I believe this has to do with the server you are trying to log into. I have two accounts. One on a less crowded server (Sorrow’s Furnace) and I can reach the map just fine. When I try to log into my newer account on one of the more crowded tiers, don’t remember which one, it crashes when it’s about to load the map.

Adding a new tier of gear goes against the design manifesto that convinced me to buy this game. Slowing down the release of new gear with higher stats does not prevent it form being a gear treadmill no matter how much you try to convince yourselves otherwise.

Also, you need to expand your profession balance team or just fire them and hire new ones. Things like completely removing the blast finisher on Evasive Arcana killed the class for most players and made the class far less dynamic for the ones sticking around. Just because something is unintentional doesn’t mean it should be completely removed without considering the balance ramifications. Sometimes unintentional bugs deserve to be reclassified as features.

Small concurrency of players online per day isn’t good for guild wars 2 structure because most of the content is best when you experience with another player. It’s dynamic events. Imagine on a low concurrency day and there’s 10 dynamic events but only you and another player online. The rest of the players were not online because they are already satisfied with their gear looks and have no more goals. Those kind of inactive players are those who only come online if there’s any world event or major updates going on.

How exactly is forcing players into instanced dungeons to progress going to help keep people around for dynamic events?

Ok you take one group with 36% more stats over all due to having full sets of new gears/weapons vs another group that does not have that stuff….

Tell me, who will win in pure numbers?

Oh you say it’s only 2 rings and a back slot, silly! Then I point out they explicitly said they are not only adding a full set with accompanied weapons but ALSO with mutiple ‘tiers’ and more legendaries on top of that.

So now you want to not play and not be left behind in stats or gear… oh dear… C’mon if you dont play the gae for 3 months or whatnot ofc you will be left behind, thats perfectly normal and expected…

This game becomes Gear Wars, just like that other game and all it’s clones.

That would be a no thank you for me.

They said it in their announcement post that the gear wouldn’t all be released at once. The only ascended gear being released today is a piece or two…. ill go back and read maybe ive been up to long and im off my rocker o.O. But if they release say 2 pieces every 3 months….. the situation you outlined above is really not gonna happen because most will go after the new pieces.

Most who are at the level cap, who have full sets of good gear (rare or exotic), who enjoy dungeons, who want to grind for Ascended gear (which based on their reasoning will be more difficult than exotics, less than legendary), and who have the privilege to play the game over the next couple months.

Anyone who does not fall into ALL of those categories will be left behind.

Look… If you expect to NOT play this game and still be on par with everyobne your having a pipe dream. I cant beleive that anyone would egnuinley think that would be acceptable. If you dont play the game EXPECT to be l eft behind its perfectly natural. This smacks of people who want everything but dont want to put the effort in.

And this is true. The game will still be fun from moment to moment. It still doesent mean u can not play for 3 months and remain at the same level as everyone else.

Is it even possible for you to understand that many of us bought the game with the understanding that we would be able to quit for 3 months and come back at the same level as everyone else? That is how it was advertised and that’s why we actually decided to get this MMO. We’re tired of the MMO design that you seem to crave and this one promised us something that is now going away.

Ascended Items Need the Same Stats as Exotics

I actually loled at this topic title, you want free ascended gear? No. Mmo’s grow, and so will you. It’s a formula us mmo gamers are all accustom to and it’s essential to give the game longevity. Every time new gear tiers are introduced, it’s always funny to see how those in end game feel “entitled” to free upgrades XD.

No, most people who bought GW2 did so because they didn’t want vertical gear progression. We are tired of that mmo model. It has nothing to do with wanting free gear, its not wanting new content to be gated and tied to RNG generated gear.

I’m sorry, “most” people did not buy gw2 for the reason you stated above, that’s quite the assumption. How do you think mmo’s keep people playing long term? People expect new content like dungeons, new arenas to fight in, more epic stats or appearance items to achieve, it’s all a standard feature in any mmo on the market today to KEEP YOU LOGGED ON. Like it or not, the devs are trying to make their bacon, and do so by keeping you logged on. “But I play for fun and not for gear,” well, many people also enjoy chasing carrots(new gear etc..), you expect the devs to cut those players out entirely by NEVER introducing new tiers? If you dont want gear inflation found in every mmo, then you can play spvp where gear inflation does not reach.

You may have missed something, but we don’t pay to log on to GW2. It’s not getting arenanet money to cater to the crowd that lives in the game since they are buying gems with gold, not actual cash.

From everything I’ve read the new ascended armor has higher base stats because you can’t rune/orb them up to give them a stat increase. Therefore they’re only really useful for the infusion slot to prevent agony in the dungeon.

Take a look at the stats posted in the screenshot of the developer post. The stats on the ascended item are higher than that of the exotic plus it’s exotic jewel.

I just want to add my discontent with adding new tiers of gear. Even if Anet doesn’t call it a gear treadmill, higher stats are higher stats. I don’t want to worry about having to catch up on content if I take a break. This is breaking a promise from the original design of the game as advertised and I am extremely disappointed. You can add me to the list of people who don’t plan on buying any more gems from the cash shop.

Home Instance...is it? Is it really?

Mehid and Salia are the ones who help with the dead parents quest line right? I found the in my home instance actually. They weren’t named, but they looked exactly the same and were just hanging out in the town square. I also had a bunch of quaggans playing in the fountain since I picked them.

Agreed though, I would have liked the home instance to be even more personalized. I loved hearing people’s reactions when I let a certain character die in the human street rat quest line. It was painful and made me actually feel something.

I wonder if it also autoattacks when swapping elements. That could explain it in part. Still don’t understand why I’m interacting with NPCs when I turned off double-click to interact and my hand is nowhere near the f key.

Has anyone else had issues with the game automatically attacking and interacting with enemies/npcs/objects around them? I’ll be running around and suddenly find my character throwing lightning at the moa nearby. I was most aggravating when I tried to sneak by a pack of ice elementals to get some silver only to suddenly find myself throwing a fireball right into the middle and pulling them all down on top of me.

I don’t think that it’s my hardware since I’ve never seen keypresses randomly appear in any other program on my computer and I haven’t had issues with random mouse clicks either.

I turned of double click to interact/attack in the options so I don’t think it’s that either.
