I was a good customer of Anet, I work not grind and this is cheaper than the pub!

I dont have a problem paying for good entertainment, but I agree, Anet messed up on their business model 2 years ago, opted for PvE grind and Esports … and here we are.
Stating the obvious but, 3 years is a long time in MMO land and we worked those maps to death, playing something completely different to what they had in mind.

I believe John Corping had a good look and at how to ‘fix’ it, and maybe there wasn’t enough future for WvW to justify investing. Wrong engine’s, DX sytem, Servers … QQ
Somethings dont patch, and going on the lag problems DC’s and bs, maybe they just cant ‘fix’ it.

I just emptied 2 years worth of mats in to the guild upgrades and then realized I dont want to go get some more. New maps are .. exactly the same layout as the old ones, more difficult to move around and understand, with layers of excruciatingly expensive upgrades.

Final straw for me .. the builds got so complicated, everyone just copys the meta and mashes rotations and no, I will not be investing months of my free time, on Legendary amour. Tuesdays patch wont even scratch the problems of WvW, and PPK wont help now either.

Ill be back to check it out (no you cant have my stuff), I made a lot of friends here and good times and really good fights

I couldn’t finish HoT as I keep getting kicked , so I installed 64 bit and now the big fights are unplayable in PvE and WvW

I spent 2 months in PvE then found WvW. That was almost exactly 3 years ago .. and im worried. I don’t mind learning a new map but, we got a big problem if they’re too confusing and big to attract new players and, keep them on the map.

I hoped this opportunity would give us a chance to grow the game .. for me it starts with the build, then the strategy and coordination, hundreds of real people playing roamers, guilds, scouts and havoc squads lining up against another server on a TS channel … that was my WvWvW and when a server is playing all 4 maps, its a beautiful thing.

I’ve been leveling my Necro and Mez, checking out the map ( echo … echo.. ). I hope everyone will come back, I think of all the builds we want to try out, new armor and weapons, the new skills I want to use in WvW. I can already beat the boss in PvE why would I bother collecting all that kitten without WvW .. right?

Biggest problem now is how to play these maps? They are very big and its a long way between WP’s. I cant see how to defend this much area with 5 ppl overnight. Face it, with out defenders, it gets very boring indeed !

We need the servers re-shuffled and soon, but most important we need Home Servers, with out it there is no defenders and no WvW. I would like them to open up the US/EU divide and let us have proper 24h gaming. And we need something to fight for, Server Rank, Server PPT, Server PPK .. I don’t care as long as the numbers work .. please.

The maps .. we can manage .. but the only NPC’s on a WvW map should be guards. Ok, environment you can keep .. but NO .. repeat NO…. jumping puzzles!

• Some PvE and casual WvW players (at least for dailys and tournaments) got to like their old server name and got to dislike / mock the others. Get the PvE and PvP players their own server with the permant guest on a WvW server. If they want to play WvW they will get to join that server temporarily in the match. If you want to change your permanent guest server, you have to pay too – considering the WvW ranking as any WvW player would have to. WvW enemys will see only the WvW server name, your own people can see your PvE server name to help the commanders. Why would you stay on a PvE server or a WvW server? Only on a PvE server you´ll get the WvW boni but from the best WvW server in the match. On the other hand in the queue for the map every WvW server inhabitant is preferred to a PvE server inhabitant.

The information they gather from it could be the solution to a lot of problems, if up till now we haven’t been counted separately to the PvE, it would explain a lot too.

I remember when the ‘Wings’ came out, a TP only item, and about 60% maybe more of the BL map was wearing them. So I think we spend money on bling just the same as the rest of the game.

Don’t kid your self we keep Anet very happy with our impulse buying. I suspect if you actually saw the numbers you’d run straight back to the arms of the Korean games. They actually give you something to improve your game when you spend that kinda money!

Im glad to see these posts rejecting the myth the WvW is underpopulated, niche or doesn’t spend money on gems. That’s rubbish. We just don’t have the numbers to prove it and wont get them.

The ppl who stay in WvW are their core customers and the longer we stay the more money they make out of us. The fact that so many of us stay and play for no rewards has made us put our hands in our pockets to pay for the bling that the PvE farmers would never need to.

WvW was their End-game, it didn’t work as conceived, but we played it anyway, because we found something different which we could enjoy.

I don’t underestimate the impact he’s had in creating a real and exciting eSPORTS option out of PvP, the Tournaments and cash prizes they’re getting now are impressive compared to the investment weve seen in WW over the last 2 years. No doubt, he’s done a great job.

You know there are alot of in-game events I have never insisted, that someone write me an apology.

Perhaps I didn’t make the point clearly enough .. If someone sells you something and then disrupts that service, or fails to supply that service … they are under European, American and international law, required to refund or remunerate the customer. The issue of showing ‘good faith’ is a legal term .. basically, if you promise something you are expected to do it.

My service has been badly disrupted .. and I haven’t been shown good faith or even basic courtesy or a response to my complaint.

Allot of people are without a game this week and I think were owed an apology by Josh Davis and some fixes by the people who set it up, cos I’m willing to bet Mr. Davis didn’t program it.

If you want to give us something to do and get more PvE’rs in to WvW we have Tournaments that worked before, use tried and tested events and a bit of sense given the Hacker/ Exploit problems that Anet have. We sure as hell can’t control it!!

Don’t blame me if it all goes wrong and the forums have 70 simultaneous posts screaming for help .. deal with it. We don’t have another way of communicating with them, or anywhere else to discuss it, since they dumped us all in the mega servers.

Given all the problems we’ve have had as a WvW’er you’d be a fool not to dread all the new, bug/ patch/ fix / patch /still not working … rotations you will buying too.

BUT… as a WvW’er you are also the type who loves a lost cause and are a natural optimist, worn down a bit .. ok allot .. by all the problems between you and the game it could have been. I’m not the only one still hoping, and then beating myself up, for hoping! I have raged at the machine and tried to work out solutions for inherent problems between the game they made, the technical issues and limits, and the way we used it. 3 years later… I still prefer to playing WvW than anything else.

Reading allot on the forums because I wont play with golems and I think I have had time to get a better idea then I did on Friday, of whats going on and the new content. I know I want to see it, and check under the hood, before I part with any money … but I have also got a clear idea of Anets priority’s: 1st = PvE, 2nd = PvP and 3rd = WvW, that’s not going to change.

If I buy it, it will be because my Guild and my mates do, not because the Marketing department pressure me into it.

anet need to stop the esport nonsense and accept that esport is not applicable to mmorpg, an mmorpg is an mmorpg, it is not fps or moba or rts. gw2 can never enter esport scene which is catered to structured and well designed competitive focused games.

If you want Anet to listen, to put money and time into WvW and give us more of what we want.. then we better become visible and relevant to Anets view of the game … not yours.

Right now they about to give us a ‘Game changer’ .. In Colin we trust .. because we have no other option with Anet and there’s nowhere else to play like this.

Dont leave before you tried it .. seems most of the feed back about the map is .. cautiously optimistic, but I want to see for myself. We got servers, and it sounds like we got a bit of room to maneuver. If you want to understand Anets reasoning look at the Competitive Gaming Video on our threads.

The Point is were way behind .. if WvW is to thrive we gotta show Anet that its viable apart from conditioning PvE’rs to kill other players on their way to the new PvP tournament prizes.

It’s been an education reading the forums over the weekend.
I read Menaka’s post yesterday and after all the hype and confusion, it really made me think. I have seen 2 videos, the interview with Reyna
(the long version) and the podcast on Competitive Gaming. It was an eye opener!.

Watching and reading I kept thinking why with the numbers we have, the hours of play we have put in and the money we’ve spent moving servers, we don’t register with Anet as a viable development option? I see am being forced to play differently, we get small reductions in the cost, when other gamers get incentives and that nobody would talk to us after Devon Carver left.

Colin Johanson and Mike O’Brien said Anet never talk about specific player numbers and ignored the existence of WvW players and their issues. Why?
Steve Fowler quotes off stacks of data analysis info and a chart showing % of players who played PvP since release, which is obviously very exciting because Joshua Davis has been sent over from the Marketing department to help out with setting up all the new tournaments, and sales / income opportunities.
Steve Fowler puts it out there, competitive gamers spend more than any other group of gamers and the longer you play, the more money they make. After watching the podcast, I get a clearer idea of Anet’s interests and focus, PvE follows on in the footsteps of GW1, but Menaka is 100% right, the Future is eSPOOOOORTSSSSS. This is big business and money, but WvW is not on the agenda.

Josh Davis thinks PvE players should be ‘encouraged’ into competitive play (which explains the Golems perfectly) and its not WvW he’s directing them too, Its PvP and they got TV, Twitch, Chat, real money and Stronghold.

Colin Johanson talked about sticking plaster solutions in WvW (the Original Maps ?) and the new Desert Borderlands Map has improvements. His description is of choke points, power channeling and new gizmos for the Towers and if you add the rumors about Guild halls, it sounds awesome ..

It could all go horribly wrong and we lose the server communities? We do not have a dialog with Anet, we have not helped ourselves either. I come on and rage when I’m frustrated .. we want alot but I think Anet muted us.

If we are going to turn this around I think ‘we’ have to do something along the lines of the player tournaments that PvP arranged and stop waiting or thinking .. that Anets going to help us.

Huh? Stability from lifedrain….no seriously, what’re you talking about with that? We don’t have stability on drain life or life siphon. We can Rez people with life drain DS#4, but no stability. There is foot in the grave GM trait in soul reaping but that’s more a stun break than reliable stability.

Also, there I think has been a misunderstanding. I’ve never had anything against mesmer’s as a necromancer, on the contrary, I actually enjoy fighting them for the most part in comparison to thief. See you all use mind games, those are fun to fight against. What with the clones, stealth and you have some teleports, but you do in fact run out eventually. I have actually caught mesmers before by simply masking sure I apply a good chill or cripple before they port, then just run back to get them in range of staff or life blast. Your stealth uptime from prismatic understanding needs to be brought down to say, 50%, duration increase. As for the burst damage capabilities, that just seems to be a problem with classes in general right now.

OK … if its not Life Drain that give Stability is it Death Shroud?

The whole point of the mesmer having the portal and invisibility skills is to maintain balance. Until the recent Traits changes there was very little other reason to use a mes in WvW at all. They were fairly easy to deal with and their one zerg option had been nurfed into obscurity.

The opposite side of this is the mes is now a one shot wonder, rather like the thief. If they don’t hit you hard enough they then invisibility and come back when their skills recharge. Many mesmers are operating in ganking teams, especially coupled with thieves.

If a class can’t stand up without the invisibility it has limited to no place in WvW beyond ganking. The problem, as always, is that the devs are balancing the characters for s/tPvP and PvE with little or no thought for WvW. What they should be balancing for s/tPvP and WvW then balancing PvE mobs to suit

Lola, did you not read my original post? I’m not complaining about Mesmer combat abilities. Even after I level a Mesmer, a Thief will always be my main.

I am complaining that you guys have the coolest Raid utilities. I am sad that no other class has unique raid-changing abilities that aren’t limited to 5 targets. Marth knows exactly what I’m talking about, and it’s THAT kind of thing that I want to see more of.

I want more classes to have unique abilities that benefit the entire raid that are more in-tune with the theme of that class.

I think you guys do have valuable skills for Raiding -> Blasting Smoke can give up to 15s of stealth for 5 ppl with a short cool down .. compare this to Veil or Mas invis

And for the record I don’t think any guilds still use Portal Bombing anymore, except as a stunt and as the man said…. its a fast way to kill your team.

So maybe we are a bit more level on Skills and utilities now .. better play and fairer dueling… unless you just use the Thief to Gank? I which case I will hunt your kitten down and match you guys spike for spike

What makes you think they will? Companies rarely admit they made on error in their ways.

Right? It’s almost as if different people have differing thoughts and opinions on things, like golem rush events.

Last I checked, WvW is even more populated than usual with folks playing with golems, not less. Certainly nothing that indicates people hate the event.

The Queensdale Champion Train was very popular. ANet put a stop to it because it disrupted normal gameplay for the intended users of that map.

Coil in Frostgorge was very popular. ANet put a stop to it because it disrupted normal gameply for the intended users of that event.

Super Adventure Box was very popular. ANet put a stop to it because…well, I’m not sure why but its extreme popularity certainly didn’t save it.

ANet’s record shows that just because players like to do a certain thing doesn’t mean that thing is considered good for the health of the game. I don’t think there’s much doubt that this event is highly disruptive of the normal gameplay for the intended users of these maps.

My guess is that, since it’s “only” one week they will let it run its course and then we’ll all get back to normal and pretend it never happened.

If that doesn’t happen and this event marks the beginning of a trend not merely a badly-conceived gimmick then we can assume they intend to change the use of WvW maps from competitive large-scale PvP to non-competetive resource/wealth/asset gathering a la Silverwastes, with a small PvP risk factor thrown in for flavor.

Clearly it’s ANet’s prerogative to manage their game for the best commercial return and if they feel the WvW maps can be better employed for a different game mode that’s their decision. It would be only polite for them to make that clear in advance so those of us who prefer to use the maps as they were originally conceived cna make other arrangements and find other games to play instead.

I have heard that this was thought up by a Mr. Davis from the Anet Marketing Department, who I imagine by now has crawled under rock and hopefully this .. mess .. will return his attention to the HoT sales instead of WvW.

Given that there was only one option I found to GW2 WvW…. ESO… which was unplayable, I’m stuck here for the foreseeable future.

It is still possible to see the original idea of WvW under the layers of Karma, ETOM and OBS, where each server tries to balance off/deff tactics and HAS to cooperate as a team to win the match up… but… I don’t think Anet can deal with WvW or its community.

I don’t see that a map full of choke points and PvP type defense points as a progression. What we need are open grounds for the Guild raids and reasonable rewards for defense. Until I SEE that I wont be buying HoT .. TYVM

3 years ago I was welcome in raids .. they nerfed us (and rangers) till we became a joke and we only required for 2 skills .. portal and vale. I watched for the last 2 years as the Thiefs and Necros got all the buff goodies and now its my turn to laugh … hard .. each time I take down a Thief 1v1.

I feel I have given up enough bags to the Thief’s and spent my time learning how to play better, now I got some build options and a level playing field with stealth, its time to see how you deal with it.

oh … I been playing Mez since I got hammered so badly I had to work out what was going on.. watch out, you may never go back !

If you would have watched yesterdays POI, you would have learned that this event was singlehandedly made by Grouch aka Josh Davis, who is normally part of the marketing team.
There were absolutely no “ressources” used that could have gone into WvW, HoT or really any other part of the game.
Golem rush obviously isn’t supposed to be a serious patch for WvW ( duh…), it’s just a fun event – a gift for the players really!

If you don’t like it – fine. But seeing people acting so self-important and ungrateful about this is really sort of … disgusting.
You guys complain that Anet doesn’t listen to you? If this is how you react to a well intended gift, I wouldn’t want to do anything for you either….

It is not a matter of support or not support Anet, i really dont like this to, but they cant do this on a test server also, and wvw was never that good in siege gameplay, it never ment to be anything that serious to play, Gw2 wvw it is not that siege mmo where players can put effort in their game defending and feel reewarded, it is like a android tablet game where u play when u are bored or waiting for something that is cooking.
So… making this “event” as bad as it sounds makes perfect sence becasue game is chaging to a even more low effort game, players will feel rewarded becouse it is easy.

I have an idea:
the We care about wvw event:
1) disable first person view for wvw
2) readjust the radius of ACs
3) examine whether or not the damage siege does is justified, what means people have to defend objectives and if that still is enough in times of blobs
4) fix bugs
5) try to find the source of lags and fix them
6) spend some time in wvw as a regular player and learn what wvw is all about
7) balance classes/conditions/damage etc etc

That would be an event I’d like.

Then we can talk about zeppelins, golem rushes, tanks or whatever.

Apart from the fact I agree compleatly .. I laughed my ase off at all the complaints.

Didn’t you notice us all happily gathered in the Mystic Forge plaza in the old LA?
Perhaps you missed the posing platform right by the bank and the way people parked their toons in the small space in between the bank and the BLT… ??? Didn’t you notice that no one parked up in the old Plaza … because no one was there to see, or be seen?

Frankly the ‘Designers’ need to please explain what a giant lobster this has to do with the back story in this game .. which idiot thought Seafood Salad would be an inspirational environment, and where the hart and center of this game is now supposed to hang out together?

You have a great community .. stop kicking them in the crotch and get someone who knows what there doing!

Seems to me your a Melee/ Tank if you like being up close and personal – That’s Warrior/ Guardian. Both are great but for shear mobility the Warrior is king and Guard’s are loved by every LFG for heals and condition removal.

Ranged toons are the Mez/ Ele – stand back and dodge out of the way. DPS kings and queens of the dungeons and PvP. Power builds and WvW gankers … the perfect Roamers imo.
The Ranger is awesome ranged but difficult to play well in Melee .. not my bag and I never played an Engi.

Thief is great in PvE but in WvW its all about the ‘back stabbing’. Personally I hate them! you cant find them to duel and I don’t think I could really enjoy the game if no one gets to fight back .. but hey .. that’s me

One thing you may want to consider before you put all your eggs in any class is the new expansion progression tracks, this may change your mind if your profession ends up with a option you don’t like. Don’t forget your gonna spend hours and hours grinding for gear you may not be able to swap to other toons later.

I have tried all and am looking forward to getting back some of the Mezmer magic we were striped of when the nerfed Confusion, but then I am a Caster in virtually all the other MMO’s I’ve played.

I been playing since beta and had this problem randomly, always, especially in WvW/PvP

Running along, spot target, go for my normal rotation .. bang i’m .. immobile/ watching my red bar drain/ dead.

Than I look and see this in chat box “AADDVVVWWSSSWAAADDFATBZSRT”

I admit I am a bit of a rager .. but this is the single most frustrating thing in this game. I know its not just me, there are other posts on REDDIT, and no I am not ‘accidentally’ hitting the chat with my mouse (please!)

Been playing since Betas, leveled 7 different classes, got all the bling, play Guard or Warrior for guild raids and Mez for roaming and duels. I hate farming nodes and especially jumping Puzzles, but I jump in for Dungeons and events.
I rep 100%, pay my dues and had a belly full of drama. I have a life, but I’m on most nights and weekends and it helps if there’s something to do.
I like Big PvX Guilds. I like to help and be involved, love chatting, up for laughs and silliness, but not when Im trying to listen to the commander, please. TS/ Mumble a must as I can’t type and fight, cos of my Orbweaver and I cant spell anyway.
I want a guild where ppl don’t shout, where helping out a guildie is encouraged and map chat slanging matches, are not.
I would like to come on daytime’s and find chat active and ppl in TS you can actually talk to? I am looking forward to the new expansion and praying the new Map is anything .. even vaguely .. near what we’re all hoping for.

are on a a top 10 EU English speaking server, you got 20 / 40 players on most nights, been around long enough to have gotten organised and over the power games, with a core of good players to help with builds and progression. Probably you got a lot of players coming back and are looking to train up new Commanders, and rebuild the awesomeness.
You want a team, not robots, understand the difference and need some good, experienced players who can fit into the gaps and who will be reliable, self disciplined and try to fit in.

If most of this sounds about right… gimme a shout in game

did Anet shut down WvW customer relations? Is this ‘report’ all their going to read?

I can appreciate trawling through 30 e-pages of " suggestions " after you edited out the trolling, would be a grind …. but hey, isn’t that what we pay them for?

Fact is we all have gotten allot for the Server communities and the’re a bit like Super Guilds for some of us and very important for the WvW players and organisation.
There have been indications that we might get Guild Halls at some point (I wish!!) but the servers need .. really need a home if we are to keep the great community spirit for more than just the WvW’ers
