“Good” to hear that I’m not the only one.
It started right before the weekend with DC’s every hour or so in WvW. But today It’s been crazy. DC’d 3 times during the last hour just walking about in PvE?
Would be nice just to hear what’s going on :/
In WvW, the massive number of people would be a hard task for any computer. But the game would run much smoother if it was better att utilizing the performance.
And I think DX11-support would make for a good start.
This is not something new or weird I’m making up, this has been a talking-point for some time. It’s become better since beta/release, but I’m certain there are still performance-tweaks to be made. In fact, if I remember correctly, there should be a post around here somewhere where one of the dev’s is talking about some kind of performance-boost coming.
That was a while ago tough, maybe already been shipped out? Anyhow, the point is, yes WvW is hard, but it could be better because of how they’ve set things up.
It’s nice to see that everyone isnt just going “hurr durr, they won cus they cheated”.
Some people stayed up ALL NIGHT to make it happen.
And it reeaaallly sucks that a few kitten -holes are ruining the fun, but you have to understand that we don’t want them either. But what can we do? If someone can shut him/her down, please, feel free to do so, they will not be missed.
I’ve heard over TS this whole week that people are trying to catch him on video and report him.
I’m not a huge WvW’er, but already I’m pretty piszed that these guys are giving us a bad rep we cant do anything about. :/
It was a good fight tough, Gandara was alway a thorn in our side

Because GW2 is… oddly coded to appeal the masses. It’s basicly CPU-power that counts the most. And an old i5 isn’t excatly high-end.
But i wouldnt matter, even if you had the latest i7 it would still lag like crazy in WvW because how GW2 is built.
One can only hope for atleast DX11-support in the future.
I’m in the same boat.
Overwrote a SAB-skin in favor of bankspace, I’d love it if I could get it back… :/
OP, this is a fantastic post. I salute you.
And I wish for the Anet-team to really listen up.
It is not what you change that matters, as long as you’re on the ball every change is easily revertable. We just want to see that you’re actually trying.
I’ve been running this build for quiet some time now, and I am by no means the best player. I’ve “only” logged ~710h overall, but lately I’ve had the urge to try to better myself as much as I can.
Explanation of why I made some choices
•I’d like to point out that i 95% of the time I just PvE with my wife.
•I chose GS over S/D because of the stupid sword-animation.
•Signet of the hunt just for the speed-boost, since sword/warhorn gives the same problem.^
•Raven for blindness and dps / bear for tanking.
•30 – Marksmanship for “Keen edge” and “Opening strike” buffs so I can really pack a bleed-punch right of the bat, and I get 30% condition duration .
•30 – Wilderness Survival mostly for the condition damage, but with the Undead runes I also benefit from the toughness. Traitwise I tried to get some condi-removal, and I really wanted “Companions defence” so I could sorta dodge for my pet. Wich kinda works with the “Natural vigor”.
•10 – Nature magic just for “Strength of spirit” so I could up the power even more.
•I run the “Carrion” set because of the vitality -> power change. I think the power does more damage than if would to run a “Dire” set. Vitality to power = 7%, Toughness to Condition = 5%
•Celestial trinkets because, well, honestly I bought my amulet way back because it looked cool, then some kind of selective OCD kicked in and everything else HAD to be celestial, and now I dont have the funds to swap them out :P
As I said, I’m not a hardcore player, but not really a casual player either i think. I mostly just PvE with my wife, doing the LS-updates and maybe a dungeon now and then.
So I’m just looking to up my game a little bit
Any suggestions are welcome, I have a few ideas of my own, but I’d like to hear what the more “involved” players have to say.
1) Ranger
2) Necro
—
As a Ranger from BETA, I am very happy that everyone else can see that we do need some extensive changes.
If they could learn to dodge instead of me playing the F3 mini-game and completely loosing focus on what’s happening, I’d be sooo happy.
And why cant I see my pets conditions/buffs unless i select them?
—
I dont have enough experience with other classes except warrior to be able to list those who need help, but it seems that the necro is high up on the list aswell, so i’ll put them as number 2 to help you guys out a bit.

It is a very common issue, all this previous post prove it. ALSO NOT EVERY GAME IS THE SAME, GW2 is particulary Bus speed dependant. Again running at x2 BF3 will perform just as well as x16, GW2 in the other hand will be at 5-10 FPS, AMD cards has no issues with the game i have 3 high end AMD cards hd 5970, hd 6950 hd 7950 none ever had any issue in GW2, also own 3 Nvidia Cards gt 9800, GTX 550ti GTX670, no issues running any of them either.

Let’s go your way then and assume that it’s a PCI-e lane problem.
How come, GPUZ (and all other software) says that my lanes are fine? (x16). And you dont need to worry about dust, I just hade the card out a week ago while I was spring cleaning.
But even more interesting, how come the problem resolved itself when I re-installed my drivers? (Yes, the exact same drivers I had)
Sure sounds to me like it’s a driver/compatibility-bug.
PCI express bus issue. Very common. The PCI-e port where u have plugged the videocard is either dusty, wrongly seated card, or wrong PCI-e port (non x16). Dwonload GPU-z check for the PCI-e bus speed, ikt should be: “2.0 x16@ 2. x16” anything different will give u crappy FPS in GW2 even while every other app will run perfectly
Sorry but no,
1st off, this is certanly not very common
2nd – I swear on all the narwhals in the world that my computer is working to 100%
(3rd but unimportant, the difference between the x4/8/16 PCI-port speeds are bearly noticable; http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/amd-crossfire-nvidia-sli-multi-gpu,2678-kittenml)
This is clearly some kind of bug or compabillity problem that strikes AMD-cards
Since you posted on my thread, I would just like to bump this, and also link my thread for reference to whomever it may interest.

This is truley a wierd problem. As you point out, it seems to stick at about 10 fps whatever you do. And just like you, everything is working fine. Good temps, correct drivers, working without a hitch one day but totally unplayable the next.
I dread the day my “main” computer (also running a AMD-card) does this and I will be unable to play GW
I have a secondary computer that I play on when I’m gaming with my GF.
Yesterday – Worked great as always, ~50fps @ medium settings.
Today – 10fps at low, even tough Auto-Detect wants to put it on High.
I have done absolutly nothing with the computer, we boot it up basicly just for GW.
It’s running a Phenom II 940 processor and a HD5850. (Yes, I have the latest drivers)
And since the patch-notes simply states “Maintenance”, I’m at a loss.
