Am I missing something or is Fine Crafting Material difficult to obtain. Which encourages farming which is not really fun. Unless the market is intended to eliminate that at which you still need to farm for gold.

The original post was about the lack of speed allowed in the game. Missing parts of an event. First I think that if its just speed then patience is the greatest solution. Those who play games should work on their want everything right now attitude. Now onto the missing parts of event I think they will soon be resolved when the events are fixed you can find out what time they will be happening and make sure you are there.

I want to play for the "bad" side sometimes

Didn’t you know there is no victory when being the bad guy. Just imagine if you could help koopa capture the princess and defeat mario. Then what? Would you feel like you won? For me its just not nearly as satisfactory as a story of heroism. Helping those from the bad guys that just want to oppress and destroy.

I have noticed that most people think there is not enough people playing on low population maps for this megaserver plan to work. First of all we should consider that we don’t have the numbers and that A.net does and I personally don’t think they would be even attempting something like this if the numbers were as bad as exaggerated here

Keep increasing that difficulty.

The game in my opinion has a good combat design and has a lot of potential. It just needs to be harder in many areas. I understand the starting areas should be easy to help people learn without dying constantly, but mid to later areas should be full of fear.. that cave over there do I really want to go in there? should be in the back of my head. Long battles are not necessarily bad, increased enemy hp is a decent way to make challenges more difficult, but just be careful, too much hp makes it boring and redundant. The HP has to match the emphasis of the boss. If it is suppose to be a major battle and a major boss then yeah it should not die in 20 seconds no matter how skilled the player or players are. I know they mentioned they are wanting to make earlier areas harder so I believe they are working on my biggest disapointment with the game. Just make the game more exciting with the threat of dying, not the punishment of death.

A dungeon should be able to be pugged, if you have players who are experienced and know the dungeon of course it should be possible to complete in a pug full of experienced players. Maybe the dungeons should be harder, if it is truly very easy for the most experienced players I can see how that would be lacking.

As for loot, I don’t know what to say. I agree with anets goal of not making more powerful loot only accessible to the best players. But how to make it interesting if it is not more powerful? Any ideas?

Are there really that many problems with this game to so many? I think this game is great I have been enjoying every bit. Some parts I got frustrated in, but after a few tries I got better and it was fun. Try to give encouraging feedback and examples of what you feel would make it better and why. None of this “This game is so bad, easy, boring, no skill required, just mindlessly click on bosses and watch their health bar go down so slow”

These are all good points and I think that in the future many will be improved. But in the meantime I think we should step back and have a different perspective.

When I am in a dungeon I feel that the bosses are actually trying to do the most hurtful thing to our team, I think this is very good. I don’t want a boss to take the bait like the trinity. A boss should be able to determine okay who is hurting me most and who has low armor and will die fast and who is trying to revive or is low on life. I want the boss to attempt to attack those targets and its the rest of the teams job to change his mind or slow him or something. Knockbacks are a good example, you can use those to save yourself and team mates.

I think the best way to increase difficulty in this game is element of surprise, that is more fun than powerful abilities or 20 minutes of life. Giving bosses abilities that root and then they charge the person they rooted, or going invisible or jumping up and landing on someone.. the ideas can keep going, but they need to do something that creates confusion.

Can someone name some of these bosses?

Instant death abilities are fine if they are avoidable, no game is fun if you have a percent chance to die no matter what. But if a boss is about to use one of these abilities try to make the warning very clear. I have heard that many bosses charging up is not very clear and I think that if I am about to die from one hit I think its only right I am clearly warned so I have a time to react. I don’t want to put my head at the screen trying so hard to look at a small change on the boss mixed in with all the other effects.

Okay I have heard many complaints, many negative words and its not good. Why are the forums here so we can vent our frustrations? No. If you don’t like something about the game, describe why, in detail and even better yet make suggestions on how to fix it. Thats what forums are about for a.net to read, examine and learn what their players want. Remember everything anyone here says is an opinion, and no opinion is better than others, whether majority or minority.

I have only done AC so far but I think its great. It was very hard the first time through cause of all the unknown challenges, but after completing it my 3rd time its actually quite easy. I think that makes for a fun game, one that is challenging at first, but has a solution that makes it much easier. It gives me the feel of improving.

There is nothing wrong with trinity games, its a different style and might even fit someone elses preference more than this game and vice-versa. You either like the challenge in this game or you don’t and if you are a reward player, well I hope they can find a solution that makes you happy. I myself don’t need a good reward to enjoy a challenging dungeon. The reward of completion is quite satisfying.

I don’t think the game feels wrong, it doesn’t work like a lot of previously created mmo’s, so possibly opening your mind to how this one is different will help you figure out what needs to be done, and will give you a better feel in the dungeons. Also make sure you have a team that communicates well and try to work out solutions even if it means you need to use a different weapon, or utility etc..

So I attempted my first dungeon (AC)

I have only done AC so far too, me and my friends wait for times that we all have off so it takes a while for that to happen.

We were so excited to try the first dungeon and we got wiped many times. throughout the dungeon we all thought that it was too hard and very frustrating and even discouraged to try another. However we did finish it and now that I have had time to think about it I feel that the difficulty at least makes the dungeons kind of intimidating. Next time we go do one me and my friends need to be very serious with a strong plan, we went in the first one thinking we could just do whatever we want, even one of us kept initiating fights when the rest of the team wasn’t ready. So I am sure our inexperience and lack of organizing was our downfall. I think that like so many here have said after I play it a few times it will actually start to feel much easier.

The biggest problems we all have is our perspective, a challenge sometimes makes us feel like not good players, so we like it to be easier so we can feel that we played well. Those who like a challenge think its great, because they keep trying until they feel they have improved and overcame a great and difficult obstacle.

I think part of the problem lies in HotW itself. The story mode is probably harder than all three explore modes put together. That last boss…. yikes…..

I think story mode should provide enough tokens that with 1-2 runs you could pick up a rare item from the token vendor instead of the exotics.

Yeah the story mode should definitely be the easier ones, nothing that makes an expert player panic at the thought of doing one. I mean still challenging but tune it down a few notches and up the notch on the free explore mode. But the explore modes should be more rewarding or at least equally rewarding, cause after all the only reason people would do those is purely for the rewards.

It may sound silly, ,but giving players who have already completed a dungeon a worthwhile reward when they are playing with players who have not completed a dungeon, making the reward scale the more players they play with who have not completed a dungeon. so playing with 1 new to the dungeon player would be 2x the reward? and 2 would be 3x etc…

When me and my friends went through ascalonian catacombs, only one of us was able to see the video/cinematic. Through the whole dungeon even till the end we would see the video/cinematic icon over his head and none of us could view it we just had to wait for him to finish watching it. It was all of our first times through that dungeon.

My goodness people, just be happy that this company has already made a great game and is trying their best to make it even more enjoyable for everyone, and be patient. Of course they intend to resolve any problems just give them time. Just say what you feel they might should look at , but don’t sound like you are in despair lol.

Tweaks to the PVP will be ongoing they already said they need time to crunch the numbers and make it more balanced and fun.
PVE on the other hand is good as it stands, the best that I have played and even better cause no monthly fee. I only want to see one addition in any expansion, more adventure type quests, right now the personal story is the only adventure type quests. And they are good. But I want to find quests around the map that are similar, even personal instanced areas is good for me. I don’t want to sound greedy, but I want it all, the events, skill challenges, vistas, more personal quests, the heart objectives (not sure what they are called) and dungeons. All are a lot of fun just more content later on, not anytime soon, but would make the game better for players like me who just like to adventure.
