I’m a little like Shortcake. Our guild came from warhammer online and were part of a much larger, successful alliance there. During beta just 2 of us played and we randomly chose Yak’s Bend, a drop of the hat. we had no information on what guilds or alliances were good we were just testing the waters of this much anticipated game.
On release we decided to change to SBI and the reason? one of the simplest ever, we had a couple of friends that were going there. So with, by then, a handful of people from beta we toddled off to SBI, then the rest of our guild came over from Warhammer and some are still trickling over.
None of us fight for the overall score, yes its nice to watch and be proud but ultimately we know we didnt have contribution for every single point on that board so how can we claim any of them as ‘our’ success?
We fight as friends and long term guild mates for the fun and entertainment regardless of what the overall points show. If we decide we have had enough of W3 for a day or two, we’ll group up and do some dungi’s or help each other craft and complete maps. YES W3 is our main passion and we enjoy being orgonised and working with other organised people/ guilds but as shortcake says “we just shoot stuff” and have a kitten fine time doing so
I understand the mechanics of alliances and how they help to build a great server and they are a hell of a lot of fun but at the end of the day all this politics and anger in a computer game is, well, it goes against the premise. Its supposed to be fun.
Ill agree HoD are a well organised server mainly because of TA, glory hunters will follow and boast of the deeds of others, riding on the backs of giants but what does it matter? If (theoretically speaking ) ANet pulled the plug on GW2 tomorrow, what’s it all for? Id rather remember having a lot of fun in a game with friends, new and old rather than remembering all the politics and forum bashing.
Call me a ‘casual’ and laugh if you want. Even tho I do tend to play one hell of a lot of hours but id rather be a ‘casual’ than an arrogant, egotistical elitest (not calling anyone in particular a elitiest you understand).
So TA got together and formed a well organised alliance, their leader has raised some good points. Others from TA will try to flame and boast as I have seen but that’s all it is, he’s doing what he feels is best for his alliance and overall fun for his players. Its what they do.
On the flip side I see other people’s frustrations and points. This argument will go on and on and nameless people sitting behind the safety of a computer monitor will happily shout and rage at each other till the end of time but who are they to say how others should enjoy their experience?
I’m trying to sit on the fence here as i have read the whole thread and see many of both sides and as someone on SBI who is often beating against HoD’s walls only to be eating dirt for my efforts, this will always be the nature of PvP… your fun will be at the expense of someone’s anguish.
My previous post about coming to join the brewery was a little jestfull but there may be some reasoning behind it. Theoretically speaking of course. TA can only BE the best when they have Beaten the best. Seeing as they are the best who have they to fight but themselves? Think about that a second.
Some of TA transfer off of HoD onto a server that faces HoD..TA vs TA….
this is NOT a challenge or a request. After reading this thread, I understand the logistics of such an undertaking not to mention the pop issues, trying to get all people onto the ‘new’ server and with accusations of spying etc… all those aside, that is the only way TA or other alliances / guilds from HoD will find the challenge. I dont think it a bad idea.. but the logistics dont tend to lend them selves to it, unfortunately.
Also, i dont think HoD or TA have anything to proove. All this talk about “proove your the best” I dont think they, as a whole, have to. Everyone else seems to think they some how do.
Im not sucking up to HoD or to TA, i have often said I dont believe them as good as people claim they are, relying on non prime timers to cap while the prime timers are mere caretakers but i WILL support their right to play when, how and where they wish just as I would for anyone.

""Where are the people supposed to come from then?"
Merge Guilds that are WvW-centric to reach critical mass of organisation and efficiency like what commonly happened when guilds became too small to tackle end-game content in every game since 1990?
Encourage those that have left to come back? Look at a PR campaign?
“Should we go to other servers and try to steal their guilds? That just ruins other servers that are already having their own problems.”
Come steal Guilds off HoD? We have too many, and with the right proposal, maybe they will be up for the challenge?""

@ sniffy – i agree, ppl will always follow in the trails of success and claim it as their own.
Then the whole cycle starts again. Point being made is, when transfers are no longer free it may not be such an influx of glory hunters. However, they may not care that it costs money to transfer, as long as they can boast the deeds of others and in that case, yes, rinse and repeat.
Thing is, its human nature to want to win, until people stop using the server scores as a judge of their own indervidual success and start to merely enjoy the game for the period of time that they are able to be online, this will always be the case.
www.thebrewery.weebly.com
Thanks Marstar, answered my post perfectly and as an alliance leader, these indeed seem like the questions you need to ask. This is of course a hypothetical thread but you cleared up my ‘concerns’ (for want of a better description).
With the introduction of non-free transfers, i think ANet will go some way to stop the freeloaders but yes, 2 problems there; there will always be those who still freeload ftw and trying to move an entire alliance (before or after free transfers end) is a mammoth task.
You seem like a very level headed alliance leader and I can respect you for than and your well put together answer.
weighing up against finding the best possible opposition AND short que times is a tough one for sure and although the gauntlet was thrown down by the OP, as an alliance leader, there are many more things to consider.
www.thebrewery.weebly.com
@barab – coming from someone who’s server was crying about a HoD / SBI ‘alliance’ last time, really.. empty boasts.
@ sachiel – approve
there is nothing anyone can do about the score while one is sleeping / working so, agree, have fun while your on and dont take scores too seriously.. boasters will boast about the deeds of others
@ njord – that what makes GW2 WvW so great, there is always something to do, no matter what the ‘scores’ show.
The last two people show what the spirit of the game is meant to be, as for the first.. draw your own conclusions :p
Glad to see some of JQ players acting to the contrary of the previous match up. It shows a change from T1 is as good as a rest.
www.thebrewery.weebly.com
hmm I dont know. I have a german friend who has a large german W3 guild and they left their high pop, long que server in favor of getting into W3 more often with more ppl.
I’d do the same too if our ques were massive (id move to my friend’s server if i spoke german lol)
I’d favor playing over watching scores and waiting.. that’s just me I suppose.
www.thebrewery.weebly.com
@ suds – 1. It was actually one of the most popular threads of that week. I’ll admit its long gone now, waaay down in the bowls of the forum LOL
2. Because you may not of seen that thread (mentioned above) kinda renders my point here about being an ‘empty post’ a little mute.
I wont dissmiss your opinion based upon the fact you didnt see the thread…. if that makes sense. If you were aware of it, seen it or commented in it, you may of posted differently.. so, i retract my previous comment.
3. ’nuff said
4. I ignore actual QQ’s about night capping in so far as complaints saying things like “it shouldnt be allowed” or “here are ways to stop night capping” because they are ludicrous. Everyone has a right to play, where ever, when ever they can. Although is now being mistakenly used to describe, how should i say this, ‘NOT NA prime time’. Where as it should be a population issue and these occur at any time of the day.
having 24/7 matches is always going to have in balances, then again, W3 isnt supposed to be fully balanced. Thats what sPvP is for. I believe pop balancing (to the extent of say 100v5v5 for example) IS a valid concern but, yeh ill agree, crying about it being the soul reason your server is being beat, is getting old.
anyway, back to the scores
www.thebrewery.weebly.com
The other reason Kaineng would not be a viable destination is because it would take 4-6 weeks to actually reach the Tier of Tears.
On the assumption we’ll rocket up the ranks then you are concluding we’ll have minimal resistance … hence a very boring 4-6 weeks.
Clearly this is not in the interest of TA members.
I wouldnt of thought getting into T1 is a priority is it? After all that would suggest your priority is purely winning (in scores not in battles). For that, you dont need all your guys in W3 so moving at all doesnt need to even be considered.
However If you enjoy W3 regardless and aim to get as many of your guys on the field as possible, all playing together and all having fun, then being in any tier shouldnt matter.
Although, having zero resistance, also wouldnt suit the bill, I image you’d like to have some PvP and not PvD.
SO i put it to you, it shouldnt matter what Tier any ‘potential or discussed’ move would put you in as long as more of your guys can enjoy playing with the alliance and be on the field against a decent force? yes?
(Just curious and in no way an accusation – wow i have to put this incase ppl think there is a troll in the room lol)
www.thebrewery.weebly.com
@foxxgen – very well put, it was basically what I was trying to say but didnt manage it as eliquantly as you did
www.thebrewery.weebly.com
@ Suds – I remember a thread saying the same thing last HoD, SBI, JQ match up… except it was SBI you guys were giving props to, knocking down JQ for their QQing about a ‘so called ’ SBI / HoD alliance and hoping to find a third server with SBI’s mentality.. Seem to remember SBI got the knickname “Steel Bluff Isle” because of that thread.
funny… how easy it is to give props/ run down those you like when your sat on the winning side of the fence… curious. You’ll excuse me if i find this post a little … empty.
That being said, i WILL agree that JQ has been putting up a great fight and hoping that their first week of QQing gets forgotten quickly and I’m hoping for a JQ/ SBI/ ET match up soon enough.
as for seeing crying about night capping, wasnt that issue resolved by Anet as a ‘myth’? There is no such thing as night capping, just a pop in balance at certain times. I see no Night capping crying..
www.thebrewery.weebly.com
So lets get Anet to back it, wait till they make server xfers cost money, then give verified members of TA a one time free xfer to kain only.
Just wait till the last day im still have money in the pool that they will transfer there right before the paid transfers are in place.
In actual fact, I’ll put money on this.
Actual PvP (or W3) guilds, like Titan have WvW as their core interest. trouble is, with que times on high populated servers a lot of their members have huge que times or dont even get into W3 at all.. Kinda ruins the game if your a W3 guild and most of your guys cant W3 right?
Im guessing here, but ill wager that these guys would rather get more of their guildies into W3 than constantly win matches. Its no fun just watching the score and not participating in it right?
So I’ll bet, just when the date is released for end of server transfers Titan (or similar guilds) will mass transfer to a server with lesser que times to get more of their guys on the field without badwagoners following them.
They know, if they transfer now, coat-tailers will follow and turn whatever server they go to, into another HoD, making que times longer and meaning, again, less of their guys get to be in W3. If they leave it to the last min and dont announce to where or when they go, they may find lesser ques and pop balance.
Thats my GUESS anyway.
afterall, what good is being in a W3 guild if most of your guys cant actually get into W3 right?
www.thebrewery.weebly.com
Ill admit, I have been accused of QQing this last week, even though the posts I made were not intended as such, more a personal observation of how I thought the game was being played by each server at the times and places that I had observed. Which, in now way, are a reflection of the entire picture.
It seems when anyone makes an observation that ISNT complementary, you are immediately accused of QQ. Some people are extremely defensive and this term ‘QQ’ is banded from them willy nilly. While SBI was thanking HoD for some great fights the first week long match ups, it was all fun and games but as soon as an observation is made upon their actual play, QQ is shouted.
Playing against a well organised, high place server like HoD is fun, dont get me wrong and they often bring their A game to really test their opponents. However, constantly facing an unbeatable force (unbeatable for whatever reason none of which will be or should be discussed here) can be, tiresome. We forget this is a game and should be fun and enjoyable. I’ll admit I often fall into the trap of taking it too seriously but remember, its a game and there are far more important things to worry about. For this very reason, people get frustrated and disspondant. That’s when so called QQing flies about.
Taking the overall score too seriously will get people wound up, seeing your server with a clear lead only to loose it overnight can be demoralizing but the people playing at night have every right to contribute, to play, to have their own fun and we often forget this, I feel. So rather than focusing on what our scores are too seriously we should perhaps (and I know I am going to try to do this ) focus on what we are doing right here, right now, enjoy ourselves while we’re playing and treat each day a fresh.
Having said that, there is no harm in keeping an interested eye on it, server pride is a good thing, makes us better as a team and a community but while playing, lets focus on what we’re doing right then and there.
After all this time of facing HoD and A.N. Other, personally, I’m getting exhausted, the outcome is almost certain, HoD will win, 2nd and third are the only places really up for grabs. So maybe dropping down into T2 wouldnt be such a bad idea. new opponents, new tactics and an uncertain outcome will be refreshing. I think this is why JQ are doing so well, they have come back to scene fresh faced and rested (perhaps) while SBI are still licking wounds and exhausted from the previous match up. Again, only my own thoughts maybe no one will agree and I dont care either way :p
Sneers from ET, HoD and JQ about SBI dropping a tier wouldnt worry me either. For a start its just a game and if you think dropping a tier really is important enough to worry about.. poor you..
Personally I feel like a marathon runner and I have hit ‘the wall’ I love W3, its why i bought GW2, I played warhammer for over 4 years for the same reason but I’m no elitiest, I need rest from constant battering. PvE is fine for a change but facing new, fresh opponents its what makes GW2 better than other games (IMHO).
There are going to be those people who are going to aggressively boast about their win or try to troll those with opinions differing their own but taking them serious is very difficult, considering they didn’t personally contribute to every single point their server scored and if they left their server, the scores would still be the same. Basically, they didnt single handedly turn the tables, its an empty boast. A server is only as strong as the sum of it’s parts. So go ahead, troll, boast, whatever just know without you, the server would of got on just fine. :p
Ill be watching keenly the scores of the next matchup and rooting for the underdogs. i’m glad to see JQ coming back from their previous week’s defeat and seeing they are NOT the QQ server they (unwittingly) lead us to believe.
I know i have babbled on but basically scores are fun in their own right but as for the match, the game itself its all about what you do for your team when your there that matters. Of course try for the win but know, as an indervidual, there is nothing you could of done about it either way.

Yup Germany has a holiday but dont worry one day you’ll have a holiday when they wont.
www.thebrewery.weebly.com
@samfisher – would like to extend that..
protip: never take supply from a keep/ tower unless repairing / building siege to defend THAT tower/ keep.
Protip : never be the one to have 0 supply in your pocket. If you have used it to build siege on a keep’s outer gate, try to get more as your gonna need it for the inner.
Protip : No one will ever say “we have too much siege!” We know it costs money but even the cheapest arrow cart can turn fail into win, try to always have some form of siege in your back pack.
Protip : banging on a gate without siege is doing it wrong.
www.thebrewery.weebly.com
Protip: learn compass points for quick communication.
e.g 30 HoD hitting NW gate of E keep, 10 heading to NE supply.
Each map has different names for the towers, keeps and supply. Seeing as the borderlands maps are laid out the same, learning the compass points for these locations is often easier.

GW2J Vidcast: Nightcapping is Valid! Ritsuko of SYN and Marstar of ELTE
in WvW
Posted by: Karicus.8356
got halfway thro this podcast and turned it off… reason was, it was biased. 4 players from HoD ‘justifying’ themselves and making assumptions about the other servers’ gameplay.
I’ll agree night capping is NOT an issue but really blow your own trumpet much? Get some balance in your interviews.
HoD done a great job turning around that points deficit but claiming it was because “the other servers thought it was over so didnt log on” is BS!
end of the day, when the sun goes down… The Asianoceanic crew (or whatever you ‘prefer’ to call yourselves) come online, have no resistance and take everything.. great tactic but thats all it is, PvD. During the day when its USA prime time and HoD sit in their keeps and hide playing supply camp trading basically relying on what the ‘night crew’ (for want of a better phrase) have done to tide them over.
I laughed so hard when i heard your ‘excuse’ for the reason you were so low in the points at the weekend. “The ques were so long we didnt log on” fair comment but for guilds who ‘claim’ to be soul PvP guilds NOT doing PvP (or W3) is an oxymoron. What would increase all your gaming pleasure, is for those guilds who ‘claim’ to love W3 to find a server who’s ques times are lesser. Cant enjoy W3 if you cant log in to it can you?
Even then, on a ‘good’ day a 5 hour que time?
HoD IS the server to beat and its NOT because they have PvP experienced guilds or do nothing but PvP, its because the AsianOceanic crew come online with no opposition (or very little, again this was admitted in the podcast) PvD everything and the day crew just act as ‘caretakers’ till they come back. The REAL fight was the weekend of the server switch but.. ohh you ALL have lives? You were ALL out enjoying the sunshine and flowers and baby kittens? laughs No! you either couldnt log in or didnt want to. You either enjoy W3 or you enjoy winning… because of que times, you cant have your cake and eat it.
Just be honest and say it how it is; a few good guilds joined on HoD at release, started to score some good points and with free transfers, people started surfing your coat tails for the easy win.
This Podcast was so biased and self righteous I almost puked.
Not crying or QQing and I still enjoy W3 I just find it so incredibly amusing how you can clearly shout out your ‘awesomeness’ under the guise of an informative Podcast. Time to wind your neck in guys. HoD – loosing respect even more.

zerg dont buy siege… zerg SMASH!
Although, totally agree… more people carrying siege = more chance of success.. also.. make sure you always have supply on you.
www.thebrewery.weebly.com
@dapheonix – nice vid 3v1 perhaps but more like 1 kill for 1 death, great tactic tho, attack the npc to draw that guy away from his npc help… smooth, like that.
I understand the ‘hunt’ and if you can get your rewards elsewhere then more power to you (yeh im not in exotic just yet) but W3 is a team battle. The events are team based, score is based on team contribution i find, so called ‘gankers’ are not team players. besides we all know W3 isnt balanced so if your rolling full exotics and come up against scrubs like me who are yet to get exotics, the match is pretty much decided, unless I pull some smooth moves or you make some serious mistakes.
So honestly, i have no time for ‘gankers’ in W3 and, in a way, see it as an annoyance because, lets be honest, the real challenge for solos players is SPvP where the balancing is much tighter and relies more on skill rather than gear.
Then again.. I dont approve of zerging either, yeh it has its uses but in W3 where strategy is worth more than sheer numbers, a well put together team can do some serious damage.
Again, all my humble opinion anyway.
As for War, YES ganking got better rewards especially with the AAO buff.. Some players could get more renown from killing one or two players in a 400% AAO zone than the entire other realm could from the keep take. Which lead to small gank groups trudging round zones just picking ppl off for serious renown and totally ignoring any defense… broken game.
www.thebrewery.weebly.com
Have to admit, some great kills there. I play a thief too but favor dagger dagger.
I noticed you basically use the number 1 ability with the cloak and dagger for finishing moves (ignoring the use of tactical abilities tho) while your positioning and evading is superb it does seem as tho you one key-kill stuff. Great video tho, nice to see you bring down a number of HoD vs 1 :p they are not huge threat without their zerg. Great vid, thanks for posting.
Curious tho, how are you specced? Full power and crit? and what kind of weapons you using? Always interested in how to better my own thief.
www.thebrewery.weebly.com
@ Mike I know one of those spots and got caught out a couple of times there LOL
i now take a back route around and see if there are any enemy gankers using it.. to gank the ganker hehe..
Soon all fav ganking spots will be treated this way :p
www.thebrewery.weebly.com
I’ll admit, im only seeing USA prime time, SBI Bl activity and (apart from the score sheet) first hand experience from two days ago after which i calmly walked into PvE. Things may have changed or be seen differently by other people, the above post is only what I feel. Take it or leave it
www.thebrewery.weebly.com
Like to get something straight before i post; Im NOT against night capping in anyway; everyone, in any part of the world has the right to play the game at whatever time they can.
I mostly play on SBI borderlands and although we have had some awesome fights against HoD, I’m starting to loose respect for them and in a way, gaining more for JQQ and ET. shocked
HoD have a huge off peak population, yeh we know this shrug and (as pointed out before ) have nothing against that. What I do have an issue with is the prime time HoD crew just seemingly laying back and chillin’. There seems to be an attitude of “whatever, we loose stuff but our night crew will get it back..meh” and so they hide in their well supplied and upgraded keeps, curtsy of their night crews, and occasionally poke their heads out when someone either knocks on their door or its point tally time and they try to take supply camps ready for the timer tick.
They did try to knock on one of our unupgraded norther towers with three cats and a zerg, got wiped, which was surprising as they seemed to out number us and dint come back. I was sat there expecting a HoD push and a huge fight but no, they hid in the keep behind their steel walls until 2 mins left on timer to take back camps and ran off.
I dont mind loosing if we can have some great battles in the mean time but HoD seem to be loosing their drive and its because they dont need to fight, let the night crew cap and just sit there.. that’s real dull..
ET and JQQ on the other hand are starting to put up some real resistance. SBi, Et and JQQ dont have the huge nigh crew and have to fight tooth and nail for everything they get and after the first two match ups with JQQ qqing I think they have started to pull together, some respect is transfer from HoD to JQQ here (may even stop calling them JQQ!).
Fights against the top 4 servers are now a fight between three! HoD will dominate and only because of their so commonly called ‘night crew’ so their ability to play or achievements are being brushed aside and ignored whereas the real fight is now for second place between JQQ, SBI and ET. These three servers seem to actually want something and fight hard for it so cudos to all three.
Fighting HoD in BL seems to be a fight for supply camp trading. Although some good xp and karma can be had from it, it gets a little tiresome. Needless to say, for the past few days I have given up on W3 and decided to venture into PvE, I do keep checking the scores however and that is now mostly, not to see how we’re doing against HoD but how the third place server (ET or JQQ) are doing against US.
There is NO fight for gold any more, only the fight for silver.
www.thebrewery.weebly.com
Not a fan of ‘ganking’. A ganker, by definition is just a lone ranger who enjoys getting single or double kills just to be annoying. What it will mean is, if one person is trying to reach a large fight and is ganked a couple of times on the way, they will only end up bringing friends next time to clear the way so a ganker SHOULD expect to be killed. I find the whole idea of a ganker complaining that they cant 1v1 laughable, to be honest.
Ok solo kills can be fun, dont get me wrong. Trying to get to an area you need to be at to help your team and come across an enemy, kill them and continue onwards is great fun but sitting, hiding and laying in wait seems very low. Warhammer had a huge gank problem where you could end up getting more rewards from killing single players than you could from helping out large scale attacks on keeps. This encouraged a whole new mentality of “forget defending, we get more from solo kills” and eventually ruined the premise of the game.
GW2, however is built differently. Appart from the occasional chance of getting a badge of honor, your XP and rewards are extremely low from 1v1 kills in comparison to helping group events or even from ‘ganking’ dollyaks (yeh i know PvE). Thus encouraging ppl to actually try to do something worthwhile rather than sitting behind a rock trying to pick off the occasional player lagging behind the pack.
W3 isnt built for gankers, thankfully. By all means go do what you wanna do, have fun but dont cry on the forums when you find you cant gank as effectively as you may be able to in other games.
www.thebrewery.weebly.com
Umm how to stop an empty keep being taken so quickly? I’m right in reading the title of this thread arent i?
Because there is a really simple answer…. Defend it.
what Kazim said.
www.thebrewery.weebly.com
So while running away, instead of trying to prolong his life or ‘give it ago’, he opens hero panel, removes his armor then dies?
wow, more enemies should do this, easy loot, easy badges haha.
On a side note, was hacking (with my daggers not a cheat :p ) at this one guy and in a desperate attempt to get away he jumped off a cliff. Pretty common tactic for cowards, you’d agree. However, because i was already hitting him and he died when he fell (he knew he would, that was obvious even to the simplest of morons due to what life he had left) a loot bag popped up beside me and I got a badge of honor! whoot. So note to cowards, jumping off cliffs and being killed by the fall DOESNT stop your attacker getting credit for the kill… just makes it easier.
www.thebrewery.weebly.com
I always place a treb on the garrison cliff to hit Bay and I know it can be done, so, if true, that’s a little weird. Should of been getting about 6k damage off the walls i guess?
Takes a while for those walls to go down tho, so unless they had a supply train fixing them you should of seen the health bar move.. Will look out for this when next i fire a treb at those walls.
www.thebrewery.weebly.com
I remember that Mishi, amist a scream of map chat about the garrison being lost. we came back from repawn and saved it.. epic fight.
Cant remember who were were fighting but it was in beta… Whacking on Bay’s north gate, with only NPC guards and the odd enemy on the walls to contend with we though we had it in the bag until the gates went down and we saw an army of golums.
I think the sudden surprise was what wiped us but man did we laugh..
“bashing our gate down are you.. SURPRISE!!!!”
www.thebrewery.weebly.com
No. This is worrying however. Where were you hitting from?
Depending on the wall some wont take damage because they are undestroyable, like corners or short pieces. As for the gate… If you were hitting that from garrison you have to be bang on a very tiny place to hit it. However, you said you were getting damage numbers. Was the keep fortified?
www.thebrewery.weebly.com
@sky – that’s ok
I have been getting fed up of that mentality too. I was hoping (and it seems to have worked) to have gotten a great, exciting discussion, using points as the basis of that excitement RATHER then a measure of overall greatness.
I hope we do win but even if we dont, it sure sounds like everyone is having some serious W3 fun and the uncertainty of it all is great.
Any predictions on final order?
mine is ;
SBI
HoD
ET
BUT HoD will be nipping at our ankles, i think it will run down to the wire.
www.thebrewery.weebly.com
@ sky… whoa! I am NOT looking for proof of better players sheesh I just enjoy watching the scores, seeing how other servers are doing and have a little ‘server pride’ now and then.
When it comes to W3, i fully understand it’s mechanic; its an entire server contribution not just a 6 man v 6 man tournament. Believe me i know.
I’m just enjoying how unpredictable and exciting this whole match is. If i want to say “hey we’re the best” Yes, i’d play SPvP – that is what it’s for. W3 is fun for the whole server
just though others would find is at interesting as i Do is all
www.thebrewery.weebly.com
^ agree!
and said as much in an earlier post. Just commenting on those who STILL think its a night cap issue and that ANet wont do anything about it
www.thebrewery.weebly.com
Oh the scores dont bother me. I play even when we’re last and have a great time. On the flip side, however, I find it fun to watch them, see trends etc.
I agree scores are meaningless markers as to how well a server plays; a server fielding 50 ppl will loose against a server fielding 500 ppl. That doesnt mean the higher server plays better just means…. they have more ppl.
www.thebrewery.weebly.com
agree, defending what you have means more points in the long run. Taking a tower at point cross over only to loose it in the next 15 mins, its, frankly, pointless. Ok we get 10 points but 15 mins later we loose 10 points.. back to square 1… If we can upgrade and defend that tower we get more.
No point in pushing into ET territory when our back lines are weak and vulnerable.

Um its NOT night capping. Its a population issue. That’s why ANet dont see it as a problem; it doesnt exist. Wonder when ppl will realize, while its night time in the USA, its Daytime in other places? Off peak on USA is Peek for others. Ergo.. No issue.
HOWEVER, the population imbalance is another issue. Hence, the outmanned buff and as soon as people realize that, maybe solutions can be discussed properly. So what we really SHOULD be discussing is what will help those servers who are outmanned?

Yeh i saw this happen in Beta, seems to only happen on the Eastern keep tho, as i saw so far. The guards go down quick but the keep sometimes gets contested because of it.
Wasnt sure if it was a bug or a feature, reported it anyway to be sure.

Good work guys, you successfully logged in more players than the other servers combined!
hmm maybe so but the fact still stands, they are pushing back and this is anyone’s match
www.thebrewery.weebly.com
Basically we just AOE attacked there trebs from the walls and it is 100% impossible to hit the trebs in there overlook keep because the trebs are too far back.
This is an exploit for a few reasons….
1. It keeps stomemist contested 24/7 and you can never stop it. So this makes it an exploit, unable to stop them contesting a waypoint 100% of the time? Yeah exploit…
2. They are keeping the wall at 0% health all the time because of these trebs and we have no way to stop them. We can not even target those trebs that far back in there base.
3. They just keep building more, 4-5 of them inside the base and they drop a wall in minutes with no way to counter…..that can not be intended gameplay for WvW….
How are these exploits??
1. Keeping a wp contested means slowing the reinforcements from your enemy, good tactic, not exploit.
2. keeping the wall at 0% health means you either have to spend supply to rebuild it, make a defense when they decide to actually push SM or mount an attack of your own.
3.If your talking about the position of the trebs where i think you mean.. is that position attack able? at any time? if so… attack it, maybe?
Holding SM is always difficult, even some of the large servers struggle without the man power, its always a target. From what i have read, i dont see exploits, i see tactics. shrugs
as for the server transfers, ANet will close those soon enough but with the MAC release, they cant. They are letting MAC users settle, find a home and such, much like they did when the PC version was released. So for now, swallow those transfers and know, soon enough, they will close.

Meh! there will always be spying… Xrealming in Warhammer was always an issue, just know it happens and move on. At least with GW2 (when they make server transfers cost money) it will be harder to do it, UNLESS a single guy has purchased TWO or more accounts just for that purpose, in which case…haha..hahaha..HAHAHAHA what a waste of money.

Like i said, my calculations stand if NOTHING changes. Its more an estimate but i agree, things WILL change and as it stands, its fairly unpredictable atm and i LOVE that! This is a pretty close fight, lets see how it looks after tonight, I for one am looking forward to it.

Your point being? What are you trying to imply?
It really depends on the situation but yeh, sometimes its a smart tactic to leave one side alone, especially if they are fighting the other server from a different angle, why poke the bear when you can attack the injured lion?

After this weekend, seeing you guys HoD sat in third place, we were getting a little worried.
We were talking about it in guild chat and all sorts of ‘theories’ came up, such as a lot of your guys had transferred off HoD so they didnt have such long que times and the such Or you were backing off a little to get matched against lesser servers next time… all theories I might add.
Short story is, after such great fights last week Against us (SBI) and JQQ we were feeling somewhat worried about you. We like a good HoD fight, win or loose it’s always exciting.
Just logged in and took a peek, however, and as it stands, if NOTHING changes, HoD will take second place in overall score in about 4.5 hours and take first place from us (SBI) in a little under 48 hours (yes I’m sad enough to have created a quick spread sheet hahaha).
We can breath a sigh of relief that HoD is back! Looking forward to some great fights and if you see a little Azurian Thief with a large feathered hat bowing at your corpse or (more than likely) laying at your feet chewing dirt, wave and I’ll see you around.
What a great sport you gu….. WAIT A MIN, did you take StoneMist?! I’ve changed my mind.. LOL Jk

Possibly increase the gates of towers / keeps to be more resilient depending on how much your outmanned by giving low numbers of defenders just a little bit more time to defend, increase the strength of the guards too, again, depending on how much your out manned by, giving the attacking force a little more of a challenge.
These should be calculated due to population NOT just because you have the outmanned buff, the gates are suddenly twice as strong. If they have twice as many guys as you, gates, twice as strong… three times the amount of guys, three times as strong… something along those lines. Obviously i’m plucking figures and the math would have to be properly thought out but you get the idea

Im in favor of having their real name, address and social security number all posted publicly..name and shame, name and shame. lol
Seriously tho.. ANet, please.. lets not let GW2 become the new APB, where unless your cheating, or hacking, your the minority.

report him, let ANet sort them out

^ good post!
Except the lvl 80 – I see your reasoning but we all joined this game mostly for the W3 and i still believe lowbies have their role too.. cannon fodder mostly but even so a small group of lowbies can take out supply dollys, sentrys and even non upgraded supply camps fairly well. That is the only thing i disagree with you on tho, even tho i do see your point of view
www.thebrewery.weebly.com
Going full glass cannon is fine… I’m trying it with my thief now.
HOWEVER, you need to pick targets carefully, get in and out fast, constantly move and expect to die! BIGGEST thing there; expect to die.
and die alot lol
My build is not great for keep / tower attacks or defenses because of the AOE issue. I notice many people build their characters to do lots of aoe damage, just for these kind of situations. The thing I love about W3 is the fact there are many different situations.
Although I know i’m not great at keep attacks I know I’m pretty well set up for supply camps, dollyacks and open war. I dont complain about it, I know what I’m good at and that’s how i built, stick to what your good at because whatever it is you do, your helping your server at some point, some where
