I was getting this every once in a while with random toon but reloging/ guesting worked. Before the latest patch my guardian got stuck on malchor’s leap and nothing would make it move. Patch came, I was able to play my guard again. Killed teq, went back to LA and aparently he got stuck there as well. I’m still trying on my other alts, but so far 4 of the ones I had parked on Lions arch are stuck there

Edit: yep, 9/10 of my alts are lost in LA now, waiting for a fix =/
But hey, there’s always that last slot for key farming right?

Leveling: Best Places? Best Event grinds?

If, however, you’re lvling your 8th alt exploring the world probably got old a few hundred hours ago. If so, yes, Harathi is one of the best exp grind, although I recommend hoping in wvw if your server has a good zerg going. The exp is just as good, but you’ll also have the chance to drop a couple lvl 80 exotics to sell/keep for when you hit 80. Dredgehaunt cliffs also have a lot of events close together down in the south part of the map, though it’s not as populated as harathi

how much would you pay for final rest?

Precursors are easy to come by, compared to Final Rest. Personally, I think you’d need to sell a precursor just to afford the listing price of the Final Rest if you ever decide to TP it

CoF p1 farming question

Ask some of the warrior to use For great justice at the start of the fight(especially the first one) and use that signet that shares your boons with everyone, then lay down your timewrap. The warriors will easily reach 25might during the entire fight, and the boss will cry.

Use portal before the door opens, and with swiftness+blink you can cross that room before the rolling balls of fiery death start rolling around. Doing that properly will save your team a whole lot of time.

After that, you don’t have to kill the spawing mobs on the totems rooms. Using focus #4, GS#5, sword #2, Shatter F4 and decoy you can help you and the guy in the nearest totem avoid a bunch of damage, which is nice when you’re running full bersekers.

First impression I got out of that picture was that the Shatterer was coming to shatter you before you could shatter you illussions to shatter his face.

How well can Mesmer farm at 80?

About not knowing how to dungeon/fractal of the mists I wouldn’t worry about it too much. You’re never going to learn if you shy away from trying it. Join a guild with a good deal of players and use gw2lfg to get groups and learn it away.

Playing a mesmer might seem complicated, especially in the start when our dmg seems to be so awful, but it’s also extremely rewarding.

I don’t farm orr so often nowadays, but mesmer can be murder on dungeons run, especially for some specific dungeon paths(Cidatel of Flames path 1, I’m looking at you) where blink+portal and timewarp can help a lot, with the added bonus points for null field you can toss around. There’s plenty of videos and tutorial around that teach you how to drag everybit of dps you can out of a mesmer to help on those types of farming.

None of this matter if you don’t like the class however. What I recommend is that you make one and play around on spvp a bit to see how you enjoy the class. The amount of smugness you’ll start feeling when you see people wasting their cooldowns on your illussion should last until you’re 80 and start worrying about the rest =]

Don't change the way to obtain legendaries!

I’d much rather obtain my legendary by having a lot of quests in order to obtain them. Perhaps add a 2day cooldown on each quest to make the “hunt” last a couple months. As it stands, having this never ending grindfest is just no worth it

Or just make more legendary models to compesate. Who rather grind, do so. Whoever wants a more “epic adventure” to get there, gets a different item. Purely cosmetic difference even.

New Elite: Avatar State

I have thought of something similar. Instead of lasting 5min id like to see maybe 10sec. I would like to see an ele elite where we can cover ourselves in the element that we are attuned to and gain an advantage and a fall back depending on the attunment.

This is actually kind of nice. It would be in tune with conjured weapons, sacrificing our skills for 5 new ones of awesomeness during a small period of time. We would become one with the element we’re representing, able to draw forth long forgotten powers.

But seriously, if by using them we get acess to some pretty hardcore utility skills(as in major healing/chill on water, slows and immobilize on earth, moar damage and burn in fire[some men just want to see the world burn!] and boons(crit?) for allies on air.) I could see this being really usefull in any fight, while not completly obliterating the enemy. To compensate we could get drawbacks from using them, perhaps more dmg from the oposing element for 30secs, or even higher cooldown on attunement swap after the elite runs out.

DD ele to complicated and not rewarded

To be truthful, I just changed to S/D because it was getting too easy to fight 2v1’s on pvp. Work that build up bro.

Ele attunement swap design has me baffled.

Your posts read like you’re new with elementalist, so I’m going to assume you are.

Yes, at lower levels fire is all you will need to kill the mobs. Once you start getting higher, and the events match you against a greater number or mobs(and even an elite or two at that) Attunement swap becomes a must. As you trait up on the arcane tree(Which you should, at least until you learn to really play the ele), atunement swapping will give you boons, and if you do it fast enough, and use your combo fields right, you can get high amounts of might, among other boons that will really help out.

Tl;dr: Yea, now you can kill it with fire. But the time will come that poping up every spell on fire wont kill the mob, especially if there are more than one, and you will need to change.

Having a leveling race with my friend, tips?

Wait until he goes to the bathroom, open his computer and sneak into it some file with a shutdown command to his computer. How you do it is up to you, but you can find lots of tips on the internet. For bonus points, make it happen 15 mins after start up, just so he has enough time to log into gw2 before the computer shutsdown.

Trust me, you will win that race!

Are elementalists naturally weak?

Not to sound like a jerk, but you can(and should =P) test those things on spvp. You can play around with your build and have acess to all non-racial skills, and some golems to stand around and get hit.

Now to the answer: If you use Staff it’s not so good(You should use the water field and blast finished from arcane wave to heal that way). Other than that, with the amound of skills you can use with S/D, and especially D/D it’s a godsend. I lvled all the way to 80 using it with DD. It will also help counter the small amount of health we have, since you will be using skills so fast that the heal will stack up, switching to water so you can use the heal skills if you get to ~50% of health.

It’s also really good in PvP. I had people telling me how annoying it was to kill me, since they rarely got my hp lower than half, even during 1v2. Of course, if they get a really glass cannon build after you, you’d better evade else get dropped like a sack of potatos.

Also, what Blaine said. Although you start really feeling it at higher lvls, playing with some nice vit really helps you out.

Tips for making this profession more fun to play?

1st: You’re going to die. Dying is okay. You can leave the mobs around in a word of so much hurt however, that you should be able to get back up pretty fast.

This I disagree with. An Ele doesn’t have to die and you should focus on playing well enough that you don’t. If one weapon set/build/playstyle isn’t working out for you, try something else.

I meant it as more of a general advice while learning the game. You are right of course, and while I died a lot while I was getting the hang of it, now I only do it when I’m fooling around, or get too confident during the earth dagger 5 skill only to get a stun in the face and a bunch of damage from everyone around.

My tip is: Lvl with dagger/dagger for a while. Nothing will teach you how to combo, switch attunements and how to kite as DD(Plus, the amount of destruction you can unleash using daggers is amazing). As i’m still lvling, I am mostly playing solo pve as well and there are a couple things you gotta learn/accept before you play the ele.

1st: You’re going to die. Dying is okay. You can leave the mobs around in a word of so much hurt however, that you should be able to get back up pretty fast.
2nd: You need to switch atunements. While is perfectly fine to keep up fire and auto-atacking when fighting a single mob, once you start facing 3+ in a single fight, you are going to need all your skills to fight them. There are plenty ways to daze/slow/chill/bleed and burn them down, so be sure to use them.
3rd: If you’re not having fun, but like the idea/skills of elementalist go play some other class and come back later. I rolled a guardian shortly after I got my ele to lvl 30 and started playing. Since that is a class that can aford to get hit a bit more, I was able to learn exactly when to block/evade atacks, and that helped me a lot when I went back to the elementalist
