Take Focus (swiftness), and that’s it. We’re one of the slowest classes and this is one of the only ways you can get speed as Mesmer, and, for me at least, speed is the best thing at PvE.

Oh for crying out loud… The game is probably one of the most difficult MMOs out there. Everyone I’ve played the game with who has played multiple MMOs like WoW, FF, Tera, Rift, SWG, TOR, all talked about how much harder this game is. People boasting about how they can solo everything & it’s so easy are full of it.
GW1 was harder in 1 way: if you didn’t have the correct build it was impossible. If you did, it was cake. I agree there is less risk, in that you only pay for repairs, but that is how you calculate difficulty? pff..
& Tequatl? You’re complaining that it became easy once you figured out the pattern? That’s 90% of the stuff people consider “super epic hard”. Sorry, but comparing stuff to other MMOs, Guild Wars 2 is not easy.
You made me laugh. Your friends doesn’t really understand about games. How come GW2 is more difficult than WoW? I mean, WoW! (got the joke?)
To start with: you know how complicated are WoW builds? And you also know how easy are GW2 PvE builds? Sadly the “rush power get zerker” is implanted. You realized even some engineers and necromancers are going power?
Honestly, I’ve came from a MMO called DDO that in a raid of 12, if one guy does a mistake, everyone else is dead and they have to restart the whole raid because you can’t revive or get in again (say Ascension Chamber raid, for instance). So that IS a considerable factor to calculate difficulty.
Come on dude. I know GW2 fanboys really want to defend their game, but don’t defend it’s “hardness”, because it isn’t. (I can say that I’m a fanboy too, but I’m flexible, learn to be too)
Edit: sorry for double post, didn’t noticed. :>

OP, you seem to only mention PvE…
At least for me, the problems with PvE only games, or also single player games are:
- Once a goal or a set of goals has been achieved there’s not much left to do. Whatever the goal might be (getting some ultimate weapon, getting a secret ending/character).
- If it’s say an RTS/MOBA game against bots, you can only raise your skill cap so high with just bots. Also at a certain point you will know exactly what the bots will do.
- Raids (referencing WoW) are just heavily mechanically and require slight awareness (don’t stand in red burning kitten/remember to hit the button). Only fun for me was learning/experiencing the fights the first few times… and thats it, onto achieving my goal.
- Overall, if you invest enough time, it will become easy to you… usually there’s some sort of cap on how hard a game is… eventually you will reach and exceed that cap.The main remedy for the things above is finding friends to play with. WvW and WoW-raids are nice in these respect, find a guild, stick around and do stuff, listen to jokes and arguments on vent… so on…
If you want a challenge, if you want something relatively new every time, you need to play against other players. The reason is simple, every single person will function/do things differently than someone else. Although you might get bored from say sPvP because you played it too long (burned yourself out) or find it easy after a while (reaching a point where you can roughly predict other people’s actions (that’s on top of the basic stuff that keeps you alive)), you shouldn’t be bored or find it easy for a good while trying to learn how to PvP…
Saying that the game is easy because of so and so, simply means you reach some sort of a skill cap/barrier and are probably bored…
In this case, this thread is about difficulty, not PvE game problems. About the paragraph you really talked that GW2 difficulty was in PvP and WvW, we can say that about every game, some people surpass bots’ skills and make to face them a kittenallenging, but, again, we are talking about GW2 difficulty, PvP/WvW isn’t much about GW2 since we fight against other players, not really “against GW2”, so we can say that to every game that has PvP included.

PS: Is this a discussion about Ranger being good/bad or what?
Guys, he is totally right about saying GW2 is too easy. Talking about PvE, sometimes I click 1 (auto-attack) then move out, then come back and the enemy is dead, I mean, really? I’m not experienced in GW since I never tried it, but I’ve tried many other games that are much harder than this. You can get everything from every dungeon, so there is no reason going in Arah, for example, or harder dungeons, especially because most of your gear can be bought (materials included), and not acquired, which is very sad.
If you do dungeons with someone who actually listens, dungeons are also easy as cake. Fractals is the only hard thing in the game I can remember right now, but does it matter? You die, you revive at the waypoint, repair your gear and get back to fight and you haven’t lost nothing, only repair money.
If GW2 has such a good community like everyone says, they would know how to listen to opinions that would only improve their game, not make a serious post into a ranger discussion. Please guys, what makes me play GW2 is because I trust ANet will improve it to match everyone’s likes, so at least help people who are trying to change the game to better.

Ok, thanks for answering, so I can go berserker staff? I thought it was a condition weapon just like scepter.
Member of Kaineng
So that means I can go a staff berserker build? I didn’t knew it worked, I thought that staff was the ‘’condition weapon’’ of the mesmer, just like scepter.
Member of Kaineng
What means ZvZ and GvG? x.x’
Member of Kaineng
Nuuu, I’ve seen shatter builds before, with greatsword, they can work with staff? Also, shouldn’t ANet buffs condition mesmers?

Hello guys.
Sooooo, you know that class that you want to do once you see the available classes of a MMO? Ok, that happened to me with mesmer. Ok, grab this information.
Anyways, I know staff is a defensive weapon and such. It’s my favorite mesmer weapon, and it was the weapon that I had in mind when making a mesmer (put that information here). I’m currently running a Lvl 80 mesmer and I really wanted a staff build that involves DPS, for PvE and WvW. I wanted something that could keep up with greatsword mesmers power (I hate them).
Thanks. (:
Member of Kaineng
So you can use crafting for up to 80? How much that will cost?
Member of Kaineng
Hey guys, so, I level really slow, I mean REALLY SLOW and I was wondering what is the fastest way for leveling, a friend of mine said that exploring without doing the events seem to be a fast way. Also, should I go for low level areas so I do it easily or try to do level higher areas?
Basically discussing the best way to get XP.
Thanks.
Member of Kaineng
I see, you basically do what you want and find funny. So you do dungeons to gear yourself and alts? Hm. What you get from daily? Who are those three dragons?
Member of Kaineng
So, quick question: what you do once you’re 80? Dungeons, WvW and PvP?
Also, why would you do dungeons if you are Lvl 80?
Thanks (:

Yes, I know I can buy gems with gold, but does it matter? You still have to pay a lot and cost a lot of time aswell for one character slot, that in my opinion should be free for a pay to play game. More character slots isn’t something that you should fight or spend a lot of time to get it (that is what I meant).
(copying and pasting because I got bored of typing the same thing)

Those are different things, character slots are needed, Digital Deluxe isn’t. Come on, you can see my point. Digital Deluxe is useless and it’s totally something that can help, but not necessary. There are some kind of players that want to test and try a lot of things, it really restricts your gameplay. More character slots isn’t something that you should fight or spend a lot of time to get it (that is what I meant).
And yes, I noticed your name change.

Thanks! That is what I wanted to know. An overall summary of all classes. You really helped me. I got interested in elementalist, necromancer and thief. I might try an elementalist.

Redekitten
liked your answer because it said more than ‘’you can buy Gems with in-game gold’‘, but still, you people need to realize that it isn’t right, it’s something that should be free or at least having more than 5. Come on. We bought this game for a high price.
Kal Spiro
What do you mean?
Member of Kaineng
Come on Arena Net, we bought the game already, can’t you just give us more than 5 character slots? Like for real? There are free to play games out there that gives 12 slots. And we talking about a pay to play game.
Don’t come saying that you can buy them from the in game store for 800 gems, you need to use real money for that, and that was supposed to be a personal choice, because we already bought this and it wasn’t that cheap. Learn to make your fans happy and give us at least a total of 8 character slots.
Thanks for the attention.

I see. Thanks for answering, general questions are gone. I just need answers to those classes questions now. As I said, in general, I know what those classes do.
Also, I don’t know much about WvW besides that it’s (as the name says) a server vs server big battle.
What do you mean by AR is rebuilding? e-e
Member of Kaineng
Hello guys, I’m Kogam from Anvil Rock world, I recently bought Guild Wars 2 and got a guardian up to 22 and a mesmer up to 21. That means I’m noob, yeah. :v
I want to make a character that fits my style (that doesn’t means I disliked them, I just want to try something new, or maybe learn them). Guild Wars 2 wiki and in game information wasn’t enough, as I want information about play-style and late game information, I know basically what they do (necromancer summons the dead and those things).
I grouped my questions in this topic. Feel free to answer one if you feel you are confident to talk about that class/question. I grouped my questions in this topic.
General:
- So, how much races influences in the character? Do I need to choose a race that fits better for my class/build?
- I’ve heard all classes can self heal, DPS and so, that means there are no roles in the game?
- Charm, dignity and ferocity influences in something?
- Basic attacks (1) from classes that are supposed to do damage from spells, like elementalists and necromancers, do the same damage as classes that are supposed to do damage with basic attacks?
Classes:
- Elementalist
Ok, all I know is that it’s a good class for AoE, they basically can control the fighting field with their spells, there are something called combos. So they do good damage but they are squishy, right? How they are late game? Is it hard?
- Warrior
They can do DPS and tank, right? If yes, their tank can compare to guardian tank? Maybe they are a heavy DPS? Something tanky/DPS at the same time? :P
- Guardian
Ok, so guardian involves tank/support/DPS/mage? They are good for soloing aswell?
- Engineer
It’s a class I really liked and I wanted to make, I tried one but I was really bad at it, I had no damage at all. But I know it’s a class that have potential. Weapon kits can compare to normal weapons in terms of strenght? Would you use bomb kit if there are rifles/double pistols? Maybe weapon kits are a matter of
- Ranger
I tried one aswell and she was ok. I really liked the bleeding from shortbow so I focused on condition. What is the best weapon? Or it comes more to my like?
- Necromancer
Another class I liked, their damage is based on summons? Conditions? On description says they can heal others, they can be support? Also, someone said to me that they are the best PvE class in terms of damage/survival, is this right?
- Thief
Is thief the best DPS class such as they are in other games? I really liked the traps frmo ranger/thief, I can make a build focusing on them or it would be weak?
- Mesmer
I have got one to Lvl 21, as I said, but I don’t understand much about it. Their damage is based on what? Shattering illusions? Is that what makes them a scholar? Because I use a lot of basic attack to be a scholar. Their basic attack does damage as good as melee classes? How I can use spells like Blink and Portal Entre? I’ve seen many of their abilities give their allies boons and their enemies conditions, so their damage is based on condition? Their spells doesn’t do damage, but they are still rated as a scholar/mage, I wanted to know about this, because for me they seem more like a adventurer.
Sorry if I made a mistake. My english is kinda bad. But anyways, I hope you guys can answers some questions. Thanks! ^-^’
PS: if you are from Anvil Rock, I wanted to have some friends because I know no one and it sucks playing alone (deh feels) i-i i-i
