They replaced 30% boon duration and 20% cd reduction on all 2 handed weapons with:

(drums roll)

20% cd reduction on staff and 20% boon duration while wielding a staff. People are lashing out because the shield still isn’t good enough while Anet just stuck this one under the rug.

Sooo… did they just nerfed the 30% boon duration you could get from the virtues trait line and gave nothing back, or am I missing something here? Just saying this because they buffed the baseline condition duration of most condition abilities but haven’t buffed the duration of any boons we can get.

Please don’t let the trade off be the 20% boon on staff…

You do know what fire and forget means? I put a ton of condi’s on you and walk away. I’m still doing a lot of damage.

Warrior uses Eviscerate -> Does 5k damage in one hit (assuming both players aren’t full zerk).

Necro uses Mark of Blood -> Does 5k Bleeding damage over a period of 13 seconds.

Its the same damage.

How is one “fire and forget” while the other isn’t?

You “fire” an Eviscerate and then forget about it.

Just because the bleeding happens over a period of 13 seconds, rather than all at once, it is still a single attack. You still have to hit the target with it.

Just because a condition is ticking over a period of time, doesn’t mean it ends up doing any more damage.

Think they are saying it’s fire and forget because the eviscerate will deal that 5k instantly, no way around it (unless you dodge but you can also dodge the mark). As for the bleeding your opponent gets 13 secs to cleanse it off. If they cleanse it as soon as they get it it won’t even do damage to them. But you just said that on your other post.

Nice nice reset, big clashes, even if maybe tomorrow everything will be lost in the alcoholic mist of my mind i started with that epic epic fight in MS garri, still having goosebumps after a past week a bit numb.

I absolutely agree with retaliation issue, playing with engi i really have to excessively restrain myself. I really hope they’ll find a right balance between utility for the users and way of dealing with it for the takers.

Personally i just hope they basically remove it (despite playing a guardian). I dont think any game has ever managed to use the mechanic in a way that didn’t seem … kind of cheap or open to abuse. Exteme example but this springs to mind http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aX2JEKVn-U4

Think removing is a bit too extreme, maybe remove it from the shouts and the light-blast combo, and give something else in return. I don’t think the problem is the mechanic itself, just the way you can easily spread it around. Kinda of a easy math, less people with it means aoe users take less damage but single target attackers still take the same damage if they choose to attack someone with retal up.

On the matchup so far it’s being great, against the majority I really like fighting the German servers, they never make the matches dull and boring, like it was 2 weeks ago.

I run with the Healway build, although I switch some Cleric’s pieces to Soldier ones because I found myself overhealing most of the time when dodging and also dying a bit to burst damage when snared/focused by a group (but that’s probably because my reaction skills aren’t very sharp).

I used to run a hammer aswell for CC but switched to the sword/focus combo, mainly because having a leap and a flash on a short cooldown helps a lot, not only on dpsing a marked enemy but also when things go south and you have to get the hell out of there. Usually it takes a group of 5-6 to catch me (and they have to make good use of their CC) when i decide to turn away and run.

On supporting a teammate, I usually place myself between enemies and my mate. I found having a large model character helps a lot in his survivability, because bad players usually focus the first thing they see and the first thing they see is normally the big norn instead of the tiny asura :P Also some basic stuff: heal dodge next to him if he gets focused, use shouts / virtue of resolve / focus 4 to get conditions out of him. There ain’t much more I can think of, just know which class to focus first (rangers and zerker builds are usually the first ones) and when to run.

I used to run the AH build with high damage/toughness/vitality and it made me reroll a mesmer :P It was just not the best spec for roaming because of the small number of boons you could give to your allies, making your 30/32 seconds heal the only way of surviving the incoming damage (drawback of having low healing power).

When I bought this game I was told this is a skill based game in PVP aswell as PVE and that you could easily obtain the best gear in the game in order to tackle all the game has to offer. Guess I was told a lie.

Hi guys, just read the news and let me tell you, , I have never expected a change like this to happen.

What can I say, I am delighted with this new progression system that ANet has implement because this will definitely bring more players to the game I love to play since day 1. Really, I can’t just hold my excitement to see new players experience the new end game that was developed.
