The real problem is the numerous reports of people getting 1x d/c then being banned for the full 72hrs or w/e it is.
The only really bad players are the ones who don’t use teamwork or constantly zerg one spot over and over. If you’re not one of them you’re probably ok
It’s interesting though, since you can turn glory into gold fairly easily, the people who exploited to get the glory can get fairly huge sums of gold for their efforts now. That’s something that effects the PvE folks, would think Anet would be all over that like wombats on ugly.
Considering how much glory they exploited, and how much you get if you convert it, it’s more than a small amount when you get to 35+ rank if you’ve not spent any glory.
I’ve been getting it a lot lately as well. Had one team that was 5 guards Was nice to be on that team.
But come up against teams that are 4/5 one class often enough to notice a definite trend there.
Suggestion: Don’t let matches start until everyone hits ready. If somebody doesn’t hit ready before the timer goes down they are removed and replaced by the next person in queue.
It’s simple.
Can’t gonna disagree with that, but they’re still not gonna give a response no matter what the players do. It’s some of the worst – if not the worst – customer service I’ve ever seen in an MMO regardless of game/company size.
But at least we know we can exploit for gold/glory happily in future since nothing happens. Well, people with no standards anyway
You won’t get a dev reply. People been wanting one for a long, long time now.
The zerg work when it’s a nice combo of dps/condi. Hate when they do that. Although it does feel real good to hold off half a team for a while.
Less good when you hold off half a team and the rest of yours still can’t get a cap :p
I always kinda liked helping new people learn to play All the BS talk and flaming bad/new players doesn’t really help anyone after all. Plus talking breaks up the monotony of otherwise waiting around for things.
It really just means that PvP is going to get an influx of PvE players who have no idea what they’re doing and just try for ‘top score’, ignoring the actual goal of the map and causing their team to lose over and over, then getting frustrated and going back to PvE.
It would be nice if more people did PvP of course, but for what seems like a majority of people it’s not really a big draw. Probably not helped by the fact balance is so, so bad among the classes it’s almost laughable (the exact classes change with the patches). Many PvP players are also more than a little miffed at how Anet seems to ignore people who exploit in PvP for stupidly high gains that would otherwise take a year-ish to earn with high-levels of play time, sort of causing many people to just drop from PvP as it is.
I’ll get w/e drops while running fractals (assuming that unlike the choose-your-skin boxes they actually add these when they say they will). I don’t enjoy having to run around and gather for X thousand of many materials for a couple of items, let alone a full armor set.
Balance between classes/skill wouldn’t hurt. Half the problem is that so many people run the exact same builds/styles – sadly, usually whatever requires little skill beyond mashing ones face into a keyboard and hoping for a decent outcome.
If there was more variety in workable builds (there are variances of course but they tend to be few and far between once you get serious) and possibly more ways to ID the more PvP focused players from the herd you might also get more views. But with everyone using similar skills, similar looks and no real identifier aside from a small name tag.. it’s hard.
If they brought in capes or something as in GW it might help as well. Watching two big guilds go at it for gold trim was always fun to watch/play.
Hardly. Most matches I’ve been in I see anywhere from 1-3 guardians, it’s all engies, necros and wars. You just had good luck.
Can confirm this doesn’t work w/ ruby or sapphire orbs either. Curious as hell what it makes since I have all the mats and such.
Everything is a match, says it’ll make something, hit forge and… nothing happens.
To be fair, thanks to the patch one path in HotW (the only non-water combat filled one) is not bugged as well (cannot enter the boss room without falling through the world).
That’s my gripe >.> The CoF change was needed, and didn’t even make it that much harder, now it actually feels like a dungeon instead of a stroll through unicorn woods.
Adding my +1 agreement to this. I help out a lot of folks in dungeons on my main, so have a lot of tokens. For armor that I don’t want on my main.
Alts would be happy to use the tokens though. I mean, they’re happy to eat my PvP glory or badges of honor right?
Of the three paths you can choose from in explorable mode, two of them have underwater bosses. For most people, this is already very anti-fun.
Both of these bosses have stupidly high HP, especially for underwater monsters.
One of these bosses (Wollom) has a stupidly high damage attack with no telegraphing. The minefield he tend to shoot at people – at point blank range – will happily chew off 23k of a toughness/vit warrior.
The Svanir Maulers and claymores underwater are doing 20k damage hits, again with no telegraphing. Not so great.
All the paths have a guy who does ‘Frost Magic’. It’s a good mechanic, nice and fun. But putting down 4-5 almost directly onto each other = dead person. They seem to enjoy putting this onto people who are already downed. Instant death isn’t so fun for most folks.
People are already pretty anti underwater combat, but when you throw in the above issues it really turns into a big hassle. The fact two of the main path bosses are entirely underwater (and beefy HP/def wise) means a lot of people are fairly likely to ignore this dungeon (even though one path is not underwater). Would be nice to get a a few of the above issues looked over by the staff again to see if they’re ‘fun’ or just ’don’t bother’.
While you’re there, how about account bound dungeon tokens and maybe lowering the 60+ dungeon runs for a set thing? 60+ runs isn’t really ‘fun’ for most people. 60+ runs of a dungeon almost nobody wants to do is a nightmare.
