So A Norn That Doesn't Drink...

The Norn play it loose with their cultural norms; lore-wise, you can get away with almost anything in the name of building your legend. So how does not drinking fit into your legend, exactly? Regardless, I’d imagine other Norn would find someone who isn’t into drinking or boasting a bit dull, while the other races will probably find him easier to relate to than the average Norn.

The Reason To Be Norn!

Alright, you wanna know why you should love the Germanic peoples (Imma focus on the Norse in particular)? Let me tell you.

*cracks knuckles*

First, let’s make something abundantly clear. These people were the most metal individuals ever to walk the earth. You ever hear of the Viking at Stamford Bridge? This one crazy berserker held off an ambush by an entire Saxon army. He killed forty men and injured several more before someone managed to get under the bridge and stab his junk. In doing so, he kept five thousand men from crossing this bridge, and let his comrades survive and regroup.

But don’t go thinking this was just one crazy outliers. The Norse loved combat. Everyone knows about Valhalla: the only paradise consisting of endless death-matches until Ragnarök comes. But lets talk about the guy in charge their, Odin. Odin was the head of the gods, and the god or war, death, magic, and poetry. This dude supposedly taught man to go to war just so he could fill up Valhalla. He had one eye because he ripped the other out of his own skull in exchange for ultimate knowledge. And it was this dude that the Norse saw as most deserving of worship. Like I said, metal.

Poetry probably looks out of place in Odin’s list or purviews, but this in no ordinary poetry. See, in addition to producing incredibly kitten heroic poems, the Norse basically invented rap battles. Insulting someone in the cleverest way possible was considered a high art by the Norse. And contrary to their brutish appearance, the guys who pulled out his axe was the loser. The point was to outsmart the other guy, not outfight him.

Well, that’s what have for now. Hope it worked; it is kinda hard to know what to say without knowing why you’re so into the Romans.

Alternate PvE builds?

I’ve been running the standard GS/Axe+Mace Zerker build for a while now, and it’s gotten rather stale. So are there other PvE builds that do comparable damage (with 10%) but play differently? I’d especially like one that doesn’t use Berserker’s Power. Thanks.

I think that there is a clear mistake you made with our two less-than-beloved Sylvari that you didn’t make beloved characters like the order mentors and DE. With Trahearne and Scarlet both, you made the story about that one character. For this to succeed, you have to make one character for everyone, a character everybody will love. No writer has ever done this or ever will. With Destiny’s Edge, I can hate Logan and Zojja and still love stories about the group. That’s because I can still love Eir and Rytlock (and think Caithe is completely ignorable). It’s even better with the orders, since I can pick the one I like best. Can’t take Magister Sieran seriously? Join the Vigil, you’ll love Forgal. In both cases, not having the story be about one person allowed you to make characters that were for a portion of the player base and not so much for the rest. And for those that they were for, they were home-runs. From a player satisfaction standpoint, that’s much better than having one character for everyone who ends up not resonating with much of anyone.

I wouldn’t mind so much if we had some better serious styles. It’s all weird partially shaved styles and over the top braids. I just want normal chin-length beard, like the facial hair icon at character creation.

Reset Personal Story.

I want to replay parts of my character’s personal story. Sometimes, it’s to do things differently, and other times I just want to relive the cool parts. But leveling a new character is too tedious for me. What I’m suggesting is a gem-store service that will reset a character’s entire story. It would put you back at the part of character-creation where you first choose personality, let you give new answers for all of the biography questions, and drop you off at the first mission. From there, you can rerun your old story or make totally new decisions. So yeah, I wanna see this and I can’t be the only one. Make it happen, Anet.
