interesting places all around the world. You could then add this trip to the daily achievement rotation.

example: you go to the center of Divinity’s Reach where a NPC (orange dynamic event marker on the map) calls out: “the next field trip starts in 4 minutes”. He would then open a small portal to the borders of a random zone where you follow him to the start of one of gw2s longer event chains. People now can experience a chain from start to finish. While you stay in the orange field trip event marker during this long chain, you’ll get +300 magic find also, so that people have incentives to stay till the end of the chain + a guaranteed reward.

Some of these events also might be meta event chains which are forgotten by the community. These field trips start every 5 minutes in a known spot in the races home cities.

Funny thing is, a certain player on my server started to do exactly what you propose He simply stands in LA shouting “today at 8 pm we are doing tour through Iron Marches, we will take a look at fabulous Great Wall, battle ghosts of Ascalon and at the end we will take down one of the strongest Kralkatoriks minions”. Or something along those lines. I never actually attended, but this sounds cool. (Also hint hint you don’t have to rely on ANet to do stuff for you, you can create “your own story”)

Yeah, this is the biggest problem I have with the Guild Wars lore, it doesn’t cover the “moral shades of grey” extensively as well as many other video games and it’s all good vs. evil “black and white” morality. Heck, even League of Legends and World of Warcraft covers “grey morality” way better than this game.

You see I don’t agree entirely. Charr were made ultimate evil wanting to destroy humans, yet now they are “friends”. Abbadon was made “an evil” god, yet he brought magic to people (sorta Prometheus style). Dragons are destruction, death etc. etc., yet in some cases they are compared to forces of nature. “Is a storm evil because it destroys stuff and kills people?”.

I think writers want everything to be seen as crystal clear, yet it often has another layer of truth, that is not so crystal clear anymore. Note this is my very limited guild wars lore talking here

I personaly think, Queen Jennah is yet to show her true strength. She seem very capable politician if nothing else. If you wanna see what politicians are capable of, go watch Game of Thrones

I think Queen Jennah will announce holy war against centaur. After that we will be sent into a campain against this foul beasts and as the result of this, centaurs will be completely removed from Queensdale and Kessex hills. In first stage all dynamic events will change from “being attacked by centaurs” to “drinking ours kitten off because no centaurs”. In next stage all crops will rot because farmers are all drunk and Queen Jennah will send us to “suppress” the rebelion. Most events will change into “steal alcohol from farmers”. In aftermath, farmers will go to Harathi Highlands and bring centaurs back so that they can enjoy their drinks and Queen Jennah let them alone. In all events farmers will be using plush pitchforks and centaurs wooden swords and once in a while there will be meta event where centaurs and farmers will smash themselves up with alcohol together and we have unique chance to play Belcher’s bluff with centaur leaders. This event will be always broken up by Shadow behemoth that is jelaous of the fun stuff happening in open world. True story I tell you!

Yep exactly. I read all patch notes quite carefully and I missed it as well. There are things, that you can do this way… but removing a special vendor and only putting a line in patch notes, to update month ago? I hope someone actually reads this and this message carry over so that it doesn’t happen again.

I’d like to add my vote as well.
I agree the best practice would be, to remove mystic forge possibility of creating commendations and leave Lyns for a longer while. It would strike you right away “oh I can’t make more commendations… They are probably going to remove Lyns soon.”

They did the same with wintersday vendor… why not with Lyns? I suppose she was long overdue due to disabling her during wintersday.

Another option would be to actually change Lyns lines into sort of: “Thank you all for your donations, LA is rebuilt now, thanks to your generosity.”

Please don’t do this again.

Also, dev or mod note that “you can throw those commendations away” would be very nice.

I’m pretty sure this occurence was a bug. I’m aware of at least one occassion where we were fighting claw of Jormag, I came just in last moments of his life, I ressed random player, Claw died, I got credit.
Still I agree supporting your team should be taken into account. I’m sure it’s not such a big problem to count amount healed in area or possibly number (total length) of buffs given.

Fail condition of escort quest

Heya,
can we have a little bit clearer fail condition of escort quest? Some escort quest do not fail at all, you just ressurect whoever you escort and continue… On the other hand sometimes when whoever you escort dies, event fails. It would be great to know which one is your current event, so you know how much you should risk when protecting the escorted. Thanks.
