You can get all armor except legs with P/V/T for karma in the Orr temples, 42k karma each. Google it to find which one are in what temple etc. The downside is that the temples need to be opened through a group event, but if your server is fairly active it shouldn’t be a problem.
I’m also currently wondering what to gear for as D/D. I got PVT armor, but what to put in my jewelry? On the one side I want more survivability (I have about 19k health atm, with some green gear) but on the other I’d like to kill abit faster aswell. >.< This is for wvw btw.
Get a Major Sigil of Battle at level 39.
Most of them, except 2 you can see in roostapro’s link. You can’t get p/v/t legs though. WvW or AC exp for legs. The monk runes you get with the AC gear are also very good. 20% boon duration I think for 2 pieces.
Ascended gear I would assume? Basicly that you can get better gear to use in wvw by farming pve for ages.
I have a similar question but for dagger/dagger use. I’ve just gotten my ele to 80 and about to start gearing up but I don’t want to waste precious gold. I’m running mostly wvw and some dungeons and fractals here and there.
At the moment I’ve got my eye on the karma set since I have about 200k karma to spend. So that’s power, vitality, toughness. But I don’t know what to slot in my rings, accessories and weapons. I’m thinking berserkers or clerics, or a mix? I don’t want to be squishy but I also want to be able to kill things with formidable speed. Should I bother with condition damage? I have the karka trinket with +25 to all stats which is nice since I benefit from all those stats.
Could use some input.. this became longer than intended, lol.
I’m just leveling my Ele but what do you guys think about running cantrip mastery instead of soothing disruption on d/d? I’ll be using 3 cantrips most likely and will get my vigor from renewing stamina.
And will cleansing water + cleansing wave traits together with elemental attunement give you 2 condition removals when you go into water? How big is the radius for allies on those 3 traits?
It was the same for me, at the start I was just amazed at all the cool skills (“I can pound stuff with a giant fire spike and send a fiery pheonix to blow’em up!”), then I started dying.. alot.
I would suggest dagger/dagger, when you get to level 30 respec into 20 arcana. The reduced cooldown on attunement swapping makes everything just smoother. My “rotation” for mobs is something like: (air)Ride the Lightning -> updraft -> Shocking Aura ->(fire) Burning Speed -> Flame Breath -> Ring of Fire -> (earth) Earthquake(combo with Ring of Fire for might stacks) -> Ring of Earth. I improvise in other spells but this is my bread and butter for just killing hoards of mobs. :P Fire Grab is a nice bonus whenever of cooldown. Ligthning Hammer is also good for just killing stuff with almost perma-blind, though very faceroll-ish.
You can take on alot of mobs at the same time like this if you pay attention to when to dodge and when to go into water to slow them down, kite around and heal yourself. You can pretty much solo any melee champion, constantly kiting around. Churning Earth with it’s long cast time is good to use with Lightning Flash(teleport, 900 range). If you see a bunch of mobs, initiate combat with a Churning Earth, teleporting into them just before the spell goes off.
Also I suggest getting a Sigil of Battle in one of your weapons, since every attunement change counts as a weapon switch, you get alot of might stacks this way.
You can’t spec 20 into anything until you are level 40.
As a side note, are you serious though about attunement swapping counting as weapon swapping for sigils? I thought we just couldn’t use those sigils because we couldn’t weapon swap. If that’s true, you have just made my night.
Sorry, of course level 40. And yes, attunement swapping counts as a weapon switch, so you can get 3 stacks of might every time you swap attunement, or 50% endurance. They don’t seem to work together though, I have both right now and only get the might stacks, no endurance.

The bug topic was deleted
I know, i just got the PM from a mod telling me i’m not allowed to post it.
Not sure what to make of that to be honest, was it an intentional change then and not considered a bug?.
What?! Now we really need an answer.. come on devs!
It isn’t a boon anyway, so yeah a bug fix.
What the dev should be replying to is the RTL bug thread!
The long hair clipping with cultural armor is just ridiculous. Even with a hood, the hood clips through the tier 1 light shoulders. It’s so annoying!
Does anyone know a nice looking hood or something that will hide my hair but not clip through the tier1 light shoulders? Love them shoulders but clipping ruins it.
But you can get invited and do dungeons with people from different servers, that’s kinda the point.
You only have to be in the same zone when you enter the dungeon I think.
You can right click on a party member and join whatever overflow they’re in. You can try finding groups on this site http://gw2lfg.com/lfgs
A = Strafe Left
D = Strafe Right
1-5 = Weapon Skills
Shift + 1-4 = Attunements
Q, E, R, G and mouse5 = Healing, utilities and elite
First off, the set looks freaking bad kitten I love it.
But the clipping ruins it, my hair clips through the mantle in the back so it looks really horrible when you have long hair. I dont have any hands either anymore, the gloves just magically float an inch below my arms.
Please please fix this.. I love the set and can get over the magic floating gloves, but my hair clipping in a place I HAVE to look all the time (it’s basicly in the middle of the screen) ruins it.
So signet of air + zephyr’s speed won’t give 20%?
What about zerphyr+one with air, will it go 10% + 5% every 10 seconds upto 25%?
I’ve also abandoned my thief for an ele! I’m just level 27 atm but I’m pretty sure I’ve had more fun with it than I have in the last 2 months on my thief. :p I just came to realise thiefs can be pretty boring, spamming mostly1-3 skills to do damage. D/D? Spam 1+5. S/D? Spam 1+5. P/D? You guessed it, spam 1+5.
Keep in mind that between Necro and Elementalist you have one of the tankiest (necromancer, lots of hp plus a form that acts as a 2nd health bar when you trigger it) and the most squishy (Elementalist, lowest hp in the game with thief, cloth armor) classes.
Based on personal preferance I would go Elementalist, just find them more engaging to play.
I’d really like some confirmation on this. I made my warrior the fattest Charr you can find, so I wanna know if I should reroll him or not, lol. Also want to change his name. :’(
Sword has on demand condition removal too.
When leveling with D/D for groups of 3 mobs I just used death blossom 3 times, then ran around throwing in another death blossom when I got initiative back. Used the trait for 15 base initiative.
An idea I had for Ascended gear is to have normal exotic stats PLUS magic find. Then you will get something out of it but not have more power than people without it.
If this isn’t downgraded to exotic level in WvW it’s a huge mistake. If not, it’s great for everyone IMO. PvE people get something to do and WvW’ers won’t be affected.
What worries me is there’s no mention either way so I’m assuming it will be usable in WvW.
^Nyoka 9/10. Cool name, rolls of the tounge nicely.
I have 3 charrs.
Thief – Righor (I didn’t know I could have a last name kitten it!)
Engineer – Grimm Beefguard
Warrior – Felix Balefury
I wanna switch the engineer and warrior’s name though.
Also I kinda want to change Balefury to Balefist lol.
Roll sword/dagger with shadowstep and infiltrators signet? you have 3 “blinks” there. Spec survivability, though we’ll never have 30k hp. :p
So what happened on friday night? When the game “ended” and the score popped up AM were second but then Gunnar’s jumped to second before everyone got ported out.
Can someone explain how the scoring works in wvw? I thought the score you had from keeps, camps and what not got added to the total score each time the timer went to zero, but see points being added all the time.
Our development team reviews play input on a regular basis. They are aware of this suggestion, but have not yet reached a decision on what changes, if any, they will make to targeting.
There is a lot going on right now with the upcoming event, but after that, the team will take a look at a lot of different game elements, and may make some changes in the future.
Sorry I don’t have more specific information, but you can be sure this is not being ignored or rejected without due consideration.
Thanks for understanding.
On a slightly related note; please make it so when you clear your target (untarget something) auto-attack stops firing. It’s so annoying when you accidentaly target something far away, you untarget it, and your character keeps firing and then you get in range and you pull the mob.
Started an elementalist, got bored at level 3, lol. What can I say, cooldowns vs a resource system like initiative? No brainer, really.
It was amazing tonight, overtaking AM in the last tick before reset. Gunnars Hold will prevail!
And it will be great to rematch this coming week.
Thanks guys, I’ll try out some different stuff in sPvP.
bloodymarx: Hidden Thief is the one that gives you 2 seconds of stealth on steal.
Thanks, I’ll check it out.
In Fields of Ruin (30-40) you take the portal from Divinity’s Reach and start questing from the town going south. Only in the north are mobs level 37+.
I just started using the sword after playing since release. I used it once but went back to daggers since it seemed more pvp oriented to me. But now that I’ve finally gotten into sPvP I tried s/d setup and it’s really fun to play. I was getting bored with my thief but I’m back with a vengeance now after trying the sword.
Now though I need to gather some gear for when I’m playing WvW or just general pve stuff. What do people recommend gear and specc wise for this? I can never decide on a specc so I’ll try out many of them but I’d like some advice from people more experienced with this. Just now I’m thinking of speccs like 10/0/30/15/15 or 0/0/30/25/15 or variations of those. Or should I go more into critical strikes like the OP here?
Shadow Arts I’m thinking Infsion of Shadow, Shadows Embrace (does it tick the moment I enter stealth and then 3 seconds after?) and then either Shadow Rejuvenation, Cloaked in Shadows or even Hidden Thief? What’s everyones thoughs here? What about fleet footed? SoS gives 25% speed in combat, right? So It’s only an 8% increase when using the signet, seems lackluster.
Cheers for all good advice.
Well for a purely ranged you could either roll a warrior with rifle/longbow or go for a ranger, just try them out abit and see for yourself.
Engineers aren’t that great as purely ranged characters, they use alot of different tools that mostly work best at mid to close range. Only grenade kit has good ranged dps.
Magic find on foods are %. The food you’re using probably has an incomplete tooltip, like alot of tooltips are unfortunately. It adds to your total MF like anything else.
Maybe give us some info on what you are struggling with on your engineer? What is your playstyle with it. Are you dodging out of stuff? I’m also leveling an engineer at the moment and haven’t had much problems with solo play, so maybe I can give you some tips if you can give some info.
On the opposite side of the spectrum, i just rolled a thief, threw some garnet pebbles in my armor, went to wvwvw at level 3, and am now happily kittentomping people by spamming heartseeker! :>
You’re being sarcastic, right..? If not I must be doing something wrong, cause I can’t do that on my level 80 thief. Maybe I need some garnet pebbles..
No, the example with mesmer does not work at all. When a mesmer switches he gets stats and sigil from the other weapon. Every class takes advantage of their sigil and weapon stats at all times, except for the engineer. How is that fair to you? Why even bother giving kits stats, when you can just make that minor change.
What grinding for a legendary has to do with it I don’t know. Noone is forced to grind for it, it has the same stats as an exotic. Wow, what a perk for engineers, indeed.
Be friendly, when you see someone fighting a bunch of mobs or just one mob, help them finish it off. In this game everyone gets loot and xp aslong as you damage a mob (5% someone said earlier).
When you see a round icon with a skull on it on the minimap or map, it means an npc is dead and can be revived. But if you see a blueish or white symbol that looks abit like this —> \o/ it means there’s another player who is dead or downed and you can go revive them!
Oh, really! I just assumed that since the rare crest didn’t give any more, and that exotic gear didn’t give more than greens, then surely exotic gems followed the same pattern.
Thanks for that bit of info.
I’m pretty sure if you use scepter+dagger with two Crest of the Traveler it’ll give you 6%.
I use superior sigil of luck, it gives 15% fully stacked and stacks up fast when you’re farming in a group.
And exotic gems doesn’t give any more MF than others. My MF set is just greens, I get the same amout of MF as exotics.
Charr vs Norn in Asuran puntball! GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL!
but then it wouldn’t be a daily …..
Sure it would. You can do it once a day or month. But get the option to do it over 2 or 3 days/months.
I approve of this change.
There should be an option in the menu somewhere that makes the camera not re-align behind your character when you run. With that on it will only re-align if you run with both left and right mouse button pressed together.
Also I recommend binding your 7-0 skills to something else. For me atleast getting my hand over there and hitting the right button is just frustrating. Personally I have bound A and D to strafe, since i don’t ever turn around with them, I use the mouse for that. Then I have healing on Q, utility skills on E, R and mouse thumb button. Elite is on G.
Hope that helps.
I love the idea for 2-3 more weapon skills for each weapon combo. Would be great for more character customization. You still get only 5 skills but can swap em out like utilities.
Give them at later levels, cause right now you unlock every utility long before 80 and theres not much to look forward to like you said. Something for an expansion i’d reckon though. It would have to be balanced and tested a lot.
It would be amazing if they added 2-3 extra skills for each weapon combo and allowed you to mix and match 5 out of a total of 7-8 skills. Like utilities are right now. Would add alot more depth and customization to your character.
Thief is very squishy and with dual pistols you have no way of reliably stealthing other than long cooldown utility skills.
Saying that I did some dual pistol leveling on my thief and it’s ok. Can get quite boring though just spamming one ability (unload). The other abilities are too initiative heavy for minor effects. Black Powder has some use but you will quickly run out of initiative spamming that.
I’d go with an engineer just cause at the moment I’m quite bored of my thief and have started leveling an engineer.
I bought a full green MF set tonight, and did a couple of hours of Orr farming. I got more rares than i have ever got in the entire 2 months the game has been out and made about 6g.
I wouldn’t wear it in dungeons or anything but for farming (preferably in a group) it made a huge difference.
