Jq and I hear bg were not full earlier prime time. Not logging in on purpose to further stack?
It doesn’t matter if they are full or not, only certain servers get free transfers, you can’t free transfer to JQ or BG anyway.
If you’re talking about people actually paying to go there and stacking for season 2, that’s for another topic. :P
I’m wondering the exact same thing, but for EU. It seems only certain servers are up for free transfer? Sell me your EU server! (if its up for free transfer) I’m mostly interested in WvW.
If I were you, I will go either
1, full zerk (maybe with a little bit utility for survival) burst— play a you die or I die game (use LB3 wisely is the key)
or 2, go full regen/con + BM and change LB to short bow — play a sustain pressure game. It’s much easier than 1 but less interesting.
You current build won’t kill any1 with even a little bit skills in roaming.
I know it’s sub-optimal but I’ve played conditank and I’m bored so I want to try a power build, gs is fun and longbow is fun in eotm ^^ I want to be as bursty as possible while keeping sustain from vigor/regen.
Trying to make one, got this so far: http://gw2skills.net/editor/?fMAQJARTnAVkYZlFeBxaZAppQTsEmC+jRcPGFPJELYRC-jkxAYrAl9KiGb9sIasKGM9JRUt3oIa1A-w
Any input? I’m gonna start getting ascended jewelry, berserkers I guess, should I go the full berzerk or zerk with vitality? Maybe I should trade out some soldiers for valkyrie for that crit damage? Or maybe wait untill the crit dmg nerf comes out. Been running around with some crap gear today and doing OK with that vigor and regen.
A bundle is not a stolen skill, it’s an engineer kit, or an elementalist conjure weapon, or a rock you pick up from the ground, things that change your 1-5 skills. The trait is bad, it recharges at random 1 of the 5 types of skills, regardless of which you have equipped on your bar.
So what you guys need to do is add the armory thingy that’s in heart of the mists into the pve world. Add all the skins in the game in there, oh and make us able to use them as much as we want when we unlock them(like the achievement skins). Then you can start adding more non-gemshop skins to the game for us to collect.
Anyone else having this bug where if you weapon-switch from d/x to shortbow and immediately fire off a cluster bomb, it will do a weird mix of heartseeker and cluster bomb animation, and fire off the cluster bomb at your feet, no matter where you are aiming the targeting reticule?
Is this a new bug with the patch? If you stand still it will look like you’re throwing a cluster bomb with your hands, looks really awesome, but annoying bug when you’re actually trying to fight.
Suggestions:
Signet of Agility removes ALL conditions on you.
Fleet of Foot: Moved to Grandmaster tier and removes 1 condition on dodge (hard to catch moves to master since it’s a poorly designed trait)
Shadow return: With the next update nerfing the hell out of this would be nice if it could remove TWO conditions instead of 1.TLDR: Our condition removal is pathetic and so is our sustain and this need some HUGE Buffs.
IMO thief condition removal is fine. You have sword 2, shadowstep, lyssa runes, and the stealth heal skill if you choose to pick it. The options for even more condi removal are there, but you choose not to pick them.
Signet of agility would be broken if it removed all conditions.
I do think the shadow return nerf is a bit much though…. but that doesn’t change the fact that thieves still have ample condi removal. This skill is a whole different story though so i wont get into it. I just believe thieves need instant shadow return in spvp only.
So if you want to play a p/p or d/p thief that doesnt abuse stealth, or a SB thief, and you really like withdraw or SoM you’re basicly forced to use a runeset and an elite to get okay condi removal every 45 sec. That doesn’t seem right. There should be some better condi removal in another traitline, something active that removes damaging conditions.
Oh, and with the permastealth removal, can you make it so d/p thiefs benefit from the 1 second extra stealth trait. Please?
Welcome to the club. Try getting good condi removal on engi without elexir. Try getting good condi removal on warr without cleansing ire. Try getting good condi removal on guard without going into defensive trees. Try getting good condi removal on ranger without empathetic bond. Try getting good condi removal on Mes without having to spec into a useless tree or filling up your toolbar. etc…
Every class has to make sacrifices for condi removal. I dont see why thieves should be any different. You guys have plenty of clears to start with.
It’s just stupid that in this condi-heavy meta, all thief condi removal is tied to stealth, nullifying specs that doesn’t use stealth.

I’m addicted to reading the forums, reading about the classes, planning what I want to play the next time i log on.
But then I log on and I just want to log off again…
Try buncing up a group of mobs, drop caltrops and spam death blossom (d/d), I found that quite easy as i leveled up my thief, when you run out of initiative just kite em around, they will be crippled and bleed to death. Maybe get leave caltrops on dodge trait aswell.
Why do you want to play with elitists like that anyway?
Step 1: get 2 berserker daggers and a berserker shortbow. Get some standard sigils like force and air or whatever.
Step 2: go to the mists and practice hitting number 5 with the dagger on moving golems
Step 3: get some semi tanky gear like cavalier and valkyrie, giving you high crit dmg while maintaining some survivability, get superior runes of speed
Step 4: spec x/30/30/x/x with hidden killer, 2 ini back on stealth, condi removal in stealth, heal in stealth
Step 5: equip shadowstep, shadow refuge, blinding powder
And that’s about it. You’re now an unkillable roaming machine, atleast untill the december patch.
The common mentality in this game for a while now is that the best defense is a good offence. People usually stack as much damage as possible and rely on reflexes to keep them alive. In that kind of environment, sword and board might not be the most optimal. Remember, no tanks. Which means damage mitigation is going to be generally lacking, but not impossible. A shield really acts more as a control offhand weapon then it would as some kind of damage sponge. The blocking ability has generally such a long cooldown that it is not something to really rely on.
Overall though, play what you like the most. Don’t let others dictate how you should enjoy the game, but of course; it never hurts to learn from the experience of other players so that you won’t repeat their mistakes.
edit: Sent you some starting cash and some bags in your mailbox. I suggest you keep your gear updated to your level at least every 10 levels and no higher than green quality. At least for 1-79
I appreciate that. But why wouldn’t I want to go above green equipment?
Just because it’s kind of a waste of money to pay that much for leveling gear. But I wouldn’t worry to much about gear already.
So … since I too like a particular scepter aesthetic for my necro, is there a primarily scepter-based build that’s viable for PvE and WvW? I know this topic is a bit old but I didn’t see a build posted that people had actually played.
I am still leveling my necro but http://youtu.be/ptGYVTaDrOo seems to be a pretty effective build and a really in depth review of it.
Great, I’ll check it out! Thanks so much.
I’m a very noob necro and I don’t play a lot but I really am enjoying what I have played of it. Very very different than my ele.
I’m a pretty new necro too, but this spec seems to work fine in wvw, just spam your specter/dagger, skills into DS 5→4→3, people just melt. It’s a pretty standard build I think.

Isn’t Dhuumfire exacly the same as the engineer burning trait? Except that engineers have it lower in the tree. I think it’s fine but maybe they should move the fear traits? Combine them and make them grandmaster or something?
Hm, maybe. What’s weird though is, say you get a chest every 500, what happens when you get to 1000, do you get a 500 one AND a 1000 one? Same goes for 2000, in theory you should get 3 chests at 2000 then.
I be confuzzled.
Look north on your map, in the snowy region, there’s a 70-80 zone there with hearts and stuff.
I’m confused as to how this works. It’s not very well explained in-game. Say I have 5000 points. Do I then get my retroactive chests like: day 1: 100 pt chest, day 2: 500 pt chest, day 3: 1000 pt chest etc etc, and after 2500 there will be a 3000 one etc going up to 5000? Or, do I get the 100 pt chest, then 500 etc and it all adds up to my 5000 points, meaning i will get 100+500+1000+1500+2000=5100 achieve points?
And how does it work with new points I earn. Will i get a 100 pt chest for every 100 achieve points i get, and for every 500 I get the 500 one and so on? Meaning for 500 points i get 6 chests total?
The chests are not cumulative, they’re benchmarks.
Right, so I’ll get a chest everyday untill I’ve caught up with my total points. And I’ll get chests every 100, 500, 1000 I earn from now on? Am I right?
I may just be slow, but for me Anet did a bad job explaining anything about this update.. Like the new stuff with crafting mats, where can I access info about this? (I know about Dulfy, but I’d like to get enough info ingame to know what the hell I’m supposed to do)

So I’m a new warrior (level 45) thinking about future build for wvw. I want a build that can be on the frontline and smash into zergs with my hammer and using GS for mobility/evade and occasional HB whenever I can land it. I also want to have a chance in small fights.
This is what I’ve got so far: http://gw2skills.net/editor/?fIAQJASRjcOxwxO+OMxBEkCNkLOKUCmQ9wOqj4A-jEyAYrAREASgFRjtMWENWFDm+cR1KXAvBjWtMAMjB-w
Conditions will be dealth with by my -condi duration food and runes, while i leap around with the hammer stunning everything in my path.
What would you change with this setup? All help appreciated.
Steel Chest has an exotic item. Not Silver chest there aren’t any silver ones.
Oh yeah, it was the first time getting one, so I wasn’t sure what it was called.
Wooden is for rare. Silver Chest is for exotic, in my experience.
Downed state is fine, but they should change it so you don’t ress faster with more people. Both downed state ressing and defeated ressing should go at the same slow speed no matter how many are doing it.
i’m running 25 mb/s down and 12 mb/s up, have a 2.8 ghz processor (i know it’s not the fastest, but still – it handled Aion on max settings in their global wvw just fine), video card: EVGA SSC 02G-P4-3653-KR GeForce GTX 650 Ti 2GB 128-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 x16 HDCP Ready Video Card
8 gb of ram
and am running windows 7….
when i auto-detect settings, most of mine are detected at max (high) level…
BUT, even in WVW, on BEST PERFORMANCE, i drop down to 6 fps easily even if it’s not a big zerg. Please get better dedicated servers…we’re paying good money for this game (assuming most people are like me and have purchased several gems with real cash – i’m at about $150 so far).
Dude, low fps is not a problem with Anets servers, that is a totally different problem routed deeper in the core of how the game is designed.
Well he hasn’t filled in all his gear, maybe he could start with that. :P And two 5% crit sigils don’t stack.
Hey Koroshi, I love watching your stream.
Love it when you explain everything you do, you are so calm in the heat of battle. Just one thing, why don’t you put your gear and traits on a site like www.gw2skills.net (my favourite), should save some time from making those pictures, and easier for us to see.
Another tip with Static Shield is that you can go into any of your kits and keep putting pressure while blocking.
Keep it up.
Engineer is my latest 80, so I’m fairly new. I play almost exclusively WvW and atm I’m running a power grenade build with tool kit, rocket boots(yep) and pistol/shield. I almost never lose 1v1’s and feel I can contribute whenever I run with a zerg. I can get off 3 blast finishers in the healing turrets water field, and I hit like a truck whenever I can set up my grenade “burst”. I also have around 1700 toughness.
Used to play a condi build but got tired of it, and I don’t like the fire-and-forget gameplay of elixirs/hgh, so I came up with this.
Part of me feels with a lot of the Open World raids the mechanics are hidden by the number of people doing them. Take for example Jormag, 2nd part you have to break crystals to let golems through to blow up the walls, while also dealing with Vets. Really cool interesting mechanics. I’ve done Jormag with 10 people and it is an amazingly fun fight.
However what most people experience of the Dragons is standing on a hill auto-attacking (with bad lag), as only a couple of people kite the vets and destroy the crystals. In otherwords the HP of the Dragon Scale, the mechanics don’t well.
I personally would love the option as a Guild to open an instanced version of Jormag, and run it with 20-30 guild mates rather than open world and get the whole experience with mates.
This is what I would love to see as a “Raid”. And I do think there is a place for it in the game.
This, a thousand times this! All the cool world bosses (Jormag, some of the better temples in Orr, Harati chain etc) should be available as instances for guilds, with choosable difficulty (10-man, 15-man, 20-man etc). You can also add more rewards(bigger chance of exotics/precursor drop?) for doing it with less people.
Imagine a 10-man Grenth, that would be awesome. This is also already in the game so not much work for Anet. Make it part of guild missions.
When I have Stability and use Rocket Boots, I get the “Immune” message and I don’t launch back, is this intended? Really? I’m staying away from guardians….
another thing; the recent confusion nerf more or less completely got rid of the usefulness of pry bar altogether.
Aside from the fact that it hits like a truck hauling another truck.
The auto attack on the bomb kit almost hits for as much, sadly.
Dunno, I’ve crit people over 5k in WvW with pry bar.
Yes it has a 10 second cooldown, and no 2 of them doesn’t work.
Hello fellow engeeneers
Just trying out power nades in wvw. I was wondering which adept and master traits people prefer for this kind of spec. I’ve gotten it down to these choices to pick from:
Adept: Incendiary Powder (burning) or Empowering Adrenaline (5% damage when endurance is not full) I basicly have no condi damage and perma-vigor.
Master: Short Fuse (20% cd reduce on nades) or Explosive Powder (10% damage on explosions)
My stats are something like:
2k – 2.4k power
30% crit
70% crit damage
So I’m about to pick up my 2nd ascended item, from guild commendations. I already have an all-stat amulet. I thought all-stat would be the best since I benefit from all the stats, and I can use it in every build. It also has more stats in total than the others. Should I get another all-stat(accessory)? I’m using a confusion bomb build atm trying to get both some power and condition damage, while keeping my toughness at acceptable levels.
What did you pick for your engineer?
This is the best gw2 video I’ve seen yet. Amazing work, the editing and music was really well put together. I don’t even usually listen to this sort of music but I really like it now. :P
100nades mechanic was intended, blinding powder + heart seeker is a bug, you leap then damage. not damage then leap, and for some reason this doesn’t remove stealth…
Do you even understand how useless the “leap + smoke” combo effect would be if you got stealthed during the leap and not after the skill did it’s damage? The ANet guy that coded that combo field effect probably saw it and made it specifically apply stealth AFTER the leap finished all it’s animation and damage and not right when it crosses the smoke field on purpose.
Then our smoke bomb+BOB combo should do the same.
I thought you were gonna suggest a system where you saved your armor and weapon skins in an in-game armory, for reuse any time you wanted. That would be great. It sucks having to get another of the same stat exotic just because you don’t want to lose a particular skin.
Then I remembered “that game”..
Anyway, I support my initial thought. :P
I think they will share cooldown, so If one proc the other one will go on cooldown. I tried using Sigil of Purity (remove condition on crit) with Sigil of Geomancy (bleed nearby foes on weapon swap) and they didn’t work very well. Purity would proc all the time so Geomancy almost never went off.
Doesn’t ANET check before they ban someone? This is really bad if true, I hope she can get her account back.
Hey engineers. I have just hit 80 on my engineer, I love this class because of the different playstyles you can achieve, even though most of them might not be viable (according to this place atleast :p).
http://gw2skills.net/editor/?fcAQJAqal0p6ZnvSyF1LJxIFdW0gUkX9KqQ+/oQusF
This is my build right now. I run almost exclusivly WvW, either roaming or in a big guild group.
I have a mix of rabid jewelry with ruby orbs, an all-stat amulet(ascended) and some rampager, soldiers and carrion armor. Basicly I want to do good condi AND direct damage with the bomb/tool kit, stacking confusion along the way. I have 100% condi duration with veggie pizza’s etc. Pretty standard build I think, but I DO NOT want to use grenades. I just can’t handle them, cant be kitten to “learn” them, and I hate the button-mashing.
So onto my question, can a mixed power/crit/condi spec work? I think I have around 1450-1500 power, 700-800 condi damage and 40-50 crit chance+35 crit damage right now. My toughness is abit low in the 1300 region. 19-20k health depending on WvW buffs. This is without any food buffs.
I’m thinking of dropping 10 pts from alchemy for coated bullets when I am zerging with my guild, I can’t always run in with my bombs and I need a ranged AOE option. I do lose the vigor and 1k health though. And yes, I need speedy kits to function properly.
But after all this rambling I can’t help but feel I would be better off just going HGH might stacking? I would also get condi removal that way, since the build I have right now only has 1 condi removal in med kit. But I don’t want to lose bomb and tool kit.
TLDR; Should I give up my “balanced stat” route and focus on condition damage/precicion? And if so would grenades work better with that compared to bomb kit? Or would I be better off going HGH might stacking, losing my kits and gaining condi removal+lots of might/boons.
Would love some input from more experienced engineers on my build and the dilemmas I’m facing.
PS: I do love that 10 second confusion watching thiefs spam 2 theirselves to death.
Bugged on Aurora Glade
Anyone else experience this with amd cards?
So is my i5 2500k 4.3ghz bottlenecking my sapphire 7970? I never get 45 fps in huge fights even on low..
Does anyone really run WvW with maxed out settings (ultra shadows etc) and not drop to painfully low fps in the biggest zergs? I have an i5 2500k at 4.3 ghz and I get between 20-30 fps in the middle of these fights. Dropping all my settings down to the lowest only gives me about 10 extra fps, so 25-40 fps in huge zergs on lowest settings.
Someone told me yesterday that they ran WvW on ultra with no noticeable lag, he said he had an i7 cpu at 2.6 ghz or something, that’s all the info I could get other than “i built this pc for 1100£”.
So, who here runs WvW smoothly on max settings in huge fights, please post your pc specs.
Well I didnt have the problem with my old Nvidia card, may be AMD related. I’m mostly worried that something is wrong with my card, but it doesn’t happen in other games. The “going to windows” after loading i can deal with, but the super fast flashes when im playing is very irritating and making me not want to play anymore.
Also last night i noticed some crazy shadows bugging out in eternal battleground jumping puzzle.
So I just upgraded my GFX card from a Nvidia to AMD. I used to have that white texture problem with nvidia, which is gone now. But I have a new (minor I guess) problem. At the very end of loading screens the game will automaticly go into windows (like alt-tab’ing) and the screen will flash between windows and GW2 for a couple of seconds, before I get back in the game when the loading is done. This flashing also happens occasionally when I’m playing, but it’s super fast, so fast that all i see is a flash, or flicker. It’s very annoying and was wondering if anyone else have the same problem?
sapphire 7970 vapor-x 3gb, 13.1 catalyst drivers.
I’m pretty sure whoever watches SotG knows what each class are supposed to do, you don’t need to tell us over and over again. It’s also pretty embarassing that someone working on class balance needs notes to know this. And spell names too.
