I think the lack of ferocity hurt less than the lack of condi dura.
What does the tempest heal build look like ?
This is what I run. The trinkets change depending on the toughness of the tank but it’s also fully capable of heal tanking.
Is the condi dmg really good here ? You have very little condis application. Wouldn’t zealot be more powerful ?

We don’t know all that from his post, we just know the main group was full before he could get in, and there is not enough people to fill 2nd group.
You’re guildmates, not brothers, if someone is the only one far behind, you replace him, you don’t invest hours of your personal play time to get him to be at the same level as anyone else.
But it doesn’t even seem to be the situation of OP, in his case it look like he’s in a bigger than 10 guild and didn’t manage to secure a spot in the raid. If you’re more than 10, someone will be out of it, you can’t help it, the guild got nothing to do with it.
That guild sounds like its bad, or at least the people are for excluding others from raiding.
Find yourself some friends, a new guild or something and enjoy those raids.
Alternative, start up the second group, gather as many as you can and then try to fill up with your/other squad-member’s friends; maybe even people from here or reddit (can’t believe I’m saying this). The options are there, use them.
Maybe he is really, really bad ?
Decimate defenses ?
That was my point.
I think they pretty much already did.
After writing all that, I thought about what are the closest examples to fighting a good AI in this game.
It is events with multiple mobs: each one may only have three skills but, with several types of them and in good quantity, the result is closer to what I expect of a boss with good AI. There is still no active skill countering but the numbers and positioning of multiple, powerful mobs.
Soloing or duoing refugee camp defense offers more real time strategy because of the more random and less predictable elements while being difficult enough due to being grossly outnumbered.
Arenanet could take four of their favorite fractal bosses, a few lower bosses like champs, stuff ten players onto a platform with them, and wish everyone luck. I would prefer that to gated phases and timers. The variety of boss skills should mix things up enough in the chaos.
You can’t have random. In the end it will just be a lot of possibilities, but the players will learn them all and what to do, in which situation to do it.
You’re just asking for more mobs and no timer on the event, so a dodge game basically ? I don’t really see how it would be better.
I’m doing sinister armor/trinkets + giver’s weapons. When i can afford it / find the recipe, i’m going sinister trinkets + armor/weapons viper.
Both way get you close to cap on dura, but viper gives you more stats overall because giver’s weapons got no condi dmg.
I’m using this condi build and i am most succesful in 1v1, only class besting me are strong burst or other condi reapers (or straight up better players, they can be on any class).
