Character voice pitch adjustment?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

So in my time playing TERA years ago, there’s this option in character creation where you can adjust the voice pitch. So you can choose to have your character have a deep, gruff voice or a small pitched one, etc. This basically made the already wide selection of voices even wider.

I was wondering why this isn’t the case for GW2. Such an option could solve the problem of players asking for new voices. You can introduce variety without going through the trouble of hiring a new voice actor.

I’m not expecting them to give this a priority, as this is very minor. Just throwing out stuff to think about.

The "Shoulder" Scarf

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Not sure if i’m on the right area of the forums, but anyway.

So the new shoulder scarf. I like it, and i’m sure most do. However i have two gripes against it…

- It’s massive
- It uses the shoulder slot

Now i know, it’s called “shoulder” scarf for a reason. But i’ve always pictured stuff like this to take up the back slot. And IMO, it should work better that way since it should go along well with another shoulder piece. The clipping should be tolerable, if there are any since it’s cloth.

Not really expecting this to happen soon or at all, just wanted to share my opinion.

Distance Indicator

anet specifically said they dont want details on the screen.. seeing distance marked next to people is unnecessary and they wont add it.. no matter how much you beg or plead.. its part of their design goals to keep info as minimal as possible.. and what you ask is completely unnecessary.

Oh, well that’s a darn shame. Oh well, was worth the effort.

this is completely pointless.. if they are out of range the skill turns red indicating they are out of range.. what more do you need to know?

and part of the game is learning your skills and learning to judge distance yourself.

A tiny red bar below your screen is not a very reliable tool to indicate distance, in my opinion.

Plus there are times when i can still connect an attack even if the red bar shows.

I’m not that good at explaining stuff, so pardon if you’re having a hard time understanding.

For a supposed action RPG, i find it odd that this game lacks a distance indicator. Without it, it’s pretty much a guessing game when it comes to ranged attacks (and to some extent, melee).

What i’m suggesting is that Anet should add a number besides a targeted player/monster (since the game lacks a targeting reticule/crosshair) indicating their distance from you, therefore eliminating the guessing game of ranged combat. In my opinion, this feature is crucial for potentially life saving skills like the Mesmer’s magic bullet, the Ranger’s point blank shot, etc. I’m aware that by now everyone have adapted to this particular problem but this would be a welcome addition to GW2’s combat.

Character creation numbered slider

First off, pardon me as i suck at explaining stuff.

I know it may seem pointless, since almost everyone looks alike when it comes to their character’s faces. But when you do make that face for your character that you think is different/stands out and want to recreate it on a different class, it’s kinda hard.

So i was wondering if we could get an update to character creation that, as the title says, has a numbered slider. It should take the guesswork out of recreating a character’s appearance in both the total makeover kit and character creation

Dual wield

First off, i too, would love to see this. As i wanna feel and look like i’m dual wielding.

Anyway, on one hand, and from a realistic standpoint, they did it right. As far as i know, real life dual wielders (what little there is) mostly (or only) use the one on their right hand to attack, and the other weapon for parrying. And again as far as i know, constant use of the non dominant hand for attacking will or may cause the user to lose balance. I think the only weapon with which you can use both hands at the same time are katars. As the technique involved is akin to fist fighting.

But on the other hand, this is a fantasy game, so you can throw all that out the window. I’m no expert but it’s probably not hard, since they only share the same animation when idle. Most of them have a different animation when a corresponding skill is used.

But alas, the odds of this happening are slim to none. Cause as Redenaz said, it’s not a very high priority issue. I doubt Anet will put the manpower and resources on such a small issue.

P.S.
While we’re talking about animations, the male sword auto attack animation feels a bit stiff. Hopefully a change will come.

[Suggestions] Gemstore Items

A ballistic mask styled (as in, no horns, wings or anything) heavy armor helm that covers the entire head. The moment that thing hits the gemstore i’ll be a happy man.

And a finisher animation that depends on the weapon. For example, impaling a downed enemy with your 1 handed sword. Jumping on top of an enemy and finishing him off with your dagger, etc etc. But this is gonna be a lot of work, so i don’t have high hopes for this one.

Need help for a sword/axe longbow build

1. The whirl combo doesn’t work anymore?! Well that sucks. I don’t think the damage itself is reliable either. But then again, i already have the axe. So can’t hurt to try.

2. Not sure i get you here. But since you said that it doesn’t work with the current gear, i don’t think it matters if i get it or not.

3. Hmm, i already came from conditions. In fact, i’m running a condition/regen build right now. Wanted to try something different. I also did try to go hybrid. Worked alright in PVE, don’t know about WvW. Cause as i’ve mentioned, i’m not confident enough in my skills to judge whether a build is good for WvW or not.

Hmmm, i say 8/10. Mostly because the white hair strongly contrasts the tanned skin, making it hard to focus on one aspect of her. Anyway, here’s my guardian.

Before i go through with what could possibly be the most stupidest idea since me going through that skunk infested vacant lot, i need some opinions and/or tips about a pve/wvw? build that i’m cooking up

http://gw2skills.net/editor/?fIAQNAsXDjkuNPKPMxBEkCNsKOPoipg8UKsD3A-jUyAYLBR6CIVAI5FxE4QW7DFRjVvgpPJiqdHFRrWIARTAA-w

Basically, what i’m aiming for is to deal some damage while taking hits. Now i know that it’s not all about toughness and you can dodge and whatnot, but there are times when you really just have to man up and take the hit (i/e ran out of endurance, rooted, etc) and i want to be alive after taking the said hit. To avoid financial ruin, i also built this around stuff that i already have and ones that i can get for karma, hence the gear selection.

I’m also planning on using this for WvW too. But i’m not confident enough with my “skills” (if you can call it that) to say that it works in WvW. Hell, i may have been running a build which i thought was bad that another player just dominates with. So i guess feel free to try it yourself if you’ve got the gear and/or money to blow for it.
