So what? Do you need safe space from the mean people that are telling the truth? Oh boy, you’re so perfect, you have a LIFE! Who would have knew? We all have lives, we all have families (part of or our own), the majority of us either study or work. And guess what? Not all of those are casuals.

If your time must be divided between a videogame, a job and a child, then set your priorities. That videogame should be the lowest on the list. I never understood this pathetic argument. I’m bad at the game because I have a wife, child, job, A LIFE, thus you are a no-lifer useless keyboard warrior.

News flash. You don’t need to play 24/7 to be good at this game, which, is in itself casual compared to the majority of titles, online or offline. But I guess you are so bad that if someone is able to facetank the new archdiviner on a zerker mesmer you think he is a no lifer. Why didn’t you say it to that person in game? Afraid? Aren’t you also a keyboard warrior by threatening others over the internet with violence? Let me guess, in real life you are a promoter of “tolerance and acceptance”.

You were bad, but your fragile ego cannot accept the truth, it haunts you so bad and you go on the forums making a useless topic acting like some sort of though guy. Grow up, kid and git gud.

@Yargesh.4965 Because of a sole reason: maybe, someone will see this and say “here is another one who just wants to ignore, seems like a good option, I could try this”. Just because maybe he didn’t think of this as an option. Maybe he thinks he is alone and seeing another person will make him understand he is not alone with this option.

This would be the only reason. Even with this, yes the premise was broken, but how else could I find out if others share this idea?

I don’t know man, I’m having a great time with this franchise but when I see such passion in portraying something negative when it isn’t even in game, really gets to me because of one simple fact – if enough “crying” is made, things will change, and content may be altered in a brain-dead state – and even if it is 0.1% chance, I do not want to take it.

Generally people going around saying they know what is best, don’t. If you have a beef with people jumping up and down without anything to base it on, fine. You will not get anything accomplished the way you are doing things now.

Not with them personally, I’d say more with what they are promoting. I went on the following premise: If I debate them with calm, nothing will happen, same arguments being repeated over and over. If I do it aggressively nothing good comes out of it. The only possibility is a heavy ignore.

It is indeed hypocritical on some level of me in everything I’ve said, it is true. I also agree with Time will tell all @BrotherBelial and any fears and criticism (I already said that) should be expressed.

But when those fears have been put to rest and the vs arguments are still encompassing those fears even in threads that they have no place in, that’s what I have a problem with. Plus because of some fears an entire part of the community is labeled in a negative way. Time will tell again applies.

But why should I be instantly labeled as elitist if I say yes to raids. This feelings grows even though we barely had an BWE to test this kind of content.

You can criticize me as much as you like, critic is healthy. You guys said hey OP you are kind of hypocrite and more or less you are right. But I cannot present this without sounding at the very least, hypocrite. I just want healthy conversations, regardless of saying good or bad things about this content. But some persons go beyond this with negativity, an unfounded one.

Bring any fear you have, again I say it. But when it has been laid to rest, don’t aggressively push it anymore. That’s my only beef.

Good morning everyone, especially forum users.

Since the raiding news hit the scene, from the official reveal up until this day, there have been different topics discussed both here and in the Raid/dungeon/fractal subforum. Being it feedback from the BWE3 or discussions about rewards/difficulty etc many of us gave our opinion in constructive arguments, most of us wanting to hit the middle ground.

Middle ground as in understanding the real situation in terms of difficulty, rewards, playtime, party structure etc etc, put possible fears to rest and when problems arise, present them to the devs.

However, over the past days an increasing number of threads and hijacks have occured. A couple of people, most of you know who they are, are aggressively presenting misinformation, false numbers and situations while promoting entitlement, hypocrisy and divide in the community. These persons have their own agenda created by their refusal towards the possibility of something not being accessible for them, not because of a gear-tier, of a difficulty but because of their own stubbornness.

The simple idea of others having fun in an open for all environment with rewards, environment that they do not like is more than enough to create drama, threads after threads and/or hijacking other ones. They do not provide any solid evidence via numbers or simple arguments for their “fear” claims. Instead the result is personal attacks, derogatory generalization for the people that likes raiding and spreading of misinformation that can cause unwanted fear scenarios (see required ascended gear discussions before being proclaimed false).

They only spew their negativity towards exclusivity, difficulty above press #1 to win and towards other members without providing any evidence for their claims other than comparisons to vastly different games, such as WoW and using emotional outburst. Everything in my book makes them extremists that wish to divide the community. As it stands, the GW 2 community has a certain name to hold true to, even though elitism still exist as it would be everywhere, VR or IRL.

The sole idea of the majority liking the raiding system and the game coming together after raiding is released and not becoming the grounds for vile elitism was deemed impossible for them at the begging. Meanwhile, Anet provided us with a testing BWE and blogs of information putting these fears to rest. This situation is not on their liking and they will thus grasp at anything to misinform and create fear-of-raiding and its community.

I urge everyone to ignore these persons and instantly abandon every thread that they start the false claims in (including this one). Be aware they appeal to emotion as their tool (I have a right to express my opinion, I’ve played X and was triggered by elitism, look at that person rage at me after I’ve insulted him, this is the raiding community), everything while providing no numbers, but false claims, misinformation and strawman arguments.

By ignoring them we clear the forum pages of their toxicity, leaving place for healthy conversation from which a communication with the devs is imminent. There will thus, be no place for unfounded fears towards a new type of content and the discussions can then progress at a steady pace with the goal of giving the max amount of info to everyone, so we are all ready, in the end, for the Raiding parts of the game.

This thread should not serve as discussion ground as much as it should serve as an attention towards each and everyone of you. We have a great community. Keep the toxics out. Do not fall into their extremist claims, ignore and move on, abandon when necessary.

Have a good day everyone, and hopefully I will see you in game!

@Tigaseye So the only “toxic” (in the lack of a better word) replies are mine and the one I am replying to is perfectly rational, not selfish and represents the good side? C’mon man, when I make a mistake I admit it. But do you truly believe that the bad guys (from replies) are only the hardcore people? The so called casuals are having the utter most perfected and logical arguments and we are the barbarians? There’s a saying in my country, “You laugh at the straw in that person’s eye while not seeing the crowbar in your own.”

I know what I have read from you and yes, I can’t help but draw my own conclusions.

Your entire position goes against everything I believe, but the way you have presented that position is even less socially acceptable, to me, than the position itself.

I’m not anti-raiding.

I “real” raided in WoW previously, so I don’t mind there being harder levels of raids in games.

But, my heart lies in MoP LFR, where I could play with a random selection of people, at any time I felt like it, for as long as a felt like it.

People of all ages, abilities, backgrounds, family/relationship and job situations, experience of the game and so on.

A word that represents my outlook on life is “inclusive”; not exclusive.

So, of course I find a lot of what you say distasteful.

This is a game, it’s not supposed to replicate, in horrible detail, the worst parts of the “haves and have-nots” of real life.

The real life situation in that respect is horribly extreme, ATM and most people want to get away from all that in games.

But, even if your position was equally valid and as many people were on your side of the fence (which they, almost certainly, are not – even though they will probably say a lot less), as I say, the way you have voiced it is really not acceptable to me, at all.

I understand that you’re from a different culture and that will have affected your outlook, but that doesn’t mean I have to like the way you talk to, or about, people.

Fair enough. Differences will be differences. Nothing wrong here. It is true, I was very aggressive. I cannot help it. My situation is this: I am playing a franchise since 2005. The last installment took the difficulty to a very low standard. I personally enjoy a challenge in my hobbies, videogames being one of them. I am currently playing an installment in which, IMO, at least 90% of its content is dedicated to a casual crowd. I crave for a challenge. The company decides to give me and the ones like me 1%. The rest are acting like we are given 100% and tries their best through extremism and victimization to make the company scrap their plans. How do you think I feel? Not good if I might say so. Not good at all. Especially knowing that the content is in no way restricted to them.

Ascended gear was not confirmed as required just recommended, no one can say how long it will take to clear a wing but given past examples, I sincerely doubt it will take 10+ hours or something so extraordinary and regarding the difficulty…well, one of the trash bosses was soloed in 20 mins I believe?

I am in a situation in which after 3 years I get a bone and the whole world acts like the end of the days are coming. I am at fault, I am the barbarian, the elitist, the bad apple. I am sorry, I will not accept this.

Give me concrete numbers for your examples. Links, statements, official responses. How do you know the hardcore community is 1%? Stop the parallels with WoW, even if they would copy paste the raids from there it would still be totally different since this game does not have a hard, forced trinity.

It was originally posted by a developer during wow 2.0. During the panda expansion, I believe it is stated again on an interview. You can also check wowwiki.

https://www.reddit.com/r/Games/comments/2qnhuj/only_03_of_wildstars_players_have_cleared_the/

Oh I did not mention. I apologize. I was referring to the statement you made in which the Guild Wars 2 hardcore community is 1% of the game’s active population. Since I find your comparisons interesting, I would argue that all those games follow a hard forced trinity gameplay type. Since Guild Wars 2 does not, the gameplay core itself is vastly different. Being it berserker only or with a druid and condi engi, it is still very different.

This being said, the hardcore community, is in my opinion, way bigger than a mere 1% and composed from what I would classify as the core players, the ones that are returning with the raid announcement, the ones that did not play at all due to lack of endgame content and the ones that want at least out of curiosity to try engame content, raids, with this type of active gameplay. TERA would be a candidate when it comes to gameplay but I believe the rest of that game puts everyone off.

This is why I am asking you for something to justify your 1% because I do not throw around numbers just for the sake of typing and if I do, I make sure to add in my opinion so they do not seem facts.

@MyriadStars So what? This is life. If we aren’t going together then I will find someone else to play it. It doesn’t mean I will break all ties with them at all. Sometimes you need to do compromises. What is more important to me? Raiding or taking care of my family/job? In my case, the latter examples. So I will give up raiding. It is not a priority anymore. Good, I had my fun times, let others have it. But I will not come and demand that because of my new life choices and time-schedules, the game should change, invalidate the opinions of the ones that have the time I once had, just to fit my agenda. I move on. If my time does not allow it, I will not raid, not get the rewards and gain my happy times in the game from other areas of it.

You are telling me something that is as normal as everyday breathing. And I agree with you, it will happen, tomorrow, the next week, the next year. But, and this grinds my gears, I will not demand the game to change based on my new schedule while ignoring a certain part of the community just because muh entitlement.

There are better options. A few years ago, in Wow, they implemented an easier version of each raid (with more but shorter raid wings) and implemented a lfg tool for it. Each smaller raid wing can be completed in under an hour, but the reward is much worse than the rewards from the normal raids which require 50 hours per week to complete.

This is the best because:

1. Players who can raid for 50+ hours per week can get much better gear.

2. Other players can still manage to see the content using a reasonable amount of time, and since they spent much less effort, their gear is much worse.

We can do something similar in GW2, so that:

1. Players who can raid for 50+ hours per week can get legendary armour and other exclusive skins.

2. Others can still manage to see the content using a reasonable amount of time, and since they spent much less effort, the above exclusive items will not be rewarded to them and actual rewards will be stuff like what they could get in scale 1 fractals.

I agree with this. It is an awesome solution. Since the game lacks gear progression, the easy reward could be a legendary armor but let’s say for the sake of the example, that from 10 stats you could only chose 5 and lack the legendary effects. Meanwhile the hard reward would be the legendary armor with 10 stats to chose from and the effects.

What if, in this scenario, the casual crowd still acts like today? What then. What would be in that circumstance the solution. Because even in that situation they will blame us. I don’t want them to not have something to do or be able to play the raids. They can thanks to the system Anet is taking, but I want one thing only – the challenge to not be dumbed down. And as a reward, a unique skin, that Anet provides. That’s all. I do not want attunements or certain forced grind for them. No. I want my challenging little corner. A single little corner in a game as big as GW 2. Is it too much to ask?

Am I selfish that I want for them the single barrier they should face to be their own will? Not time barrier, gear grind barrier etc. If you want to do it, learn it and do it. That’s it. And also, I seriously doubt that the raids will take hours and hours. It’s Anet we are talking about. I really do not think they will make something take 12 hours for example.

This is ridiculous. Why are Anet catering to 1% of the population.

Hardcore raiding never works. It was shown less than 1% of the people actaully experienced Sunwell pre-wrath, the percentage of people completing it is like 1 in 10,000.

The percentage of people raiding in LOTR online is so tiny, they actually decide to remove it. And just look at Wildstar, it was shown hardcore raiding is a total failure.

Please, Anet, stop listening to the hardcore people. This was the first game designed for casual players. Now players need to grind “ascended armor” for a prerequisite to raiding. And the painful “attunement” process called grinding your mastery and experience before you can even try it.

This is unacceptable! I was kicked out my WoW guild because I can’t devote 50 hours a week to raid. And when I find out about GW2 I thought I’m finally free of this curse! But no, Anet is turning this game into a hardcore raiding game too!

So this is the representative of the casual community? I don’t know what I expected.

This entitlement agenda has to end. And it will end. More than 90% of the game is casual. Give 1-2% of it to the hardcore crowd and BOOOM! Apocalypse, the end of the game is here, it caters to hardcore crowd elite now and other drama. Why should Anet listen to you, hypocrite, and not to others? Why is your opinion a fact? Because this is how you expose it. Give me concrete numbers for your examples. Links, statements, official responses. How do you know the hardcore community is 1%? Stop the parallels with WoW, even if they would copy paste the raids from there it would still be totally different since this game does not have a hard, forced trinity.

You say you need dozens of hours. Did you play all the raids? Extraordinary! Enlighten me! What about the ones that do have the necessary time and will to dedicate to raids? Why shouldn’t they get some content? After all, except lvl 50 fractals give me one single example of challenging content is this forsaken game? We must lower ourselves in killing Lupi with no armor just for the sake of a challenge. And even there you attack us! Dungeons are meant to be played this way, and the selling of a dungeon is an exploit.

If we do the actual content too fast, casuals complain. If we do it alone, they complain. If we want profit on this hard work, casuals complain. If we get raids, casuals complain. If I want to play berserker casuals complain. All of this while over 90% of the game is pure casual. But we destroy the game. We are the problem. We want our corner. Without you. I have the right, as much as you do, to request this.

You fail to remember that the audience of this game is worldwide and not westerners only. Aka not everyone agrees with “everybody is a winner” ideology. You also forget that your same society IRL caters to a certain <2% , praising them like some sort of deities and even an argument against them will ruin your life and label you as X-phobe.

I have the time, the skill, the will, the friends and the need to play raiding-type content. Why shouldn’t Arena-net provide this to me and cater to you 100% in a game that already caters 90%+ to you. The gate of the content is open, get your friends and go in and do it. It’s permanent content. Nothing stops you from doing it. But of course you know that. You hate that a certain part of the community is gaining attention from Arena-net. You hate us. Our fun, our community, our friendships, our skills, our dedication. You hate that we have time that you do not. And then you have the audacity to come here and post as a victim?

Though luck buddy, I live in a different world than yours. My world will not kill my social life if I critique someone, my world does not brainwash me with “everybody is a winner” scenarios. My world does not equal “all pink”. Among many others I learned that if I want something I must work for it. I want the legendary armor. I will do raids. I enjoy them. You don’t? Good, you don’t do it and do not get the rewards. Fair and square. This is not a place for special snowflakes anymore.

I’ve been supporting Anet since 2005. I know what they can do and call hard. I’ve beaten DoA and I was proud of it. Not even 1% of what the raids are bringing will be as difficult as DoA. I made friends in this game. Friends that I would give anything to meet them in real life. I am part of such a wonderful community. I am proud to consider myself in the same community as Jerus, Wethsopu, Skady, dlonie, Rising Dusk, Brazil and everyone else!

I think we deserve a little spotlight ourselves after 3 years. We are not here to steal or transform the game. We just want our little corner. That’s all. But everything we do is condemned by casuals. In the end, of course, they are the victims and we are the bullies.

This is life for me, like it or not. I fail, I retry, I succeed, I reap the rewards. No buts and ifs. This is me, I am here since 2005 and I, with many others like me, aren’t going anywhere. Anet decided it’s time to honor us. We are here to stay and I will not let you spread misinformation and extremism just to fit your own selfish agenda.

Raids are coming. Do you even praise the sun, bro?

f2p ruining dungeon selling

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Lux Dominatoris.3941

Lux Dominatoris.3941

I agree with you bladex. The influx of new players does not bother me, I have my own friends and guildies to run with (dungeons/fractals/raids). What bothers me is the influx of players that disrespect the party they are joining by not reading. It is enough we have to deal with the ones already in game, now we get even more.

Dungeon selling has been a practice in the Guild Wars series since around 2006-2007. The only reason Anet did not openly say, in Guild Wars 2 that is, that they are supporting it and instead said only accepted/tolerated is because they new selfish extremists (like the many ones in this thread unfortunately) will go all in a rage. Trying this way to retain as many players as possible. Business. I don’t like it personally, but it is in their benefit.

Although the thread was about a serious issues, extremists have already derailed it to fit their personal agenda. They insult personally, sarcastically reply and blame only the OP. But do not worry, the end-game community is the evil one. This is exactly what happens in todays world with Politically correctness, affirmative actions, everybody is a winner and the rest of the group.

OP, we have to endure this. Make sure you ask if they read your LFG. If they did not, kindly ask them to respect the party they are joining next time by reading and then kick them ASAP. If up until f2p you had to do this 3 times, now you have to do it 6 times. I am sure it is annoying, but we must have patience, otherwise we lose our time by stressing out.

For the extremists, you can twist it around as much as you want, insult as much as you want. Dungeon selling has been here for almost 10 years, even before you knew what Guild Wars was, let alone Guild Wars 2. It will not go anywhere and it is not a bad thing at all. It is a service, a business that had, has and it will have plenty of customers, especially when the game’s main focus is catering to content like press 1 to win in open world.

But instead of letting people play how they want, you feel the need to enforce hate on a certain group because of your high-horse “morals”. Oh, I am sorry, the end-game community is the toxic one, I forgot.

Hopefully with the upcoming raids, we will have eventually some new LFG filters. They would be, as they say in my language, “mana cereasca”. A gift from the heavens.

Apparently Gw2 have the best community?

Hello there Anka. It is good you wrote your concerns although it is sad that you generalize both situations and groups so much. On behalf on your bad experiences I apologize. I am part of the elite/hardcore/speed run etc community, a proud member, and although I do not take any enjoyment from experiences such as the provided example, I hope you will not label a whole community based on extremism.

Knowing all that allow me to present to you the fact that both the casual and the hardcore community got over time some labels, because of extremism and lack of knowledge, labels that are not favorable to any of the said communities.

Some future tips on my behalf which I am sure will help you in future endeavors!

- Please read the LFG before joining. It is a way to show respect and get respect and avoid bad situations if the said criteria listed there are not on your liking.

- If no party fits your playstyle, create your own, with your own rules (or lack of) one click away only!

- People may join that do not fit and thus they deserve a kick.

- Exp=experienced, zerk= berserker gear and weapons, meta= berserker gear, weapons, traits and advanced knowledge of the encounter, usually aiming towards a speed run.

- 80s, P1, P2 etc usually do not care about all those things

- The content labeled as end game (dungeon, fractals) has been here, without a change for almost 3 years. Please understand the players that do this daily. They are having fun, they like it, but like me, the sooner we finish the better, thus wanting to achieve fast times with optimal settings. Not because we feel it like a chore, but because we done it sooooooo many times (thousands of times and I am not exaggerating).

- This type of gameplay may not suit you, and thus with the bad experiences, you may feel the need to generalize but I would say that is not the case. When and if you will do your 1001th AC P1 run, you will want to do it ASAP.

- Due to the poor AI and the combat system, some things that may not be on your liking may occur. Stacking is not useful anymore since the ele elite FGS was nerfed almost a year ago I believe. PUGs tend to not adapt very well. The closest tactic nowadays is to stand as close as each other due to the very small distance for boon sharing!

Remember, being berserk is being DPS+Support+Control at all times, risking 1 shot death from anything if Support and Control is failed to be delivered (For example, I as a mesmer, I am never taken for DPS because I am almost bottom tier. I am taken for portal, perma reflect, slow from TW, condi cleanse, stability provider, defiance controler, stealth provider for skips etc)

- You will encounter bad apples but if you try joining parties that fit your playstyle or just make them, you will have an enormous chance to find like minded people that may become your guildies or even friends, thus making you not need to pug at all.

Remember, read the LFG before joining, respect and be respected, do not generalize based on extremism and most important, make your own LFG for you to meet like minded people!

Hope to see you in game and as few bad incidents as possible for you. If you want different opinions on the “endgame” subjects feel free to post in the dungeon forums or take a look at the dudes that provide guides/discussion on YouTube or other media!

Have a good day!

How do you wake up every morning knowing you take pride in insulting, stereotyping and denying some pleasures for others, while having the opportunity and accessibility to do exactly what they do for the same rewards but refusing due to some otherworldly reasons that are born from egoism and narcissism only. And you call others petty. Even Ohoni is more understanding and he is a vicious critic in my book!

How to get Legendary armor outside of raids?

As long as we are talking about PvE, since PvP and WWW has the enemy-human factor in it, Raids will be more difficult than dungeon, fractals and Open world. Being successful at something more difficult (as accepted by at least the majority of the community) makes it the best.

Nah. The problem for me is not the skill difficulty (as i doubt it will be something i wouldn’t be able to master). It’s the party size. And, possibly (though not certainly, as we don’t know anything about it yet) time involved. So, keep talking that it will separate people by skill, not by some arbitrary non-skill factors. It still won’t make it any more true.

Also, since you did mention it, how would you feel if these rewards were locked beyond the truly difficult content of GW2 (high level sPvP)?

You like something you work outside your comfort zone sometimes.

Why? It’s not going to improve my game experience or fun factor in any way. Quite the opposite.

I really love the back piece they showed for sPVP. The glorious wings I believe it was the name? To answer your question, no problem, I play sPVP. Since that photo I am trying to learn in practice arenas my Mesmer, so that my guild team of sPvP will take me after the Leader-boards are out. I will do the content until I get my wings then drop it. Simple.

As for the comfort zone thing? Because that’s how life works. This entertainment product is part of your free time experience of your life. Even the ones that make their living out of their passion or hobby had at least once in their lifetime to do something they did not want for a reward they desired because of future use. It is like everyday breathing for me when it comes to the sense it has.

Although I agree with you, I hope that if it is a difference, cheezing, rng or other bypasses should not be involved at all. Hopefully there will not be such a situation.

YOU GUYS ALL WANT REWARDS FOR NOTHING.

And you want rewards for liking different things than i do. Sorry if i don’t agree that your kind of content is in any way better than mine.

But there is a reason why I spent a lot of time in getting a Kudzu and don’t use “Random Exotic Longbow”. Kudzu is just so much prettier! Assuming the legendary set looks good, non-raiders will want to have it, too. As I said, I am tired of games that lock me out from getting nice stuff just because I don’t want to play a specific type of content that I personally find boring more than anything. I could have played any other MMO had I wanted that.

I fully agree, but it’s actually worse than that. Legendary gear is not only a skin that may (or may not) be good. It also offers a QoL function (stat changing) that is highly useful to anyone that runs more than one build. It’s way too useful to be locked behind a single content designed for a tiny minority of players.

If it was such a tiny minority like the persons akin to you make it seem, they would not have put dev time in this content. It takes a lot of work I am sure of it. As long as we are talking about PvE, since PvP and WWW has the enemy-human factor in it, Raids will be more difficult than dungeon, fractals and Open world. Being successful at something more difficult (as accepted by at least the majority of the community) makes it the best. You like something you work outside your comfort zone sometimes. You do not want that, you’re just lying to yourself that you NEED that said reward.

Hopefully it will be perma-exclusive. We deserve it. Plus, the best part of all, everything is Guild Wars style so I won’t be afraid with “ugh what if they copy WoW” since I do not want that myself.

Brokenglass. Just because you had your thread closed quite fast does not mean this one deserves to be closed as well. You cannot comprehend how easy the solution is to an nonexistent problem. Make your own party. I see you cannot make a single post without insulting the other group. You cannot express yourself without putting yourself on a pedestal “sorry I’m not a bigot.”, thinking yourself as superior and insult, insult, insult and insult.

What are the facts you are talking about? “I’m talking about facts.” If this meta “Is that “the best way” is too simple” then how come you are dying “because I died once during a skip”. I do not for the love of God believe that you have been kicked for not having “high end skins”.

“Hate me for pointing out the obvious.” Nobody is hating anybody, there is only an argument being discussed. Some people are more emotional than others. You really think of yourself as some sort of VIP, everybody hates you. You do not present any evidence to back up half of what you say by using words like “facts, fanboy, white people” (Do you have problems with White skinned people? Are you some sort of SJW that believes nothing bad can be done to whites?). Stop with political correctness. No one wants this non sense here, some of the western countries deal with it enough in real life.

“If this game’s elite content soloing youtube posting, super kitten top end guilds, had more than ONE way to play, the fanboys would be to diverse to fall under one label!”

THERE IS more than one way to play in those super kitten top end guilds how you call it. It is accepted. Seach for the videos of Skady Valda on Y-Tube for example. Again, do not talk about things you do not have any information about.

Your posts are full of insults, name-calling, stereotyping, entitlement and narcissism while lacking any concrete example backed up by facts. I have provided links in my posts, videos, names etc. In my book you come out as an extremist. You do not want to play a certain way. You want to portray altruism but you only want a selfish way to make all players who like zerker not being able to play. It’s nothing about hate, I do not know you personally, but what I do know about you are the insults you keep pouring in every post along with your narcissist attitude while not being able to demonstrate anything you say with concrete facts, while of course refusing the solution to your so called problem that was always there. One click away.

In this thread opinions are shared. If a mod decides to shut it down, he has a good reason. Stop. Inciting. Hate.

Good day horvgab!

why do you wish for a style that would promote staleness

Because 3-years in, and zerker meta’s so fun.

The difference is, if Trinity is introduced you can only play A B and C. As of right now, A is more spread out over a meta format, but I can complete successfully all content with builds from B to Z. Try to understand before giving an opinion, it could save some conflicts. And people are still enjoying zerker. Some, not all of course. I guess it is a bad thing to play how i want.

I zerker farmed this game for about year and a half after release. Ultimately it was one of the dominant factors that have led me to quit the game at least for a while, only came back because of the recent condi changes, in which so far, I am disappointed greatly. Only 3 out of all professions condi builds can reasonably keep up, rest are unusable in practical sense. Too many bosses still have immunities / duration reductions on both damaging and controlling conditions. This is A-Net fail.

The current zerker meta is full of problems. It is stale and needs to change for that, in addition to many other reasons.

I also noticed upon my return a vast degradation in player quality, especially, zerkers. Its so bad right now, 90% of these current zerkers are just horribaddie scrubs that come here on these forums and say “no its not the meta you just got paired / grouped with the few baddies, rest of us are good, we sware ….”

yea right….. just EN OH. 90% of you zerkers are exactly and precisely these baddies then spew crap here that its the other guys giving you a bad name, while it isnt, its you.

Did you take a look in the dungeon forum how many community projects are ongoing in helping not only the hardcore community but for a better cooperation game wise? Did you take a look at the prominent users that are constantly giving out advice? Did you read this thread of people apologizing on their behalf?

I see often anti-zerker threads with barely any “representative” from the hardcore community spreading hate. I, on the other hand see people like you, extremists, trying to fuel this conflict instead of letting people shake hands for a better tomorrow. You do not represent the hardcore, elite, casual, zerk, condi, all welcome communities. You are just an extremist that should be ignored. You are part of the group of people that whenever the dust tries to settle, you come it with false statistcs and exaggeration only to fuel the conflict.

Did you play with 90% of the berserker players? Prove it, show me something. Did from all those players, all were hateful? Show me proof. Because I can show you proof that many of the anti-zerkers are elitist and hateful. And no, they are not those casuals, all welcome guys. No, they are open to a constructive discussion. It’s your gang that spills only hate and flame. And for what? You hate the way that someone enjoys the game. You are jealous of it. Ever wonder if it’s a destructive power as you make it to be, why Anet did not do nothing? Because the game allows you to play how you want. But you do not do what you preach. You have become what you hate. You do not want all viable, all optimal. You want players who enjoy zerk to not be able to play at all.

Where is the “spew crap here” posts you are talking about. I see different opinions who agree or not on an issue. Then you came along "90% of you zerkers are exactly and precisely these baddies " “90% of these current zerkers are just horribaddie scrubs”. Show me proof. Show me. If not, take your extremism away.

The bad apples of the hardcore community helped create overtime a bad image. But that is only half of the story. The other half is people like you creating false stereotypes, bad statistics and over-exaggerations in which many new people or less informed players fell as in a trap and now believe bogus stories that we are some sort of demons.

This is the first and the last interaction between us. If you want to create hate and flame do it somewhere else, your extremist group is not welcome, not matter what community it is a part of.

For everyone out there, do not let extremists shape your view on a whole community. Put things in balance. Respect and you will be respected. No one benefits from segregation, and surely no one benefits from segregation caused by flame-seeking extremists. Please ignore these kind of persons and continue on a constructive discussion, whether pro or vs a certain topic. Understanding the other POV is key in understanding their arguments and fears, thus leading to a midway conflict resolution.

@cupcakesandcatnomz How is that? Because you do not like their playstyle in a game that allows you at any second to make your own demands with like minded people while being able to complete any possible content? Or is some sort of hypocrisy in the middle? Bogus statements for the sake of reigniting a fire, such tolerance and acceptance. Oh wait, shouldn’t the zerkers be the “evil” ones?

A good day to everyone!

Glad to see you are calmer. How fast a LFG can fill? Instantly, i always see all welcome poping in and out. You cannot zerk with a condi because the term to zerk was created from the armor stat combination of the same name. You can sinister with condi I guess and tank with Nomad.

You should understand one thing. If you run zerker you aim (successfully or not) for the lowest time completion for that said content. Everywhere, in VR and real life there will be an optimal/best/fastest way and only one when trying to accomplish a certain task. As an example for the sake of an example I try to do my laundry. I can do it manually, do it as good as I want but takes 2 hrs. I can do it with a manual washing machine and it will take 1 hr or an automatic machine for 45 mins. This is Guild Wars 2. Some people (majority or not) prefer the automatic. Some the manual, some the manual-machine. All can do and will do the same task but at different times, the only reason zerker is preferred by some is because they care for only one thing – time. You cannot create equality because then the difference would only be in names. Why 3 sets?

Throw a look in the fractal forum, a very predominant user made a tank + 4 zerk party for high level fractals. It’s awesome. It works, they are having fun. Just an example. No one is forcing anyone, players make their choice. I doubt a new player cares about dungeons anyway, and if he cares so early then he is used in searching when an “endgame build” is presented to him.

Why condi/cele cannot fit an zerker one? Because with zerk i hit for 1k in 1s. With condi I hit for 1k in 2s, 1s being for the buildup. With cele i hit for 0.5k in 1s because of the stat difference. If my goal is the shortest completion time, and having fun with that, I will pick zerk in this situation.

You will never-ever have 2 sets doing things equally because they would only be one set then. As for the attitude, as I said, you can find the negative one in all kind of groups, not just one.

It only comes down to time. Some people care and some do not. Those who care have find out zerker is the best. Some use this setup without knowing how to and then they are toxic. Not the stat problem, not the build problem, not anyone’s problem except that person’s.

You cannot say other builds should be viable when they already are. With nomad/cleric you can afk Example! . With the recent condi changes you do not have a cap on them. Keep on spamming with friends. WwW meta was never zerker and never will be (arguably on roamers). Please, berserker is not a problem, just a playstyle some people prefer. Just play your way with people that share the same mind set. It is just a click away. No exageration.

Good day horvgab!

I understand your issue but I do not understand the following: why do you label a whole community, why do you label a whole type of playstyle, based on a few individuals, why do you wish for a style that would promote staleness, more segregation and lack of viability (trinity).

Your hate does not help the community at all and your trinity proposal is even more problematic. No one is forcing you to run anything, you are doing it yourself.

First of all, did you read the LFG you are joining? Out of respect for them and for you. Did they state “meta”, “zerk” etc? If yes, and knowing the fact that you do not like this playstyle, you showed hypocrisy since you joined while not respecting their demands. It was your choice. If not and it was a simple “all paths” or something along this lines, then I apologize on their behalf. Please bare in mind that every community has its extremists and it saddens me when persons like you are having this bad encounters.

Because the majority of time it leads to aggressive thoughts in regards of that community. Zerk is bad, it destroys the game etc. This is simply not the truth. Berserker is simply a playstyle that some people enjoy and others do not. We must understand that the game offers us the tools to really play how we want. In other MMOs if you do not fit in a certain playstyle, and you are getting kicked, you cannot open the LFG, made your own add, with your own playstyle and still be successful in that content. This game allows you too and this is the beauty of it.

You had a bad encounter? Block those players to avoid interaction (no, the hardcore community does not pride itself with these kind of players), open the LFG and state your add. You will meet like-minded people and even future friends! Some people (majority or not is irrelevant) prefer the berserker style. It is all about maxing your damage and supporting the party at the same time with the cost of “1 shot” from almost anything. The one shots are avoided from the said support, from your dodge, from learning the enemy tells, and from the time needed to drain its HP to 0.

I am part of these people. I am having the fun. I feel good, I met and made friends. I do not join parties I do not fit in and thus I have no relation to people that play differently than me. Thus no conflict. What you met are a bunch of extremists, that should not dictate your view on a playstyle or a whole community.

I have been in situations in which people that do not fit my play-style joined my party. They though I would not notice. I did and politely discuss with them just as I do with you. They all understood my POV, thanked me, left, made their own party and had fun! How do I know? They PM back saying they found a very quick like minded party. They did not believe they could because many people “scared” them. Some were “elitists” some were “casuals” it seems.

As you can see, the extremists from both groups are fortunately very few, but unfortunately very vocal. The persons you meet I like to call them “wanna-be”. They follow the meta theoretically (gear/trait/weapon/food setup) but 0% practically. Berserker, in order to survive the one-shots (not including support) is meant for people who know the boss, its tells and the encounter. You can put a suit and think you are special. Same here, you can put berserker and think you are pro. No you are not, and when situations like these arise, along with aggressiveness, a bad image in the eyes of players like you is created, and that is sad.

My advice would be make your own parties if you are using LFG, do not let your image be dictated by stereotypes, respect and you will be respected and do not create false impression for yourself. I am zerker, I speed run and I am a minmaxer. I am having fun every second and I am sure by following some advices and the in-game tools you will too!

Hope to see you in game!

An anti 'Meta' rant.

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Lux Dominatoris.3941

Lux Dominatoris.3941

Time for a constructive discussion made through bullet point lines…

- majority of anti-meta threads are made by persons that consider themselves entitled in a particular way ( I do not exclusive rewards, I do not want to play as zerker, I do not I do not etc)

- I have never seen an anti-meta thread without name calling, but the “evil” side is the hardcore crowd

- people are having fun in game either by roleplaying, casual runs or speed runs.

- respect is a 2-way street. respect the LFG description and you will be respected back.
- the core mechanic of Guild Wars 2 allows any player with any setup at any time to be able to form their own parties that will successfully complete the content

- usually this means meeting like minded people who may even become your best in-game buddies

- do not judge a community based on its extremists, usually very vocal

- i see 4 types of players in game : the casuals, the hardcore elite, the wanna-be and the pro

- out of these types, the wanna-be are among both camps of hardcore and casual players alike: very vocal, tend to be aggressive, entitled and more importantly hypocrites.

- best way to deal with these persons is complete ignore time

- I strongly believe that with detailed communication and proper explanations of terms (zerk, meta, viable, optimal etc) along side mutual respect (read the LFG that you are joining, understand that if you do not find it fun someone else may) a fruitful collaboration can be made between the hardcore and the casual communities, for the better of both

- the type of game play you desire is one click away only

- nothing destroyed the game. As opposed to other MMOs that force you in a certain team composition/skill setup/gear setup etc or you won’t succeed at all, Guild Wars 2 provides the tools necessary to succeed with any combination of gear, traits etc, in any content of the game, the difference usually being reduced to time of completion

- some people care about each second of game play some do not

- understanding that just because we do not like a play-style in a product that allows any play style does not mean a whole community should be negatively labeled, does not mean the game is destroyed, does not mean you are somehow forced to play that certain play-style

- knowing all this but joining parties you do not fit in, blaming others, labeling a community based on its extremists, lack of respect, demanding of certain “fun” definitions etc etc makes any argument you may or may not have irrelevant, creates hypocrisy, tension between the two parties and results in negative stereotyping on both sides.

Do not be an extremist. I speed run. I am having fun. I am elite. I am proud. Do not be hypocrite. Respect is a two way street. Read LFG before joining. Find like-minded people, the game permits. Jealousy towards other play-styles is a no-go in my book. Do not label a community based on a vocal negative minority. Have fun. Enjoy the game.

Have a nice day.

Why do you think we care about anything you mentioned in your post?

I don’t ‘think’ anything. Besides, nice representation of DnT, such nice comments of yours.

Lorddavito, do not take his comment as a representation of its guild or the community. Maybe he has a bad day, let us give him the benefit of the doubt if I may suggest? As for the original post, you are right! Many people tend to use words they do not know the meaning off or sub par versions of those said words.

I for example am trying to tackle such issues through my channel. Other members through guides and others through helpful replies on topics that would tackle these issues.

I believe we should make sure they are clueless (and not persons bent on giving us a bad name on purpose) and redirect them here for help, or, in the case such as yours where you reached more or less your limit in dealing with persons like this, try to not attack them in any way (n00b, useless casual etc etc) and instead try to ignore them.

It is good you have made this thread creating more awareness on the issue. I will personally dedicate a video rant about this meta zerk convention and its problems when it comes to applying it. Also let us bare in mind that even though they might have the proper gear, traits and theoretical knowledge, they might lack practice which would give the casual n00b impression.

Then there are the trolls or know-it-all’s/extremists but these persons should be completely ignored!
