Druid – Trait: Natural Stride.
The movement speed increase seems to disabled when strafing.

There does not seem to be any specific factors making this happen since I’m able to reproduce the loss of movements speed in all aspects of the game.

The way to recreate is to keybind strafe to A and D and activate Natural Stride trait, you should see considerable lower movement speed when strafing.
From my understanding strafing is used to maintain your movement speed while changing position but I could be misunderstanding.

Accessories are depending on your liking and how comftable you are, it works well with Celestial for more bunker or complete glass with either Sinister or Vipers.
At the moment I run with a comb Dire/Rabid and Rabid to get a bit more HP and armor.
A little note that the calculator is not correct, and the bleed duration is actually closer to 65%

It can easily be used in PvE either with same skills or slight modifications.

Taking New Players into Unranked PvP?

The way we do it in our guild is we have PvP training once a week for anyone that want to learn, we take an hour or two in our arena with duels, it’s great for us more seasoned PvP’ers to try out new setups, and new players are able to get assistance with builds and basic tactics in fights depending on what they want to play.
Besides that we just take them to unranked.
The matchmaking system should in theory take into account you have a player in your team that has a lower rating and match accordingly.
We also try to say they should get on TS, it helps a bunch since they can call for assistance if we leave them at a point and they feel they are getting in trouble.
Besides that, us that are used to PvP kinda take on the mindset of we are not gonna win as much as usual probably, and more focus on giving our new folks a good experience, and tell them if there is anything they could try to improve, for next match. Besides that just make sure they have a fun time, make them more likely to want to join in again.

Pewpew can work wonders, just be rdy to be frustrated in the start. You will be a prime target for other burst classes, so you will learn the hard way too evade pressure. Dont let this discourage you tho, since when you get into the flow of the build you can do really well even in 1v2 situations. In small group situations cycle through the targets, nothing better to find someone with 50% hp and just remove them. Oh and remember your pet, it can actually help you a whole lot
This is what i run in WvW both solo and havoc groups:
You can go rune of infiltration instead of travelers, i just love the run speed and works find even with the lower dmg.

Ideas to help on the eSport potential

So, with all the problems with DC’s and lags going on in PvP, what about taking on from Dota2 and implement admins to pause the game in these cases?
This could be a thing at least for tournament matches, because as a viewer is really sad to see problems with DC’s, hearing them talking about if they should or should not restart, its really not cool if this game wants to make it as an eSport, and as a player i would love seeing that happen, but with this state realistically i don’t see it.

Also on another node, i don’t know about Anets server infrastructure, but i’ve heard rumours that we share server capacity with other games? Wouldn’t it be an idea to maybe put some server capacity aside for PvP, since this is competetive play where lag is a much more serious issue, than someone rubberbanding while stacking in dungeons?
This is just ideas i wanted to throw out, too see if anyone would agree on this?

Hello all,

This is more of a service topic than anything else.
Maybe some of you have experienced problems with hard crashes of your PC when playing GW2, not have not been able to recreate the problem with anything else. There has been a lot of suggestions on why this is happening, but i have finally (after a year with this behaviour on/off), tried something really simple that might also work for you.
First, go download MSI Afterburner and GPU-Z,
Next, fire up GW2 and keep an eye on the sensor tap in GPU-Z, in the field: PerfCap Reason, look too see if you get Pwr as a reason. If this happens the solution might be to give your graphics card access to more power.
If this is true, fire up MSI Afterburner, and crank your power limit up, this will raise the amount of power your card can draw.
If you still get a PerfCap on power, try dialing down your core clock a bit, it can be because of the turbo features on modern cards it still try to do a bit too much with the power available.
This is a really cheap an easy fix you can try, instead of having to try borrowing PSU’s or Graphics from friends.
My theory behind this is: GW2 don’t cooperate well with the drivers, thereby forcing the card to draw more power than allowed, this results in the different colored screen crashes or restarts people get’s since it forces the card to do something it’s not able to.
As of writing i see a 100-110% TDP on my GTX 670 by just standing in WvW with no people around. This is after i gave my card a power limit of 122%, before that it was just on 100% and crashing after half an hour or so. I first raised the power limit, got a crash but it managed to recover the driver (first time that happen), then i could see in GPU-Z it had spiked to 105% TPD, which it was not allowed, therefore the crash. After dialing my clock speed back a little, my card now runs without getting capped out on power.
Hope it’s something you guys will try if you have this sort of problem, maybe we can find the reason so Anet know where to look to fix this in the future

Have the exact same problem, running i5-3570k, 8GB ram, GTX 670.
Have been having this problem almost a year, but noticed it happened a lot when in LA. After just quitting going into LA i’ve had no problems for a long time, but after the new Nvidia driver 344.11 it again happens everywhere. Have been in contact with support for a long time, but to no avail sadly.
Heat is not the issue since my system never hit 60 degree Celsius because of custom WC loop.
There is also no error logs in Windows, and it sadly only happens when playing GW2.
My laptop has never experienced this problem running a GT 650M.
Being in a WvW guild it’s getting pretty annoying to be undependable whenever running raids, since i happens out of nowhere.
I suspect it’s more a game issue talking with the driver than anything else. Hope Anet will look into this, since it makes the game hard to enjoy.

Np, glad to share my thoughts with others, thats how everyone learn

I tried it after running a lot of shatter, and i found that it made a really big impact on how to handle heavy boon user. Altho you have to be more careful when going up against heavy condi pressure, and would say that’s the one thing i have the biggest problems with, stuff like condi thiefs are a pain for me. But have become a lot more happy about the boon stripping than the extra condi removal.
I switch around on Null Field and AT depending on what i meet a lot, some nights it’s all freaking condi and there NF can be just slightly better, ofc if you can actually stay in it for the full duration

PU will always have a bad ring to it, don’t think we will ever get over that sadly. But actually feel the change isn’t as bad as i thought. Kinda like having some kind of source for swiftness even if it’s a short duration, and if you get lucky with might stacks (like proccing 3 and then jump people) it can be kinda great.
Just wanted to throw my version in, not saying it’s better but sometimes people bring up stuff you didn’t think about yourself.

Just a quick recap on my thoughts on the differences, your choice if you want to try them out
Mental Torment – Bigger spikes with Mind Wrack
Shattered Concentration – Really fun to pull stability and might of people, can really screw with bunker guardians.
Master of Manipulation – lower CD on blink and since i use AT in solo/duo roaming in WvW it again helps with CD. Debilitation Dissipation i don’t find very useful when not specced for the condi dmg.
GS Sigils – running Strenght to build up might when snipping together with Fire for a little extra burst.
Sw/T – Energy because i want a dodge when i move into melee, and Battle for the easy extra dmg when switching for a BF + MW burst.
Runes – Travelers, because when you try the extra speed you just can’t live without it.

This is my usual setup for roaming in WvW, armor is Valkyrie and zerker trinkets, rings etc.

Just my take on the same playstyle, hope it can give you an idea on variation

Okay, i would prefer that this topic is not merge with the Megaserver discussions since this is more guild related.
As leader of a newly started guild we have noticed a lot of people without guilds, and of course thats good since it give us a chance to get members, but with the change to the Megaservers we noticed we get people from different servers and this makes problems with influence, since members on other servers get influence on the their homeworld and also they dont have access to our upgrades since thats on our homeworld. Would really like to get some attention to this since it can be a big problem especially for us starting up as a new guild.

Hello,

With the changes in the feature pack we are now able to use stuff like Wintersday outfit while in combat. But i have noticed that when you use a costume as a mesmer your illusions will still be in your normal gear, i don’t know if other players see it like that, but if so it’s really kitten me over in PvP, have anyone else noticed this?

So, i haven’t been able to find anything about this. But what if you have bought armor skins in the gem store, then you thought, well just gonna change the gloves and headgear because i will get a better look. So now i will have like half a set of that gear and that’s it? Since it’s gem store items there is no certain chance for them to come back, and even then i wouldn’t like to spend money just for two pieces to get the full set for my wardrobe.
Anyone know if i have to buy the splitter stones just to get the original headgear and glove skins back before the change, or will i actually get “credit” and get my full, in this case, phoenix armor set for my wardrobe?

Thank you ODB for understanding where iam going with this, personally i don’t play WvW or PvP in general so iam not running a build setup for this, so Focus just don’t fit in with my playstyle, neither does shifting my entire runeset just to get a speed boost, i have get by using my Blink. My thought was just to give us another opportunity to move around faster, by not having to change our gearsetup to get that speed other classes are so lucky to enjoy.

Hello to the community
So i have a suggestion about Mesmers speed. Everyone who plays a Mesmer know how slow we can be, and how hard it can be to keep up, by either running with weapons, skills or runes we actually won’t use for anything else than getting a little more speed. This can get frustrating i know, my main is a Mesmer and i know the feeling of lacking behind and it can get annoying, so my suggestion is, we have a trait called Compounding Celerity why not turn this around? So moving faster the fewer illusions you have?
It’s mostly when traveling around the world, that be WvW or PvE exploring that we really want that extra speed, so if this trait got reversed we would get the speed out of combat, and since we get slowed when entering combat anyways i think we could live it, plus it would give a little defensive bonus as well, since when our illusions is down, that be a pretty good part of either our offensive or defensive capabilities, we would have a little speed boost to help us get away if needed. For me this sounds like a simple and pretty balance solution to the problem, but don’t know about you all?
