Hi

First of all I would like to add that there is no suggestions sub forum so I thought this might be the next best place to post my ideas. I also thought that the ideas I have would make the game better by making it faster and easier to do certain things which take an unnecessary amount of klicks to achieve. Anyway, to any mods reading this, if there is a suggestions sub forum or something similar, please move this thread to the appropriate location so that it comes to the attention of the developers!

Anyway, without further ado, let me introduce you to my latest invention! the armory! The idea is to make it quick and easy to browse through your equipment & weapons, and store these in the same place(and being able to swap between equipment without having to first take it off of one character, put it in the bank, log into the character you want to play, putting the gear on and THEN doing what you actually want to do).

I would like it to be possible to have a place to store all the equipment I want to keep for nice and easy access, much like the bank lets you store any item you want and make said item occupy one bank slot. The armory will let you store any wearable equipment(armor, accessories, rings, necklaces, weapons).

In the armory tab you can search through your equipment by stats, armor type(light, medium, heavy). alphabeticaly or look at all your available helmets, shoes, pants etc.

Asuming you are currently logged onto a warrior the armory tab will only show armor and other equipment which your current profession can equip.

lets say you have several greatswords and you want to see them you simply type greatsword in the search field and it will show you how many greatswords you have, what stats they are and which character is using each weapon.

Selecting one of these greatswords(or any other type of item with stats on) will simply move the item to the character you are currently using, provided your character can use said item.

So, in a nutshell the armory has:

  • A way to store equipment(accessories, weapons, armor) much like bank tabs
    *A search function to easily locate and look at the items in your posession
    *An easy way to transfer items back and forth from one character to the other

Additional armory tabs could be bought from the gem store.
This feature would only be available to accounts which are not free to play. It could perhaps be used to quickly transfer items from one account to another or some such so this is just a precautionary measure. wether its necessary or not is up to the devs.

Other general QOL improvements

Add improved search functionality into the collections tab!

Make it so I can type in “ectoplasm” or something else in a search box to quickly and easily locate an item! This would be good because it would save time. Not to mention its kinda hard to find stuff if there is too much stuff on the screen(especialy for me with eyesight issues!).

Vendor interaction improvements(more QOL’s)

You could add some options into the options menu which deals specifically with vendor interactions. Lets say there is a predefined option to buy a stack of items of 250(or a number which you can personaly customize up to 250). Upon turning this option on a purchase would ask you “would you like to purchase 250 carrots” or whatever else you are buying and you would only need to klick once to buy a stack of items instead of 250 times and having to klick yes on the same prompt the same amount of times, thats 500 klicks to accomplish something which could be done in one! The added bonus would be players who require alot of items wouldnt have to risk getting carpal tunnel at the end of the day!

A second option(or button) could be added which says “quick buy” or something like that. This would go past the need to even answer yes or no on the prompt wether you want to buy an item or not. And lets say you have the buy stacks option turned on you could just quickly klick 5 times to buy 5 stacks(or how many you would want and could afford).

Another good thing would be to have an option to automaticaly sell junk upon interacting with a vendor.

Hi!

I have been seeing quite a few threads being worried for and complaining about the amount of hero points needed to unlock their elite specializations. Its going to recquire 400 hero points to unlock each elite specialization respectively so even if you have a couple of characters with full map completion you wont be able to unlock everything on day one(unless you pvp where everything will be available from the very beginning).

The point is, this is actually a good thing! For those of us who have full map completion we can have half the cake on day one and then slowly savour the other half as we play the game.

This was a deliberate choice by the developers and i applaud them for not giving me all my christmas presents to just tear open all at once! Trust me when I say this, for the majority of players this is going to create some sense of accomplishment and joy as you get to unlock new skills, traits, weapons, skins, runes and sigils.

so, lets take a scenario(which most likely will never happen). you get a free legendary of your choice dropped into your mailbox by the developers. How long do you expect you will feel that sense of accomplishment if you get everything handed to you on a silver platter? All of three seconds or less i reckon.

Anyway, thank you for giving me half my cake and letting me savour the other half at my own pace. Im very much looking forward to unlocking my reaper specialization along with the rest of them in due time.

Tempest & Warhorn confirmed – Feedback [merged]

I dont understand all the hate towards the tempest and the warhorn. I think warhorn seems to fit the theme(altho I have to admit I was surprised it was a close range weapon for elementalist). Personaly I was hoping to get double pistol for elementalist even though it probably doesnt make a whole lot of sense lore wise but man would that have been cool!

Im looking forward to using the warhorn! The animations are really awesome and it seems to be a very good option for aura/boon share ele. Im a little disappointed warhorn didnt end up being a long range weapon but I will give it a try and i think it will be good or at the very least it adds alot of flavor to the class in my opinion.

wardrobe color bug

Hi!

There seems to be a bug with the wardrobe which occurs when you select a color for your armor. when you klick apply it turns every other armor piece you have to the same color. Not that this is a bug merely while viewing the armor and applying the color does not mean all your other gear has that color. It sure makes previewing changes alot more difficult.

Also! I stopped saving cookies in my internet browser recently(I only save them temporarily but they are deleted as soon as i close a window or the browser.) Im not sure if that could be causing me not to recieve authentication e-mails.

Hi!

Just now I logged into the game(currently at the launcher) and usually when loging in I always have to validate the login attempt with a notification email. However, this time there was no prompt to validate the login attempt. Instead I was logged in straight away.

I know I did try to disable email authentication once but this was more than two years ago(and the attempt to do so was unsuccessful) so now im suspecting either a technical problem with the authentication, someone tampering with my email account or the service not working as intended(altho the latter option seems unlikely as players would most likely be notified if that was the case).
Its also possible its just a one time occurance but could someone from Arena Net with the proper know-how take a look so that nobody has tampered with my accounts?

Im actually immensely happy there isnt a gear treadmill! Feels so awful if all my progress is invalidated in one fel swoop! Sure there is ascended gear to work towards and I think thats a good thing in terms of endgame content.

(although cloth wearers have it rough: needing 36 bolts of damask for one set of ascended armor AND each spool of silk thread is vastly more expensive to craft than elonian leather squares or deldrimor steel ingots).

Im hoping arenanet takes cooking in a fun and interesting direction once they decide to increase the skill cap. Cooking was a very fun profession to level up so im hoping arenanet gets creative with this one. There’s already a plethora of foods which increase stats so im hoping for something which alters skills in some way.

In regards to jewelcrafting I hope I will be able to craft ascended trinkets(accessories) because I rarely get to do guild missions and I have always wanted to craft my own gear in almost every MMO I have played.

Just to clarify: I didnt mean jewelcrafting and cooking at the max skill level should be exclusive to HOT. Im just curious why these professions have’nt recieved the same treatment as the others. I mean, its been quite a while. Hence why I was wondering if they will be bumped up sometime closer to the release of the expansion

Maybe Anet could branch cooking and do something fun with it(I dont know exactly what). Maybe make foods which specifically alter certain types of skills in some way(meditations, signets, clones, traps etc)

Well, I guess I’ll have to wait and see like everyone else! I just hope its not too far off into the future. Feels like it’s something that’s kind of long overdue.

Personaly I would love to start my own food cart and take bloodstone dust to the streets!(Haha!)

Hi!

There’s been alot of talk about things like specializations, masteries and revenants on the forums since the announcement of the expansion but what worries me is that not only has the crafting forum disappeared but cooking and jewelcrafting has yet to recieve a bump up to the maximum crafting level(500). My question is, will heart of thorns remedy this in any way or is that something which will be added post expansion?

Personaly I think its time that these skills get the upgrade all the other crafting skills got with the introduction of ascended crafting. Ascended crafting was introduced a long time ago and its long overdue that cooking and jewelcrafting recieves the same treatment.

Hey!

Well…. the event is bugged. When I finally got to do the last battle against scarlets holograms I was like “yeah, finally!” but no… how could I expect anything less than what I found out to be a bugged event. I was floating in the air for about 10 minutes, unable to move, unable to attack and unable to do anything at all. I had to get hit by one of the boss attacks 10 minutes into the fight before I was knocked onto the ground and could finally participate. After the event I was expecting to get some loot and the “one step closer…” achievement but I didnt get that either!!! Can you guys fix it so it works before the end of the living story, PLEASE???

Mesmer is also very much pigeonholed into melee considering the lack of good ranged options. Its not that I dislike melee combat but I always pictured my mesmer to do ranged combat and attack from a distance.

Are you talking PvE or PvP here?

In PvE, everyone is pigeonholed into melee combat. That’s just the way PvE efficiency works.

In PvP, Greatsword is a fantastic weapon, no complaints.

Im talking purely pve, I dont have any pvp experience in this game. Although I would imagine greatsword being decent in pvp

Im well aware that greatsword is a weapon better suited for pvp. Just by looking at the skills and their functionality it should be obvious to most players that greatsword shines in pvp situations. The question is, why should it only be viable in pvp? Why cant it be viable in both pvp/pve?

Also, the reason I would want it changed is because mesmer lacks good ranged options. Sure, there is the pistol but there isnt anything really good to combo that with. Scepter can probably be allright in some circumstances but it still doesnt feel right even though I have personally tried to like it.

Dont get me wrong, gs works better in pvp but im more of a pve player and I dont have all that many options if I want to play ranged. Dont get me wrong, staff is an excellent ranged weapon but sometimes its nice to lay down the hurt on your unsuspecting victims

Pistols viable?

I allready have all the other professions lvled to max, thief is the only one I am lacking and it would be fun to learn to play a new class. As I stated before I have tried to play thief on several occasions, but, as i also mentioned, I picked pistol/pistol so it was VERY difficult to do damage to enemies and having multiple enemies hacking away at my health usually resulted in my death.

Im still going to make a thief once I can afford the character slot(after gearing up my necromancer main) and I would still want to play with pistols, maybe not in both hands, as it doesnt seem very good at the moment, but pistols nonetheless. Maybe with a shortbow as my secondary weapon.

Also, are thieves able to dish out consistent aoe damage(with the right build/weaponset)?

Hi!

I am considering making a thief in the future but I really like the idea of playing a thief using pistols. In the past I have made thieves but i never got farther than about lvl 20 as I found guns just didnt play all that well. Anyway. I would love to make a thief when I can afford the extra character slot BUT only if I can be viable as a p/p thief.

So, are pistols good or just awful?

Also, what about making mind stab a thrown attack instead which impales the target, thereby removing one of the boons? Its called mind stab after all Might aswell stab someone with it.

Also, maybe Gs 5 could be a ranged wave attack. the Skill would generate a wave which would just travel forward and knockback or knock down targets it hits? I mean, it would be nice to be able to maintain the distance i allready have without having to use this skill when my enemies are allready glued to my face.

I don’t understand the complaints about Illusionary Wave; it’s excellent for creating much-needed distance and potentially several interrupts giving it good synergy with the Illusions of Vulnerability trait.

Mind Stab would be fine if it stripped more than one boon and the target mark wasn’t so deceptive to its true radius.

The only thing I don’t really like is the auto attack, it does pitiful damage unless you’re far away from your target which is a rare occurrence for this class.

That actually doesnt sound bad(the mind stab thingy). it would be awesome if it had a larger radius because i suppose thats a big gripe of mine(and possibly many others) the radius is tiny, making it hard to hit anything reliably. Maybe it could rip a boon from your target and transfer it to you and/or nearby allies?

also, since alot of the attacks of the greatsword are based around throwing the weapon at your enemy. What about making mind stab a thrown attack which impales the target and rips the boon that way instead?

Hi!

I dont usually post on the forums but I thought I might share some of the ideas I have been pondering on regarding improvements to the greatsword. So, lets take a look at the gratsword. For me its not as great as it could be. I want to love it but in its current state i just… cant.

Outside of the staff the greatsword is the only good ranged option mesmers have but as I said before, its not all that great. gs #1 is a good auto attack. it travels fast and does good amount of damage. Gs #2 is good, you throw your sword and it summons an illusion which uses gs #1 to attack.

Gs #3: Ho boy… dont even get me started on this one. its an awful, awful skill. so, you crouch down to stab your sword through the ground at your opponent and you cant move during the entire animation of the skill. Not only does that make you voulnerable during those few seconds it takes to use the skill but it also has a miniscule radius. I suppose the only redeeming factor to this skill is the power scaling. The scaling is really good but otherwise a very boring, bad and uninspiring skill to use.

Gs #4: Its a really strong skill. I cant really complain about this one. I like it.

Gs #5: only ever useable in pvp and even then it probably isnt enough to keep your opponent away from you for very long.

So, lets get down to business! How to improve the weapon in question. Im only going to focus on the improvement of the gs #3 and #5 skills here but I would love to see some feedback on the suggestions. Im not going to include any numbers or things of that nature as these are only suggestions on a conceptual level.

Gs #3: blade explosion: throw an illusionary sword at your target, exploding on impact and randomly applying vulnerability, bleeding or cripple to foes and randomly applying retaliation, fury or might to allies in a 240 yard radius. Possibly ground targeted or just thrown at the target enemy(the latter one making abit more sense imo).

Now, this skill might only have the application of conditions application to enemies and no boons on allies as it might be a tad op if it did both(not sure if it would, it depends on the cooldown and duration if this stuff but keep in mind, this post is only conceptual, no numbers included!).

the idea behind this skill makes sense to me because most of the greatsword skills seem to be based around throwing your weapon at enemies.

Gs #3: Illusionary retreat(for lack of a better name): roll backwards while planting illusionary blades on the ground, crippling, chilling or immobalizing foes who run over them.

This one is abit iffy… it might suffer from the same lack of usefulness in pve as illusionary wave does but im putting it out there just as a suggestion. The reason behind this idea is to have something which permits you to maintain your distance to your foe(s). Keeping in line with the randomness of boons and conditions these three seemed to be the most appropriate for keeping your distance although mesmers currently do not have access to chill in their condition repertoire.

Gs #5: Sword guard: illusionary blades envelop your body, forming a protective barrier for a short time. applying protection, retaliation or stability and crippling or chilling foes who attack you.

Gs #5: blade barrier: Illusionary blades swirl around you, granting protection or retaliation to you.

Detonate blade barrier: detonate your barrier, inflicting cripple or imobalize on your foes and granting might or fury to allies in a 240 yard radius. This one is sort of the same as the above suggestion but with abit more itility attached to it.

Well, those are my current suggestions. I will try to think of other ideas, possibly for other weapons and post them here if I find them interesting enough.

Well, im buying the rabid set anyway so thats done in a few weeks. I think grinding the materials is far more laborious than doing the dailies and monthly.

Thanks guys, I will try to do that. The idea behind buying the dire gear was that I thought I could still get to 50 % crit chance asuming I have rabid rings, necklace and accessories and maybe a back item(shadow of grenth, ofc!) I will have to do the math on it tho.

Hi!

Well, I posted the same topic on the support forums but I might aswell post it here since it is crafting related after all. I spent about 25 laurels and 15 gold on ascended recipes with dire stats but it doesnt seem as great as i originally thought so I was wondering if there is any possibility to make my character unlearn all the morbach ascended recipes I have on my necromancer and refund the laurels and gold so I could spend it on recipes with rabid stats instead?

I know its a long shot but it never hurts to ask, right? It would save me a ton of time and effort since I have many characters I would like to gear up in the future.

I spent the laurels on boots, chest, pants, shoulders and gloves.

Hi!

Im just wondering if its possible to get a refund on laurels and gold spent buying ascended recipes? Well, here’s the deal. I bought 4 dire recipes(boots, shoulders, pants and chest) and im not sure I really want dire stats on my necromancer after looking at some calculations.

I know its probably not possible to undo the purchase but maybe just maybe you could roll back my necromancer so i can unlearn those particular recipes and spend the laurels on ascended gear with rabid stats instead? I know its a long shot but it never hurts to ask, right?

also: The timer which is supposed to count the estimated time of posting of an item does NOT work! Even after posting stuff several hours ago it still says whatever item is being bought was posted seconds ago.

Hi!

I seem to be unable to remove at least one item from the my transactions —-> items im buying tab. Im currently trying to remove Berserker’s orichalcum imbued inscription from the list but that doesnt seem to be possible at all. I have tried reloging, exiting the game and loging in again, tried removing it with other characters and pushed the remove button multiple times to no avail.

removing items on sale does not exhibit the same problem.

Server is Far Shiverpeaks(EU)

Scepter is getting buffed next patch.

That we dont know.

Anet was pretty clear with thakittens going to be fixed since its bugged, the orb moves slower than planned, but they were also equally clear that they couldn’t promise us when.

I dont usually post on the forums but since the next patch is a major overhaul of traits for all classes im wondering if Anet will fix our only real ranged weapon in the game: the scepter.

Personally I think the scepter and staff seem like the ranged options that are available for guadian but staff feels like its too much melee for my taste.

It would be nice if the staff was our go-to weapon for ranged AOE. Im not gonna post a whole lot of suggestions on this one but something which would be an improvement is if the skill which adds might stacks(dont remember whakittens called, I believe its #4 on staff), could be cast on the move.

As for scepter: my biggest gripe with the weapon are the #1 & 2 skills. The orb could perhaps travel faster or something along those lines to just plain make it better.

Skill #2 is only ever useful against a target which is completely imobile and it could use some lovin. I had a few ideas where one is to just plain making the are of effect bigger so it wouldnt be so easy to dodge and/or add a few seconds of cripple on it so it could get a few hits off.

Those are my 2 cents and I hope you guys at Anet take a look at making guardian ranged options better.

Ps: im looking forward to the new patch and I cant wait to see what you guys have been cooking up for the rest of us. I think the game is awesome in many, many areas but give us guardians who want to do ranged combat some much needed attention!
