As in many games, when 4-5 months have past after release, the player that has been playing 8-10 hours a day, every day, knows far more about the experience the game offers and the possibilities that the game has than the developers.

This is always hard to accept by the creators of the game.

I agree with the above post about pride.

What they need to do is understand that their original intentions towards e-sport sPvP failed completly.

However they are lucky enough to not have any other mass combat mmo to compete against them. And although much of this community quitted GW2 in the first 5 months (after getting permanently ignored), there still is the possibility of exploiting this market.

This is what they fail to see. That under the sinking ship of eport spvp there is salvation boat of competitive RvRvR and mass combat.

That does not discard that a better system could reward points depending on the number of players on the maps at a given time.

Well Pot.6805, gvgs are a pre-arranged battle between two guilds on equal numbers and with preset rules (eg no stack weapons etc) set up by the guild leaders.

Like the iniciative of the op, not everything depends on on the gaming company.

The community that makes up the game is vital and in the case of gvgs, from my experience, the WvW community has been mature and respectful.

99% of the people that I have seen stumbling upon a gvg have left the area or sat down along the other spectators to watch the show.

Yes ANet could help us more (cough) but while the help is not arriving everything depends on us and our individual and collective decisions.

Defenetly some ideas have been given that are interesting, the one I like the most is including some links to the videos/streams of the match on the specific gvg info.

Well WvW is PvP (I hope), and pvp is in fact killing other players.

So indeed I think killing players should be rewarded more than any other thing.

I hope you are meaning the way in which you kill those players.

We should absolutely try to penalize somehow the zergy gameplay while incentive the medium and small scale pvp.

In my humble opinion, this change is good for the gray pug blobby mass, that likes the siege-points game, ocasional fights where numbers decide winner, and coverage-driven victory.

For the few fighting guilds that still remain in the game resisting and wishing the game gave them what they want, this is just another nail in the coffin.

Now we will no longer be able to choose a good tier to go to fight one another and there will be weeks where we wont have anyone to fight with appart from a mass of pugs.

Guess it it will soon be time to go on “dormant” state untill the next game that promisses good mas pvp and rvr comes out.

I think many people are sensitive towards blobing.

It is the blobbing attitude that is destroying the game and that killed T1, that otherwise would have been the best WvW fighting experience, with the biggest concentration of WvW guilds in one tier.

So yeah I find it normal that this quarrels surface in the forums.

At least you will be able to play on reset day, actually you got plenty of hours to do so, even if like some are saying you will sit a few hours in queue, what will that make it 7? 8 pm? Sounds really good to me for a reset day.

2 am was a very bad time for reset, normally the most intense day in EU matchups.

5 pm and 3 pm surely are not so bad as you can actually play once you arrive at home. Its not comparable to 2 am if we are fair.

There are some amazing battles to be had though. We fought over the bridge south of hills in BB border last night for quite some time. AR attacked, Piken beat back, Piken attacked, AR beat back… But I am curious why RG didnt push for the win? Or did you choose not to? I’m really enjoying this match-up, it is a pleasure to have almost no skill lag, and even when we have some it feels like nothing compared to the past weeks in SFR.

There is even guilds in Piken and BB that come at us as guild raid. Guild pride and the will to have nice fights didn’t dilute in the blob in this tier.

I hope we don’t drop this week!

We came for fights and fights we got

What a good night full of good fights and almost 100% lag free.

Some lag at the beginning in SM 3 way battles but nothing to bad compared to last 2 weeks constant lag-feast and skill delay.

Its a pleasure to be able to use buttons other than “1”, I had almost forgotten where my heal was binded.

And im happy to see a lot of AR people are pleased to have us fighting at their side, we had some fun “lost in translation” moments.

Promising weeks ahead imho.

If I solo-crossed with the OP in WvW I would probably ignore him completly.

Why? Two main reasons:

I have a mass combat build, not adecuate for 1v1

If I’m alone normally it is because I’m trying to reach my guilds raid, maybe from getting supply or because I just died in a battle.

That was to counter the IRON blob and SFR won. IRON left the zone to help out other zones on that reset night relatively quick (don’t like your own medicine?). Besides how can RG+sIN+pugs be bigger then what Deso or Viz brings to the table, when you got everyone and their mother on your tail, actively asking pugs and other guilds to follow? There’s a zone cap.

RG isn’t interested in blobbing up and is actively telling pugs to get on the commanders and respect the guild raid. Just like I respect another guild’s raid, I expect this from everyone on the server. We don’t need randoms following us, basically nullifying any effort by dying, because they can’t follow our movements (they aren’t on comms, they are bad, many reasons).
I can’t deny we sometimes clash into a pug commander from SFR, because we run untagged.

Number #1 to blame is ANet.
They failed to deliver a suited engine that can handle massive fights. They failed to have a proper network enviroment. They failed with map design (they need to be 5x larger, with same amount of objectives and no waypoints as a basic fix; the middle of the map should have a mechanic like the orb which also needs perma protection to keep buffs active, maybe emphasize on small scale in that area by adding 5-10 minor objectives which need to be held).

Number #2 to blame are the players.
Mentality has changed over the years. No more fights for the fun, only for the kitten (avoiding fights I can’t win; only attacking when I get the jump and/or have superior numbers). Servers playing only for the “win”, a win without benefits (yes, you are green next week, nice), a win in an uncompetitive enviroment (GW2 will never go esports, regardless what the devs think, in it’s current state and for the foreseeable future. GW2 wvw is won based only on coverage).

Both situations are quite game-breaking.

Imho all the guild leaders of guilds that like wvw but dont want blobing could have a meeting and maybe we can all distribute in a lower tier so we can actually have proper WvW AND good GvG’s whenever we want.

The lag, caused by Blobbing, is gonna end up killing the game.

I tried to play 3 hours today when I normally play many more and it was really really pathetic. No skills fiering, couldent change weapons, just not fun.

Anet got the biggest responsability in this for giving the players the chance to group up to a point where the game is not playable… but man those players and guilds that knowing that this problem exists and that persist in grouping up in huge numbers… I just dont understand them, I really cant.

I give the game a few weeks more before it completely begins to go down the drain, in the meantime, ill keep trying to play (wow interesting to TRY to play a game and not actually play it).

Overall a good week with nice fights and a lot of Drama, that always comes in handy to make things more exciting.

There is a slight difference between moving server as a guild or even various guilds at the same time to make a server Nº1 and to move as 1 or 2 ppl, not care about the community you just hopped into, not even go into public ts and in general just leech from the fruit others grew for you.

One thing is community construction and the other is being a parasite.

This patch is totally epic. Love the culling enjoyed taking down 80+ viz with 20 of us. We was kinda light tonight after no que issues so alot logged till tomorrow. kitten looking forward to it. Anet pulled it off very impressed now for the skill lag that still shows up at times.

One thing is clear now guilds who will have some balls. Since you do not need commander anymore to run as guild.

Notice the time of the night, famous “20 man” VS night ride. And this is on a resting week, looking forward to see your 20 man night ride on a pushing week.

Obviously when you are playing 6 hours a day of WvW you do mix with other players and guilds at certain moments, to take and defend certain places.

Quickness nerf big nerf.

In my opinion and as stated in above posts, a simple “arena” map for GvG would soon turn boring and stale.

I think the key would be to introduce smaller maps, with objectives and strategic gameplay where it is possible to “challenge” a guild and do a proper GvG with equal numbers, in an instanced environment.

This way, guilds would be able to chose if they want just a royal rumble or if they want to play the map as such.

GvG is by far the most fun experience you can have in this game in my opinion.

Having a lag free envirnonment and a challenge feature for this would be really really awsome.

Truth is like it or not Empyre has a point.

Multi guild-random blobs of 60+ people are far less enjoyable and impersonal than groups of 30 people clashing with each other.

Not to talk about the fact that 60+ groups cannot be faced by 30 man groups anymore due to skill lag… and at pressing “1” no one is better than the guys that have more people.

This are facts weather you like them or not.

Ive never seen so many VZ players together as today in Deso borderland.

That was the mother of all blobs, where it was stepping it was leaving a trace of lag and spoiled “1” buttons on keyboards…. when you thought you had killed it you discovered you had only cut one of its heads and 2 more where appearing, you felt it near when suddenly your teamates where crashing and teleporting all arround.

Was a really chilling experience to share borderland with it.

About yesterday on EB, VZ fortress… was probably the longest fight ive been in since september.
Non-stop killing. VZ simply wouldent surrender the place and kept coming and coming and coming.
I did see Deso a few times but I think they where wiped by VZ, we where on the other side of the castle so not so sure.

Im really suprised at VZ underperforming this week.

Why? wtf happened to the VZ spirit and all that?

Never seen VZ scoring 20 points, ever.
