I have been having crashing issues with guild wars 2 ever since i came back to play roughly 2 months ago. The crashes appear random, as they occur in WvW, idling in lions arch, or even just traveling through a zone. They dont appear to be tied to large amount of particle effects or quantity of players on screen as i can happily play through a boss fight (ie shatterer) with lots of effects going on, but crash when travelling where no effects are present.
When the crash occurs it produces either a fully black or grey/black texture screen, and the sound slows/loops. I cant exit out to desktop or anything. So a hard reset is required. My computer only crashes with Guild wars 2, I play multiple other games on this system and none of them produce crashes.
My system is as follows
i5-3570K CPU – Running at stock with H50 watercooler
8GB of RAM
2GB NVIDIA GTX 670 – Running at stock
Windows 7Nothing in my system has been overclocked / undervolted etc.
Any help with this issue would be much appreciated as its becoming an nuisance.

Lots of people are having this issue and they want to blame us. Just like they wanted to blame us at launch when they had all kinds of problems.
Has nothing to do with your system.
I can play any games for hours upon hours and never have any issues.
This game crashes for me randomly as well.
One of my screens will go white and one black, than my PC restarts.
I’m done with this game until they acknowledge this problem.
I’m not gonna mess up my PC trying to play this game because the devs poorly optimized it.
Just had it happen again within 10 mins.
Once screen goes black one goes white.
I’m done playing this game until they acknowledge the problem.
I’m not going to break my PC because of this games poor optimization.
I’m going to bump this thread.
I have the exact same problem.
I never crash on anything but GW2. I also get the kernel event thing.
My PC temps are fine. My GFX card sits around 50 and my CPU sits around 60. So that’s out of the question. There is no way my PSU or RAM is bad as this would also happen outside of GW2.
This is just a long list of why Gw2 (Anet) sucks. At launch it was way worse.
I have the exact same PC and at launch i got like 20 FPS on the lowest settings so i quit. Came back a week ago and now i get 60 FPS on ultra and they told me it was my PC, aint that something. Blame us and not themselves.
OMG dude this is totaly fail in PVP when i wanna burst some one and for no reason my targeth was removed and im using the skills in empty AIR this was reqested since day one they dont care about its not giving them profit :P
it seems that way which is really sad.
Bump, please this needs looked into. No reason this has not be addressed yet.
I suggested way back in Beta they add what i call Lock-on-Target option, just like in GW1.
The problem in this game (unlike in gw1 where there was a collision and enemies could not pass thru you) in gw2 they can, or they go behind you, while at the same time, many skills have been changed since launch where u basically have to face the target to cast, so u end up loosing your mark that way as well. I was disappointed with these changes as i think it’s going backwards rather than forward imo.
I say that because, aside from typical rooted play, Lotro has such a pedantic ‘must face target’ casting, while enemy AI is designed to always go behind you and it’s enough to drive you crazy. But just the sheer ability to move while casting, at least for me, outweighs this issue in gw2. However, targeting system is a big problem and really should be seriously addressed. Lets face it we fight all the time and it’s one of those things if it’s not working right it becomes a constant annoyance and rather than enjoying the game and the amazing combat system u end up feeling frustrated.
At least give players an option to lock on target and those who don’t want to use it don’t have to. I’ve seen tons of complaints about this and they won’t go away untill this is addressed and i think it should be done sooner rather than later.
It really does need to be addressed. i was complaining about this on launch. I just came back a week ago after quitting because of optimization issues from launch. Some are fixed but some things are still poorly designed.
I can’t believe this has yet to be fixed. Just blows my mind. Even bad MMOs have this feature.
It seriously can’t be that hard to change. It would also make the game feel 100% better. I get very annoyed when i’m trying to kill mobs and I detarget my target. it’s just something you shouldn’t have to deal with.
Have you tried unchecking the right click to attack/interact in options?
Even when this option is disabled, I still end up clicking allies and dead enemies (why are they still targetable? they’re dead!). I hate relying on tab targetting/auto target cuz it never picks up the target that I want. What sucks is the sticky target option is sorta there, but you have to be in a group to utilize it.
That right click option was newly implemented and i suffered from it to when i returned from a hiatus and thought i was having mouse issues for the first time ever buuuuut i ticked it off and i was kay…starting to think you have targetting issues cause you inexperienced.
Let’s not shy away from the issues I posted. They’re very present and they’re very annoying. These are things that should of been addressed in beta.
Also the Right click disable to target is very annoying how they added it to the game. Good games make it so right click does not target enemies, But lets you talk to NPCs with right click. This leads to a even more clunky feeling UI when you turn it off. It fixes one small problem but leads to others.

Why on earth is sticky target option not in the game.
That just blows my mind.
I use left click to move my camera and right click. As well as hold down left mouse and right to auto run. I also like to use left click to pan my camera to make sure i’m not around anything that could be a threat.
When i do this i’m constantly dropping my target.
Come on now there is no excuse for this.
I’m not crashing but i’m having absolute terrible performance out of my 660 ti on this game. I’m getting extremely frustrated.
I’m sorry but what Nvidia said about being CPU bound is complete BS.
I have two PCs
i5-2500k / GTX 460 / 8gb ram
15-2500k / GTX 660 ti / 8gb ram
Guess which one can get better performance out the game? The 660 ti right? Not, my GTX 460 with the same CPU / Ram / Power supply runs this game on max with shaders on medium pretty easy.
While my 660 ti idles at 70 FPS on max then u turn the camera and boom 20 FPS lag.
My GTX 460 Idles at 40 FPS with everything on max but Shaders it’s on medium and i don’t ever drop below 30 FPS while spinning my camera.
So don’t even try to pass this off as a CPU bottle neck because it’s a complete lie.
Explain to me how one of my CPUs can run this game On everything maxed but shaders on medium with a worse card but the better card with the same settings runs like crap?

Does A-net respond to these forums?
I’d like to see some word on whether or not this is a 600 series issue with GW2 or if its my card.
Hi, I just upgraded from a GTX 460 to a GTX 660 TI and I’m getting worse Frames on my GTX 660 Ti than my GTX 460.
I’ve tried installing the newest drivers and the old drivers with no change.
On my GTX 460 i could run everything on ultra but super sampling i kept that on native and i never had problems with dropping below 30 FPS anywhere.
Now that i got my GTX 660 TI i can run everything on ultra and idle at 91 FPS but as soon as i turn my camera my FPS takes a dive to the 20’s. The only way i can stop it is by disabling Shadows and Shaders, I sit at 70+ FPS everywhere with them off.
This card shouldn’t have any problems running everything on max. My GTX 460 ran better than my GTX 660 Ti which makes no sense.
This is the only game i seem to have a problem with my GTX 460 running better than my GTX 660 Ti.
Spec:
i-5 2500k
GTX 660 Ti (306.02 drivers)
8gb ddr3
Any Suggestion would be nice if anyone has found a fix thank you.
