1-80 personal story for revenant?

no making a revenant is the exact same as every other character, Anet said it was a small hole in the plot as technically revenants come in HoT but they can’t do anything about it without using a lot of resources

I think masteries are absolutely necessary especially for a game that is different in the MMO Genre with no new levels and gear stats. Masteries are a system that can easily be expanded on for future expansions and also become progression, not grind, as most masteries aren’t required for you to play the game (except for gliding) however as you play you unlock more areas and more content. Maybe I don’t know as much as I have no history in game design or anything like that, but I personally think without masteries/progression Gw2 would suffer

Masteries are separated into Core Tyria and HoT. Some masteries can only be levelled (by experience) in the base maps of gw2 while others (like gliding) only in HoT. When you reach level 80 after HoT releases you have an level bar anymore, it’s replaced by the mastery experience bar, no matter where you are

BW3 Difficulty Nerf [merged]

WARNING: Huge wall of text.
So i know there are already many forums showing sadness towards the nerf for open-world content and HoT story instances. However I either missed or didn’t see any posts specifying some reasons why, so I’m doing this.

First of all, there are some arguments against this:
1. Who cares? Its open-world anyways. : Open-world affects most other aspects of Gw2, which I will go in below. Also, I’m not saying open-world should be extremely difficult like raids, however it shouldn’t be so easy you can not pay attention and stroll through the maps and story.

2. Calm down! This is a beta and they probably know this. No need to bother like this : Whether this is true or not doesn’t matter because there are only 20 days until HoT releases. And this is the LAST beta weekend.

3. Maybe the open-world wasn’t nerfed, rather we got used to the content/got better and we got better tools (elite specs etc) : If this is the case, then Anet needs to consider buffing open-world content as the problem isn’t solved anyways.

Ok now to the reasons. Please add more reasons or feel free to disagree with mine in the comments.

1. A-net’s fear of player frustration as Gw2 is directed (as of now) to a more casual audience is irrelevant : The reason I say this is because the events that are happening right can easily be compared to the Gw2 base game beta. For those who don’t know the content was a lot harder then as well, and Anet nerfed it. Personally I’m not too peeved with that nerf because it was the release of the game. People were bad and didn’t know the mechanics and lower level. However HoT is an EXPANSION, all of the content is level-80 based. By this point people should be SOMEWHAT good at the game. Personally right now running in Queensdale at lv 10 is no different than running in Verdant Brink at lv 80, which is very bad for an MMO.

2. Open-world actually affects other content : What this means is that an easier open-world actually affects the skill level and acceptance of the player-base and even go as far as affecting WvW, raids and masteries. A key reason for this is because open-world shares mechanics and gear with those other parts of Gw2. If players don’t know what they are doing, that just shows the open-world content doesn’t have enough difficulty and mechanics to teach them.

3. Immersion : Gw2 has great lore and great story to it which is mostly explored through personal/HoT story and the open-world (which were both nerfed as far as I’m aware) and perhaps this is one of the reasons they were nerfed, so that everyone could experience the story. Once again, however, since HoT has no level or gear raise everyone playing it, even if the game is casual-based, should have some idea of what they are doing. Would you rather half-pay attention to the open-world or story instances will killing bosses by spamming buttons or actually pay attention to what you are doing, and when you beat a mordrem boss feel like you accomplished something and that mordrem actually had some sort of THREAT, unlike most the current open-world bosses. The second option is much better for immersion and story.

Please delete. Thanks.

And you think veteran players universally like challenge OP? All veterans? Most veterans? Most veterans who happen to post on forums?

I’m a veteran and I think the leveling experience is one of my favorite parts of the new patch.

What levelling experience? Cant talk for new players, but they destroyed the fun i had in levelling alts. Completely. Not only did they ignore veterans, they destroyed one of their methods of fun.

I dont see why people compain. If u think about it, Anet will HAVE to add new gear. Complaining about this is just like complaning about how extocis are OP because they have better stats than rares etc.

Deep Sea Dragon - Does Tyria know?

in Lore

Posted by: Kevoros.2946

Kevoros.2946

I would like to know if Tyria is really aware of the Deep Sea Dragon and they just don’t mention him because he isn’t a direct threat (yet) like the others, or if they simply don’t know about him.

Most of Tyria doesn’t know of the DSD.

Decimus seems to have information, but it was said in an interview with Jeff Grubb to be a topic of debate.

Lore on quaggan, krait, and largos imply that the DSD is in the Unending Ocean and the cause to their retreat into Tyria (at least the cause to krait and largos – quaggans were (mostly) pushed by krait).

The Inquest also seem to know about the DSD – around the Crucible of Eternity dungeon there’s that six-pointed structure, four of which are directly related to an ED. There’s a “Zone Blue (under construction)” with a pool of water in it too. The sixth point is supposedly for the sixth Elder Dragon we know even less about – only the Durmand Priory knows there are six dragons (and seemingly Inquest too), which they learned from jotun history (now, whether they know there are still at least five dragons – that’s unknown).

There’s no direct lore – at least none that was found yet. But two organizations know of six ED – at least.

Perhaps (all speculation here) cause Arenanet has concrete plans for 4 gw2 expansions, each with an elder dragon to defeat.

I really really hope this isn’t the case. Fighting 1 dragon per expansion would just be dull, in my opinion. Especially if the dragon is either at the beginning or the end. I’d rather have the first expansion deal with 2 or 3 Elder Dragons. And if you ask me, that’s highly possible. In GW2, I have found paths leading towards the Crystal Desert/Elon River, Dominion of Winds/Sea of Sorrows, and Maguuma Wastes – along with this, there’s some implications that folks are wanting to tackle Jormag second. This leads me to believe that there are already plans for heading into those four regions (earlier three and Far Shiverpeaks). Primordus is implied via the drying of the Maguuma Jungle’s northern half (becoming the Maguuma Wastes) to be related to that area, so he may have moved there.

Along with this, I believe that tengu and largos are being built up for future playable races (tengu are following a similar route to charr – having a select few interactable with players while the rest aren’t in order to elaborate on their view bit by bit – and largos similar to sylvari – a new race introduced with glimpses at their society before the full view is shown), and that the bandits/White Mantle and Joko are going to be involved with the Maguuma and Desert respectively as well. There’s also Malyck from the sylvari storyline giving implications of going further west (into the Magus Falls).

I think every expansion they will kill 1 more, maybe another one or release a peek/champ[ion of another, but at the same time work towards their other ideas slowly in the expansions,so after all the dragons the expansion of the new threats etc wont be so rushed.

Why are dragons evil?

in Lore

Posted by: Kevoros.2946

Kevoros.2946

There need not be a “good” and “evil” side to have conflict. You don’t have to consider a lion evil for trying to kill you for his supper, but that doesn’t mean you should just lay down and let him. Same applies to dragons and karka.

It would be nice if these conflicts could be resolved peaceably, but sometimes, this simply isn’t an option.

Correct. Also, dragons are like natural disasters and they arent the intelligent ones. They just corrupt and want to get their way, just like the rest of us. Their champions do the thinking.

How did the 6 ancient races fail?

in Lore

Kevoros.2946

Knowing now that Zhatitan is dead (shards of zhaitan dungeon arah item says so) that means the history of the dragons sleeping and reviing is according to that shard, broken. Or it might have been that dragons did die and new ones rose. So…. first of all.. how did the anceint races fail? Even with current technologie, isnt it a bit dumb to think that 10 people could kill an elder dragon and pretty much his whole army, even with technology, that 6 ancient races could not kill 5? the 10 people with technology should still be weaker than ONE of the ancient races, and after zhaitan started corrupting, wouldnt it ‘evolve’ to get stronger? Otherwise how did it survive teohr ones when technology was still advancing? Going back to the theory that new dragons rose.. how is that possible? Arent the dragons old races of destruction. How are elder dragons created anyways. Zhatian was a mixture of dragons, was he concidentially created? tehre must be very dark magic to creat such a thing. No understading here.

Any thoughts?

I believe the Charr-dungeon is actually taking place a few minutes before the Foefire. Dessas reaction after killing the boss does imply that it is about to happen.

As for the Raving Asura I think that might be the “future self” from the Asura Personal Quest (the one responsible for the Steam Creatures)

Sorrry my mistake for teh charr i just wanted to get this out quickly and see what other people think. As for the asura the one responsible was indeed ‘you’, but you defeated him and also you did not act to evil in the future. Even if you did not choose that story line, it is proven that all the stories still exist but someone eelse goes through them. So thats my opinion idk

THIS IS A CONTINUATION OF PART 1
Just wanted to share the lores of the mini dungeons in fractals and ask for ideas. First of all, it is known that the events you go through have eitehr happened in history or are going to happen. And they dont have to be in tyria. You enter the fractals with the help of an asura named Dessa, where you meet in her lab due to a malfunctioning asura gate that was suppose to lead to to a paradise. Alright. Lets get into it. BTW if i make any mistakes, please do correct me. Also, some extra information. Dessa seems to be outdated on what is hapening to the outside world, because she doesnt know what a sylvari is, but knows that lions arch has been remade by pirates.

Dungeon 3- Swamp with annoying wisps. After putting all 3 wisps into places while being chased by ‘godzilla’ and loads of things while mossman continually harrasses you, u take a path and this is where it gets weird. I was in a party with randoms and our leader was explaining that out final battle was against mossman, and he revealed all his abilities etc. Maybe this was for level scaling (but they all played on lv 1) but instead of mossman, an oakheart appeared, forgot his name… starts with B i think. it summoned sun spirits and was far easier. why did this happen? is mossman somehow related to that oakheart? now onto mossman. He is obviusly a norn due to his shapeshifting abilities and shize, and appears to be a jungle crazed man, maybe he was lost or somthing and habitated to the jungle as a madman. He also seems to have both theif and ranger abilities. Anyone have any ideas what he might be etc?

Dungeon 4 – Colossus. this has raised many many questions. First of all, no signs of colosi like living monsters that have a statue-like surface seem to be in tyria, as of now at least. And he seemed to be trapped b seperatists, which deny the truce very much like renegeades, between charr and human. But rumours spread that the collosus could be from Cantha or Elona or whatnot. Why would the seperatist have the colosus? Was it to be used as a wepon for them or agaisnt them? And the elder dragons havent had that much affect on other lands, so maybe a truce isnt even formed tehre. How did the seperatists make it tehre, epsecially due to the fact that tyria has very minimal communication with other lands. Of course it could be anotehr group called the seperatists or they might have other ambitions, and maybe of course it could be in tyria after all, just camouflaged as a mountain or whatnot. So why is the seperatist taking the colossus and where could they be hiding it if it is in tyria? And if its not in tyria, is this the same seperatist that denies teh truce, which might not have happened in the other lands? Is the collosus a offensive monster or passive? Is it a wep used against or for the seperatists? QUESTOINSSS AHHH!

Any ideas?

First dungeon – One where you take ascalon. In this dungeon you are turned into a flame legion charr and have to go through WvW like events to take over ascalon. This is obviusly a tyrian event, which happeneed in the past.

Next – Raving Asura. You seem to be teleported to the future of rata sum, and you do a jumping puzzle up to a raving asura (seems to have gone mad). During this time, Dessas seems worried and excuses herself elswhere. When you defeat what the raving asura throws at you, he says you cant be real, because everyone is gone then carries off. Could the asura be related to Dessa in any way? Appparently there was a relationship between 2 asuras, though i think its not them, but could it be that the raving asura was a friend or closer than to dessa, and in the future something horrible in their research happened causing everyone except for him to die?

Any thoughts guys?

Im pretty sure the colossus isnt Tyrian, and also why did the speratists have him? thats my main question. Since they hated the truce, did they want to use it against anyone? Or prevent it from harming them or whatnot? and also, if the colossus isnt tyrian, then there might not be a truce in for example cantha, cause dragons havent affected them as much. So how did seperatists even get there, especially since communication to those lands are minimal.

Champions classification

having names like karka hivemother would indeed be great, but then again Hsinimod is right, and if champions that arent part of the elder dragons have changed names, then they would kind of be like for example the anceint karka or the shaterer whihc arent classified, so i think they still might need a classification like veteran if they are going to change it

Well, we are familiar with the normal>vet>champ rank for one, but yeah it’s quite lame to make it generic.

If Champion Karka was instead named Karkan Hivemother, for example, that would make it much much more unique.

indeed that would be great

Just wanted to talk about how Anet uses the term champions. I could be wrong, but i think the classification of champions are officers of elder dragons, higher than grunts but not the highest. But using the karka race as a clear example, they are known not to be controlled by any elder dragon, and is somewhat like other races like hylek. Yet in the south cove there are still champion karka. There are many more examples elsewhere too.

Im not sayin this is a bad thing, and i am quite used to the ‘champion in the front of names’ and i automatically know that it is just a mob that is somewhat stronger, and not a officier of an elder dragon. I dont know if they should come up with another classifying name that will be like the veterans which fit both, or if Anet wanted champions just to be strong mobs and not officers of the dragons.

Any ideas?
