I’m getting the constant crashes and disconnects as well. The game is almost unplayable for me at times, its so bad. This has been happening since the New Year’s patch for me. It’s especially bad when I’m doing instanced content.
It’s a raid now.
To get gold level rewards you need six different groups (preferably with a Commander in each), that’s small to moderate in size (to avoid massive scaling), AND to defeat the bosses as close to each other as possible (which means that all 6 groups are going to have to make sure to manage their DPS properly). Oh, and of course people need to listen and respond to the commanders as well (or know what they’re doing going into the fight beforehand or teamspeak).
That’s raid level of organization.
It’s frustrating, because you go in not expecting it at all. Yes, you can defeat the bosses without that, but even with 2 commanders on the map, I haven’t been able to get silver level rewards, let alone gold. Yes, its good against the zerg, but if you wanted some nice leveling and farming area, you’re out of luck. Not to mention the lack of loot, which feels really sore.
I don’t mind having more organized content in the game, but I feel like this is going to be like the Tequatl fight; once the majority of people get their cheevs, they’ll abandon the event and only the most organized guilds will do it. It’s going to drive the majority of the playerbase away in the long run.
I know some people are happy, as it means only the most dedicated and skilled will be rewarded, and I’m fine with that. What I’m not fine with is how un-fun the event is if you’re NOT that organized. It’s a slog. It’s tedious. It’s long, The loot is abysmal and the only drops you get are Queen’s Gauntlet tickets or those tokens (which don’t drop a lot).
I just don’t know what Anet was thinking with this design. If they wanted the QP to be a hardcore zone, I with they’d at least have a pop-up explaining it, like with modes in PvP. I’m not happy with it at all. The only good thing I can think of is that there enough variety of events that you don’t have to do the QP if you don’t want to.
TP was working after feature patch, but the most recent update broke it.
I don’t like how she graduated from all three colleges. For an asura, it is an incredibly important decision in his/her life which college to join, since it decides your entire future. And here we have Scarlet, without previous mention whatsoever, being possibly the first and only person to attend and GRADUATE from all three colleges. In record time, even.
If that isn’t Villain Sue, I don’t even
This was the tipping point for me. I was enjoying the instance and the story, but finding out this info, as well as the fact that she’s trained under ALL the other races in Tyria was just too much. She’s this weird mash up of Batman and the Joker and it just doesn’t sit well with me.
The more I think about this the angrier I get because wouldn’t it make sense to have the Watchknights look like the Avatar of Dwayna? Wouldn’t it be a smarter political move for Jennah to tie her reign with one of the six, especially the one that’s the first and tied with leadership and health?
Especially since Dwayna has feathers in her motif, it would’ve matched the Seraph well and the Watchknights wouldn’t look so out of place.
(Posting again because I like to have solutions when I critique something.)Actually, tying her personal guard to the Divines might cause a bit of a hiccup in the peace treaty with the Charr, who are religiously seeking to avoid religion.
That is a good point! Maybe they could just use more of the seraph design into them (winged helm, the design on the chest of serpah armor, etc), more of a valkyrie inspired look that calls back to Dwayna without it being too obvious.

I agree with OP. When I got a good look at the Watchknight designs it immediately threw me out of the game. It’s blatant pandering with the molded butt, abs, and the inclusion of nipples on the design.
From an in game perspective, I can’t imagine that Queen Jennah would have such an overly sexy female robot approved as representing her, and her reign. An asura would marvel at the tech, but scoff at the aesthetic design over practicality. I can see other humans making crude jokes about them. The charr laughing at them for making giant naked versions of humanity’s queen to protect the people. The norn wondering why they aren’t fierce looking, the Sylvari asking why they’re naked, etc.
And for the people calling up Metropolis, yes, I got the reference. I’ve noticed that when there’s a sexy fembot design, this often gets brought up. And you know what? It’s gone from being an homage to an excuse. Yes, Metropolis was a seminal piece of film work, but when its regularly used as the reason for sexy robot ladies, I call BS. That movie came out over 80 years ago, and if designers are ONLY calling back to that one film, when there’s been decades of new and interesting robot designs, you have to wonder why (hint: it rhymes with toobs).
TLDR; Really feeling like Anet dropped the ball and went with cheap sexual thrills for the design.
I’m playing animal crossing, and I decided to remake Zojja’s clothing in game. I can only attach one image at a time, so if you want Zojja’s hat, Snaff’s clothes as well as Kudu’s, head on over here.
I remember there was infographic on the race breakdown, and asura were near the bottom. People like larger characters that they can show off their armor and weapons on more clearly. The exception are the PVP areas, where asura’s small animations make opponents harder to see their skill tells, making them have a slight advantage (I’ve seen that complaint on the WvW and sPVP forums).
I don’t know why they don’t allow Faren’s and Kasmeer’s swimsuits for the humanoid races and another for charr and asura. Like the image I attached, that model has been in the game since Southsun came out, and could be used for both male/female charr and asura. Tweak the texture or something, I’d rather have that than nothing at all.
Then again this could be like Rox and Braham’s weapons that were initially unavailable to players, but you could buy later on.
I made a post about this earlier, and I’m in total agreement.
I don’t know why they couldn’t use a different text, or put in question marks for spoiler achievements, especially since some aren’t even available to complete yet.
I got spoiled by people talking about Zhaitan early on in the game. It’s a risk when interacting with players who may be further along than you.
There’s a difference between players spoiling it and the company doing it. ANet could easily change the text to something else that reflected the item that wasn’t a spoiler.
I just step into southsun cove and someone puts up an item preview for one of the new items. As usual I check it out, and I like it! It’s a little item that looks like a flower on your back. What bothered me was the flavor text ON the item. It completely spoils why the creatures on Southsun are getting so aggressive and who’s doing it. I hadn’t even done any of the events yet and now some of the mystery is gone.
My mind is boggled. I know its the reward for the end of an achievement now, so it makes some sense, but people share codes like that in chat all the time. Something like “Levvi’s gift for helping her out” would’ve worked just fine and not be a spoiler. It’s not a big thing, but its a little spoiler that I had no idea I was walking into on something as simple as a back item.
He’ll be there when you finish your storyline. You’ll see why.
He does? I completed my personal story and went back but he never showed up. I always figured it was a bug. Where is he supposed to be?
However, that being said, there are several excellent revival skills that almost never get used, and maybe now they will be; every class except thief has one, though the Mesmer’s is garbage, and two are elite.
Most of those resurrect spells are broken though. I tried the signet of mercy with my guardian just the other day in a pug group, and it didn’t work. Actually, it did work, but it revived the dead NPC across the room rather than the downed player I was directly next to. This happened several times before I figured out what was happening. Last I checked the glyph wasn’t working properly for eles, but its been awhile since I’ve used it.
I’m actually ok with the new change to WP in combat, but it can’t work unless other parts of the game are fixed (resurrect spells and the stuck in combat bug). They should’ve rolled out al the changes at once rather than piecemeal, as its frustrating.
Another “disturbing” ritual for Asura: Birthing.
I have postulated that they hatch from eggs, but do not lay eggs themselves.
It’s stated on the wiki that they give live birth similar to humans. I can’t even imagine how painful that must be, considering how large progenies heads are.
Path 2 is actually the fastest path for CoE (it has the most skippable mobs and lesser need for co-ordination than the other 2 paths). I’ve got the full Coe armor set, and this is actually one of my favorite dungeons in the game.
Alpha tips:
His circle attack activates 2 seconds after the circles appear. It takes some getting used to, but its completely possible to dodge all his attacks. Dodging and aegis are really the only ways to avoid this attack if you’re up close.
Get people out of crystals ASAP. Alpha will heal if someone is trapped in a crystal, which is why the stacking technique works well.
If you have a guardian in your group, have them spec the shouts “Retreat” and “Hold the Line.” Have them pop “Retreat” right before Alpha does his many circle attack, and that will block it if any member can’t dodge out of the way. If someone does get hit (and isn’t instantly down) use “Hold the Line” for group regen and protection.
Ele’s shouldn’t use any of the big AOE attacks, as this will kill off all the tendrils that he spawns. If anyone goes down, rallying off the tendrils is the fastest/most effective way to get back into the fight.
Everyone should have some form of stun break for this fight for dealing with the crystals. I main a guardian, and sadly none of our skills work on getting us out of the crystals, so spec skills that give boons or can block attacks or give regen. (As a guardian, and switching to scepter/focus while trapped in a crystal is a lifesaver as the block skill for focus still works while you’re trapped).
Also, try searching the dungeon forum on Coe. I remember seeing quite a few good posts on Alpha’s attack patterns and more in depth tips there.
Here you go! I don’t see many asura in the TA set, and fewer in full Celestial. I tend to not use full Celestial dye for it, as the bloom lighting in game goes crazy with it. I use the softer grays (Dust and Fog being my favorites) instead.
Edited to add in a better resolution image.
The only Wintersday event you can do with friends/guildies right now is the Infinarium. That content is pretty much pointless if you’ve already done the previous days or you’re just farming presents.
I was looking forward to a dungeon I could do with guildies, that would maybe shed some more light on Tixx & Toxx (there’s so little story there when it feels like there was meant to be more), just something Wintersday related other than the Infinarium that wasn’t with PUGs or on my own.
I like that ANet took a chance on a new game mode, but it just doesn’t feel like this was implemented well.
Got that same bug with my group as well, with “Defeat Toxx” popping up twice in the sidebar way before the fight with the golem was supposed to happen. We were able to finish the event without any problems other than that.
It’s Toxx, not Tixx who’s evil.
If you talk to Toxx after the event is over, she’ll have a line about “toy liberation.” When you turn the skritt into princess dolls, they’ll say “Giant clanker lied to us!” implying Toxx again. Hang out around the front of the ship long enough, and you’ll hear dialogue from one of the little LAK-Y golems that Toxx was the last one to access the oil machines (the ones that were malfunctioning during the first event).
The whole thing reeks of an AI gone rogue. Maybe Tixx is to blame, but not intentionally, just with a malfunctioning golem hellbent on toy liberation.
Get a mesmer with full condition removal, traited with glamors. I can solo a mob of them if I’m very careful. There’s way too many that spawn though, especially for the lower zones. A half dozen at once is just too many.
I love it! I’m also on Team Bustles, and love that it feels like a winter outfit more than a specifically Santa/Holiday one. I like having the option to put my female asura in more feminine clothes, but I can understand why it might turn some people off. Having the option to choose either the male or the female version couldn’t hurt.
Yes they can! That’s how I got mine, but I think they have the chance from the other present types as well.
I’ve got a 2011 iMac and my GW2 client has been crashing a lot since the last patch. I just tried to do a dungeon and its worse than ever, with the client freezing every 5 minutes or so.
There’s a thread on Guild Wars 2 Guru that has all the armor types in a gallery. I regularly use that when I’m too lazy to go to the PVP locker.
I was running through the personal story on a second character, to see different outcomes and some new missions when I reached the decision to choose how to find the Heart of Orr. On my main I had chosen the norn map option, so for this character I chose the Cathedral of Silence.
When I got there, I was surprised to see my other character’s old krewe! My other character is an asura with the statics storyline, and I was happy to see them (with bigger than ever Shrieksy). What bothered me was that if I had known I could’ve worked again with those characters, I definitely would’ve chosen that option the first time. I would’ve felt more connection to the story, and it’s been a pet peeve of mine that the characters from earlier story missions seem to be left behind. Now I’m left wondering if I could’ve gotten more dialogue options if I had used my first character, and if other story missions were like this; old characters being completely bypassed because of an option.
A part of me wants to know where the story goes (in game) while choosing my options to have total control of my character’s story, but I do like that there can be some fun surprises of not knowing where the journey takes you. Some sort of small hint or icon indicating you would work with past characters form your story line I’d love to see in game. What do you think?
Good ideas, poor execution.
Bugs, bugs, bugs. What’s worse is that not only the one time event being bugged in various parts, but that the patch also bugged out some existing content.
For the final event, I ended up leaving halfway through. Even hearing about the great rewards, I don’t regret it. It was the least amount of fun I’ve had in GW2 since the game started. The mechanics weren’t fun or interesting, it was throwing high damage, high health enemies at you over and over. It was tedious and slow.
Overall, didn’t like it.
Thanks for the update. The event has been frustrating, but I can still see that a lot of good content has been added. Hope you guys can fix the issues.
I’m pretty upset at the bugs too. I knew I wouldn’t make the opening event, and I was fine with that, thinking of all the cool new content that awaited me. Logged in, and found the event chains and even one of the fractals bugged. I’m debating even logging in tomorrow.
you can target and hit the cage door and it will open.
You think I didn’t try that? Neither I, nor my teammates could hit the cage and damage it after the boss died. It was a glitch and I was STUCK.
Also, I’m a guardian, and I tried using the only 2 teleport skills we have (Merciful Intervention and Judge’s Intervention) while targeting my teammates, which didn’t work either. Maybe a class with a real blink out teleport skill would be fine, but I wasn’t and it was frustrating.

Liking:
Story telling (I’m actually interested in the Consortium and what there plans are)
Revisiting those lowbie zones again
Fractals of the Mist is pretty, and the mechanics seem interesting. I had fun figuring out what to do.
Disliking:
Most of the things I like to do being broken by the patch (Bjarl in CoE is bugged and I can’t do my daily path 1 run anymore, harder to find groups for CoE before the patch, harder now but I’m hoping once FoTM dies down people will start running it again)
Fractals of the Mist being broken (I did my first fractal, got stuck in a cage that’s part of a boss fight and received no loot at all. It’s soured me on the entire dungeon and I’m not running it again until its patched)
Broken events/NPCs
Constructive Criticism:
Not part of the patch, but the new dungeon highlights that we really need a better LFG tool, or a separate LFG channel.
Make rewards just automatically go into your inventory like other dungeons for Fractals of the Mist.
Have multiple paths/NPCs that can fulfill a role for an event. Sort of like how for the personal story you can branch off, but there are fixed points. That way you don’t get 3 dozen people standing in one spot waiting for an NPC to spawn, praying they’ll tag them for the event.
Edit: Have a public testing server. Have players sign a non disclosure agreement or something to keep a lid on updates, but it feels like things just need to be tested more before they go live.
Overall I’m actually pretty disappointed in the event so far. Not only can I not do the events because of bugs, I can’t do the dungeons (old because no one wants to run it or new as I’m afraid I won’t get any rewards). I’m tired of zerging in Orr and was looking forward to this. No matter how great the content is, if users can’t play it, its meaningless.

I just did my first fractal run and we got the one where you have to release the giant statue. I got ported into a cage and couldn’t leave once the boss was down. I got no rewards at all, as I couldn’t reach the chest.
Can you please implement it so that as soon as you defeat the fractal the points and goodies automatically go into your bags, like at the end of other dungeons.
About 40 minutes of time down the drain. I’m really disappointed in this whole event so far. I was looking forward to doing the dungeon since most of the other events are broken, and now I’m too scared to try the dungeon again.
Were we in the same group? Yeah, he was walking straight through pillars and wasn’t acting as he usually does. Also had a mesmer with us who was unable to strip off his stability. Had to quit the dungeon.
My guess is it’ll be like when the Mad King Dungeon was introduced; the majority of players will only want to run the new dungeon for a week or two. In that time the other dungeons will suffer for lack of players. After that, depending on how the new dungeon is received and the loot drop quality/quantity, we’ll see if it stays that popular or if it’ll even out to the current dungeon popularity levels. No way of knowing until it comes out.
ANet you just introduced a Sword of Damocles into your game.
I felt it the second I read about Ascended gear. I don’t understand the Legendary “gap” you brought up, as I had been working toward the harder to make mystic forge exotic weapons (Immobulus, Volcanus, Mjolnir). Now, I have no desire to work towards those goals.
Legendary weapons are being upgraded to Ascended gear stat level, so that means one of two things: Ascended level weapons will one day be introduced or Legendary weapons will be the only Ascended tier weapons. So working toward anything less than a Legendary right now is pointless, and I’m not interested in the amount of work it takes to get a Legendary.
I’m now playing this great game knowing that all the time and effort I put into my gear is eventually going to be outdated and I’ll have to do it all over again. I’ve taken a break from the game, and just waiting to see how all this turns out. My gut reaction tells me it won’t end well though.
Hello!
I’m looking for a mature, friendly and casual guild on Sanctum of Rall that’s primarily PVE. I play mainly weekends with a few hours during the weekdays. Right now my main is a level 80 guardian, and I’ve been interested in trying out the dungeons. I’m also working on my crafting (armorsmith/cooking) and working toward 100% world completion.
Thanks!
