Mouse wheel not working is connected to the resetting options glitch. You have to go back into options every time you relog and untick “scroll gestures,” then your mouse wheel will work again.

But on topic, I stopped by the thread to see if I could finally upgrade my OS from 10.8.5 – sadly, I guess the answer is still no.

When I try that terminal command I get this:

Same issue. Sometimes no error message. Sometimes it’s Exception: c0000005.
Will either knock me to character select or desktop, sometimes it crashes my entire computer. Happens every couple of hours, no rhyme or reason: sometimes mid-fight, sometimes standing completely alone with zilch going on around me while dealing with a merchant. Even happened once while I was literally doing nothing as I’d just stepped away from my computer for a moment and came back to it crashed to desktop.

No problems with any other games. Only GW2. The mac “beta” has gotten steadily worse over the past few years. Again, seems obvious that it’s not being remotely supported anymore.

As far as I can tell, they have completely given up on the Mac Beta. It’s impossible to find any up-to-date information about its interaction with Yosemete… Anet no longer responds to any issues about our crashes… and they’ve combined the Mac & PC Technical Support sections to hide the fact that have given up on their Mac users. It’s beyond disappointing.

I held off updating my OS, expecting things to be ironed out… but there’s been nothing but silence for months. Not that Yosemete itself is the issue, there are huge problems no matter which Mac OS you run. For me crashes have become completely random and without reason. And I have yet to figure out how we’re supposed to do an in-game report of a crash to desktop, or a crash that forces your entire computer to reboot.

The problem is that you’re using a Mac. I’m not trolling, I have the same issue.

Isn’t it funny how there’s not even a Mac tech support anymore? How there’s no listing of optimal software that we should be updated to in order to have a best possible user experience that’s not 2 years old?

They don’t seem to be supporting us or our “beta” anymore.

Hopefully you figured this out by now, but it doesn’t matter which way you move the gamma slider, the brightness will increase.

Yup. So surprised. We’re still waiting.

For those experiencing this, try opening Activity Monitor, then force quit any instances of GW2 and/or wine server. Then your game should work again… temporarily… at least until it happens again. Good luck.

Great that this worked for you. But seriously, wtf. We’re now supposed to have Activity Monitor open all the time just to play GW2? How about you guys fix the problem that’s making mac users jump though hoops to play?

Tried my first world boss tonight (jungle wurm), issue is still there… crashed a few seconds in… processes left running, game won’t restart until I used Activity monitor to force quit GW2 and wine server. Still no fix and it’s mid-October? Really? What’s the hold up?

Yesterday, before the patch, I started crashing in dungeons, my last safe haven in this game. Happened twice in AC. Then, I started getting messages about not connecting to the login server later in the evening. Immediately afterwards I completely froze up in HoW… the game didn’t crash, it just froze… unresponsiveness that wouldn’t resolve for several minutes. I had to force quit to rejoin my party.

This is beyond ridiculous.

The Technical Support responses on this thread have been subpar. I read through things again a few minutes ago, it truly feels like you’re hoping we’ll figure this out on our own and post a fix.

Forget the support tickets, there are more people having problems out there then there are people filing tickets… tickets which may or may not even make it through to you guys to address. And only the most disgruntled and frustrated will ever make it to these boards to complain.

These are not operator errors. Do you seriously expect to have a one-on-one conversation with every single person out there on the Mac client? That’s ridiculous.

It’s been two weeks. Fix it.

Basically we have to open the config file that can be found as follow:
finder > go > hold left alt key > library > application support > guild wars 2>

once you opened the file, change the following:
“VertexShaderHash” and “PixelShaderHash” from 300 to 275
and “MTD3D” from 4 to 1
———

Once I open GW2 in my application support folder, I don’t see anything with those names, let alone anything I can change.

I fall into the group that is not having crash issues relating to the TP.

However, I do experience the previously reported (in multiple threads) “serious error” issues multiple times a day. Everything was fine before the patch and now the game is almost unplayable.

I crash in any remotely large fight. So that means right now: no Tequatl, no Dry Top farming, no World bosses, no Wvw. I used to get around it if a guildie called Target and I fought facing sideways… so that my screen didn’t show the majority of the fight. But that’s not working anymore, and it was a ridiculous solution in the first place.

What’s left? Crafting? I play GW2 for the crafting… said no one, ever.

Game crashes and won’t reopen — have to go to Activity Monitor to quit all GW2 and wine server processes by hand. (A heartfelt thank you to the fellow Mac user who suggested that work around, before I had to restart my computer to get it to work.)

New issues for the past few days.

1. My FPS has started dropping down to single digits. It’s as bad as it was during the Marionette event. This happens in giant battles, but also just roaming around LA when it’s not even that busy. It also happens in dungeons and fractals. Before someone asks, my graphics are already on low. And frankly, I’m tired of walking around and watching everything get redrawn in front of me all the time. Very tired of that generic pink figure that shows up when your graphics are on low.

2. My loading screens are getting messed up. It’s like I arrive at the location, but the loading screen is stuck. I hear the world around me… I also see character and npc names, superimposed over my loading screen, that start repeating over and over… in a little trail across my screen. It’s weird. Sometimes going to another wp will fix it. A few minutes ago that didn’t even work. I had to quit the whole game.

3. Occasionally, for some unknown reason, my graphics become completely messed up, everything turns into giant geometric shapes, obscuring everything around them.

4. I’ve been unable to submit a “support” ticket. The send command is greyed out.

Same issue. Can’t do anything heavy in WvW. Can’t get through Teq. Can’t do any major boss battle. Game crashes and refused to reopen unless I restart or go to Activity Monitor and quit all the processes by hand.

I’ve loaded the latest patch, currently at a BLTP vendor in DR… can’t get currency exchange to open. Spinning yellow wheel.
Gem Store and TP open, but not the currency exchange.

Quietly dealt with the flaky TP issue for the last year.
Lost access last week with everyone else.
The work around posted by staff worked for me and I had a stable TP for the first time ever – for 2 whole days.
Feature patch last night went fine. No issues.
Logged in a few minutes ago, new auto patch and now I’m back to the old flaky TP.
Had to restart the game twice to get past the spinning gold circle that never resolves.

to baby stealing dingo. Don’t reopen the renamed application. Delete the 2nd one, then return it to the original name and open it. It didn’t’ specifically say that in the instructions, but I think the rename was just to differentiate the files and prevent a total rewrite.

Partial fix for me. Gem Store & Currency Exchange worked immediately.
Took 3-4 tries to get Trading Post to load. I’m able to buy & sell things (yay), but I’m having troubles getting things to sort properly in My Transactions. For example, I know I sold things as I’m suddenly sitting on 8 gold, but it says I haven’t sold anything on one try, and the next I get the proper list.

Still, way better than before— and I’m thankful for that— but I don’t get why it took 5 days to post this workaround. Players seriously lost a lot of money not being about to use the TP. Not awesome.

Started for me today, no issues yesterday. Same as panimi described. Random disconnects, can’t stay connected to GW2 for more than maybe 5 -10 minutes, and sometimes after as little as 30 seconds. No pattern. Happens alone in GF with no players around and happens when fighting in LA.

I’ve never had a crash issue like this and I’ve been playing for a little over a year. Truly frustrating. Non-stop crashing for the last 2 hours.

Just started getting this issue for the first time today. No issues at all yesterday, today I’ve been disconnected with that error code at least 15-20 times in the past 2 hours. Doesn’t seem to be connected to game play (happens when fighting in LA, or just standing around, alone, in GF) or characters… has happened on 2 different characters today. On Aurora Glade.

Same issue. But mine have changed from gold to the most obnoxious shade of bright orange. The color of cheetos. It’s truly horrible.

I don’t think we should be required to purchase a kit to fix something we didn’t choose.

So… when will this issue be resolved?
