The 50 dollars you paid for your 5 character slots on the core game is now worth 10 – 40 dollars. So why should you be compensated further after playing the game for 3 years. What game compensates users after 3 years of a one time purchase? You’re lucky they didn’t create a new game altogether.
You post this like Factions and Nightfall don’t exist.
Haha yeah, it existed 10 years ago… Times have changed, businesses change, its 2015, get with the time baby.
Yeah, in 2015 90% of MMOs are F2P with cash shop. Most Subscription MMOs tank.
As ultimately opposed to 2005-2008 When Most (good) MMOs were subscribed.
So yes, good example.LOL! SO why are you here? I don’t need to convince you with an example. From the start Arena Net said they are trying their own unique model.. SO here it, enjoy! Or goodbye!
The white knighting you’re doing is absolutely disgusting. A-Net is ripping all the current players off with the pricing, and without compensation via gem store stuff, they may be finding Maguuma to be far less busy than they hoped.

The current players (as people are calling them, vets).
Think about it. First the “Trait Redesign” in April 2014 Feature Pack, then the “New Player Experience” with September 2014 Feature Pack, and now, hiking up the price of HoT without offering any compensation to players with the base game, to “make it easier for new players to get in”.

The price would be worth it, if they gave people who actually bought the base game $10-$20 dollars of cash shop goodies or gems. Otherwise, based on what we’ve seen so far… they’re asking for too much.

Probably beating the dead horse by this point, but there really needs to be some compensation for players who buy HoT and the base game. Whether it’s something like 800 gems, or Gem Store goodies worth 800 gems (like two Bag Slot Expanders) would make the pricing more fair (50 dollars plus goodies worth 10 dollars).
If we do see more dungeons, we’ll probably see them in Aetherpath style. Which might mean people not really doing them. Still, seeing a new dungeon would be nice sometime soonish (like LS season 3).

Well once we get the other Legends, we SHOULD be able to choose two that go better together. The only synergy the Mallyx and Ironhammer Legends have is that Ironhammer’s heal can eat up all those self inflicted conditions you get from using Mallyx skills.
Not that I know of, but a Quartermaster would be absolutely amazing in the next beta test. Or in the final test (hint hint).
No specializations or new Revenant skills are in yet.
Maybe “Drill of the Breachmaker”, since that’s the only part remaining of it.
So as the title states, a very ecstatic Asura decided to show his gratitude to Anet for LA’s recent cleanup. Three A-Net employees even came to see it in all its glory.
(Not mine, dunno if naming them would give them too much unwanted attention.)
The fact that this has apparently been going on for an entire month is absurd. Honestly the fix warrants a release of its own, instead of waiting an eternity for it to get shipped with minor things.
Not going to happen, you are going to wait(You dont have to like it of course, but you will). Rangers had to wait 2 months to get their class mechanic fixed(I talked about this in another thread and how it affected me being able to play). this could take just as long as that.
That… that’s concerning to hear. Though the glitch was probably a tough one for them to fix, two months for a glitch affecting the gameplay of a class is mind boggling. Hopefully since they apparently have this fix ready they’ll deploy soon, like Tuesday as others are mentioning.

It’s not being taken away, just forcing us to choose between Evasive Arcana and Elemental Attunement.
Letter does nothing. You had to log in and talk to Grawnk (sp). You could complete the event without ever opening your mail.
Ahh. Main reason I asked was out of curiosity whether the mail had any direct link to the event. Thanks for the help.
To make things short, I logged on a bit during Wintersday 2014 but did nothing related to Orphan Laine’s Letter. Going now to my home instance shows no sign of the mentioned children. I was told it was safe to delete, so my question is whether or not it’s possible to start the quest or whatever the letter is linked to, or if I’d have to wait till Wintersday 2015?
I’ve got two requests. Thinking the drum MIGHT work with the first (ZG) request, but if not, oh well.

Maybe I’m crazy, but I saw nothing in that blog post that mentioned anything about keys. They did mention that they would reevaluate rewards. My guess is that the gear you get to choose from will actually become useful. But removing keys as a PS story reward? I’m not seeing it, but maybe I forgot my tinfoil hat….
It’s not that, it’s having to level to ten to do the story in the first place.
Well this is absolute crap.
They should make the 1-10 story start at level 1, NOT level 10.
I just had a Guardian repeatedly exploit the glass near one of the points for the entire match, just knocking people into them and breaking them. Heck, I even died WITHOUT falling on top of unshattered glass! Worst part is, they had the audacity to say GG.
Remove the glass, laser cannon and jump pads, and put barriers around the edges. Then Skyhammer will be a map that doesn’t invoke extreme rage.
Aetherblade jumping puzzle right outside LA in Gendarran Fields drops them. Aetherblade Retreat fractal does as well.
Guess I should have mentioned I have 7 out of 8 of my characters parked on that JP. Though the aether fractal would be nice, it’s pretty random, and seems like it’d be unfarmable.
Okay, so Blade Shards… I’m on the final step of the Spinal Pack, and need 500 of these things. Aside from dumping Watchwork Sprockets in the toilet, is there a way to farm these things?
(Sorry if this is the wrong forum, figured it’d go here because they’re a crafting material.)
Honestly, I’m pretty sure the “esports” community is tiny here. Only ONCE have I heard somebody mention it in LA chat, and they were promptly told that nobody cares.
As for the living story, they SHOULD finish season 2, but drop it afterwards like a potato that caught on fire. It’s hogging up resources for superior content that has superior replay value such as what the OP mentioned, alongside WvW and SAB.
As other people are saying, Living Story just doesn’t have the replay value dungeons have. You basically do it once for the story, then a few times to get the achievements. Development manpower should be focused on content that has stronger replay value, such as dungeons, WvW and SAB, NOT content that’s abandoned after being played for an hour or two.
Stayed for all four paths, great attitude, very patient and friendly. Made Arah fun. 10/10, would highly recommend.
We just need new content. After season 2, just scrap Living Story, put it on hiatus, or decrease it to monthly/every other month.
This is simply put, a huge shame. Living Story is nice, but honestly, it’s inferior to things like new zones and such. Living Story has fairly little replay value, but an entire new dungeon? That’s something that’d see the light of day way more often. Plus, with Maguuma being delved into, it’s the PERFECT time to put a new dungeon into the game.
(On another note, I don’t play the game for LS, and would honestly not mind it getting scrapped after season 2 for more dungeons/SAB at all.)
If it’s not too late, I’d like to join in. Hopefully I can just melee with my ranged weapon (Ele Staff), because I haven’t gotten D/F down yet.
1.) State if NA or EU and ask here.
2.) If you don’t need the money and really can’t be kitten d then yes. Otherwise no, especially since Arah can actually be quite fun.
3.) I never tried the dungeon reward tracks but I’d say no.
Sorry for the late reply, but…
1. I’m NA.
2. I’d imagine it’d be fun if it went smoother than it usually does for me.
3. The dungeon tracks do seem to be slower for getting token boxes, but around the same speed if you factor in the token costs of the weapons/armor piece you get.
Okay, so far I’ve tried Arah three times (I need it for Bifrost), and every single time, it’s been a rage-filled, living hell. It’s taken at least two hours per run, and two of the three times, the groups didn’t even get to finish. This is the least fun I’ve had in GW2 in all of my time playing it. So let me ask three things. Firstly, guilds aside, how do you find a good group for this place? Secondly, is it worth buying runs to save this insane frustration? Thirdly, would it just be better to grind sPvP for the Arah tokens?
Honestly, FGS is too strong against walled targets right now. You give yourself and a teammate the weapon, and the damage on skills 3 and 4 are just too good. Even without skills 3 and 4, skills 1 and 5 are good enough to validate using the weapon in the first place. As for Meteornado, I can’t speak for it, as I’ve never tried it before.
The Glyph of Storms will probably cause Vulnerability, Blindness or Weakness by the way.
(I say this as someone who mains an Ele.)
Every time a WvW update comes, it seems like nobody’s happy with it, as it’s not what they wanted at all. Aside from better rewards for defending and stopping hackers/bug exploiters, what exactly is it that people want in the first place?
Okay, so I noticed Bloomanoo and Peneloopee showed up at the summit. Now naturally, I should be more concerned about everything else that happened, but I couldn’t find a trace of them after the quest was over. What happened to those two Quaggan?
Okay, so as the title suggests, I got my Thief to level 80. However, I’m not too sure how to build him/what stats to get on his armor. What I’m looking for in particular are roaming WvW and group PvE builds. I don’t really care what weapon combos are used in the builds. Thanks in advance.
Well if it’s still going on, I’d be glad to enter.
Okay, so when I started back playing, I went on a spree of throwing items into my wardrobe, one of which was the Super Dagger skin (the rare quality, non-account bound one). Fast forward about a week, I realize that, on an alt, I have the account bound, green version. It’s probably a stretch to even ask, but is it possible at all to restore the sellable skin, while putting the account bound one into my wardrobe? I do know that some companies (like Blizzard, one of the few good things I can say about them) can restore items when situations similar to this happen, and since I didn’t see any option for such on the game’s help menu, I figured I’d ask here.
Thanks, a Tyrian who’s facepalming at his very costly stupidity.
Okay, so last year, I played this game from about May to late October (during the time of the Halloween update), and in the process, got a level 80 Elementalist among some other characters. However, by the time I had quit, I was simply burnt out. Between the barrage of constant updates that forced me to do them or miss out on them and the money grind for a legendary weapon (which was basically the endgame at this point), all I had left was WvW, which was getting tiresome after constantly doing it (and the having to pay actual gold to upgrade forts).
Now however, I’m interested in this game again, seeing as Wildstar wasn’t as good as anticipated. Yet, I’m aware I missed tons of “living world” content. Would it even be worth returning to the game after having permanently missed out on so much content and story, and if so, would the problems I faced before I quit continue to haunt me now?
Inb4 ignore forum comments as long as they conform to matching white knight dribility
Umm… what.
