Just wanted to check a few things out about mastery levels.

1) Am I correct in thinking if you gain xp in tyria you will automatically gain exp for tyria mastery and same for Magumma no need to swap between them?

2) What is the current maximum level mastery?

3) where do you view your mastery level, is it in the mastery tab?

I am looking to upgrade my aquatic equipment. I currently run full zerk on my lv 80 Guardian. I was planning on getting zerk spear (dps) and tridant (survivability) from CoF. I have found the tridant but can’t seem to find a zerk spear.

Can anyone tell me the best exotic spear or the best CoF aquatic DPS weapon?

Also what is the best aqua breather, I have looked on the TP and I can I my see a rare breather for about 18g, is this the best available for purchase? Are there any others that you can get without buying?

Would someone be able to point me in the right direction please.

Basically my mastery is locked but I am lv80 and have the full amount of exp to unlock pact mentor.

I have watched Scarlet’s war replay but not started any of living world two or heart of thorns missions.

Do I need to complete one of those first before I can unlock either of the two mastery systems?

I am running full zerk with Molton GS and Mace/Focus (swapping in Scepter now and again) using Superior sigil of force and Sigil of frailty.

Am I correct in thinking for best dps I would need frailty on focus then sigil of force on scepter/mace or would it not make a difference if I had Sigil of force on focus?

Just trying to get out of buying 2 Sigil of force if I can have 2 frailty instead.

Just wondering with the new Dragon Hunter elite skill on guardian does this allow you to wield any bows or does it have to be a specific type or is it only the exotic bow you are provided with when you unlock the skill.

I’m being a n00b when it comes to unlocking the mastery traits. I am lv80 and have got 635,000/635,000 exp towards the pact mentor trait. I have GW2 HoT and when I go into the mastery system both maguuma and tyria are locked (Tyria has 8 next to it) just wondering what I have to do to unlock these?

Do I need to complete the living world 2 before I can unlock these?

Also could you give me a run down on which one is more favourable or is it just personal preference?

FYI it does say locked “Travel to heart of Magumma and complete torn from the sky” I think I need to complete the HoT story am I correct in thinking this?

I know there is already a lot of stuff out there about this but just wondering what utility skills people use in your general dungeon/fractals and if you ever swap things out for bosses ect?

I currently running a dps build (pretty much from metabattle) with full zerk, I use purging flames and switch between retreat and stand your ground depending on dungeon/bosses.

Can I ask what people do with the runes that come with dungeon armour for example the superior rune of smothering that comes with COF exotics? Do people just keep them or use extractor tool from gem store so they can put other runes in?

Is this the only way to take the runes out without salvaging the armour?

Thank you both for your answers this has pretty much filled me in on what I needed to know. I will aim to get full zerk first which I plan to get it from dungeon merchant. I will then carefully decide on what runes will suit me and my budget.

Then when I get more involved with PvP I will look to get some soldiers/knights armour from dungeon to mix up my stats.

I’m currently levelling chef and armoursmith so maybe at a later date I can look to craft my own.

Wow thanks someone has been doing there homework! This is appreciated there is more than enough information to help me decide here. Thinking long term say I were going to use this full zerk set for factals/wvw/raids would this make a difference to which runes I used or do have people have a separate set of armour for each game type with different runes?

I guess what I asking is should I make this armour just for dungeons or dungeons and fractals or will it be good for dungeons/fractal/wvw.

Also is the best way to get the best armour to buy them using dungeon tokens rather than using karma?

Thanks, I was thinking about doing the same I’m bored of going through them all the time and having them clogged up my bag space. I’ve missed loads too when I’ve not had correct tools on me like getting to dungeons and stuff.

Yeah I agree probably no need for it with pve so I’m thinking of using a good all round rune that will be useful in both day and night dungeons ect as I only have one set.

I am currently working towards full Zerk and I have done a lot of research about it and people seem to have different opinions.

For people who only have one set of full zerk it seems pretty pointless having Superior Sigil of the night when your just roaming around PvE. Do people just use Ruby Orbs instead or do people have a set of gear for dungeons then something else for roaming/WvW/Factals ect

Just wondering what everyone else does regarding gathering tools. I’m getting pretty tired of swapping between different gathering tools and having to check which tool to use to gather which particular ore ect.

Just wondering what other people did, do you just buy the tools from the gem store or just use Orichalcum version to collect everything or do people just have 5/6 different types of axes/sickles and swap between?

I would have assumed the 1 M stood for 1 minute but I guess this is not correct.

Just looking at the meta builds for guardians I’m dungeons using GS and Mace/Focus. Just wondering why it doesn’t make full use of all skills during rotation and tells you to miss out certain skills and just let the auto attack of strike be used.

Is there a specific reason for avoiding certain skills in this build or is it just the auto attack causes more damage?

Thanks both for your responses I have found them very useful! Currently I like to use my own builds but I do look at meta builds to get ideas ect so there probably is some crossover.

Do people use the skill/weapon rotation as detailed on the metabattle page ? Just feels a bit robotic and not sure I would get much enjoyment doing it? Although I know some people just want to get the job done.

I like to mix it up where sometimes I like to go with dps in dungeons but sometimes I like to play support role. Just wondering what your thoughts are?

1) Do people always use meta builds (where physically possible) for things such as dungeons and PvP? Or do a lot of people just use builds they like?

2) where is the best place to find meta builds along with other good builds such as support builds as I have seen a lot of sites but some builds look outdated?
