Been gone for almost a year, was the WvW Leader for The Brotherhood, some of you may remember us from Northern Shiverpeaks and the origins of the short lived Titan Alliance. Playing Wildstar has made me miss the fluidity of combat, and the art style of GW2. But is WvW (my main focus) worth returning too? It had tons of problems when I left, and I feel like its probably not better now. ANET was too slow in fixing things then, has it changed?

The Brotherhood has returned to Guild Wars 2!!! We’re once again building our numbers. We’ve played since Open Beta and continue to make our home here on NSP. Its a great community, full of active friendly people. WvW has tons of loyal active people. We also have an in game guild for all guild leaders, as well as weekly meetings and a server website.

The problem here on NSP is that the community is pretty good at heart. what I mean by that is that we don’t exploit broken game mechanics or glitch. We’ve weeded those bad apples out.

I’ve been getting burnt out leading WvW for 8 hours every day. So I’ve been on a personal break for the past week. But I can tell you that I know plenty of people in my guild and on our server that are tired of seeing the 30-50 man balls to exploit the AoE hitting only 5 people mechanic and the rendering issues, as well as the abuse of garrison seagate bypass and mesmers glitching through terain on purpose. It’s not necessarily just these Servers, but it’s been happening for about 3 weeks now, and its getting more and more demoralizing to see servers winning by exploiting broken game mechanics that aren’t functioning the right way.

Personally I’ve been obsessed with WvW since March and have learned every little aspect I could. And even I’m getting very frustrated with the ever growing mountain of fails in WvW. It used to be fun, but it’s just not fun seeing zerging, flyhacks and exploits over and over again. ANET is failing at maintaining their game and preventing abuse.

SoR hasn’t lost in the past two weeks if I’m not mistaken…. could use an update from someone on SoR for sure, but I’m almost postive.

It’s not all of SoR though, GSCH and Caedeas (spelling) were good opponents, and I’m definitely missing a few other high caliber guilds. But this blatant use by a full guild is not something I’m ok with. It’s ruining WvW and more and more players are leaving a game that has potential. I realize that there are some things that aren’t intended to work a way but do work. that doesn’t mean you have to exploit them. There’s a difference between making gains legitimately and making gains by cheating. And I think that’s something that irks those of us who don’t allow our guild members to exploit.

I can’t attach two files, this is the original photo of their player, hard to catch glitching in action, but if you read the message in the image above you can understand the situation.

So two weeks ago we faced SoR. We encountered some terrible acts of glitching, and I know it doesn’t represent a whole server. But Defiance is a large WvW guild and is very active. I want you to know about the guilds your working with. The leader requested me to post this on the forums so take a look at the attachments.

Wasn’t from The Brotherhood then. My guys haven’t touched garrison. I’ve been on since 3pm, and I know the events from before.

Im assuming we fought off a NPS attack at AB because the wall was quite low, so i started to repair it. Few secodn later NPS is back i run in the gate and go around to find a mesmer in the base. we killed them and the NPS swim away. Im thinking ok they were waiting for a portal no big deal they must have gotten through and we didnt sweep well.

I see white swords at garrison a few minutes later, so i go and check on it i see NPS a good 15 of them at the water stairs not the gate. I report them in team chat and see the way point is useable now and go in the garrison. they finally push to the water gate but dont hit it but try and take out our cannon and some are pushing around like they are hiding. i drop a portal -> knock them off -> portal back up. i run back as if im going to the inner court…. and low and behold same mesmer from brotherhood is in the garrison!!!! right behind the water gate…..

im not crazy for thinking something off right?!?!?

If I’m correct this was during reset night. The group had originally breached but got pushed back. Our mesmer had gotten inside and died up on the wall of the gate. We brought a group to him because during reset night you were able to rez someone from full death using an ele glyph of renewal. It was strategy, and was something that was planned. I promise you we never play dirty and no one in the guild hacks. We use mesmers a lot. I think SoR has learned that more and more, as we’ve hit them a couple of times using them. We’ve done it with Hills a couple of times already in this match-up.

Ultimately that Water Attack did fail, didn’t have the numbers. So we just left garrison alone for the rest of that night.

It’s been a ton of fun against SoR. Especially your guild and GSCH. [TBH] looks forward to the next few days!

We in TBH started doing this on NSP and spreading the word this morning. Been going Pink All day

Alas it was a good fight but after an hour it finally fell. Sanctum camping each exit from spawn gave you free reign into the Lord.. such a shame.

TBH refuses to let Shadaran Hills Keep fall!!! We will hold for hours at the lord room with no reinforcements! Fraps is loving this action, so is my badge and kill count! Run into the hallway of death! I implore you!

Yeah well, I didn’t want to risk anything. So we switched maps for the time-being to push back Yaks.

Go all out for Ascension Bay, I’m pulling my guys out. I just got back to my computer and heard that the orb was brought to Bay. I’m not sure if the inner gate of garrison fell, I’ve heard someone from another guild mesmer glitched inside the inner door of garrison. We’re leaving our claimed, fully upgraded keep for you. I’m in contact with the guild leader in question. Regardless of whether it’s legit or not, we’ll take bay later.

Difference here, it happened from NSP twice in the entire two weeks we played AR. Yaks has tried or successfully hacked the orb over 4 times in this one match-up already. With screens and video of each account.

Well guys I have a ton of pull on this server. We need to rally together and punish yak’s for their orb hackers. I say we each control our own borderlands, then we split EB and Yak’s Borders in half. It’s a close match, but let’s take it to yak’s the next few days and we can have our own battle after their demoralized come tuesday.

Punish the server full of hackers since ANET won’t disable the very broken orbs. Sound good?

If you’ve been following the progress of servers over the past few weeks, you may be noticing the rise in strength on Northern Shiverpeaks.

The community here has banded together to reform after the vacancy left by Ascencion Alliance’s move to Eradon Terrace. Although NSP has gone through some hard times, the past three weeks has shown 3 decisive victories of over 250k over the 2nd place servers. We are going to continue to rise up through the tiers and as such, I would like to extend an offer for any Oceanic/EU/Asian guilds to move to the server and help boost the NA off-peak time slot. While we there are multiple other servers doing this at the moment I would like to list a few reasons that set NSP apart.

1. NSP has a great community. We strive to help all players learn the game, especially WvW. If anyone takes a look in map chat you will constantly see us calling out enemy server movements and laying out strategies for everyone to see.

2. There is a strong and growing organization within the community. We have voice comms for any willing guild leaders/WvW officers to join in and help coordinate map movements and strategies. This exists for any willing guilds on the server and not just the members of HOPE alliance.

3. There are extremely strong and dedicated guilds in the server. They include but are not limited to The Brotherhood, FINE, Os, Redmist Warband, Dragon’s Lair, PvP Inc., Bots, VIPs, Legion of Malice, KINGs, South of Heaven and Zealots of Shiverpeaks. All of these guilds are dedicated to communication, organization and co-operation in WvW.

4. VERY active NA players. One of the reasons our server is doing so much better than the current match-ups is the fact that a large portion of our NA players stay up well into the morning in order to make sure we have the map capped. We would like to see an increase in those numbers, as sleep ultimately takes over and we will need a presence against higher tier servers.

If you’re looking for a transfer I implore you to send a few members over to check out the server. Whether your guild is 20 men or 100+ your contribution to our server will be appreciated.

@Aephyx- Unfortunately pop numbers are a major part of determining your tier, due to your coverage across all 4 maps at all points of the day. So technically, you moving up a bracket would lead to an even more devastating match-up.

You guys have a lot of fight, but until your server can field more and not give up or ragequit, your destined to be in this bracket.

I typically hold my tongue when it comes to things regarding TA, and the right people know why. But coming from someone who was once a part of TA, and one of the founding guilds I can tell you TA is a very strong part of the reason HoD is successful.

TA has the most organization and communication at an alliance level that I’ve ever seen. I’ve been in the inner workings there, take my word their coordination is superior to everyone else.

As they’ve stated they do’t necessarily have the numbers to claim a server as their own. There are multiple guilds in the alliance that number less than 100, but all they do is WvW. They aren’t simply a zerg alliance, they know the mechanics of the game, and their WvW leaders understand strategies and tactics.

Indirectly, they are also the reason why the Militia is so great. Most of these folks transferred when they heard TA was on the server, or when they saw how much HoD was winning. In the beginning, it was TA carrying HoD before the queues spiked to extremes. This population increase is a result of TA being on HoD.

I was there for BWE3 when TA beat AA, GoM vs CD. TA had just picked GoM, but AA had all the badwagoners on CD. And we (as [TBH] was apart of TA then) beat CD and AA.

Instead of asking TA to break up, try to get your communities to organize to be on their level. They are at the top of the ladder for a reason, and they’ve proved it time and time again. Give credit where credit is due.

Props to you guys Sky, Marstar and the rest of TA for sticking to your server and dealing with 4 hour queues (which makes it so they typically can’t field half their forces at any given time.)

3v3 makes orange swords. 5v1 makes swords, 5vs1npc makes orange swords, Anytime 6 people/npcs are involved in combat orange swords pop up on the map. so if you ever have any PuGs, only send 3 to attack 1 target, b/c they’re more than likely going to mess up your ninja attempt. Or you can politely send them a pm telling them not to engage. It’s what I always do.

You can expect NSP to be up in the mid tier this next reset. Last week we gained over 150 points on the server ranking chart. We had beaten AR(2nd) by 250k. Its almost to 300k with two days still left to go.

Its been a fun two weeks AR. the fighting has been spotty at times, but when its been good, its been a lot of fun. Good luck next week!

Take Ogrewatch cut, you can put catas and trebs on the hill just to the east of overlook keep and hit their walls too. Instead of whining, please take the time to check thinks out before you say its unfair. There are more constructive threads on these forums, I’m tired of all the useless ones popping up.

That’s a pretty decent battle report. The two biggest things I can contribute from a leader on NSP side.

At Bay we took the orb because the Lord was bugged with Determined (Invulnerable due to Orb /Pedestal) So we took the orb and high-tailed to Hills. We got stopped at the edge of the lake, the orb dropped but we couldn’t see anyone with the orb. It also wasn’t on the map. So we thought it bugged out and we headed north to prepare for the reset. Totally didn’t realize that Borlis Pass had the orb, or they would have never gotten that close to taking the bay.

But truly was a good fight for a few hours tonight. We knocked most of AR out of the fight after we finally capped the orb, which let us shift our focus to Borlis Pass.

Haha bring it on. I’ll gladly defend against Borlis Pass and AR split pushing on the same maps or on different maps. Lets keep up the good fights throughout the week!

15 mins of holding just north of your spawn at the orb pedestal was a lot of fun.

My advice: We couldn’t hold that supply camp. 2-4 trebs would have wiped our siege and then you would have been free to hit us as hard as you want. Instead you built arrow carts at the bottom of the stairs and just let us chill up there.

Definitely don’t forget about trebs as counter siege.

While we definitely outnumber you during off peak hours, peak fights can be a lot of fun. Loved that fight for garrison earlier tonight.

I just went to check, it doesn’t show anywhere on the map for us, nor is it physically on any of the pedestals. Nor is there an orb reset event. That’s very weird.

Yeah like I said in a different thread, Orbs are just really buggy. With fly-hacking happening every once in a while and the orb disappearing from the map, ANET should just disable them until they are fixed. They’ve done it before it wouldn’t be hard to do again.

You probably did, I’m the annoying Norn Warrior who runs Hammer and Axe-shield. I tend to jump down in the middle of groups and pummel them before activating endure pain plus the block from the shield.

No I can gurantee you there actually wasn’t any hacks for this orb. It just seems it is indeed a bug with when the orb drops. We had a good 30 plus meet up and escort it, plus 4 commanders :0

Player I was right there next to it and I can attest to what you saw from NSP side. We originally dropped it and then the reset came up. At this time We noticed an AR player heading back to that first arch with the orb icon over his head but it wasn’t on our map. It seems after the orb hits the ground the orb disappears from the map when it is picked up next. It was pure luck we saw the AR guy with it, someone yelled it out in Ts. So yes if the orb drops, you need to look for the shining trail in that huge mass of players.

It’s been a great fight here on your borderlands the past few hours. That was truly an awesome fight at the orb we just had. NSP ultimately got away with it, but I must say it was hard fought on both sides.

While your zergs were fighting we had 2 men from that team stealth up, grab the orb and port back to the east. Half our force then came from Hills to escort them the rest of the way. Its not our fault your zergs were to busy not paying attention to the important piece of your map.
Now I’ve seen the Screen of the flying orb from garrison, and it saddens me to see that. It wasn’t on the Borderlands that [TBH] was in or it would have been reported immediately.
But please, please, don’t throw everything into hacks, because that feat of ninjaing the orb from the group was something my guild takes a ton of pride in. It’s credit goes to Kilthemall, a co-leader and head of our SPvP department, and one of the best mesmers I’ve ever seen.
I don’t want to turn this into a thread where we fight each other, but I had to defend that event, because I was there and know exactly what happened. I just hope you can appreciate it.
Anyway, AR keep up the good fight. It’s nice to have stuff to do in WvW. You def don’t just roll over and I can appreciate that.

Also a side note, I would never ever just leave my orb on the ground. You’re asking for someone to take it even if you are standing there as you can’t detect stealth. Instead of resetting it up north, take it to garrison. As a defender I’d rather have my orb in my keep then up north. When someone from an invading team picks it up and you kill them, they’re doing you a favor by letting you put it in one of your keeps. Use it to your advantage.

If your sever is so organized and so awesome in WvW, then please explain the numerous hack invested methods your server is using in order to win.

Twice, your group tried to take the anvil rock borderlands orb, and twice you failed.

3rd time, it somehow appeared in your Hills keep even though the battle was between Anvil and boris pass, and my guild actually took it from them and caused it to reset.

so until all these mysterious things that keep happening in WvW stop vs your awesome unified server who seems clear on saying anvil is not organized stops. I doubt anything you say in these forumns or for that matter anything that Shiverpeaks has to say.

You guys aren’t winning because your good, your winning because of your weak way of playstyle and exploits.

maybe in fair matches i’d give you credit, but till then you guys can’t win without any advantages.

Love to here from you Matt or Mike. Personally, I should have saved my guilds 100g and spent it on seige for the time-being. That would go way further than this commander pin. We already use TS for guild comms in WvW. After a week here in NSP, most people know that Masterofkhaos, or my main alts Lord of Khaos and Agent of Khaos is me and will listen to my requests in map chat regardless of whether or not I have a commander pin on.

You guys made dungeon tokens account bound, its a simple fix. Code the manual so its account bound. Then refund all current commanders the manual. do this before you have 500+ commanders, it’ll make it easier on you guys.

Please, we could really use the ability to switch to our alts depending on our mood without losing the pin.

Way to keep fighting until the head AR and FC, you had us pushed back bad last night, but most of us NA guys stayed up past 5AM to ensure we regained our footing in EB and didn’t lose SM. Anyways great fight, we could use more people with that type of dedication in NSP.

I’m curious to see when the guilds on HoD split off. Winning is great and all but I’d be surprised to see guilds stay on the server continually. Their queues aren’t dying, nor are they going to die anytime soon. That has to be demoralizing. I live for WvW, but I couldn’t wait in queue for 6 hours without punching something. Let alone having to be glued to the pc the whole time in case it did randomly pop and I missed it for taking a bathroom break.

But Sam definitely hit the nail on the head. NSP is now better after facing a ton of adversity. The people here want to be on the server and are dedicated to making a community.

Trust me ArenaNet is banning accounts for map-hacking. I’ve received word from Devs that this is the case. The thing is they need people to report the individuals in question. So if you ever see it happen on your server/ our server be sure to repeat these cheaters as they negatively affect our community.

As Samusen said, I will make this my goal for the next few days to uncover the culprit. We want to win, but we want it to happen fair and square. Sorry you guys were victims of a bad apple.

Sure NSP has more numbers than either of the other two servers at night. But I can tell you what sets us apart is the coordination in WvW, even with the PuGs. They listen to reason over map chat, and try to contribute. We even have people leave maps and advertise in LA the need for help if a map is falling into enemy hands.

I regret that [TBH] moved to ET with Ascension originally. Its great to be back home with NSP and the community here.

Yeah I figured as much, you guys were able to get enough at the inner level to screw us up. Once we realized we weren’t going to pull it off at the inner level I gave the order to take out as much siege as possible to help later in the night. Our initial breach would have been a success but one of your defenders was sweeping the outer wall and saw us. We just had to pray they didn’t get attention in map chat or were apart of a guild. It appears they were.

Anyway, good fight tonight, I’m sure we’ll see [ANV] later tonight for sure. We’ve got a ton of blueprints to use

I was honestly wondering how we had all 3 orbs all of a sudden. I was leading the group that pushed against the west wall and then got pushed out at the 2nd level. We had some fun fights against you guys, but I pulled my group out to run dungeons, you simply had too many defending the keep. We were going to come on around this time to take it from you

I’m not sure who conducted the hack, but if I ever find out who did the hacking I will call them out. We don’t want that behavior here, we don’t need it and NSP has been quite classy so far. I don’t want to see the server degrade to the status of some of the others.

On a side note, keep your heads up. AR keeps giving us good fights on peak hours, its making for a lot of fun. Although I would hope someone makes a suggestion to TFO on how to improve their play. They simply circle zerg every night, and lose their points withing 2 mins of capping them. I’ll admit its frustrating, but the reason its bad for your server is they are taking 15-20 guys and capping things for karma and gold. Points are accumulated every 15 mins so the server isn’t making any progress in the WvW score by capping something only to lose it right away.

Seriously though, some fun fights. Get ready for more later tonight (Tuesday) Its a campaign night for [TBH] we’ll have 50 or so on one of the maps divided up to fight you. I can’t wait

One thing, why would you want just guild specific profits. This is a server wide battle. I’m more than ok with giving my benefits to the whole server, b/c it contributes to us winning more than if it was just my guild. Leave it the way it is. There are bigger things to fix.

So I want to create this thread to increase the awareness of the fact that siege equipment is despawning after a certain amount of time of inactivity.

This is a pretty flawed feature. If my guild wants to drop 10 arrow carts and 10 ballistas to hold red’s keep near their spawn. They will be despawned the next day if we don’t use them over a certain amount of time.

I know for a fact this happens, as we dropped 4 ballistas in the lord room at SM last night. We’re dominating our match-ups and did not lose SM over night. I got on about 10 hours later and they’re gone.

If match-ups are a designed to be a week long and eventually 2 weeks long, this is a terrible feature to the game, and it needs to be looked at. I’m ok with siege taking hits from lightening in the Borderlands, but we should not lose due to inactivity in EB.

Lohengrin, not to call you out but you need to learn about WvW before you whine.

They had 4 people, which means if they were smart and attacked right they never got orange crossed swords at their location. Only white swords over the actual keep. It’s not their fault you guys weren’t paying attention. It’s called being ninjas. My guild has done this before in EB. It’s truly not hard. Just my thoughts.

Oh and edit, to clarify, orange swords only show up if more than 6 are in an engagement. It’s not an exploit, its a game mechanic. don’t want anyone calling me out for knowing how the game works.

WvW was NOT designed to be fair.

That’s SPvP, huge difference.

Being constructive though, each third of EB is completely different. The location of Towers and supply camps are basically the same per zone, but the terrain is different. That’s intended, it makes it so that there is flavor to the most popular map in WvW and it gives you the most options when attacking and defending.

The point of all this is, learn how to develop a strat for EB when you are playing as each color. I’ve developed them for my guild, and they all work differently, but they all have advantages and disadvantages. Personally my favorite is to start blue, but I won’t get into all the details about [TBH] strats.

Some of the guilds hear have been anticipating launch for a year or more, and have built alliances recruiting guilds worldwide. Honestly you can’t blame them for being better prepared then you. End of story.

Sincerely: Don’t spend money on upgrades you can’t hold. You don’t need an oceanic guild. Have server night crews set up. 5-10 man teams dedicated to holding keeps in each map. Have the NA players help set up defensive siege before they log. I’ve said too much already. Good luck.

They put it on the back burners. They increased the price so no one could access it in BWE 3, and left it the same. Queue times killed BWE 3 and that system has been a focus for WvW ever since.

On a side note, as a commander please make the thing account bound. 100g, and now I am forced to play once class when I might want to play a mesmer or guardian depending on the numbers of those classes my guild is running is a terrible downside to the pin. Make the manual account bound and you have solved a problem.

Joining in to chime in with Samusen, as another leader of one of the top, dedicated WvW guilds in NS, [TBH] coordinated with all of NS borderlands last night over map chat. We stayed on until 4 am to 100 percent cap the map.

As far as the zerging goes, idk who is watchign what, but I have plenty of raw fraps footage showing 1 FC zerg and 1 AR zerg, while NS was split up around the map. We eventually outnumbered you all due to being up late, but that’s why we aren’t going to be in your bracket long. As for zerging, I know of a group in my guild that’s 3 manned a tower now twice. Granted its all against NPCs but the fact they can 3 man a tower at 1-2am EST is disappointing.

I’m not trying to put anyone down here, we had fun pushing out FC and AR last night, even though it took a good 6 hours. But I can tell you it wasn’t a huge zerg doing it. My guild used over 50 siege blueprints last night, that doesn’t count the siege from SoH, ZoS, VK and others. Good luck to FC and AR in their next match-up, but until you cover more of the 24/7 time zone it will be rough every morning you wake up.

This data is incredible to study. Even without the graphs, TBH had already decided to move back to NSP and forget ET. The queues were way too long, and it was just too hard to get in to accomplish anything meaningful as a guild. Since Tuesday (our switch) we have been able to get 30 or more into a borderlands at once. It’s been so much fun to deal with 15 min queues max during peak NA hours.

Just a side note, if you’re looking to transfer, Devona’s and Kaineng could use the pop. Get away from the queues and go have fun in WvW. Forget the scoreboard, enjoy yourself and have fun with your friends and guildmates. Log out every night feeling like you accomplished something meaningful!

The problem was their ratings tanked after Ascsension, Ruin, TBH, Thai and the other WvW guilds left the server. This left it up to newer players and guilds to learn how to play WvW. Northern Shiverpeaks had some growing pains, but I’m glad to be back on the server because they’ve banded together in the face of adversity.
