Condition damage miss understood

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Thank you for your post and the honesty with which you wrote it, but your research is incorrect. All the bleed experiment shows is the fact that both you and your friend kept up about HALF of the stacks and stabilized their DPS around that.

Condition damage remains as it always was.
I’d also like to point out that your analogy between vulnerability and bleeding is incorrect. The effects of vulnerability are only shown when another damage source is applied (let’s say a longbow shot), whereas bleeding ticks for damage without any further attacks.

The niche mechanic of an elementalist is the fact that they have four times as much abilities and as such are extremely versatile. It’s the inherent trait of elementalists. It’s also the reason why camping one attunement seldomly works.

“I bought a ceramic soupcup the day before they released new porcelain soupcups, now I deserve to get paid back my ceramic soupcup.” This is incorrect. If you bought the ceramic cup you clearly liked it, the release of porcelain cups does not change your ceramic cup.

Not a great analogy. Almost every store today has a return policy. You can like your ceramic cup the day before and still return/exchange it for the porcelain cup the next day. =P

Mind you, I don’t think a refund is entitled here, but I do agree in essence that ANet could really improve in the customer relations department.

I will give you that one, indeed my analogy is flawed. But what if there are some stains in the cup that you can’t get out anymore? =P

Anyways, ArenaNet DOES need some work in the HR department. I’ve seen them pull marvelous stunts though (think about Clockwork Chaos and the clocks and poems + their “autovandalising”.)

(the maze is a preparation for Slick and Sparki, the generators for Clockheart… this is great design.)

UUUUUGH I didn’t even realize the maze was built to prepare you for those bosses. I’m geeking out about how nice this game design is right now.

Quite interesting isn’kitten It’s a way of teaching things without having to wave a big red banner with “PRESS A HERE”. It’s more subtle ^^

The bosses are indeed very squishie, my tip: kick your cleric guard (they got no business in a dungeon) and 1 max condition build per team. -)

I agree that the rewards are terrible and will make this dungeon a forgotten place once we get all the achievements.

I disagree about the time, I think once ppl learn the tactics the encounter can be done in 20-25 minutes.

Don’t kick the cleric guardian, roll with what you enjoy. Personally I have a condi guardian which works out perfectly, even though people say it doesn’t.

Eh, I found the dungeon pretty fun. The mechanics weren’t horribly difficult to figure out if you just the descriptions of the mobs.

Funny that. Never on Sparki and Slick did it say “Make sure to kite the oozes into the oil and don’t kill them, or poison fumes kill you no matter where you are”.

I would say best dungeon in a while. Harder content is what we’ve been asking for. How do you think every other dungeon was figured out? By trial and error.

Who’s this “we” you’re referring to? I don’t recall asking for harder content, nor did some of the other posters I’ve been seeing here.

There’s a trend with Guild Wars 2 players that they just want stuff handed to them then complain when they can’t beat it on their first attempt. Reading guides or watching videos takes a lot away from learning how to do stuff on your own.

No, I want content that’s actually FUN to do. Wasting time kiting oozes to a bunch of gears while fending off a horde of Lava Elementals while also not letting the oozes hit you (or you’re down in 2 hits) is not fun.

Neither is a duo of bosses whose only real hard part is having toxic fumes do all the work for them and have ridiculous amounts of health.

At this rate, I’ll have to read a guide or watch a video to see if it’s even worth it. I mainly wanted to just help Caithe hopefully kill Scarlet this time, but thanks to another dungeon path with awful gimmicks, I won’t even get to see that myself.

Worst dungeon yet. Worst fight since Frizz. They’ve learned nothing.

If you don’t think this dungeon is fun, do something else, it’s as simple as that. Meanwhile I’m having loads of fun in it with my friends and am planning another run on Friday. Spent 4 hours in there and had massive fun, trying to figure out how the bosses worked with no help. If you want to steamroll stuff, do CoF.

Best dungeon yet, with the best fight since lupi. You’re just too lazy to learn it.

Sincerely,
Fenrir Dragonbone

An interesting post however I do not agree on either points. The bosses don’t have lot’s of health and in fact when you do it properly, they are quite squishy. (especially compared with HotW). I would also like to point out that this is a PERMANENT dungeon, not a minigame (like liadri/SAB) and as such should give RNG loot. It also shouldn’t be more profitable than other dungeons, just equally. You also cannot judge the rewards from less than 50 runs.

I’m all or specialised loot (certain iconic weapons from certain bosses) but that should not have the averse effect that people keep running a certain dungeon over and over just for a weapon skin. The way the game is set up regarding that fact is good.

This dungeon gives just the same rewards as any other dungeon, which is the way it should be.

If zhaitan died how did Tequatl evolve?

in Tequatl Rising

Gw2 devs turned the dragons in to a ‘Mass effect 3 ending’-mess. (TL:DR Mass effect was one of the best stories ever and they turned what should have been the most exciting end ever in a total anti-climax).

Dragons (dev speaking): ‘they are a force of nature, they are not alive/dead’. They can only be controlled a bit. Wich is silly to be honest. I mean they are destroying everything in their path and are not evil (anet own words, dragons are not evil). Anybody who can control his action to not destroy stuff, but yet does it = evil. Thus dragons are. Period. And instead of an actually exciting ‘kill’, we just defeated him to come back in a few years. Mass effect 3 all over.

Or ‘Wheel of Time’ book. Every 3k years or so, the evil ones come back and he has to be exactly defeated again in the same way and there no thing to stop this 3k year cycle… Best story ever. Not.

Actually it is a very good story mechanism to make the characters not feel all-powerful. And I do not think the elder dragons are evil, they simply retain the balance. Is a flood evil? Is death evil?… “Evil” is an interesting philosophical concept anyways. I sincerely hope that upon the defeat of the elder dragons (if that ever happens) Tyria goes to **** because of the rampant magic and the lack of a balancing factor.

In all honesty, I think the death of big Z allowed Tequatl to gain power. NPC’s in Fireheart Rise make it clear that for example upon the death of the shatterer, another champion takes on this mantle and gains the power. As such I think it’s quite possible that Tequatl absorbed much of the power left behind by Zhaitan when big ol’ ugly died.

Dear humans, norn, asura, sylvari and charr,

Is there any legal way to go into first person mode? I would really like a lot of first person screenshots, but the only program I can find (which I won’t call by name here) allows you to zoom out too, which could give an advantage in PvP and as such is illegal.
There are so many gorgeous environments I’d love to capture, but my character always clogs up the middle of the screen. Any suggestions?

It is undeniably a loss of money, but this item is not ment to be used for profit. It essentially saves you space and whites and salavageables are best salvaged with this. Right now, i’m running around with 5 fine salvage kits and 1 mystic salvage kit in my inventory and I do consider buying this to make my inventory less cluttery.

Next gw2 Expansion Class?

I am of the opinion that introducing a new class is a bad idea though. The more classes you add, the harder it gets to balance and this is an exponential movement.

As for a class I would like a ritualist/dervish crossbreed (we can’t have pure dervishes anymore, seeing as their main concept of faith only refers to the human gods) but please, no scythes.

As for a race I can’t help to want to play Hylek.

Now that "everyone" has access to portals

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Khaz.3165

Khaz.3165

Interesting of you to bring this up, but I can’t agree with you.

In order to keep the game interesting I am of the opinion that not all classes should get the same benefits as other do. A such, I do not see a problem with mesmers lacking a movement speed buff. I play all classes and I don’t think there should be equal footing for all of them, and if you’d want a fast class then you shouldn’t pick the slow one. If you don’t want a class that has to stay in melee to deal a lot of damage, then pick another one.

Essentialy we require imbalance on some parts to keep the game interesting. Now you might bring up the fact that every class has access to the portals (which you do, seeing as it is in the title), but the sole reason of that is the fact that the portals are oftentimes required. It is never a good idea to give something like that to one class only, because the class will be seen as a necessity and sometimes the ability will define the class, which is arguably even worse. (Vending machine mages in WoW old times)
The ability for every profession to use the portal is a good one (even though other professions do need to put more effort in it), this should not be a crutch for any changes.

Sincerely,
Khaz
