Yes, your example demonstrates what I’m having a problem with. We are seeing the same thing. I’m willing to admit it’s kinda subjective in nature. However, when I’m used to seeing something like this everywhere else in the game I thought it had to be a bug of some sort. My error apparently.
I find Draconis Mons unlikable to the point I’ll not be spending time there. Here’s hoping we can see a return to more the more pleasing visuals in the future.
I just got a new GTX1060 a couple of days ago and the first time I played Draconis Mons was on this card, so per a conversation I had with a couple of folks on map chat, I came to this thread because I honestly expected that my experience with Draconis Mons was a bug, and that the maddeningly intense oversaturation, smudgy low-quality terrain textures, and weirdly bright spotlighting in certain places was a bug. Other people in map chat (one who also uses a 1060) expressed the same thing.
So, I guess I’m just a little surprised by the notion that all of this may not be a bug. Is it just… a different art direction? Not enough time to polish the map? As MFoy said, it’s subjective, but to me it looks like a child’s drawing done in crayon compared to some of the other stuff we’ve seen so far. Part of the reason that I continue to play GW2 is because I have enjoyed how the game looks, particularly with Heart of Thorns, but I don’t want to spend any more time in Draconis Mons than I have to. I do hope that this is not the bar that’s being set for future content.
Absolutely definitely need the Aetherblade heavy set (it’s one of the very few decent-looking non-skirt[!] female heavy leg armours in the game), and the Strider’s medium set (similarly, one of the very few non-trenchcoat[!] medium chest pieces in the game). Not to mention the Inventor’s Sunglasses if you please.
In general though, just allowing us to purchase anything whenever we want to seems like it would make a lot more sense. Restricting this just frustrates players and loses you guys money. For your sake and ours, please, release the hounds!
Personally I like the desert borderland more than the alpine borderland, and I play WvW quite a bit. It’s a far more varied experience. Alpine is flat and stale to me.
Desert does have issues with travel, but overall I find the map way more fun to play. I hope they address some of the speed issues, and also that they create more new maps for WvW. Things will improve as the designers get more experience and feedback.
Keep it up Tirzah, and all of the rest of the WvW design team. =)
ArenaNet, THANK YOU! Massive improvement over the prior situation, hugely appreciated, thank you, thank you, thank you! =]
Wanted to check back in on this… still extremely frustrating. Haven’t found a good solution and showing bags takes up too much space in the inventory UI, not to mention the unused space you see when you scroll to the bottom which subsequently makes navigating bags a chore. I love you ArenaNet, but can you please help us out here?
Super nice of them to give us this cool, free thing! But yeah, I spent time working out my inventory in a way that’s comfortable and useful to me, and this new slot at the top of my bags has jacked up my whole system. It’s very frustrating to me. =\
If there’s any way it could either be separated, or hidden, or shifted dynamically by the player, or simply moved to the bottom, I’d appreciate it hugely. Thank you, ArenaNet!
Wanna throw my hat in on this as well. Extremely frustrating. Thank you for posting!
I absolutely despise the floating gyro model. It completely mucks with my character design, and given that I spent a lot of time getting the look right, that’s pretty important to me. Fortunately, my hatred for the thing does give me a convenient reason to avoid the scrapper altogether. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE take it away and give us back the attractive and perfectly functional icon. I promise that I will send you real dollar bills if you at least make it optional somehow. Please.
…and it most certainly needs an indicator, i honestly hate how i can’t tell if the kitten thing is off cooldown or not
I’m with you. I wish so hard that they’d get rid of the ugly orange pixel and turn it back into a status effect icon (like it was in the beta) which I can actually see and which doesn’t screw with the aesthetics of my character (which are genuinely important to me).

7) It’s not classed as a boon, so… no. If it was a boon it can be stripped and that’s bad. You’re knocking on the wrong door here, I think maybe.
Neither is stealth, and stealth stacks. Why can’t/shouldn’t super speed?
- The tiny mini gyro floating near my head isn’t a clear indicator of the gyro’s readiness state, I basically can’t see it at all during hectic action. The boon-area icon from the beta was much more clear.
I totally agree with this. In addition, I wish the tiny model would go away for aesthetic reasons. I’m super into the whole engineer concept, but I personally hate that the bright orange dot is constantly floating around my character’s head. It clashes with her design and just makes her look like a goofball. Please return it to the effect icon or make it optional somehow. May seem petty but I really care about how my character looks and this is practically a deal breaker for me. =\
Truly! Trench coats do not form-fit in my (albeit limited) experience. It’s like the Rubicon was trying real hard but then just couldn’t let the hourglass go….
This may sound petty and weird in light of the challenges of building a fun and dynamic game world, but here’s my plea to you artists and developers out there… my one heartfelt wish for the new expansion: can you please, please create some practical armours for norn and human female characters in light and medium weights? I play a human female elementalist and engineer. Nearly every armour set for females has either a coattail or a skirt or is impractically ornate and what I would truly love to have are some options that look genuinely usable as armour, or at least something that wouldn’t trip me up in a fight. Something like pants and a breastplate, or a shirt and breeches. I’ve cobbled together a couple of sets that work for me but there really are so few options.
Again, I understand that you guys have what must seem like an impossible number of things going on right now (I work in a development environment and deadlines are rough), but back before GW2 had its first beta weekend, one of the things which I loved about this game were the clothes that the regular human citizens were wearing. I thought that my characters would get to wear those clothes. Some of the armour sets you’ve created look great, no doubt, but the the many coattails and skirts, and the hyper-sexy/opulent/impractical designs don’t really do it for me. I would love nothing more than to look like a serious, capable fighter when playing a light- or medium-armour class.
Please let me know what you think. Thank you so much for giving us this awesome game. Can’t wait to explore the new world!
Thanks, Tobias. Generally I do okay and my guild is pretty good to me, but your offer and overall lack of bad attitude is hugely appreciated. =) Hope you’re doing well after whatever January dealt you. Have a good one.
Okay, guys. =) I formally apologise to the community at large for mentioning it. Have a nice day, one and all.
Whoa, Prox, you don’t need to build a war machine on this, chill out. =)
I’m not even mad about the money, it was only one other point. I’m just saying it seems harsh to set a time limit even earlier than the end of the already short month. And yes, that is ArenaNet’s fault… in my opinion it was thoughtless, again because of the short month. Of course it’s not their fault I couldn’t log in, but that’s not what I’m saying. I’m also not crying a river. It’s (a little more than) mildly annoying and I wanted to see if anyone else was in the same situation.
It’s not stupid… I’ve had a lot of (unfortunately unavoidable) personal reasons that I haven’t been able to play this month. Yes, obviously it’s on my head but that doesn’t change the fact that it seems a little draconian given the already short month, no?
I spent three gold on salvage stuff before reading the rest of it because friends/guildmates had previously mentioned that particular part of the monthly at work and I was gearing up for it. I honestly didn’t expect I’d have had to start five days prior to the end of February to be able to finish. Like I said, I’m surprised… it seems sort of thoughtless on the part of the dev team in my opinion, that’s all.

Today is basically the first time I’ve had a chance to play this month. I was going to power through and spend all week on getting my monthly, but now that I see the Monthly Completionist track, I’m starting to think it’s not possible. If it’s correct that I’d have to complete five full dailies before I could take this monthly, then there simply are not enough days in the month to do it.
February is already a short month. This seems a little unfair. I spent three gold on stuff to salvage in the trading post before I realised this. Anyone else in a similar situation? Can anyone confirm if I’m mistaken or that this has been addressed elsewhere (I’ve searched here and several other places but couldn’t find any mention)? Please tell me I’m wrong! =(
I do not want this change to appear in the game in this form. Please don’t implement ascended gear. If you must implement agony and/or the infusion stones, do so in a cheap and easily-distributable fashion so that they contribute to customisation above and beyond that allowed by sigils/runes and give every single piece of gear an infusion slot, not just legendaries or exotics.
Also, please, never increase the stat levels on any pieces of gear regardless of tier. The gear stat levels need to remain stable throughout the life of the game. Good game design does not hinge upon gear progression. Improve the game itself. Make the dungeons you have and the ones you plan to implement require intelligent and fluid tactics, not maxed-out gear. This game is already so good, but there is so much that could be improved in the fundamentals that you don’t need to tack on this chaff to keep people playing and having fun. You do not need this.
There is a very strong possibility that I will stop playing your game because of this. I’m a guild leader and I’m not sure what my friends/members might do, but it could potentially dissolve our guild and I don’t want that because I’ve had such a great time playing with them all up till now.
Please, please don’t do this.
