My thought stays the same tho, using any of those you will become so squishy that you will not be able to fight in a group fight.
As chrono U can try to to use Destroyer or Sage. U will be more fragile but still can get some damage from condis.
As core mes U’ll be dead without merc.
How about carrion?
Health is nice but in general the toughness is what kept them alive. Thfs and Any other pwr spike class will destroy them even faster. And sorry about destroyer didn’t had its stats mixed up in my head. I think that it will have the damage but you will be dead so fast it wont matter.
Wondering if a paladin amulet bunker style play would work.
use destroyer amulet, play hybrid build. Destroyer amulet is actually very strong.
No condition damage = no hybrid pressure.
What does everyone think? Honestly im not sure you can play Mesmer with viper and without the hybrid ability I think Mesmer will fall much farther down the list of class tiers.
Any mesmers out there have an idea of what build they are going to run now? I play Mesmer on the side for fun not main, just curious what the mains are going to do to adapt to this.

Two things id like to see
1.) Instead of Spending gold on amulets/sigils/runes for PvP let us spend these tickets.
2.) Skins or Items that are PvP oriented/PvP only. Their are tons of things you can only get in PVE appearance wise, it should be the same for PvP, give us some separation. I play 95% pvp in this game, yet I feel like the PVE game gets almost 95% of the attention.
It still removes a condition periodically if they above 75% and I main ele, so trust me with fire 3 evade, 2 dodge rolls plus overcharge water, I will never go below 90% against a necro 1v1 because until he gets me below 75% I am constantly cleansing his condi’s.

Just wanted to share the build thats been working the best for me so far. I call it the Papercut-mancer. Its a bleeding build that can quickly reach 20-30 stacks in only a few seconds, along with all the cover conditions that come from staff and offhand dagger. So far, I haven’t lost a duel or even a 1v2 with this build, and its been getting me more damage on average then terror or signets did. Its also pretty survivable with the 20 second heal and 3 condi transfers. The only thing I needed to watch for is plague sig necros, but even they haven’t been a huge threat so far.
My biggest concern would be breaking through diamond skin ele’s with this build. Also how is the life force generation not having the warhorn 5 to keep you in reaper longer?
And i think the new change to chill dmg/bleed is amazing, making necro much more fun to play.
how is your survivability with low vitality? also no pwr dmg?

. I think the maps are great and Ok as they are however with the way the maps are setup Mesmer has advantage with portal and MOA play. Not sure if we should change the maps so that Moa and Portal are less useful or change the Mesmer abilities all together.
Majority of mesmer’s viable builds since release have utilized shatters as the apex of their damage. Those require 2 long cooldowns available on each weapon set to summon a grand total of 2 illusions (outside certain exceptions like +1 clone on sword offhand, or AA on scepter. Both of which are rarely used) If the mesmer runs dueling they also have a clone on a doge roll. Not that many mesmers take dueling right now, since most take insp to deal with condi if their team can’t cover them, and even power mesmers require domination to even do decent damage.
So for max damage mesmer needs to pop a minimum of 5 clone or phant spawning c/ds. Mesmers typically have one primary clone generator and one phantasm per weapon set.
^ all of which btw can be negated by cleave and AoE.
image if condis, or warrior adrenaline bar could just be cleaved down or required specific cooldowns per weapon set. lolEverything else a mesmer can do with their two remaining attacks is negligible damage wise, and is often CC, or a defensive cooldown. Typically though the damage is easy to out heal regardless of your spec. (well unless you run something completely unviable.)
Now to avoid shatters is like avoiding 100b, the tell is there, you see it coming. Doge into the illusions, and you will mitigate most if not all of the damage. I cannot express how easy this is, and this is like the single most valuable thing that shuts a mesmer down. I have killed my fellow mesmers in moa on different classes just because it’s that simple.
So this means that a mesmer to do max damage has to blow C/Ds on both weapon sets, Plus aided utilities, two shatter cooldowns (one of which is over 30 seconds if domination) and this is all under the context that 1. your clones didn’t die in AoE or Cleave. 2. your opponent didn’t take pressure back. 3. he didn’t just doge the obvious animations. Only to achieve: less damage than a thief with less escape, or DH with less chase, and very little momentum to follow up with, nor the ability to keep yourself a float or pressure if you screwed up or fail to eliminate your target.
Also out side of S1. mes gets easily pushed off points, so it has even less value in certain areas.
tl;dr
There is a large stigma against mesmers and it’s only justification is noob stomping for the bads who get lost in the clones and can’t doge shatters. But fact is if you die 1v1 to a shatter mesmer you got out played. Arguably it was given the tools to outplay you, but you had just as much of a chance if not more, to outplay it. Thus Shatter mesmer condi or otherwise is not OP.If you want to entertain a discussion of mesmers strength being condi, it is a problem with condi itself not mesmer.
If the team utility is what makes it OP, the context of how mesmer has to fight is justification for it’s strong utility roam.
So you are telling me anytime a Mesmer wins 1v1 I was outplayed? Honestly…Eveyrone else is saying Mesmer is great 1v1….And parking someone at home ot guard the Mesmer portal is stupid because, his portal acts as a proxy so he can +1 a fight. Regardless I think they need a trim. Im not saying that they got buffed….however when everyone else gets a nerf its a buff for Mesmer its simple logic.
I’m a warrior and I rofl stomp mesmers. Thiefs/warriors are their hard counter imo, but since no one runs them in meta….

can you show me the balance changes that will bring power shatter back in s3 please? you can`t mean the scepter buffs (do you expect to see powershatter with scepter in pvp meta? maybe not even condi/hybridmesmer will take scepter over sword) or you mean the alacrity buff? These changes helping already op and brain dead playable condibuilds way more than it helps a powershatter. In relation to all other builds from other classes it`s still too weak to get meta, not only in relation to the unnerfed condimesmer builds. Maybe i`m wrong but i don`t see anything that would bring power shatter back, all i see is another boring season with this condi-build for mesmer and facetanking eles and ranger crying about moa because it`s the one skill they need to dodge… to bring power shatter back anet also don`t need to buff power shatter, they just need to nerf everything else (incl. mesmers inspiration- and chaosline).
Amen. These ppl are oblivious to the pwr Mesmer has now. Before enginstood a chance against them now they even screwwd. This will be 3-4 mesmers per game cause why not. I’m posting here in hopes anet reads this. Seeing as they had no problem communicating to the people applauding them above. Please read the rest ofbthe posts and at least acknowledge us. I want to hear you say that Mesmer is OK after Helseth 1v3 on his. Not survived like a bunker but survived and killed.

Im saying a good Mesmer is more of a play maker than a good necro. And not giving any nerfs to a class that was top tier in CC as well as escapes/mobility is ludicrous . Why nerf classes that aren’t even top tier then add things to the ones that are? makes no sense. And honestly im not sure how the new necro stuff will work out. Its likely that they will be bottom tier to Rev/Mesmer as dmg classes. like I said before I don’t play necro, but I never had any issue fighting one previously.

Did you happen to notice the patch notes???? And how that Mesmer got nothing but BUFFS. Mesmer was tier 1 in pvp already 2 of them per game most likely. Yet Anet only buffs them, I know they didn’t really buff the weps they use in the meta but still no nerfs at all to anything, their sustain, their escape, their condi spike…… People why cried about the necro didn’t know how to fight a necro simple as that. Low tier players complain about necro because their skill is lacking not htat necro is that OP, and I don’t main necro. These balance patches are a waste of our time and Anets, they might as well fire their pvp dev team, save themselves thousands of dollars a year and just let us play the same thing over and over. Seems the more they “work” the more things suffer.
This would be a more defensive build. I just worry that only applying bleed and poison with dagger attacks, and just torment on dodge would greatly reduce the potential for this build to actually kill anything.

arent u lacking stunbreakers and some heal considering the lack of stealth?
My idea is that with acrobatics as well as the passive energy regen as well as extra energy from sources you would have around 12+ dodge rolls not counting your normal regen from vigor. The stunbreaker (passive) that gives energy would be used for escapes, use that and dodge roll 3 time sin one direction swapping to SB5 and get away. Since dodge rolls do dmg with the talent in daredevil, im doing dmg while I dodge etc.

It has tons of evades, with acrobatics as well as sigil etc. each evade does condi dmg, and heals you. Plus passive endurance refills and refill on heals.

Any comments ideas? Curious to see as when taking daredevil you actually give up the condis you could get form another tree, but daredevil is too OP not to have in.
Its been ridiculous the past few days. My friends and I are in diamond/Ruby. We constantly notice people we get in with having a diamond person party with a rank 1 or 2. This almost instantly gives us a loss. I just don’t understand how that is fair. Its an instant 4v5 match most of the time. Im all for variety, shorter Q times, and balanced gameplay but allowing higher ranks to Q with a 1 or 2 in their party is just toxic. Its happening more now I guess since its close to the end of the season and people want their achiev’s etc, but other players are losing PIPS because of this. I would rather wait 10 minutes on a Q than get in 3 games in a row where I am diamond, but have a amber on my team.
Anet is their any possible way you can address this situation? At least a response saying you know it happens, even if you say nothing is going to change. I am just frustrated with PvP in this game. Every “balance” change causes something else to be much worse.
I dont see how you can beat a team with this comp. This is non stop anymore in diamond for me.

honestly i didnt look to see if it was premade, just annoying really. at one point i had so many condi’s i blew every cleanse i had and looked up to notice i had all of the same conid’s again on me.

The talent Decimate Defense in reaper tree does not increase your crit when you hit a vuln foe like it says. Ive tested on target dummy and svanir in mists, it does nothing.

You either drop in 3 seconds or you drop someone in 3 seconds. most of the time not even knowing what you hit them for or what they hit you with. Its just a battle royal of everyone getting their DPS rocks off.
Yes, positioning yourself correctly and coordinating your dmg cds against the focus is the most important thing on teamfights, and I dont know how is this a bad thing
Mainly because when the game was created they said no holy trinity which I was fine with, but they would have a semi style called support control and damage. Well the control and damage now go hand in hand you get both and support is almost non existent people run builds that help themselves stay alive albeit not long, and their Is no group support anymore. I don’t have to say more than this…
We have a class called “GUARDIAN” who is the single most squishy bunker style play in the game. He has no help to provide in this state of the game yet his name is GUARDIAN. he cant guard anything other than his spawn point. or the target dummy.

Most of us have the full exotic/ascended gear that is available to us.
We enjoy SPVP as well as potentially doing higher end fractals and raids.
But I still lose PIPS in ranked when someone DC’s….how fair.
Also I see that finally someone posted on the PVP forums from ANET, could you please make some comments on the 300 other posts people have made talking about the state of this game and SPVP. We know you are here now.

It may not be nice, but I feel like everyone is forgotten on these forums. Watch other forums, PVE/Dungeons etc. they comment and make posts all the time. It seems this never happens. Im not saying they need to offer solutions in there posts, but at least acknowledge our existence and our concerns. I have played MMO after MMO and this one has the least amount of player support than any. If I am the only one that feels that way maybe someone can enlighten me, but I am sure I am not.

Tried bunker guardian last night, I was like wet toilet paper….sad a class called…..GUARDIAN….cant guard kitten accept for his home spawn point.
I may try do a block bunker guard build with dragonhunter traits. Every block removes a condition. Maybe the aegis trap and rest shouts. I dunno though. I tried making a bomb build just now in theory, but it seems if I go that route I honestly have like 2 condition cleanses so im screwed. Its like engi have to take Elixir traits to just sustain anymore unless you running the Hammer Scrapper stuff.
Hmm…as far as new ‘meta’ builds, it’s so hard to say since so many builds become meta not only because of how strong they are themselves, but also because of how strong they are against other popular builds. So far, the only clear winners seem to be necros and thieves. Assuming this, here are my guesses for builds that could become viable or even meta:
- Shout Bow comeback. The Mender’s amulet seems to be well suited for this build and this build is getting some positive feedback on the war sub forums. If condi necro really becomes popular, this could help shout bow do well, despite the nerfs it’s seen in the past.
- Condi bomb kit engi. This has always been a strong counter to thieves and now that thieves are back in the game, they may start to do more than just +1 and decap.
- Marauder Engi. Chaithh played this with some pretty good success before the soldier’s variant took over. I’m pretty sure he even used this to hit legendary during last season. This is a solid heavy dps build that seems to only have been improved from the class changes and should fit in well with a burst meta due to the high damage and invulns/blocks.
- Shout Longbow Rangers – I’m going out on a limb with this and this may honestly only be something that works in solo queues, but with auras being nerfed and bunker mesmers being pushed out, there should be less projectile hate. The shout buffs also seem like they could be good enough to actually take now. If the thief gets strong enough, this is another strong combo, especially if “Sic ’Em!” is taken.
- Pistol Whip Comeback – This is another stretch guess. I still think D/P and Staff will rule the day, but a necro-heavy meta could make the high CC of a pistol whip build shine, particularly since the sword AA is in a better spot.
Anyways, those are my wild speculations so far.

I used to play a bomb engi back in the day. I freeking loved it. I even played it with some tanky amulets, sometimes carrion, sometimes even soldier just as a decap and splash field guy. I hope you are right and this is viable again. NOt sure if putting points in scrapper would even be worth it though.

Great haha, one of the classes I don’t play. I love playing bunker style play, and I am totally OK with not living against 3+ solo on a node.
Just Arena Net give us a little flexibility.
That’s the problem I see. It seems that Bunker vs A new DPS build, it always goes to the DPS cause bunker does no dmg at all and still cant live. Shouldn’t a bunker be able to last against at least 1 dps, and even 2 dps for a limited time like 20seconds or so. This game feels more like a 1 role game.
If anyone has any builds or ideas they would like to share I would like to get the previous sup/bunker people talking about it.
I would like to build a hybrid dragon hunter bunker build. I think it would work depending on team comp.
Sadly everytime I got in a game yesterday on any of my classes, I felt like I was just getting stomped in 10 seconds, or my team killed htem in 10 seconds. Mid fights lasted a total of like 20 seconds and its over.
Just curious if anyone is thinking outside the box on potential bunker or sup builds as well as maybe some hybrid play? Anyone experimenting with a way to still bunk as ele or druid, or maybe even a guardian sup bunk?

Hello, im currently moving back into this game after spending over a year off from it. I enjoyed the game before but other things came in play and I didn’t play this as much. I was wondering as PVP was a main focus of my time back in the days I played, is their a good website or reference for pvp builds. I’ve looked on www.metabattle.com and I see there are about 4 builds for each class. I know those may be the "meta"builds but obviously others are being ran by people all time time. I used to play other MMO’s and they would always have website or locations to view other peoples builds and setups as well as just a central hub of pvp communication. Im looking for builds that I enjoy and I have built some on my own but its always nice to work with other fellow pvpers and learn what they have found helpful, informative, as well as successful.
