While doing an event I was hit by “Unknown” using Explode. I’ve been hit by “Unknown” a few times where it does more damage than I have health so I go from full health to dead in a second. Happened again today (different event, different map). Anyone know what this is?
I’m using a staff, just prefer it. Guardian wasted everything while leveling. Elemental is noticeably slower. I’m now level 42 and it’s picking up even though my gear is out-dated. I did try scepter and focus which seemed quicker, but I like the staff.
I agree that the official site should have the most recent updates. It’s odd that I have to check Facebook and Twitter and not the official site. First thought is always go to the official site, not go to Twitter and read through replies to other things while trying to find the most recent update and not knowing if it’s the most recent update. Last reply that mentions Trading Post was 9 hours ago unless you count the one that sounds like it’s Trading Post that I’d need to read the original post of to know for sure. And yes, Twitter doesn’t require signing up. Everyone knows that.
As for it being down, it’s inconvenient and annoying at times, but it’s better than the whole game being down. I’m sure it’ll all get worked out and down times will become rare.

I know about MMO problems, launch and expansions and update problems (I played WoW for 7 years). First time losing progress, that was a new one. I’m sure they’ll work out the problem. The thing that bothers me is not knowing it was happening. What if I hadn’t logged out and played for 4 more hours, would I have lost that? I wish I knew. That would suck. In map chat two people mentioned server disconnects but everything was fine for me. That seems to be when it stopped tracking my progress. I guess I’ll exit the game and come back in if I see people talking about it again.
Ok, this is weird. I was just playing about 30 minutes ago. I completed a heart, did an event, and got a new waypoint. I logged off and just came back on to find myself back where I was doing the heart, which was now not completed. It’s like I got rolled back in time. The game played fine, I didn’t notice anything different. What causes this?
I was also referring to leveling. Right now I’m leveling an elemental and I’m not killing nearly as fast. What exactly are the professions that supposedly kill a lot faster and take a hit as well? I have an 80 Mesmer. I had a level 40 Necromancer (I deleted it). I have a 22 Elemental I’m now leveling. Guardian killed way faster and I could just stand there and get hit.
I’ve done a lot of events with the Guardian. Events are easy except when you’re the only one taking on a pack of mobs that just spawned cuz everyone else is taking on a different pack. That’s happened way more times than I can count. Jumping into a pack solo or before others start dropping AOE causes them all to attack you. I’ve died plenty of times to that (I expected I would). 30 points in Honor helped survivability a lot over Valor.

I have a level 80 and it felt overpowered to me while leveling and at 80 doing events and killing the million mobs in Orr. While leveling I used a Greatsword and stuck with power and precision for gear and upgrades. Since like level 40 I only bought rare weapons and I bought green gear off trading post. I leveled a Mesmer to 80 and a Necro to 40 prior to that but without the trading post so I’m sure that helped the Guardian feel overpowered.
At 80 killing an 80 in Cursed Shore I usually walk away with full health or nearly full health and it dies pretty quick. Usually I just leap to it, drop Symbol or Wrath, then Whirling Wrath and by that time more than half its health is gone. A few auto attacks and it’s dead. I just let it hit me. I have an exotic Greatsword though but leveling was the same. I haven’t changed my play style at all.
I played with my spec a lot at 80. I like to AOE events so I needed to do enough damage to loot but still survive. I have the 6 rare karma WvW gear with power and precision upgrades. For traits I have 30 points in Zeal, 30 in Honor, and 10 in Radiance. Honor worked out better for me than Valor for taking hits. While leveling though it was all Zeal and Radiance.
My exact stats right now are:
Power: 2,028
Precision: 1,461
Toughness: 1,116
Vitality: 1,416
Attack: 3,128
Critical Chance: 30%
Armor: 2,201
Health: 15,805

I liked the Masterwork heavy armor I was buying from the trading post while leveling, particularly after level 60. There’s also armor skins. You want glowy stuff like WoW?
I have to disagree. I revive and do damage during events. Literally, I do both things. For most events you’ll need to use a weapon that can AOE. Hit as many things as possible, just how it is. I’ve gotten silver before, but that’s when I was either lower level than I should have been for the event or my gear was out-dated (I didn’t have the benefits of trading post when I leveled my first character, a mesmer, to 80). As you do events multiple times you’ll know where things spawn which can give you an advantage. The only problem I’ve had is at night when there’s some serious damage dealers (and more people) on so I’m unable to loot as much. I still got plenty of XP while leveling. I have two 80s.
I do agree that reviving should count towards the event if it really doesn’t already.
No idea on groups except that when grouped you can see them on the map. I haven’t grouped a whole lot to notice if there’s other benefits. I don’t think you should get credit and XP just by being grouped with someone.
In 2 days? Which event is that that’s so short and repeats that frequently? Each exotic is 42k karma each. That’s 210k karma for the set. 350 karma each event takes time.
As for the original poster, I don’t think they should double karma per event. They probably already planned prices (I know some greatly increased after launch) and would have to then make more adjustments which would minimize the benefits of doubling it. I wouldn’t mind a black lion key every level, but I really don’t care. 80 is cap.
There’s a lot of events. Even when you’re 80 and you do a starter area event you get karma. It was about 1/3 less when I did it. You’re supposed to have fun, do the events you like and want to do, and karma will build up. It’s working as intended for me. Karma builds up while I’m distracted. At 42k/piece it’ll take a while though for all of them.
Ok, I’ll check out the other cities. I only looked at Divinity’s Reach. Although, I did see an exotic armor vendor in Orr for 42k each piece. Is there one for exotic weapons?

Really? Well where’s the karma vendors that sells more expensive items? I have more than enough karma for the tier 3 greatsword (63k) but stats aren’t worth it (I’d rather use gold in that case).
I can buy from heart vendors, but those are super cheap.. like just over 1k. Stats aren’t much better than what I have unlike exotics in the trading post.
Is there a decent greatsword somewhere for karma or should I just get an exotic off the trading post? I have 68k karma, level 80. Preferably one with power and precision on it.
There is a problem in my opinion with down leveling and XP. My stats get down leveled, my level gets down leveled, I don’t usually feel I have a better chance to survive or face roll anything, but XP seems to be the same amount as if I really was that level which becomes hardly anything depending on what level you really are and what level you go back to. I try not to go back levels because of that. Try being level 60 and go back to a level 1-15 zone. Not worth it if you want XP. The only advantage I see is I have utility spells.
Originally it worked fine for me, I could see when friends were online by looking at the icon at the top of the screen. It used to have a count. Then I created more characters and the new characters didn’t show a count. Now it doesn’t show the count when logged into any of my characters. Any way to get that working again? Hard to know when friends come online otherwise.
