Not sure if this has been posted before but, given the fact that dyes are addictive, it likely has. ( Search Feature ain’t working for me, sorry!)
To the topic at hand. We all love dyes. Sometime we make a character that we like early on and get a cool dye, like Abyss.
We think, “Hey, this dye looks awesome, so I’ll use it.” and then we do. Problem is, as the character gets higher level, we start to think, “This guy blows and I hate this class due to – Insert random unrelated issue here- But I can’t!”
Why, you wonder? Because he has a dye that is either, really cool and expensive, or , really cool and cannot be obtained anymore without a stupidly high cost. So he keeps that character because he feels… for lack of my brain thinking of a better term, Pigeonholed into it.
Thus, my idea, that someone else might already have thought of, or Anet is holding it to make bricks come out of dark places later, is the Dye Return Kit ( Name a work in Progress)
Like the Transmutation stones/crystals, this item would be available on the gem store for a modest fee, or from map exploration/WvW/Dailys, Etc. You would be able to buy it in singles, fives, tens, etc.
It would be a single use item that would allow you to return a used dye back into its’ unused state. At which point, IF Anet feared BLT prices going wacky, would be Account Bound. Preferably, though, it would not be bound at all. Much like the Original bottle was.
That way, if we so chose, we could sell it back to make a larger profit ( F&F Dyes) or we’d be able to send it to someone as a present, Or just send it to an alt ( Which is my main concern here).
I personally love this idea ( Or I wouldn’t have posted it), but would love any feed back on flaws I may have missed, or ways to improve/make Anet more likely to introduce this type of item.
